How was Paul able to convince the ECW audience of all people that this guy was legit enough to be the top guy of the company? Not only that but even tons of WWF fans at the time bought into this guy being credible at least initially. This is low-key one of the greatest psyops done to wrestling fans of all time and it does not get the noticing that it should be getting.
>>21016573It was the credibility of the promotion around Taz, which Heyman can built up, that gave Taz credibility by proxy when Heyman gave him the push.>wow. ECW is full of hardcore nutjobs, if this guy can hang, he's GOTTA be toughblah blah
>>21016602It wasn't just the promotion's credibility that helped him. Even in the earlier days of ECW Paul always pushed Taz as a badass. Just with a more primitive islander kind of gimmick that wrestled barefoot. And the ECW fanbase was brutal. If they thought you were a shitter they wouldn't hesitate to let you know. Yet they bought 100% into the idea of Taz being a badass who could shoot beat probably most or all of the locker room at the time and could easily go toe to toe with anyone from the rival promotions.
>>21016573Paul got 911 over. He was that good at selling wrestlers to his audience.
>>21016573People don't give Tazz enough credit for his promos back then. He made you believe he was one of the toughest despite being short, the Brooklyn accent helped him a lot with selling thathttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HarZ1OGbB8M
He was booked well. He looked good. He did good promos. He had a cool theme and he had cool merch too. I still have a Taz shirt sitting around.
>>21016976>I still have a Taz shirt sitting around.yeah fitting for a chronic fatass KWAB
>>21016983That’s not very nice.
