Problem is now they go back to doing random six man tag matches for a few months before the next big PPV. New Japan has always been good but it's only a few events every year.

Destruction tour looks kinda weak, though. Let's see what they do after that

Only the big shows are really meant for mass consumption though. Those smaller shows are technically house shows that are just made available so people get their money's worth out of their NJPW World memberships - only the semi final and main events are usually worth watching.
Which is what many people don't get about New Japan itself and why more folks should watch it. Yes, there's good matches, but it's not produced for the "sickos". It's put on for casuals with limited schedules for watching this stuff. You have one main show a month you have to watch to stay "caught up" and the rest is just background viewing that, if you miss, you're probably not missing out on anything important.
Not every second is meant to be riveting.

It's hard to get behind anybody in a system that teaches you to only care about what's happening once a month, especially now that the in-ring work (the main draw for me) just isn't what it was a decade ago

>only a few events every year
>dont have to watch every week
Sounds based to me

I treat it like normal sports, personally. Like I said, I'll put shows on in the background, tune in and out as they go along, really only give more attention to the semi and main. Big shows get more of my attention.
It's more of a relaxed thing than something I have to pay constant attention to or else I'm going to miss something spectacular. I shit on AEW but I can understand the appeal of it. For me part of the problem is that it's just too much too often - but people watch it for that and I respect that too.
