Pro-wrestling was always about the thrill of guys hurting each other though. Even in the West, guys often worked stiff and did shit that really hurt. Yes, it was cooperative to a degree, but it was more in the, "Okay, we're going to do this but I'll do my best to do it in a way that doesn't kill you," sense than the obviously working together sense we see today.
