Uncs who grew up watching monday night wars. Did some of you liked WCW a little bit more when it was hot than attitude era?
>>
>>21133446
stop using negrobabble, you're a 50 year old White man
>>
>>21133450
this unc deadass seething ong
>>
>>21133446
I liked some wrestlers, but mostly preferred WWF, as a lil jimmy duringvthe attitudeera. I couldn't stand Russo's WCW thoughbeit, lil bro
>>
>>21133446
yes of course. whichever one was better each week was the one i liked more. what a concept huh
>>
>>21133446
Yeah, I preferred WCW up until about 2000 and didn't watch much WWF at all. The times I checked it out I bounced off of it.
You really have no idea how heavily Vince buried WCW and its legacy over the years if you weren't there. It wasn't perfect but it was great. Up until that last year or so, at least - at that point, WWF really was better.
>>
>>21133446
>>21133516
I should add that, personally, I preferred WCW at its peak over WWF even when I did start watching it. But WCW was dying at that point.

Goldberg defending the US title against Scott Hall then defeating Hogan for the world championship belt on the same night is one of the most memorable wrestling moments for me.
>>
>>21133446
Each show had a different feel. WCW was better at some things and WWF was better at others. You could feel WCW start to lag and feel cheaper as 1998 WWF slowly pulled ahead, though.
>>
I think I liked WCW more until 1998 then I liked WWF more after. WCW had all the old WWF stars and all kinds of newer cruiserweights who were amazing. But the WWF had the bigger stars and everything mattered more.

I loved ECW too. It was just unbelievable as someone who was used to 1990's WWF wrestling. Everyone was so much more aggressive and vicious.

Wrestling was so hot during that time. You could not go anywhere or do anything and not see something wrestling related.
>>
>>21133720
WWE didn't have bigger stars in 98. DDP was hotter than anyone outside of Austin in 98.
>>
I was an omegamark for goldberg to the point where I didn't really make the jump to WWF with my dad until goldberg returned in 2003 (and then cause I was still only like 9 years old at the time I eventually became a john cena mark instead cause goldberg's WWE run fucking sucked, yes I'm still mad about the summerslam elimination chamber match)
>>
I was a WWF mark and didn't really watch WCW. I caught it once or twice, even managed to find ECW too.
>>
>>21133446
I would switch between WCW and WWF depending on what was on. Big Bossman vs Al Snow? Switch to Nitro. Horace Hogan vs Steve Mongo McMichael? Back to Raw. Also the first hour of Nitro was on before Raw started so I'd catch the based cruiserweight matches before Raw started. I liked WWF better overall but it was hard to skip DDP, Sting or Goldberg when they were on tv at the time.
>>
>>21133446
Fans didn’t console war back then. We liked all of it and appreciated that we had it.

Vince and Ted console warred with each other, but not fans.
>>
Definitely preferred WCW over WWF. WWF was retarded, and the matches extremely limited. WCW had more variety and more sports like presentation. Shame they panicked and also became retarded when the started losing in the ratings.
I don't want to watch Road Dogg, what makes you think I want to watch Buzzkill?
I pretty quickly became an ECW and Japan guy, and later an indie guy when they became popular enough to pirate.
By no means the normal fan route, but I've always done things different.
>>
>>21133745
>I eventually became a john cena mark
I want to apologize for how my generation treated you and John Cena.
>>
>>21133446
nothing was better than 1996-97 WCW. the nWo felt actually dangerous
>>
>>21133446
I'd flip back and forth depending on who/what was on. Remote controls did exist back then.
>>
>>21133819
Yes they fucking did. It was always eDrones too. So happy when WCW failed, always saying WCW was nothing but washed up hasbeens then go apeshit when they jumped ship. The match between Booker T and Buff is all the fucking proof you need. Those piece of shit eDrones wanted people's careers to end just because it wasn't WWE.
>>
>>21133446
what did wcw and wwf fans call each other instead of trannies and dronies?
>>
>>21133516
I liked Nitro more than RAW up until about the end of 99. WWF PPVs were better hyped as must-watch wrestling though.
>>
>>21133446
I watched because it was a bunch of 80s and 90s wrestlers I liked as a kid. I stayed for nWo and the Nitro Girls. Heavily based on the Nitro Girls...
>>
>>21134256
People of the 90's weren't as lifeless and gay as /pw/ is
>>
>>21134256
While we had the internet and wrestling forums obviously existed, that really wasn't where you'd normally chat with fellow wrestling fans.
They were usually people we knew, so we didn't call each other jack shit.
>>
>>21134256
nothing. they were on at the same time so if you didnt like Raven youd turn the channel to RAW, if you didnt like DX you'd turn the channel to Nitro
>>
>>21133720
ECW felt edgy and dangerous back then, the suspension of disbelief for if shit was real or worked was stronger I think... You knew it was a work but they'd put that fleeting doubt in your mind from time to time and that was cool. And the way their ring sounded was great too. If you were an ECW fan you'll always have the sound of them running the ropes and then doing some big high impact spot in your memory. BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM - BOOM BOOM - BOOM BOOM BOOM THOOOOOOOM

