I hate Tony and I hate the Sopranos

He's an unlikeable cunt to everyone and everything, literally Karen behavior and the mopes that He's miserable all the time

The only guy I like is Silvio everyone else sucks ass
>>
>>21149811
>I hate the character you're supposed to hate
Charles Schwab ova hea!
>>
>>21149811
You're so close to getting it though.
You're not supposed to like them. They're mafiosos. Bad guys. Not ironically bad guys who put on a tough front but have hearts of gold. They're actual evil people who would smile to your face, give you a hug, and loan you some money you need one day and absolutely turn your ass inside out to get it back the next, if not worse.
Understand that it's meant to be a commentary on human nature and evil and you might enjoy it more. Chase intentionally leaned into writing these characters worse and worse every season because fans weren't getting it and thought they were supposed to be likable on some level. It's one of the most brilliant shows ever written, alongside The Wire.
>>
Tony 'Big T' Khan.
>>
>>21150299
My only problem with Chase was his ''resolution'' to that rape angle he wrote. That was stupid.
>>
>>21149811
i hate sopranos because it's therapy & toxic masculinity woke propaganda
>>
>>21147561
Bully Ray
>>
>>21150478
The show makes fun of the hypocrisy of therapy though, and it doesn't work in the end.
Did you guys even watch the thing or do you just shit on it because you think doing so is edgy and cool?
>>
>>21150487
I watched one season, it's obvious what they were trying to say
men are toxic and need to go to therapy
>>
>>21150507
Kek, no dawg. You need to watch more than just the first season, trust me.
Tony isn't toxic because he's a man. He's toxic because he's in the fucking mafia. And by the end of the show the therapist realizes that the therapy only served to make him a more effective sociopath.
>>
>>21150517
And the therapist herself would have fallen for him eventually.
>>
>>21150507
So you don't know
>>
watching the sopranos in anything but a comedic lens is a terrible way to watch
>>
>>21150614
She was starting to but dropped him as a client because he's a fucking mob boss.
Not a guy with criminal leanings who secretly has a heart of gold. A stone cold mob boss that does awful things to people and can't be fixed, certainly not by "therapy."
>>
>>21150631
Gotta agree. It's extremely quotable and funny when taken in the right spirit. And you have to laugh because otherwise it's dark as shit.
It's also a great character study. But what you can't do is watch it as a show where you're actually rooting for this people. Because they irredeemable and the whole point of the show is to remind you of that again and again.
>>
>>21150637

Sopranos is a dark comedy drama. It manages to be both a funny look at the mafia as well as tragic character studies.
>>
>>21150756
Second guy here - 100%.
Also just incredibly fucking quotable, as most good mafia stuff is.
>>
>>21149811

It was to show how Melfie really is better than Tony and how she's able to resist the very easy temptation of telling tony what happend and letting him sort it out. She could have gotten "justice" but decided not to lower herself to Tony's level.

But I'm with you, her being raped made it so the audience would have completely gotten it and wouldn't seem like it was lowering herself. The guy got off completely free, so some stret justice would have been seen as ok.

You can argue it was so she wouldn't be involved in anyway and she would have owed tony after, but I think the whole thing would have been better if it was like a hit an run or robbery where she lost some treasured item. Not as tempting to turn to Tony, I know, but not so bad that everyone wanted her to do it anyway. Though I suspect that was the point as David Chase loved to make fun of fans who enjoy mob drama (like Melfie's own therapist)
>>
>>21151074
>The guy got off completely free
And he got away with the crime too
>>
>>21147625
Howso?
>>
>>21150677
His quads looked like shit.
>>
>>21150476
>>21151074
Plus at that point Chase was intentionally shining on the audience because, while they obviously loved the show, they didn't really get it. He wasn't trying to glorify the mob. So when the audience wanted things, he delivered the exact opposite.
He was the anti-TK, really. And that's why his booking worked.
>>
>>21150507
You are legit retarded.

Go back.
You want it to be one way, but it's that other way.
>>
>>21150517

It just happens to equate all masculine traits with being in the mob.

Doesn't matter the intent tho, Chase is a hack and accidentally made a great show: Tony is always right about every retarded stance his daughter takes takes(like niggers) and she gets poetically punished everytime.

By the end it shows that therapy doesn't work which is big based; even taking jabs at therapists the whole time with Melfi knowingly taking blood money for years.

What's the wrestling equivalent of Paulie and Chrissy unloading 4 clips worth of bullets into Mikey
