How can anything top this as match of the year, let alone match of the decade? It was discovering Jesus Christ for the first time.
>>21015579It was shoot one of the best matches I've seen in a long time.Back to the fundamentals, in a clean way. It felt fresh at a time when everything is flashy and overdone.
NuJamals are so raped that they pretend to like a guy who has a fucking headlock as a finisher, the grimmest of grim
>>21015661Why does this match upset you so much. Not enough flippy shit and winks at the audience for ya tranny?
>>21015664If you want to watch unnecessarily long rest holds you could also watch Randy Orton matches, but I'm sure you don't rate him since he's not Japanese lol
>>21015674Nah, this is what pro-wrasslin's supposed to look like, huh bruv
>>21015579Rare to see two niggas just insist on submitting the opponent for a full match without a submission stipulation. Both wanted to make sure they were the new top guy of the company by making the other quit. Absolute kino
>>21015675Just say you hate whimsy dude
>>21015682Just say you hate actual wrestling dude
Sorry guys. The ultimate NJPW match has already been held. It looks like this. Nothing will ever live up to the true masterpiece.
I thought trannyhashi vs okada was better
>>21015693The most influential match of all time. Meanwhile, Yuya vs Oiwa will be regarded an an anomaly in a few years time.
Why did they start having the G1 winners choose to get their title shots in October instead of the Dome
>>21015713Sure, I guess it was in the sense that it was the match that turned pretty much everything that followed to pure dog shit as they tried to emulate it
>>21015718That's how they did it pre bushiroad ownership, and it's better because it doesn't turn everything regarding the top title extremely preidctable between September and January
>>21015732This and also it makes the G1 an accomplishment on its own instead of a royal rumble style thing you need to do to qualify for a championship belt.
>>21015732I know that AJPW still does it that way after their Champion Carnival as well.
>>21015579I was mind blown when I heard the 30 minutes time call. Was transfixed on the action the entire time and didn’t even notice where the time was going. I could’ve kept watching. Everything was so purposeful, I felt like I was watching something seminal or historic. A statement match from two of wrestling’s brightest and best. An arrival from two people that’ll run wrestling in Japan for the next decade, a declaration of the Noge dojo’s philosophical supremacy. Watching Yuya succumb to the headlock in THAT match felt like watching your kid miss the last shot of a 2OT game that he had 50 in. It’s heartbreaking but at the same time there’s no doubt in me that he’s gonna get back here, and having that level of investment in that result is what makes me feel alive as a wrestling fan. That was a match steeped in drama and emotion. It was a chance for me to jump back on to the rollercoaster, rather than observe it, and the accompanying highs and lows from a distance. Sports in its purest essence. Exhilarating victory, crippling defeat. Respect earned through intense competition.
>>21015734No it doesn’t. You’re still having to win a Royal Rumble-esque match to qualify for a championship belt. Now you’re just getting the match at a random podunk show instead of the biggest show of the year.
>>21015748Chat GPT ahh post
>>21015750NTA but why would someone use ChatGPT to express an opinion on the anonymous chat board anon. You faggots who accuse everything of being AI are shitting up the place.
Last should get Cornette to watch it if he can turn off grift mode for half an hour. It’s two Asian guys so I’m sure he’d find some reason to hate it.
>>21015768He has not been genuinely reviewing new wrestling for a long time, he's just doing his gimmick to draw money.
>>21015661>How can you like a match without flips? I don't understand!t. AEW Fan.>>21015675I like how Jungle Jackoff has Okada for like a 20 count pin but the ref doesn't count until the Old-Ass Bucks slowly stumble their way into a fruit roll-up too.
for those who don't know this guy is a full time /njpw/ poster kek>>21015661a mindbroken bitch who hates his own promotion
>>21015760He's just Indian. He thinks anything that writes in complete sentences is AI.
>>21015579It was fuckin awesome because it made perfect sense. I got a bit sour on the New Japan style of false finish exchanges a little while when Takeshita had the title, but this was just great. You got a guy with massive biceps specializing in a headlock vs a flashy athletic stud who can work his way out of the headlock into wristlocks and can bust out aerial moves when needed. And they got over with the crowd by doing straight up wrestling. Top tier, happy for both lads.
>>21015768The only wrestler he has some interest in since Danielson quit is Gunther. Not gonna happen.
>>21015768there is zero interest in listening to jim's commentary on current wrestling because it always comes from a place of bad faith and carnieism, even when he's correct. especially wrestling that he associates with people that he doesn't like. if anything i'd be more curious about doing rewatches with him, like having him comment on 2010 ring of honor when he was booking davey richards and eddie edwards in the main event.
>>21016852That would actually be interesting. I wonder if he would be able to admit that Steen was better than that vanilla midget trinity he was pushing back then
>>21015579*glass shatters*
>>21018242>Romanetty>MOTYsure pal
Great match. Lived up to the hype for me, which doesn't happen often nowadays.
The flip police heckin' loved this match I thought it was pretty good I guess
THE LOONEY TROONS ARE ALREADY SEETHING HARDTHEY WANT DAVE TO RATE IT BELOW 3 STARS
>>21018382It's a whole generation that's been trained to think that >>21015693 is what wrestling is supposed to look like. They see an honest-to-god match that would have been considered a good match back in the day and their brains can't handle it because their tastes have been trained on shit.
>>21018382prove it
>>21018422Grip it.