>Horace Hogan vs Steve Mongo McMichael? Back to Raw
as a non-oldfag who watched through the Monday Night Wars while sick a few years back, I can tell you Mongo matches are 100x more charming than the average WWF midcard shit of the time
He looked like he was having the time of his life out there
>>
>>21135018
This. The console warring back then was waaaaaaay more tame. You had loyalists and you'd get "WCW SUCKS" "WWF IS GAY" shit sometimes but not shit like people accusing each other of being pedos or rapists or wishing death on each other and the weird bullshit that goes on today.

As anon said most fans just watched one, if it was a segment you didn't like you hit the recall button on your remote (any wrestling fan back then had the two channels programmed on that recall button on Monday nights) and you'd flip back and forth. Nitro came on an hour earlier so youd watch that until RAW came on.
>>
>>21133446
I was a Yankee from the north and preferred WCW but once you had Wolf Pack and all these derivative NWO groups it became unwatchable
>>
>>21133446
WCW wrestlers had more aura but worse matches.
>>
>>21133446
>Did some of you liked WCW a little bit more when it was hot than attitude era?
If this post was any more Indian, it would have eve teased a female tourist and had to have been escorted back to the boys only side of the shitting street party.
>>
>>21135156
you also had the Nitro rerun at 11 or 12 at night
>>
>>21135343
only in the main event during the Nitro era, and that wasn't always the case. DDP/Savage was a main event for example
but WCW had far better matches up and down the whole card until the decline, there's no contest especially when it comes to tag team stuff and variety
>>
>>21135621
>doesn't think Disco Inferno and La Parka had aura
>>
>>21135730
Podcast Glenn isn't even in the same stratosphere of based as OG La Parka, get a clue

Always enjoyed the cruiserweights going first to open up the show. I just hated when commentary would just talk about the top card while they were wrestling.
>>
>>21136172
Yeah they'd largely ignore them and talk about the main event and whatever top card feuds were going on
>>
>>21133456
He's got a point. Stop typing like a faggot.
>>
>>21133446
I was, am and will continue to be a gigantic Sting mark and WCW was wrestling to me for the longest time. I didn't get into WWE until I found out about Stone Cold and started flipping between the two.
>>
WWF was always better.
>>
I don't recall seeing a wcw match that i thought was worse than a wwf match. nor have i seen a wwf match that i thought was better than a wcw match.
>>
>>21133446
I liked WCW till about 99
then switched over to WWE.
>>
>>21133819
lol yeah they did. It was just slightly different.
>>
>>21134256
in the 90s if you spoke about trannies 24/7 people would rightly assume you were a deeply closeted faggot and bully you senseless
>>
>>21136631
People didn't even call them trannys back then, we just called them drag queens or maybe transsexual but even then when you said it you generally meant a man who got off on dressing in women's clothes, not people eating bottles of estrogen and cutting their dicks off.
