They're actual evil people who would smile to your face, give you a hug, and loan you some money you need one day and absolutely turn your ass inside out to get it back the next, if not worse.Understand that it's meant to be a commentary on human nature and evil and you might enjoy it more. Chase intentionally leaned into writing these characters worse and worse every season because fans weren't getting it and thought they were supposed to be likable on some level. It's one of the most brilliant shows ever written, alongside The Wire.

She could have gotten "justice" but decided not to lower herself to Tony's level.But I'm with you, her being raped made it so the audience would have completely gotten it and wouldn't seem like it was lowering herself. The guy got off completely free, so some stret justice would have been seen as ok. You can argue it was so she wouldn't be involved in anyway and she would have owed tony after, but I think the whole thing would have been better if it was like a hit an run or robbery where she lost some treasured item. Not as tempting to turn to Tony, I know, but not so bad that everyone wanted her to do it anyway. Though I suspect that was the point as David Chase loved to make fun of fans who enjoy mob drama (like Melfie's own therapist)
