what's going on with "all ego" ethan page's main roster run?his NXT run was can't miss TV. even when he was in the midcard (the majority of his tenure there), he was often the highlight of the show. his NXT north american championship run, the longest ever, is arguably the best reign in the title's history, most would place it alongside wes lee and oba femi's reigns. when he was briefly paired with chelsea, it was like lightning in a bottle. he's proven that he's an excellent heel promo that can get a feud hot and deliver a fantastic match to close it out.but on the main roster, things have been weird. he was babysitting an ice cold rusev in the forgotten tag scene before rusev's neck injury, he himself apparently made the call to get rid of the "eeeeegoooo" in his theme song so that it wouldn't get over, and the promos they've been giving him have been largely weak, meandering and aimless, failing to get over or hit hard like they did in NXT.he's wrestled his NXT nemesis je'von evans a few times, but they never really tapped into the NXT connection and it hasn't become a full on feud yet. they've teased him maybe going after chad gable's IC title, but he hasn't challenged for it yet. that could be the way the IC lineage unfolds, gable to ego to bouncy, but i don't see gable dropping it til mania at least. so i don't know, can he sit on his ass til saudi arabia? maybe they should send him to smackdown to further restore the codyverse, to be with ricky and chelsea.

Now he's in the same ditch as Karrion Kross, where's he's the ultimate unfulfilled potential man but can't get moving because he doesn't have enough backstage segments or ring time or like you said, not enough prep presentation to why his old feuds in NXT would matter. Kross spend a year just hanging around backstage talking shit and changing hair styles and though a portion of fans found it funny and entertaining, there was a significant lack of in ring presence and directionAll this happens because the writers are fixing and replacing broken plans with inflating that ones that are still running - you know, instead of giving Ethan more targets to go after, like imply he sabotages someones matches etc. just to keep the presence meaningful.

>>21259469They're doing the same thing they always do to anyone they don't immediately have a hot angle for, let them get acclimated to the main roster, have them put some people over, make them more versatile by giving them different roles, then when something comes up they get a push and a spotlight on them like a year later. Right now Gable is hot, Penta is hot, etc. When it's time for someone to take a step back they'll put new guys in and see if they can deliver.
