> While every world travels slowly towards its end, yours has just begun its journey.
> For this world, the cycle of Gods and Men spins anew, on freshly birthed lands awash with life.
> You are a being of creation, a God, among the first divinities born not long after a world’s genesis. You possess innate knowledge and immense power, with which you may seize dominance and carve out a place for yourself in these savage, untamed wilds.

Welcome to a spinoff installation of Beings of Creation, a long-running tactical civ-style hexcrawl based on your imagination. You are a non-omniscient divine being of great power. You find yourself spontaneously brought into existence in a prehistoric, primeval world, untouched by Gods.
The rules are relatively simple, and may be picked up as you go, but the document below goes into detail. Most players are familiar veterans of the game, so don't be shy and feel free to ask questions.

GOD ACTIONS
Catarina
Nevasca Improved (1/?) developed.
Fermented Milk developed.
Herding shared with Lys.
Lys has gifted you Watchtowers.

Drakatron
Xaladaxa’s Vitality is now 21/31.
Secret Passages developed.
Supply Caches developed.

Ervenbloud
While it might, in ages past, have been little more than a mental exercise, in the current era trade and merchantry is undeniably one of the lifebloods of Magma Spawn society, especially in Steamside. And, as one would expect, there is little those in charge of it are unwilling to do in service of keeping that lifeblood pumping. Even spying on erstwhile allies, albeit harmlessly, is not off the table, the hoariest of the Black Wagon Order’s elders become the first in a long line of spymasters who devote their efforts to observing the ebb and flow of opinion in trade with Avadmet, determining how best those able to rest their old bones at home might profit from the whims and undercurrents of foreign markets. Espionage developed.
Unfortunately, it would seem that Volk’s initial failure has only caused him to continue spiralling. Like his previous two attempts, this spell to tame the power of the volcanoes and bind elemental to element is as doomed as its predecessors, the tenuous connection unraveling the more your Wizard attempts to grasp at it. Perhaps some R&R is in order... Volk’s Retribution Develop Spell failed, 1 Mana refunded.
Animal Sacrifice shared with tsss.
The Whisper has gifted you Balance of Humors.

Huáng
Evrozapt converted.
Though some doubt the…profoundly unorthodox method when it is first proposed by Budai, following along only out of a sense of bemused obligation, the results are undeniable, the qi core, the font of one’s vital energy, laid out for all (that have had a steamed bun smashed against their forehead, at any rate) to see. Already, several elders have begun to devise theories and cultivation methods, utilizing this newly discovered yet profoundly fundamental understanding as the basis, though their methods fall far short of one particular, extreme method. The Theory of Qi And Cores developed.
Now that that which must not be touched is properly understood, one method, undertaken under your auspices, seeks to butcher and remodel all else in pursuit. Skin is flensed from the flesh, then flesh from the bone, organs scooped out from the abdominal cavity as layers are removed from the body bit by agonizing bit before being reshaped or replaced, returned to the body profoundly changed before it is all rebound by a layer of Jold skin. Few survive the process, and even among those that do, a scarce handful are able to remain sane, the majority driven to gibbering madness by the torturous pain. But those that emerge are different, in a way that no other cultivation process allows for, their bodies not simply changed but transformed into a fundamentally different lifeform, capable of feats that even those decades their elders cannot hope to replicate. Drajon Physique developed.
The Theory Of Qi And Cores shared with tsss.
Well Digging shared with Midnight Caller.

Laqura
Building off of the miraculous pipework of Luigi, and inspired by the power of their own siphons, the Granchpolpo, once held back to the limits of the physical body, begin to reach beyond them, making use of the power of compressed water to power several different machines. Though limited largely to proofs of concept at first, it isn’t long before your people are able to find several different, more practical uses, such as powering nets capable of hauling great schools of fish from the waters of their aquaculture farms, bearing and moving weight that would have vexed even a dozen Granchpolpo. Hydraulic Machinery developed.
Another use is found in the recently expanded orchards your people have grown in clear-cut lands that had once been savage, untamed jungle. Dozens of trees laden with a bounty of different fruits, which once would have taken even a full team of workers days to clear, can now be managed by a single fruit-picker over the course of several hours, cutting jets of water allowing them to collect entire boughs of produce, and all with the arboreal traversal your aquatically-adapted people once found so troublesome. Fruit Plantation built.

