>[NOAH] Naito on October’s “promotional war” with former home New Japan: The meaning behind “I don’t care whether we win or lose”

>NOAH GHC Heavyweight Champion Naito Tetsuya (44) spoke about the outlook for the promotion’s “attendance war” with NJPW.

>Naito is set to make his first defense against OZAWA, winner of the singles league tournament N-1 VICTORY 2026, at Ryogoku on the 25th. Having lost to him in a singles match at Ryogoku in May, Naito said at the press conference on the 5th, “I want to beat OZAWA at the same Ryogoku and then shout it: ‘De Japon.’” He vowed to get his revenge.

>OZAWA had mocked the way Naito currently moves in the ring, but during a media scrum Naito took it in stride, saying, “I think it’s a good thing to have a wrestler nearby who will say things like that. In fact, if there’s anything that bothers him, I’d rather he report every single thing to me.”

>At NJPW’s Ryogoku show on the 12th, the same “champion vs tournament winner” setup as this V1 defense will see IWGP Heavyweight Champion Tsuji Yota face G1 Climax winner Oiwa Ryohei. Naito deliberately did not enter this year’s N-1 because he wanted to compare the two promotions’ attendance figures at the same venue.

>Now that the cards for both promotions have been finalized, Naito said, “I really feel the value in facing [OZAWA],” while calmly analyzing the attendance battle: “There may end up being quite a big difference.” He continued, “But I think the point is to look properly at the current gap and then say, ‘All right, let’s overtake New Japan.’ So honestly, I don’t care whether we win or lose in terms of attendance. If something I say can make even a few NOAH wrestlers start feeling that they want to surpass New Japan and become number one in the industry, that’s enough.” He expressed hope that the wrestlers in the promotion would be spurred into action.

>The outsider champion is bringing an “uncontrollable” jolt to the Ark.

That's nice to hear. I'm about 8 or 9 hours from extraction. I briefly felt some minor pain when eating ice cream several hours ago, but it's mostly fine so far. I just keep taking my meds and icing my cheeks regularly. Took a while for the bleeding to subside, but I think its been slowing down.

>Good morning now

Taniguchi's note:

>Once again, thank you very much to everyone who came out yesterday.
>Even after announcing yesterday that I would be retiring, I stayed and watched the matches.

>There were so many incredible matches,
>and watching them made me feel that I really need to fire myself up for my own retirement match too.

>As for my retirement,
>Kobashi-san did a fine job of spoiling the news yesterday,
>but as was announced a little while ago, I have two matches remaining.

>From shortly after my debut, I was allowed to serve as Kobashi-san’s attendant,

>and from up close I learned from him the attitude of never compromising on anything as a pro wrestler.

>I’m also filled with gratitude for everything he taught me—not only about strength as a pro wrestler, but also about kindness and a sense of responsibility as a human being…

>As for why I decided to retire, it comes down to the accumulation of injuries over many years and the mental motivation required to keep fighting as a wrestler.

>Both physically and mentally,
>I felt it would be difficult to continue any longer,
>so I made the decision to retire.

>With that being the case, I’m truly grateful that I’ll be able to have my final matches in my hometown of Kurayoshi
>and at Korakuen Hall, a place that means so much to me.

>I’m grateful to everyone who has supported me up to this point,
>to all the fans who have cheered me on,
>to the wrestlers I’ve fought alongside,
>and to all the staff.

>The time I have left is limited, but in the end, I want to finish things properly in the ring, in my own way.

