>[AJPW] Miyahara Kento’s feud with Anzai Yuma intensifies! He stomps on his face again: “I feel like I saw a new face from you.”

>At All Japan’s Shinkiba show on the 15th, Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion Miyahara Kento (37) took part in a “preview-match doubleheader” against Anzai Yuma.

>Miyahara, who will welcome Anzai for his V9 defense at the EBARA WAVE Arena Ota show on the 29th, appeared on this day at the Shinkiba event, which was split into afternoon and evening sessions. In the afternoon session, he teamed with Honda Ryuki and Tachibana Seigo to face Anzai, Shiozaki Go, and MUSASHI. Early on, he laid his emotions bare in an elbow exchange, bringing the venue to a fever pitch. He further cornered Anzai by stomping on his handsome face and brazenly sticking out his tongue.

>This enraged Anzai, who caught him in a facelock and kept choking him even after a rope break. Anzai, beside himself with rage, entered a “rampage mode” bordering on a disqualification, even shoving away the referee when he tried to separate them. Ultimately, the abnormal situation ended only when Anzai’s teammate Shiozaki stepped in and pulled him off.

>After that, the match ended when Honda lost to Shiozaki. Anzai spat at Miyahara, “You stepped on my face again today. Are you thinking something like, ‘What a waste of such a handsome face,’ again? Everyone here already understands this, but you’re the only one who doesn’t, so I’ll tell you. The world’s coolest man doesn’t stop being cool just because his face gets stepped on!”

>To this, Miyahara responded, “Today, I feel like I saw a new face from you. So you do get angry. You do have the emotion of anger… After making you show me a face you’ve never shown before, this superstar is going to swallow all of it whole!”
>>
>>21010930

>In the evening session, the two heroes clashed in an eight-man tag match. When they faced off early on, Miyahara, being squeezed in Anzai’s headlock, fought back with a kick to the face. They exchanged offense inside and outside the ring, and Miyahara once again stomped on Anzai’s face. An enraged Anzai hit him with a jumping knee, but when Miyahara caught a follow-up knee strike, he trapped Anzai in Snake Limit — an armbar from a triangle choke — and inflicted damage.

>In the closing stages, he let out strange cries as he blasted Anzai in the face with Blackout. Miyahara, who also contributed to his team’s victory, went wild even after the finish, slapping Anzai in the face and more. Taking the microphone, he stepped on the face of Anzai, who was lying spread-eagle, and spitefully said to him, “What a waste of the world’s coolest face!”

>Where will the battle between these two, neither of whom will give an inch, go from here…

>[NOAH/New Japan] "Master" Yoshinari Ogawa congratulates Ryohei Oiwa on his G1 victory: "People often call it classical, but..."

Yoshinari Ogawa, who retired in 2024, gave an interview regarding Ryohei Oiwa's victory in the G1 CLIMAX for New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Oiwa participated in NOAH for about a year starting in September 2023. During this unusual "domestic training," he actively learned a great deal from Ogawa. After returning to New Japan, he was mentored by Zack Sabre Jr., further refining the techniques he had acquired in the "Ogawa School."

And this summer, he won the G1 CLIMAX. Along with the impact of the birth of a new star, the content of his matches, which showcased the fruits of his accumulated technical training, also attracted attention. What did the "master," who now coaches at NOAH, feel about his beloved protégé's long-awaited result? We were able to speak with Ogawa.
>>
>>21024531
--Oiwa has won the G1.

Mr. Ogawa: "I'm happy for him. I watched the match."

--You coached Oiwa for about a year from September 2023 during his training period at NOAH.

Mr. Ogawa: "Even after he returned to New Japan, he would come to the NOAH dojo once or twice a month."

--Oiwa said that he has "developed the techniques he learned from Mr. Ogawa in his own way."