Huddle Tactic developed.

Catarina has gifted you Fermented Milk.

Makrópnoos
At last, where visions had once resulted in physical and mental anguish, now lies clarity. Though a mere fraction of the capability of their Godking's own, they have come to understand the true meaning of the Fire he gave them so long ago. Determined through untold years of seeing through these flames, it is known that the conflict ahead of them is nigh insurmountable... Without keen preparation. Armed with knowledge previously thought unreachable, the designs of these weapons will bear fruit before their own conception can come to pass. Anthropodeterminism developed.
Trade Route established with Xenoq (1/2), awaiting Lunthralis Spire's end to be prepared...
Plastic Trees shared with Laurelios.
Sklēros Bone Farming shared with Laurelios.
Laurelios has gifted you Temple Decorations.
Laurelios has gifted you Organized Religion II.

The Whisper
Bulbous and hideous though it may be, this massive, diseased synthetic organ’s first breath is long and steady, air rattling through the lung as it inflates, an unholy mixture of scientific understanding and mycelial manipulation brought to full fruition and standing in stark defiance against the natural order of the world. Though it will need its twin before it is able to achieve its full potential, even its current state is an ominous harbinger of events yet to pass, crimes yet to be committed. Ceremycosis Lung built.
As horrors unseen in the history of the Listeners abound, as brother clashes against brother and the fabric of their society is rewoven to the whims of the callous ruling class, one bright spot is born of Lysandros’ benevolent nature. Though perhaps a futile endeavor, little more than a drop in the bucket given the sheer scale of life lost, no act of benevolence is truly in vain, and those who are able to find rest and respite soaking their weary, war-torn bodies are no less grateful for the mercy afforded to them. Germination Pits developed.
Balance of Humors shared with Makrópnoos.
Balance of Humors shared with Ervenbloud.

tsss
Struck by this profoundly strange sensation, of being… valued by their god (beyond being a possible target for stabbing anyways), a wave of energy buoys the Kikka in their expansion, even the harshness of the tssslands proving a poor match for the newfound determination of your people as they level their surroundings to make room for new dwellings, dwellings which climb higher than any of their predecessors as the lizardfolk draw inspiration from the recent expansion of their cultivator neighbours. Thornshade upgraded.
Though some less perceptive Kikka wonder if the name is a jab of some kind at the eldest of their kin, given the diminutive size of the insects and their lack of outwardly aggressive tendencies, others, Hahk included, recognize the compliment for what it is, given the diligence and persistence of the beetles in their tireless labour to better their homes. Not to mention the patience that allows them to, however long it takes, lay claim to their prey. Though he would still like to find out who coined the term so he can give them a good beating. Hahk Beetles created.
Ervenbloud has gifted you Animal Sacrifice.
Huáng has gifted you The Theory Of Qi And Cores.

(OOP will process this later.)

Ͼ-Arkatassus
After sleek silver comes rich, lustrous gold, this Omnitool model proving not only more effective and versatile than its predecessors, but also far more pleasing to the eye, the gilded exterior bringing the mind the auriferous warmth of the Third Sun that shines overhead to mind for many a Palladion. The harder exterior casing also by design makes the internal components far harder to get at, preventing any…unnecessary modifications without specialized equipment, not that it prevents a rebellious subculture seeking to do just that from fomenting, aspiring tech-heads attempting a variety of different workarounds so that they might customize their handheld companions. Joldlectric Omnitools developed.
After the rather lengthy recovery time the…violent induction method necessitates, your people are quick to begin deciphering, and subsequently learning to utilize, this new free-floating neural link through which comprehension of the sheer, glorious scale of the Third Sun might be conveyed with heretofore unheard of clarity. Though the cybernetics required to sustain such a link, especially to connect with those not similarly enhanced, will be more invasive than any before, that is a sacrifice your Palladions are more than willing to make in the name of brainwa-enlightening the masses! Teachings of The Sun: Cyber Century developed.

