The biggest issue with WWE is exactly that it's way too overproduced. This has been known for a long time. AEW on the other hand is too much in the other direction. These guys don't need to listen to anyone and the stuff we see is a bunch of mismashed ideas by a bunch of dorks that don't care about drawing or making stuff make sense to the viewer. Edge may have been boring as fuck in WWE by the end, but he didn't actively suck ass like he does in AEW.
