(I messed up the first post so ignore that.)The treasure seeker looked over the desert and his feline companion stood by his side, standing on his shadow. Under the moonlight, the large desert was a sea of blue and white that stretched far and beyond in all directions. Clouds etched on the sky, giving the horizon a dreamscape feel to it. Even so, the vast wasteland was by no means empty. “I wonder how much is out there..,” the seeker removed his hood, revealing a head full of midnight blue metallic hair and long pointy ears that twitched under the cold night wind. His two large eyes and the two smaller eyes above his brows showed a curious expression. His name was Meehraj and he was a Spiderling.Large protrusions jutted out from the desert’s sandy surfaces. Taller ones sprouting from over yonder in the horizon. He had heard many things, ranging from the remains of some giant creature, to being the remains of some vessel. Or even spires of some underground structures of the Ancients. For Meehraj, it all boils down to them being ancient ruins, ready to be explored. And treasures to be found…“Huh?” Meehraj felt some soft tappings behind his head. “What is it?”It was the tail of his companion. He was a large desert panther, known as a Night Prowler in some places. Quite a rare creature around these parts of the region. His name is Zil.“Maawwr (you’re daydreaming again),”“No I wasn’t..,” the spiderling pursed his lips.“Maawr (liar),”Zil narrowed his eyes. “Mawr (Better focus so that we can go home faster),” “Agh, fiiiine.”The seeker said no more after that. His companion was right. They got a job to do. “Hold on, what’s our job for today again?” Meehraj pulled out the scroll out of a small pack he was carrying around his waist.>Gathering some rare materials for some elixir making/forgery>Tracking a beast for tranquilize and taken back to the village>Other: (write in)

He opened said scroll and began scrutinizing the contents:Rockshrooms x 20Stardust Moss x 20Mystical Ores x 50Aside from that, there was a map on the second page, directions towards their destination.Having read all that, Meehraj whistled, his mandibles then clicked with anticipation. “Seems we got our work cut out for us,” He tugged the scroll close to his waist. “Lets get started then,”Meehraj stretched both of his arms and cracked his neck side to side. Metallic crackles sounded, bits of moonlight reflected from his hair and arms. Then he pulled his hood back and began walking down the trail, with Zil following closely. The wide sandy path slowly narrowed down the further they went, passed a rocky arch that led them to a sprawling canyon. Rocky walls surrounded them, reaching up high. Streams of sand pouring downwards like small waterfalls from some of the protrusions. Both of them then crossed a wooden bridge spanning over a small river below that runs across from one side to the other. The wood seemed old and very much used but still firm, held together by suspensions made by some sort of metal ropes. Upon quick inspection, Meehraj noticed that they were hardened metallic silks, something he and his people have the ability to produce. Moving along, the two saw traces of other people who had gone through the canyon. Some of which were familiar things he’d seen in his village. And a few others seemed foreign. Travellers and other adventurers from other parts of the desert, Meehraj imagined.“Mawwwr (Meehraj),”“What is it, boy?” Meehraj responded.“Mawwrr (Would you look at this? Scary looking cave)...,” Zil said.Meehraj looked at the large cave that appeared in his view. He then took out the scroll and compared it to the one sketched on the third page. It was the same.“Looks like we’re here,”Glittering Jaws, that’s what people called it. The large amounts of stalactites and stalagmites at the mouth of the cave made it resemble the mouth of a beast. Bluish purple light faintly spilling from the inside, through the gaps. The way inside.***Drip…drip…dripDroplets of water sounded constantly since they entered. Most felines have fur but Zil had scales instead; they stood stiff from the sudden cold in temperature. While less sensitive, Meehraj felt bits of chills coursing through his metallic skin. They’ve begun their work, starting with the Rockshrooms. True to its name, the mushrooms were (almost) as hard as a rock, with rocky textures and light beige in color. Meehraj had crawled up the cave walls, picking them up one by one. Zil was on the ground, catching the goods with his tail as Meehraj dropped them down his direction, and put them in the basket. Next was Stardust Moss. Quite easy to find them as they glow in the dark, just have to go deeper into the cave. Not that it was a problem since they will have to go deeper for the final item on the list later.