Rolled 3, 1, 2, 4, 2, 7, 9, 5, 2, 2, 5, 2, 9, 2, 8, 7, 1, 9 = 80 (18d10)

PRIMAL ACTIONS
Lichophern
Though it shambles away, it nevertheless lashes out with vines and tree trunks, spat forth from the strange organism’s nucleus, even as plants sprout forth from the seeds sown all across the insect’s body, burrowing in and seeking purchase (Lichophern attacks Praetorian Eudaleal as Creeping Growth activates, it rolls the first and second die).

Praetorian Eudaeleal
Letting out a throaty, chittering growl, the massive, helmed insect pounces on the shambling lump of shrubbery, tearing great chunks of greenery away with hooked, chitinous talons (Praetorian Eudaeleal attacks Lichophern, it rolls the third and fourth die. Resisting Lichophern’s Creeping Growth, it rolls the fifth and sixth die).

Rhethrack
Trumpeting in fear, the massive, prehistoric pachyderm strikes as its even larger cousin, even as they loom impassively over it (Rhethrack attacks Yoregar, it rolls the seventh and eighth die).

Venthazek
As it arrives at the shoreline, its rival nearby injured, cornered, and vulnerable, the organic silos on its back begin to glow, working overtime to offset the heat as the sea begins to ominously evaporate, receding from the surrounding shores (Venthazek charges ???).

Warvorn
Grievously injured after that injurious ungulate’s attack, Warvorn chooses to lick its wounds for the time being, wishing to be in at the very least acceptable condition for its next bout.

Xaladaxa
Consuming a the crawling swarm of her sturdy, heavily armoured children, the insectoid queen, injured but yet unbowed as she is buoyed by the strength of her monstrous offspring, turns her intention now to the great metallic dragon currently menacing her, fangs clamping shut as she attempts to tear one of the synthetic divinity’s arms from its socket (Xaladaxa attacks Drakatron, making a Called Shot against their Arm, it rolls the ninth through fourteenth die).
>>
Yoregar
Letting out a wintery snort of amusement, Yoregar begins to sweep the mammoth Primal up with a single, mountainous palm (Yoregar attempts to Grapple Rhethrack, it rolls the fifteenth through eighteenth die).

Zolt
Turning a baleful eye towards the insignificant worms that dared to hail it, especially while it was at the height of its power, the electrified ungulate vanishes, appearing a short distance away before, for a moment, all the energy seems to vanish, the Apex seeming for the briefest instant to be completely devoid of potential energy. Then, with a ringing shriek, its horns glow with a blinding white light as they are enveloped in a corona of power, bolts of electricity thicker than the great beast’s legs springing forth to dance and frolic as they incinerate the surrounding landscape. Energy unleashed, the Primal, its usual unruffled state returned, moves on (Zolt moves to (10, 15) and activates Divine Punishment. Every Unit, Structure, etc. in a 3 hex radius must make an opposed Fortitude roll. It then continues its never-ending journey).

As the wounds from his battle with the Beast King and the lightning burns he received from Zolt heal, sitting on his throne, Makrópnoos watches grimly behind its invulnerability as Zolt vaporises half of an entire army of strange robed men as well as a whole town full of mortals in one cataclysmic electrical burst. He watched it run past him and into the Listeners' lands before stopping surprisingly close to him.

Two things went through the God Kings mind at this moment. One, the next time it moved it could Kairos, ischus or even land on Arche itself. Perhaps even the Listener cities. Two, if he acted right now ,and did it right,he could potentially kill this scourge extremely quickly.

Makrópnoos rose from his throne, and then sneakily made his way to where the giant deer was. He laid a trap of sturdy ropes and bindings and then at the right time...he pulled.

