This is the destination for all based webms, brotherOn tonight's docket: NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling, DragonGate Gate of Victory, NOAH Legacy Rise and more!
Hilarious that this looks better than basically every Death Rider that I've seen Mox perform. I really like the way he pivots to a front facelock on the way down.
Boltin and Hechicero tagging was not on my 2026 bingo card.
>>21360919Bolton manhandling Hartley was really something, especially on the finisher. Was also really impressed with some of the moves Fujita did on Aaron Wolf.
>>21360960yeah, Shingo needs to make that one of his moves
>>21361002I'm not terribly surprised by what Boltin can pull off by now, he's clearly just a monster. Fujita though, I agree. He's really strong for his size.
>>21361025I really enjoyed the Fujita/Wolf match personally and felt like Fujita did a great job getting some of the best I've seen out of Wolf so far. Wolf seems very humble and I like his personality, he's obviously got great potential to draw, and I think he'll get there eventually but he still has a long way to go before it all clicks together I think. The match made a really good case for revitalizing the NEVER Openweight division, which is where I think both guys belong at this point in their career.
>ospreay doing real movesHuh?>>21361055>felt like Fujita did a great job getting some of the best I've seen out of Wolf so farAbsolutely. I think it helps that this was Wolf's first real feud outside of the House of Torture vortex, but he really showed out in this feud. >The match made a really good case for revitalizing the NEVER Openweight divisionGod, I hope so. It's been relegated to being just a storyline MacGuffin for the longest time now. It would be really cool if it turned into a true openweight belt, but I kind of doubt it. It's really hard to make openweight feuds work in companies with set weight divisions, Fujita/Wolf is just a really fitting case where experience makes up for the weight difference.
>>21361100Shit, it's even been nice seeing Ospreay around there.I'll be honest. I've been largely tuned out of the men's side of puroresu for the past few years (I watch joshi, I've posted a few joshi clips in past threads here). I check in, of course - I've long been of a mind that men's wrestling at its best is going to be better than women's wrestling at its best (except, perhaps, in the case of 90s joshi, which was in a league of its own). But honestly I've been enjoying what I've seen as of late in both New Japan as well as NOAH and it all feels like it's worth watching again. There's direction and I have this feeling things will start getting really good again over the next few years.
>>21361121NJPW's been real up and down for me this year. I think WK was pretty great, then the whole Newman thing around the NJC kinda sucked. Then the G1 was fantastic and now WK is looking like it'll be an AEW crossover show which is concerning to say the least.NOAH's been in a weird limbo where it feels like they're building to something significant for a while now, they just haven't gotten there yet. I feel like it's up to the booking of Kaito/Ozawa/Inamura to decide how I feel about them going forward.
Love seeing Cobb try, though. If you had asked me after he left I wouldn't have said I wanted him back, but he's won me over. Maybe we're still in the honeymoon period and he's gonna midcard it up for the rest of his time in NJPW, but I really appreciate how it seems like he's been going all out in tag matches and stuff too.
Fujita's too based and/or retarded for his own good.
I checked the backstage comments to see if this move was named and the interaction between Wolf and the interviewer is fucking hilarious.>"You used a new move to finish the match.">"Yup. I have relied on the Angle Slam, but he kicked out, so I tried something new. ">"Do you have a name for it?">"No.">"Would you like to name it?">"Does it need a name?">"It would help us with documenting.">"Okay. Do you have a suggestion?">"Well, it reminded me of Goldberg's move.">"Okay. The Gold Medal, then.">"The Gold Medal?">"That's fine."
Props for what certainly has to be the most unique submission setup I've ever seen. That's the only part they get props for.
Oiwa's sell for stuff like this apron slam here is the kind of stuff that really ties his matches together and the things that put him above the rest of the roster.
"To beat a headlock merchant, you must become a foot stomp merchant"- Sun Tzu, The Art of War
I really like the style of stomps Tsuji's been doing instead of the weird standing-opponent Marlowe Crash he started with. These feel way more impactful and the sell is much more natural.