(forgot my trip in previous post)Descending deeper into the cave, the temperature was becoming colder and the air damper. Zil’s ear twitched for a moment, making him turn his head.Meehraj noticed that Zil had stopped, and asked, “What’s wrong?”Zil didn’t say anything at first. He narrowed his eyes as he looked up; there were sounds, not the friendly kind. Zil’s scales stood up on end as he began backing away towards the Spiderling, snarling with teeth bared.Something from the darkness above dropped down. Four more followed.Meehraj’s eyes went wide, startled. “Slurgs!”Slurgs were slug-like creatures, mainly consisting of a slimy body like a fat worm and a large mouth with rows of sharp teeth. Having one was like having a bug that keeps on gnawing at your skin - in the most literal sense - a painfully annoying pest. But two or three? Trouble. They were hungry and voracious creatures.Meehraj put the basket aside safely, preparing to fight. He straightened his right hand downward. Metallic vine-like strings began snaking down his wrist, around his palm and fingers before they converged into a thicker set of string, reaching the ground. A metallic whip to be exact, with a pointed end. He used his other hand to stretch it, taking a battle stance. The creatures wasted no time and began charging. Using the mucus their body naturally produced to slip and slide on the ground. Saliva blasted (i forgot the actual word) all over as they chomped their jaws away, ready to bite. The most front was the first to launch itself, only to meet against Meehraj’s metallic whip, sending it towards the wall in a splat – purple blood formed from the corpse. Two more launched themselves but Zil’s claws made short work of their lives. Meehraj then lashed his whip on the remaining two before they could do anything. One by one they were splattered on the ground, the sound of whippings echoed in the cave.“Agh, gross,” Meehraj said, taking note of his whip now covered in purple Slurg blood. “Mawwr… (hold on, listen)..,” Zil’s eyes were still slits and ears pointed up sharply.“More?”Without warning, a sounding roar came from above as something large dropped from in front of them with a loud PLOP. The ground shook slightly on its wake, causing Meehraj to stumble a little. Once he got a good view on the sudden arrival, the Spiderling’s face went pale a little.“Oh no..,”Blocking their path was what is dubbed as a Bigger Slurg, a Slurg that’s about fifteen times the size of a regular one, usually indicated to be a leader of a Slurg pack.Oh crap oh crap oh crap! The Bigger Slurg let out a sounding roar, loud enough to gently shake the grounds they stood on. Both Meehraj and Zil have their ears furled downwards from the sudden loud noise. The Slurg started gnawing as it charged for an attack. Using the large amount of slimy secretions from its body, it launched itself forward like a freight train.“Woah!”“Mwar (Eek)!”Zil jumped up high and managed to land on his feet on a boulder, now overlooking the Slurg. Meehraj on the other hand rolled and jumped to the side, barely getting scraped by the Slurg’s body. The creature wound up crashing against a rock – few stones flying all over the place. The Slurg shook its head momentarily before turning it around. Slurgs don't have eyes, rather they detect their prey through heat. A sudden flash appeared in its vision, followed by a pang of pain; its face just met with the end of Meehraj’s whip to the face.Meehraj kept on whipping as he ran circles around it, keeping it at bay, not giving the slug creature any opening to attack.Annoyed, the Slurg pointed its tail and began spraying some yellowish gas that’s very foul odour, smelling like thousands of bad eggs under the sun, making him feel dizzy and nauseous. Seeing this, The Slurg took the opportunity to knock Meehraj with its tail, sending him towards a boulder. The Slurg readied another attack when Zil leaped down on top of it and bit where the neck was. Clenching it tight as he clawed the Slurg’s back rapidly, tearing through the slimy flesh, causing lots of purple blood to gush out. What the feline didn’t expect was that the blood smelled terrible as well and had similar effects to the gas it used. The Slurg being larger and stronger, easily flung Zil off its back. Meehraj caught all of him just in time. Zil was bigger and heavier, causing his owner to land in a thud, flat on his bottom.Seemingly having an idea, Meehraj ran towards the creature, then shot his right arm forward, unleashing a string of metallic web that coiled around the Slurg’s tail. There was a tug that pulled him forward, falling face down to the ground. But his hand still held on to the web. Wobbly as he might be, Meehraj quickly stood up and, using his two extra upper spider limbs, unleashed a volley of metallic strings that coiled around the tail area. By that time, Zil had rushed to his side, watching with worried confusion and ready to assist.“Meoowar (What are you doing)?”“I-I-uggh..got a plan!” Meehraj said loudly, struggling to maintain his ground as the Bigger Slurg was a lot stronger than he expected, even with the amount of webs binding its tail.Without wasting breath, Zil, with great care, grasped the back of Meehraj’s cloak and began pulling.Meehraj resumed. “I’m keeping the tail still. Think you can slice it off?”With a glint in his eyes and extending his claws, Zil readied himself. “Mwaar (I’ll give it a shot)!”