Thousands of bindings thicker than tree trunks suddenly wrapped itself around Zolt. To cap it off, just before it decided to use its immense strength to take off, Makrópnoos wedges his blade straight into its hip to block it.

MA: Trade route with Tsss

A phenomenal road has been constructed, and across it, a distant land. A very sharp one. Careful not to get impaled, goods flow to and from Aztlas as the treasures of this far off realm are offered upon the altars of Aztlas, and then quickly moved into warehouses once all the ceremony is done with.

MA+3DI+Assimilation: Brainjack (Jold, Salt. +3 Conviction. Enables indirect conversion. Failed indirect convert attempts still deal damage, soaked by half the targets obstinance.)

Speaking in tongues, eyes burned white, the streets running thick with gibberish flesh. It’s a research and development day in Aztlas.

The Sun Disk is transmitting its alien schematics into mind after mind until they finally comprehend, by sheer chance it finally lands upon Ͼ-Sektek after only killing a thousand people, flooding his brain full of its intentions. The device. What was spoken of in the Cyber Century text. The true bridge between minds.

He orders the cult to work, staving off the gnawing influence of the alien filling his mind with strange symbols and schematics, turning him into an agent of its will. Within a month they have their first failed prototype, within two months they have a hundred, and then all at once they crack it. Cybernetics like nobody had ever dreamt of.

The Brainjack replaces 40% of your skull, driving six large spikes into your grey matter and interfacing with existing brainweb implants across the Sauria thinkloops to deliver faster-than-thought enhanced processing speeds. Cables upon cables pour out of the thing like dreadlocks, to be plugged in to all manner of interfacing devices, monitoring apparatuses, keyboards, screens or charging ports, or even additional processing equipment built into mechanical limbs. The visible portion of Brainjacks are adorned in a gorgeous Jold casing, with Oltar wiring suspended in a saline solution fed quietly into the bloodstream to promote goodsalted thinking.

But what do they do? They permit creatures to understand eachother. A hundred thousand logical arguments can be thought up, devised, and launched at a foe faster than any conversation could occur, their response simulated and evaluated for the next round of arguments before their neurons even finish firing. Months worth of convincing, integration and assimilation can occur in seconds, attacking the unconscious brain with an unlimited array of novel tactics.

Between two Brainjack users, they may inevitably come to some accord and mutually agree on an outcome, but when an opponent is unequipped, it is simply a matter of time before the perfect argument is devised to upend one’s worldview and induce total loyalty to The Third Sun.

According to the magma spawn priests, Ervenbloud created the world. The World Forge priests specifically state their God takes the form of a heart because he used the rest of his body as material during the planet’s making. While this variation of the creation myth is technically not part of the official doctrine it has spread to most of the cults. The iconography of the twin suns is often found among spawn who regularly travel to the surface for it is believed they were crafted from his eyes and that he can still see the surface through them. Thus, when tales of the sun worshipers of Aztlas reached the Pyroclastic Council they were initially overjoyed to know there was another group of mortals that knew their God’s greatness, even if they only worshiped an aspect of him. Yet they noticed many who went to the solar city wouldn’t return. Eventually, the spies of Steamside were summoned and given a new task. Only one returned, but his words shook the council to their core. The sun lizards claimed not only that a third sun existed, but that a mere dragon was able to pluck it from the sky. This heresy could not be allowed to continue. A new law was made declaring that every spawn must, at least once in their life, ascend the volcanos during the peak of Erventime and listen to a sermon from the World Forge high priest declaring no force, mortal or divine, can blind the Eyes of Ervenbloud.

> These large gatewood crates are bigger on the inside, perfect for stuffing full of plunder, though quite large and unwieldy.
> Mechanically I'd like to use two points of speed penalty to justify some sort of improved version of Pillaging, via carrying big magical boxes for loot.