Brutal. Works really well as a snap move like this.
It's such a shame that whoever-in-charge made the baffling decision to announce the MJF challenge on the tour leading into this match, not the tour after. Sure, it's a smaller show and the title isn't exactly expected to change hands, but still. It felt like Oiwa entered with enough momentum and the match was good enough that the crowd (me included) were biting. Sucks that they took the air out of it before it began.
>>21360919What a beast
Next up's DragonGate's Gate of Victory show!
The amount of air he gets on these everytime is nuts to me.
HOLY FUCK PUNCH BROS WE ALMOST HAD HIM
Pure comedy magic to hit this on the first try.
Absolutely flawless execution.
Wee!
>>21361716that was cool
>>21363135The conversion itself is, I agree. I'd like to see more stuff that's so deliberately set up with a follow-up in mind, it always pops me. The move itself though, I don't know. I think I'd like anything else more.
I support Fuda in Gajadokuro. Especially with Minoura gone and Shimizu out for the forseeable future, he fits them well.
SKRRR SKRRRRR
It's Tristan Moody, everyone! ...And a godtier sell from Riiita.
Right on the corner too, fucking hell.
>>21360960That move was Bretty good
>>21363178Kek 10/10 action movieesque sequence that happens rarely. Downloaded.
>>21363292Glad you're enjoying the webms! Always happy when stuff I make gets saved.
>>21361054Comedy gold
>>21361144>WK is looking like it'll be an AEW crossover showBased tonedawg shitting on this guys puroresu
>>21361144>the G1 was fantastic and now WK is looking like it'll be an AEW crossover showIt's so tiresome. Ice had that promo early in the year that went viral and then he made a point of saying he didn't want to work AEW, then Tsuji had that banger G1 and he made a point of saying he didn't want to work AEW, and now here we are a few months later back in the toybox, working AEW. I really thought it was coming to an end.
Dear fucking holy Christ. I'm amazed Kzy's fine.>>21363423Yeah, exactly how I feel. At this point of the year there's usually at least one WK match or angle that makes the event a must-watch for me (I'll be watching either way, but regardless), but at this point all that's set in stone is four (4) AEW invasion matches. Not what I want to see after a G1 that established a ton of this generation as major players.
>>21363438
Good for Kato! I was absolutely not expecting it, and it helps that all of Kzy's defenses have been him eating absolute shit for 25 minutes and then squeaking out a win.>>21363448Look at the reactions of EVERYONE ringside. Kikuta is a complete nonchalant hardass every other time and he looks like he just witnessed a murder, which he just about did, to be fair.
>>21363438>>21363450based bad cop
>>21360919Haha time for the best thread of the week
I'm gonna close out with a short stroll down the King's Road! Two short ones for tonight. The first one is Kobashi vs. Kakihara from 16.07.1999. This one plays out fairly similarly to their match from a year before, only this time Kobashi has a busted nose and Kakihara has some more AJPW cred via his teaming with Untouchables. It's fun stuff. I really like the little flinch sell Kobashi does from that inital one-two palm strike combo here.
I love how Kakihara TRIES to stand and trade the AJPW way but the second he meets slight resistance he reverts completely to his UWF roots. It's cute character work.
Also cool stuff like Kobashi selling the nose despite not being directly hit. This entire match kind of depends on how well Kobashi can sell Kakihara's somewhat unconventional offense, and he (to nobody's surprise) does so amazingly.
>>21363528Tell me about Kobashi! Why does he wear the mask?!
>>21363666Because Misawa broke the FUCK out of Kobashi's nose in their title match about a month prior. I realize now I never made a webm of it when I posted the match, because it truthfully doesn't look all that spectacular when it happens. The sound is genuinely vile, though.
Oops, out of order. Love this sliding kick.