Has any main event talent been buried by their own promotion as constantly as Tenzan & Kiyomiya?
>>
>>21308308
seems like its common in japanese promotions
>>
>>21309285
Not at all. There plenty of guys who are on the top of the promotions, lose an important match and don't make the public feel like they are watching misery porn.
>>
>>21308308
Kaito is genuinely worse. At least with Tenzan the Suffering was only like 3 or 4 years while the promotion started rotting out as he was being buried. It's been the entire decade with Kaito whether shit was hot or cold and he's just used as Some Dude as it gets hot right now
>>
i feel like they're trying to do the Kobashi trials and tribulations with Kaito but it doesn't work because he's already been a champion and also not capable of rallying the crowd behind him as much
>>
Btw if anyone is interested Tsukamoto showed up during Taichi's promo at today NJPW show begging him to be booked to his produced show.
Reading quickly seems like Taichi helped him getting into NJPW dojo but guy failed and Taichi was telling him to gtfo but ended giving him and another young lion the pre-show match.

>[AJPW] Xyon & Odyssey make a reverse offer to competitive-eating show: “If you need real champions, get in touch”

>All Japan Pro Wrestling’s “big-eating tag team” of Xyon (36) & Odyssey (32) are plotting an appearance on a hugely popular competitive-eating TV program.

>The two, who belong to the unit HAVOC with Ashino Shotaro, attended a media tasting event for Yakinikuya Sakai at its Shinjuku Kabukicho location in Tokyo on the 7th. They repeatedly ordered beef such as kalbi and skirt steak ten servings at a time, and spent around three hours feasting while washing it down with large quantities of whisky-and-Coke highballs. Odyssey said, “It feels like the meat I eat goes straight into my biceps. It’s the ultimate power,” while Xyon declared, “Japanese yakiniku is my absolute favorite!”

>Odyssey in particular, who boasts a powerful 196 cm, 200 kg physique, says he won a chicken-wing eating contest in the United States about three years ago. He reportedly ate 110 chicken wings within the 30-minute time limit. “Partway through, they slowed down the pace at which they were bringing out the meat. I could’ve eaten more, but the restaurant couldn’t keep up with cooking fast enough for me,” he said, showing off his astonishing appetite. Xyon also confidently issued a challenge: “If there’s anyone in All Japan who wants to have an eating contest with us, we’ll take on anybody. Jun, Rei [of the Saito Brothers], Kumaarashi—anyone, bring it on!”
>>
>>21312317
>On Nippon TV’s “Ariyoshi Seminar,” wrestlers from other promotions have attracted attention by taking part in competitive-eating segments. When Odyssey said enthusiastically, “Of course I’d do it if we got an offer,” Xyon made a reverse pitch to the program: “If you need real champions, contact All Japan.”

>In the ring, it has already been announced that former WWE wrestler Cal Bloom will join HAVOC as a new member starting with the Korakuen show on the 22nd of this month. The two boasted, “The four of us will push each other to greater heights and go after every belt!” With their bottomless appetites, the heavyweight duo look ready to make their presence felt both inside and outside the ring.

>[GLEAT] CIMA wins in first appearance in a year, but… “As a freelancer, you have to turn everything into something useful”

>CIMA (48) made his first GLEAT appearance in approximately a year at the promotion’s Korakuen Hall show on the 9th.

>CIMA’s contract with GLEAT expired at the end of last year, and he left the promotion. Returning to his former home for the first time in a while, he teamed with BUSHI of Los Tranquilos de Japon (LTJ) to face Tanaka Minoru & Suzuki Kotaro.

>From the opening stages, the match featured an intricate clash of techniques among all four wrestlers, with the momentum shifting rapidly back and forth. Although CIMA found himself subjected to concentrated attacks from the opposing team, he turned things around late in the match when, while being caught by Kotaro, he received an assist from BUSHI in the form of poison mist. CIMA then finished off Kotaro with the Meteora.

>After the match, CIMA responded to BUSHI raising his fist, only to unexpectedly receive a faceful of poison mist himself. “What the hell is this?!” he shouted, before changing his tune. “Hey, this is great. As a freelancer, you have to turn everything into something useful. There might be something else happening with Los Tranquilos again soon,” he said with a mischievous grin. Turning to his former promotion, which he had just returned to after approximately a year, he added, “I still have three contracted appearances left… But not just those three. If they can make use of me in my current position, I’ll come back anytime,” leaving the door open for further appearances.
