>>21246720He's a Scott Hall type in the sense that he'd obviously have been a main event guy if not for constant mess ups with substances. Used to tag with HHH, great promo, great worker, he and Tajiri were more over than Reigns is now. The heel vs heel they setup with Triple H over Eugene was great, but he just couldn't stay clean.
McMahon wanted to put the belt on him but he kept fucking it up with his substance abuse problems, many such cases.

Regal was a great comedy heel as the commissioner during the attitude era but when you get to the mid-2000's his promos never got the heat you'd see with Edge or JBL. Personally I would have still booked it out of curiosity but I don't think there was a chance Vince McMahon was having a 40+(?) year old Brit actually win the belt.