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAANINGULARIATOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Can you please do some webm's from these?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6ieUwkLzughttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L15fjoaYS54
>>21363786
>>21363703>>21363761>>21363820thanks for the bump, faggot
And finally, this is Kawada vs. Takayama from 17.07.1999. It's short and sweet and plays out mostly similar to their previous encounters. Not my favorite match of theirs, but I also don't think these two could really be bad.>>21363807Absolutely. You'll have to wait until tomorrow, but I will make you some!
Smething tells me Kawada doesn't really like this guy.
For those unfamiliar, every finish between these guys is some variation of just abject murder along these lines. Brutal. That's all for me for tonight! Tomorrow I'll hopefully have NOAH's Legacy Rise show from this week, as well as the AAA requests from today, another entry in the DG/BxB Hulk retrospective, and a walk down the King's Road to close us out! Thank you all for hanging out tonight. I'll see you tomorrow! Goodnight, bros.
>>21363954Goodnight, based webmbro.
*sip*
>>21364383Commercial break
I'm back! I'm starting out with the AAA requests from yesterday, then the Legacy Rise show.>>21363807Here you go! Hope you get something you like!
Whatever, man. Sure. The wheelbarrow swing german suplex. Why not?
Absurd dropkick sell. Kind of works, though.
These knees are so neat. Really good setup for this, I thought for sure once Namiki started struggling he would escape.
HUGE
Why does he hate him?
Kaito Kiyomiya is so persecuted
I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but Inamura tripping over Tsuruya to set up for Odashima's German attempt is cute.
Why is he like this?
Basically just Mante's sequences with Dragon Kid but at 75% speed, still pretty admirable that he can do that with Maru though.
Next up's another chapter (or two) in the DragonGate retrospective! First up is Yamato vs. Mochizuki from Dead or Alive 2011!
Really well shot.
Fujo icon Yamato but actually young is scary.
I know Mochi can put in 110% because he's running right into the ropes here, but damn, Mochi going 110% is terrifying.
>>21361544sick nasty snap on that, rough stuff
>>21362089Can you make a webm of when Oiwa took what I think was a back suplex and kept GRIPPING? I think those sequences have been my favourite of his and the crowd seems to love it, just endure and GRIP till they can't take it anymore.
>>21369286Absolutely! Have one from the Yuya match last year to hold you over while I go find the spot from the IWGP match.
>>21369286Here you go! Another reason why it was such a shame that the MJF match was teased before this, because this spot happens 3 minutes before the match actually ends and it could 100% be the finish.
>>21369326>>21369455beautiful stuff, the man got a headlock over, give him the world
If you're gonna do a tree of woe move, it's gotta be this snappy.>>21369476I've loved the headlock for as long as I can remember, as soon as anyone does the headlock dropdown while running the ropes they fly into /myguy/ tier and never leave.
GOD I love a good leg sweep. This one is particularly awesome.
Slick suplex setup.
Fucking brutal. I love how Mochi does this drop, too.
Next up's Shingo vs. CIMA from Kobe World 2013! Shingo's entrances in DG were always pure dimes.
>>21370304patriot
>>21370325who's gonna tell him
I really like Cima's facepaint in this one.
Slick.
>shingo helpfully tells the ref that he was just slapping his chest and not actually hitting him for real
The impact on this one is SO good.
The setup is a little wonky but man, that impact.
I'm closing out with Burning vs. Vader/Albright, from 23.07.1999. This is a fun one. Pants off!
Kobashi has had ENOUGH!
Love the little stutter-step Vader does here.
"The Passion of Kobashi's Nose" is one of my favorite mini-stories in AJPW.
>vader's look directly into the camera like "are you seeing this shit?"Also that duck sequence is SLIIIIICK.
That German rocks, of course, but my favorite part of this is honestly Albright's elbow. The followthrough looks so good.
That'll be all for me for this week! Next week I'll have Taichi School Pro Wrestling 2 and I'm sure something else'll pop up on my radar until then too. If not there'll be more DragonGate and King's Road to fill out the thread! I'll see you all then. Goodnight, bros.
