I finally upgraded because the game was on sale for Labour Day or w/e. I heard the mod scene is pretty bad. Any you would recommend? I heard the 92 one is good (a bit before my time) and 2004 (which might be cool because I was in the mood for a TNA save)

yeah the mod scene declined from the previous but 92 mod is unironically the gold standard of tew mods. it has insane depth and detail so you can play for years in game with real worker debuts. 2004 is good if you wanna do tna. there's also a 2001 mod with shane o'mac owning wcw. of course you can always import data from other mods if you can't find someone specifically you think is missing.

92 Mod has Parker Boudreaux in it so it's automatically good. Great to see detail all the way up to the Modern Era even when most Players will never reach that point.

i like cornellverse

Is the Effgenic mod still around? I remember enjoying starting in 1920, I think, and having an original world grow out of nothing

just play c-verse. Fictional mods are objectively better

92 and 04 are the best ones.
You will have to edit the 04 one if you want make it more realistic, also unless you give him a negative relationship with Vince, Kevin Nash will always sign a contract with WWE shortly after you start the game.
There's a good 96 mod. That does ECW really well, and I wish more mod makers would take lead from it when making mods with regional or territory promotions.
And the Here Comes the Money Mod is also good (what if Shane shoot bought WCW) and can easily be edited into a 2001 mod by deleting WCW and putting the contracted WCW contracted wrestlers where they ended up.
There's also a 2011 summer of punk mod, but IMO everyone needs their overness adjusted, Top WWE guys like Cena only go up to 70, and the indie guys are barely over anywhere but the tri state area.
And there are two people actively making modern mods, personally I don't care for them because when I make my dream roster everyone is in their 40s and 50s.

Oh and there's an 85 mod, which is perfectly playable if you don't care about Japan.

Worth getting? For context, I used to play EWR way back in the day but never got into the TEW games.

depends if you feel like EWR was too simple and just want more stuff to do.

Angles are weird. You basically pick what someone is doing and then I guess you fill the rest in with your head. So like if you want Jeff Hardy to have his promo interrupted and then get tossed off stage by Kane, you would do part 1 set Jeff Hardy to character development or cutting a promo, then part 2 Kane is the attacker, jeff Hardy is the victim and then under agent note you put that Jeff Hardy is going to do a stunt bump.
It also makes it easier to do traveling shows cause you can preset which location shows are going to take place in and if you do it manually it will tell you when the last time you ran a show in that area.

I've not played it yet because I'm waiting for a new laptop to arrive but I spent a lot of time with 2020. People who have only played EWR complain it's too time consuming but once you get the hang of it, you can book a show in 10 minutes. I just turn off a lot of the booking penalties and make sure most of the saves I do are set to the Ruthless Aggression product and it becomes a doddle and a more in depth EWR. If you play it as intended it can be frustrating, but I just like to fantasy book. I've heard XI is more time consuming but this cheat sheet should help me apparently