The feline sped off forward a short way before jumping into the air. Spikes jutted out from the back of his spine as Zil rolled up, becoming like a flying spinning saw. And launched himself downwards, towards his target point, the tailbone. There was some resistance but the momentum of his speed and sharpness of his claws and spikes pierced through the soft flesh of the Slurg eventually, with a crunch of the bones, completely cutting off the tail cleanly. Meehraj fell back on his bottom, the cut tail wrapped in his webs still wriggling from spasms. The Bigger Slurg let out its loudest roar as it began writhing on the spot. Purple blood and green ooze began pooling under it. Even so, the creature was still breathing; it was facing the two with intense hatred despite the lack of eyes. With trepidation, it began charging again, this time with less coordination, just pure anger. It was no longer hungry for meat, just revenge. The Spiderling quickly tried to crawl away, before a blur sprinted from afar towards him, carrying him to another spot of the cave. “Thanks, Zil,” Meehraj petted his companion.Zil acknowledged the gesture but quickly turned his intention towards the Bigger Slurg, which had lodged itself inside the cave wall. “Meoww (What are we going to do now? How to take this thing down)?” Zil asked exasperatedly.Rummaging through his waist pack, Meehraj took out two objects about the size of his palms. It was mechanical in nature, a patch work of metals and wires and tape and resembled that of a scale of large lizards. Meehraj pressed a button in the middle of the contraptions. They extended from their initial length, revealing glowing energy from the new exposed part. “Meoww (You can’t be serious! We’re supposed to only use this in case of emergencies)!” Zil said.“I can’t make more silks at the moment; my arm and waist are hurting. You’re practically exhausted. And we got a big Slurg to dispose of or else we won’t get out here alive. Isn’t that emergency enough?”Zil opened his mouth, about to retort but ended up with nothing. His owner was right.“Get behind me,”Zil did so.Meehraj eyed the Slurg. It was still stuck. Taking a deep breath, he arched his upper body backwards slightly and, like a spring, arched back forward in an instant, throwing the contraptions like actual throwing knives. They pierced and lodged themselves onto the Slurg’s flesh with ease, garnering more spiteful roars from it. And the now stuck items began glowing.
Meehraj and Zil hurried and hid behind some sizable rocks then peeked out, just as two large explosions went off. The Slurg’s dying shrieks died out quickly as its body tore apart into giblets and fire. The two slowly got out of hiding, went to inspect the damage. Both were awed as they didn’t expect the bombs to be that powerful.“Oh! Is our stuff ok?!” Meehraj looked at the collecting bag, which was surprisingly intact, just a bit messy. He sighed in relief. The two went to retrieve it, just as a small noise came about, faint but slowly growing.“What is that…?” Meehraj didn’t like how it sounded.-ccccccccrrRRRRAAACK-Cracks began growing on the ground below them at rapid speed. Panic began taking over them. Meehraj quickly took the bag and hopped on to Zil’s back, and made their way. But the cracks were faster…The ground crumbled underneath them. “Come on! We got to–”Zil wasn’t fast enough due to exhaustion. The both of them fell downwards into the darkness…with a splash.***Underneath the dark waters, Meehraj was panicking. Zil was floating weakly, to which the Spiderling quickly grabbed his companion and swam upwards best as he could. Avoiding debris of rocks. Momentarily, he saw the ruined corpse of the Bigger Slurg sinking downwards past him.“Fuuah!” Meehraj emerged and took some air. Zil groaned, taking some air too. This place wasn’t completely dark, thankfully. Meehraj saw lit torches not too far from where he was. Their light gave shape to solid ground. With trepidation, carrying Zil on his back using his two upper extra arms as support, the both of them made it to the shore.
Meehraj put Zil down gently, before he himself laid down on his back on the ground. The feline mustered enough energy to stand up, stretching himself and shaking his body as dry as possible.“Meoow (Uh oh)..,”“What is it?” Meehraj asked.“Meeeowr (I think the bag we collected the things for the commission…it fell into the water),” Zil furled his ears, feeling guilty.Meehraj petted him. “It’s not your fault. I’ll go look for it,”Zil watched as Meehraj dove into the water. His master, his friend, belonged to a sub-tribe of Spiderlings that had affinity towards water. Good swimmers and divers. Water heals them, he remembered Meehraj saying that before. And Zil could tell that was already working. In the water, Meehraj found the bag. He was startled a bit when he was retrieving it as he saw the head of Bigger Slurg, jaws wide open, nearby.“Got it!” Meehraj announced as he got back to the shore. He looked into the bag and saw water had already gotten in, obviously.“Hope they don’t mind soggy mushrooms..,” Meehraj whimpered.Zil felt dread as well.“Meeeowrr (So, what now? Where even are we)?” Zil asked, looking around curiously as much as he could.“That’s a good question..,” Meehraj responded nervously. He had lost the lantern from earlier so the only way they could find a way out was perhaps by following wherever the torches lead to.They began climbing upwards in silence, too exhausted to say anything else for the time. It was a moment later, Meehraj noticed something.“Hey, look,” Meehraj pointed towards an opening, where bluish-lights pouring out of. “We still have to get those Mystical Ores, don’t we?”“I don’t know…How sure do you think that’s where it will lead us to?”Zil had a point. Both were exhausted from the previous ordeal. Covered in grime and blood of their wounds. He wasn’t sure how long they had been out in the desert. They need to get home or else their folks are gonna be worried. And they’re gonna get an earful…At the same time, Meehraj felt it would be a waste if their final objective was this close…Options:> Keep following the torches up the dark pathway.> Go into the cave with the blue-ish lights.