The strange lights of Aztlan have long held a strange allure for the Kikka. The grand city in the distance, known for its strange byzantine layout and mind breaking architecture, has lured many a Kikka in for a visit, and not all of them return for that matter. This is not considered an entirely terrible thing though, for those that do return come with souvenirs and strange devices, and those that don't were generally those Kikka with strange ideas like ‘maybe stabbing people is wrong’.

As trade picks up between the cities, an odd competition starts to stir up, of who can carry home the most souvenirs. This escalates in the natural Kikka way, with larger and larger crates carried on brawnier and brawnier shoulders, until inevitably some Kikka commissions a set of Gatewood luggage, featuring enough room on the inside for a small home. This of course starts another flurry of excessively sized crates and luggages, with equally absurd interiors.

>A long polearm used to stab people from an advantageous reach in melee. This is a weapon dealing 7 damage in melee and doing +1 FV against units with a mount equipped if it is an animal or otherwise a creature, living or artificial, with leg-based locomotion

Coming out of their stupor, it shouldn't be surprising that the first thing the humans made was...a longer spear. They were no stranger to spear as they'd been using them to hunt since time immemorial but only now were they beginning to make them to actually make war and it occurred to some men, especially given their extensive experience when dealing with large creatures, that being able to attack your enemy from further away was quite a big advantage. Indeed, those ''Lances'' would find very good use in herding unruly aurodox. The extra range combined with humanity's knowledge of Aurodox behaviour and biology would make for truly deadly weapons against large legged creatures.

>MA2: Compound Bows, Offensive Equippable tech, 1 Mana, using Anthropodeterminism and Skleros Mastery
>Pre-reqs: Skleros Bones, Anthropodeterminism, Shifting Wood, Masters of Machines,Bows,Skleros Mastery
>A large bow using an intricate system of pulleys to more easily allow the wearer to draw the arrow while conserving all the tensile energy that would be in a longbow. The bow itself is made in a variant of Skleros that is lighter while the curving egdes are made of Shifting Wood to ensure they bend. This system of pulleys also stabilizes the bow to improve accuracy. This is a weapon dealing 7 damage to units in the same hex with +1 FV to units that do not have a ranged weapon(Actual ranged weapon, not the ability)

Throughout the years, humans had mainly used bows when they needed to attack at a distance and while this was effective against wildlife it was very clear given the increased density of primals and potential enemies that they wouldn't be enough. But the Compound bow didn't come from a place of wanting to shoot their enemies better, instead a man going by the name of Anemos invented it. Messing with pulley systems to help move materials to build housing in Arche he noticed that the ropes in the core of the mechanism were under so much stress that if they were somehow to be cut they would fly away and whip the nearest man. This in itself wasn't a new thing, basic knowledge of machines was a thing most humans learned very young but what truly inspired Anemos was seeing a man use a specific rope as a trampoline for a brick that then landed on someone's face. The way the pulley snapped back and launched the brick sparked inspiration without the man's brain and so he thought: What if I did this for an arrow?

While Makrópnoos is holding onto the colossal ungulate, he can't help but notice the giant ball of spikes looming in the background behind me. ''Another one?!'' He exclaims, before realising that this thing was a god, a very loud one

Rolling a single strength dice for Rampachu's attack
>>
>>6404811

There is a sound that, if one could be charitable, might resemble a thousand dying cats, if those thousand dying cats were playing a kazoo. One single kazoo.

To the right sort of ears, it also might sound like. "HALLO! tsss is here! tsss likes funny big cultivator man's hat! tsss also likes big beastie horns! Is spiky head cultivator here for new hat?"

There is a ball of... jungle? Extremely pointy jungle? It looks dangerously sharp, even by divine standards. Beasts climb through it, vines hang from it, a thousand angry crows swirl above it. Of course between the exceedingly sharp trees are exceedingly sharp black spikes, each one wiggling with enthusiasm.

Given a chance, the ball of spikes would likely regale you with an exhaustive list of things they liked. The list would be long, and almost everything in it would be dangerous.

