post the absolute worst commentary teams ever put together What was Vince fucking thinking here?
Yeah Gorilla was terrible and horribly exposed when Bobby wasn't with him, and only had a job because he was Vince Sr.'s right hand man.
>horribly exposed when Bobby wasn't with himVentura and Gorilla was superior though
>>21274857lawler and vince together during the mid 90s had to the worst commentary team i've ever hadabsolutely zero chemistry and painfully awkward to listen to.
>>21275392Gorilla also had shockingly good chemistry with Johnny Polo.
>>21275449Raven probably would have been the defining commentator of the Attitude Era if he hadn't gone coke-hunting with Shane.
>>21274857This was worse
>>21274868>Yeah Gorilla was terrible and horribly exposed when Bobby wasn't with himnot true. michael cole & mike adamle were much worse
>>21274857Hearing Schiavone in 89-90 WWF will never feel odd. I always associated his voice with southern turner network wrasslin and his chemistry with Body and Gorilla always felt strange
Cory Graves and Mauro Renallo
I remember Renee Young being pretty bad, she would just go "OW!" and "JEEZ!" while Cole and Graves argued.
>>21275501this is easily the worst
>>21275933Hearing Jim Ross around the same time must be wild for you aswell
>>21276130Do people legitimately like Pat McAfee? He’s literally nails on a chalkboard to me.
>>21276145No matter how bad Renee could have been, this fuckin dweeb was 10x worse. He used to say some of the dumbest nickelodeon level shit on commentary and made everything seem so stupid. Fuck Otunga.
there were quite a few bad ones on SD! in the gap when jbl was gone. i think there might have been a josh matthews/matt striker team.
>>21276393I have that exact same cardigan.
Michael Cole with anyone. Fuck Michael Cole.
Remember the commentary team got Virk'd?
>>21276633who in the fuck is that?
>>21276162Think Elvira got to see the Lord's propeller?
1. Vince McMahon and Rob Bartlett — the gold standard for broadcasting incompetence. Bartlett sounded like a jackass who wandered into the arena looking for a comedy club, while Vince laughed along while also still laying the foundation for "sports entertainment" style commentary, meant to further turn pro wrestling into a circus.2. Vince McMahon and Bruno Sammartino — Bruno was a wrestling god, but behind the desk he sounded like a furious but tired grandfather narrating the collapse of civilization. Vince would scream about a maneuver; Bruno would mumble and say things like "golly gee" at the site of the business changing before his eyes, only there to still get a paycheck.3. Jim Ross and Excalibur — one guy is past his prime and also has obvious disgust for the excesses and lack of logic in modern wrestling, the other sounds like a masked cocksucker who escaped from a haunted anime convention. JR is like "what's that, that guy doing now?” while Excalibur explains the wrestler’s tournament history, shoe size, and spiritual connection to a vending machine in Osaka. It’s not commentary. It’s a neurological event.4. Mike Adamle and Tazz — Adamle sounded like the match was being described to him by a dying Bluetooth speaker. Tazz had the exhausted rage of a man trapped in an elevator with a raccoon.5. Michael Cole and Jonathan Coachman — two corporate sports entertainment shill boys making a steel-cage match sound like a quarterly earnings call. A man could be thrown through a flaming table and Coachman would somehow make it feel like mandatory workplace training.6. Eric Bischoff and Larry Zbyszko — one sounded like he was selling condos in a bankrupt city; the other sounded personally offended that wrestling existed.
>>21277303Thanks Grok
Bruno and Abrams was probably worse than Bruno and Vince, but did have more unintentional comedy.
>>21276130Cole has been ruined by 2 decades of Vince in his ear
>>21275913Didn't Adamle do commentary with Tazz? That's my pick.
>>21276907>Adnan Virk>Kevin Patrick>Jimmy SmithJust Vince's fixation of hiring announcers from non-wrestling backgrounds, I think all of them were in 2021.
>>21277398Yes, even an AI thing had them 4th worst
>>21276778The best modern commentary team.
>>21276393Otunga's "No Chin Music" line for Ellsworth more than made up for the rest of his shitty commentary
>>21277383Cole has always been shit. Somehow he got worse.
>>21277402>Kevin Patrick>Jimmy SmithI liked these guys.
>>21275501I like Scott Hudson and I liked Mark Madden on WCW. But they were fucking horrid on Nitro.
>>21276393Okay but what did Rikishi tell him..
