The sub-10 minute long TV match is a real lost art in wrestling nowadays and it's sorely lacking in the structure of all the weekly shows. Niggas don't know how to pace their outings anymore, they seem like they're under this constant pressure to stretch the length of their matches further than they need to be.

Take this for example: UAMFBN vs Tajiri from 2003. A fun match that
>maintains the crowd's interest and works their excitement all the way through
>has a clear character dynamic evident to the most out of the loop viewers, with some added striking visuals
>has about 3-4 clever spots that utilize each wrestler's characteristics
>makes you believe in the upset in a logical way
>doesn't waste time in overindulgent bs and lets you know why these guys are here in the first place
>gets both of them more over by showcasing their strengths
>ties it with a current feud
>has a hot bitch ringside for eye candy
>impure strikes for once
All this in about 9 minutes

It's perfect, really.

the wrestling in WWE has always been terrible, even during the attitude era. no one has ever denied that.

Just watch AEW

A few other solid short tv matches:
>Flair vs Lawler, 2004. These two old fucks school everyone on how to make the most out of a seemingly unexpected matchup and perfectly communicate their standings in less than 10 minutes

>Kane vs Beeg, 2006. Classic mat wrestling clinic from these guys. It makes sense in their dynamic as a tag team getting to wrestle around for a little bit until Kane's May 19th shit turns up. Anybody who trashes this is a retard.

>Paul London vs Jimmy Wang Yang, Velocity 2005. They distill the essence of the indierriffic RoH style into a great short match that put them on the map.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHp7rKlKkqE
>Chris Masters vs Drew McIntyre, Superstars 2011. They proved the importance of having a C show by utilizing this opportunity to get a sizeable crowd invested in their match despite none of its members having paid money to see them, all because they wanted to prove a point

I just really like this meat-and-potatoes approach to wrestling that avoids being overly monotone and vanilla, an issue common with many 80s territory shows.

I think that's overblown. A lot of matches were horribly undercut by DQs and interferences and all that bs during peak Russo era WWF, but the midcard got more solidified by the time he left.

I'm not into 22 minute long Jack Perry vs Mike Gayley bouts and eliminator matches, brother. And if a guy i like shows up, he'll probably be off tv again for the next three weeks without much consequence on his place as a character in a tv show. TK's stop-start matchmaking lobby style of booking is frustrating. I wish he'd use the TNT belt for its true purpose.

Spike Dudley is the epitome of a fun tv wrestler. I don't really expect to see him having singles epics on the big cards but if he shows up on tv i'll rub my hands and know i'll have a good time. I know he did have that feud with Bam Bam on PPV but you get the point.

I really love the cruiserweight matches they always started first on Nitro.

I liked when Paul Heyman was booking him to squash big fat guys. He'd come in the ring, kick the guy in the balls do the Acid Drop, and win with a one foot pin.

I've posted this a couple times on here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Mu9E5wvf5U
This was the kind of match that would make you switch to RAW when it happened. In 2026 it's a breath of fresh air.
I'll also add something these new wrestlers don't want to hear, if you can't have a good 6 minute match, you're not going to have a good 16 minute match.