Mr. Ogawa: "That's right. What I taught him is the basis, but he's also very intelligent. He thought about various things on his own and worked hard. When I watched his matches, I was able to enjoy them thinking, 'Oh, so that's how he's going to do it.'"

--Was it also a big factor that he was in an environment where he could learn from Zack Sabre Jr. even after returning to New Japan?

Mr. Ogawa: "I think the fact that he was able to be with Zack after returning to New Japan is more significant than what I taught him." Even watching yesterday's match (G1 final), Zack was watching from ringside. But there were also moments when Zack looked frustrated. Like, "If it were me, I would have done it like this!" It was fun watching Zack while watching Oiwa's match (laughs). Zack and Oiwa have different careers, so it's unfair to compare them."

--The two young wrestlers also attracted attention for thrilling the G1 final stage with their classical techniques

Ogawa: "Classical, huh... Well, it's often the wrestlers who say 'classical' who can't actually do pro wrestling properly. People often say 'classical,' but I was told the same thing when I was Oiwa's age. 'Your pro wrestling is classical.' That was about 35 years ago, you know? Now, if Oiwa does a match like that, people will say it's 'classical,' and if I did it 35 years ago, people will say it's 'classical.' I think it's strange, but I think Oiwa himself thinks so the most."
>>
>>21024535
--The match showcased variations of basic moves like the headlock, wristlock, and arm drag, which set it apart from the current trends in pro wrestling.

Ogawa: "I thought that kind of thing was normal, so I didn't think it was particularly new or amazing, and I just thought, 'There are matches like that too.' On the other hand, Oiwa has that much power and physique, so I felt like he should have even more amazing moves, but I thought, 'But he's using a headlock.' I guess that's what made it fresh."

--In an unexpected way, the spotlight was also shone on his experiences during his training period in NOAH.

Ogawa: "But there's no one in NOAH right now who can do pro wrestling like Oiwa did yesterday. Dory Funk Jr., who passed away recently, was my teacher, and it feels like the pro wrestling I learned from Dory has been passed down from me to Oiwa (rather than NOAH's pro wrestling). If you compare Dory's matches and Oiwa's matches, you'll see that they're doing similar things."

--Speaking of Oiwa, there's Kiyomiya, and Kiyomiya is also one of the wrestlers that Ogawa taught...

Ogawa: "I taught Kiyomiya too, but he's gone in a completely different direction, and there's quite a gap between him and Oiwa. Oiwa is on a higher level. There's a difference between a wrestler who's happy beating a rookie in the first match and a wrestler who wins the G1, right? Well, we're talking about Oiwa, so let's leave Kiyomiya aside."

--Finally, if you have any words of encouragement for Oiwa, we'd appreciate it if you could give them to us.

Ogawa: "I think he's fine just the way he is. Stay just the way you are. If anything happens, Zack is right there beside him."

Even when there's no NOAH show Kaito gets shitted on by proxy of his former tag partner. The problem with Kaito is that he's just too laid back and does whatever the company wants him to do at his detriment, the peak of which was losing to Okada the way he did and he never really was the same after. He really is the ultimate company guy and in some ways similar to Cena, but Cena had the ability to just no selling his oops by doing poo poo pee pee jokes and funny face and the crowd wouldnt take his opponent seriously. With Kaito the oops would just say and do whatever to bury him and he just takes it but with a sad angry expression which comes off like a child just coping while someone beratea them. But the idea that Kaito has been suprassed is nonsense, in the ring he is still just as good as any of the top wrestlers in Japan on a skill and technique basis and if you don't think so you have lost the plot of what pro wrestling is supposed to be. It's just that every step of the way the company decides to cut his legs out from under him the moment he gets any kind of momentum and it's been going on for years so why are people blaming him when NOAH's incompetence should be under scrutiny instead. Just look at this newest instance, a G1 winner ultimately turned into Kaito slander for no reason whatsoever. Like the company didn't even try to shoot this shit down or run it through Ogawa first not to shit on their ace.