Few would assume a capacity for fun within the literally stony Longs of the Gate Of Heaven. Fewer still would anticipate how they would come about the newest outlet for their whimsy.
Jealousy.
The sight of Voidrays soaring through the clouds, carefree (to those that fail to notice their nightmarish implants), and most importantly fast, evoked much consternation amongst the Longs. Were they not the greatest creation of the greatest sectmaster of all? Should they not be able to, if not directly match with the lightweights, then shame them with their own heavyweight ability?
Soon enough, droves and crowds traveling alongside the walls find themselves ceremoniously and gently whisked through the air in bursts, barely feeling the inertia.

Seeing the fun the elder Longs got up to with people, the younger Longs sought to participate as well.
Their problem was how rambunctious and inelegant they could get. Many a traveler would end up with broken bones not even halfway to their destination.
A curious discovery led to some relief, as a combination of thousand-folded paper and Bombacto Sap dip created a moste bouncy material, one that kept the interior safe even as the item was hurled at breakneck speeds at various sharp and hard surfaces.
For the Xiao (T/N: Xiao means little) Longs, the disappointment from the restriction forbidding playing with people was more than overshadowed by the joy at having unbreakable toys, providing their parents succor from the embarrassment they oft caused.
And in the meantime, far away people in need of quick delivery could count on a meteoric ball crashing in their vicinity, with the supplies they needed.

Gluntwood has a deep connection to Lys and her semi-divine ilk, the Demigod Daleth and the Starlight Wizard Lamedh. It resonates with the souls of the Liten too, and once crafted into musical instruments, it becomes a powerful tool in the hands of Adulators, who are already able to mimic much of Lys' power on a very mortal scale.
With such prodigious new musical power on display, a suitable venue is needed for them to perform. The budding new temple is expanded, a veritable hall able to fit hundreds of Liten within it's walls constructed to house instruments that are larger than anything made yet. Such instruments are not yet crafted, of course... but in due time.

Being a Listener is a special thing. There is something powerful about the mere concept of coexisting in a world in with things much grander than your whole race, always looming above and undeniably so much more powerful that it could snuff you and everything you've created from existance in a mere thought. But through that fear, Listeners choose not only to exist, but to push the limits of what reality has set infront of them. To not only stare into the face of the universe and defy its frivolousness, but to live that chosen life within a set of standards. Listeners do not claw their naked bodies towards their next meal and bark at every unknowable threat in fear. They stand upright, don arduously forged and upkept armor, choose life-long partners, take on oaths, and more than all: They fight to keep this way of life. Because above it all, if Listeners are going to choose to persist in this insignificant world, in a string of short lived generations, each man one by one will choose to pick up the chisel and chip their way into building a better future for their sons.

>Attack [MI 1/9] [Vaelith Knights 1] Lake of Communion, die 1 vs dice 2 & 3
>Attack [MI 2/9] [Vaelith Knights 2] Lake of Communion, dice 4 vs dice 5 & 6
>Defense dice receive +2 FV
It is for this reason The Skirmish Unending persists, as the central district of The Lake of Communion stinks with the hytox's dissolution of thousands of armored corpses, a festering heap on top of which the battle continues. Greatly reduced in numbers, the lords of The Eastern Reaches, now dubbed House Lysander, pick their battles. Maintaining the gear to keep soldiers armed grows ever challenging, as strategies shift towards strike teams of half-plate knights. The reduced armor leaves more metal to go around, less metal-on-metal contact enables stealthier patrols, and a lighter carryweight allows a hastier retreat when necessary. If nothing else, this unmeasurable loss of lives has certainly induced an evolution in tactics.

Following the death of Avatar Lysandros, House Lysander was swift to strike back and make a full on assault of the palace. While a significant portion of the tyrants were cut down, far too many slipped away through subterranean hatches and took ships to Oltartown. How convenient of them to guise their escape as a 'reward' to their houseless serfs for slaying The Speaker, naming them The Fifth House Unmourned. The primitive honorless serfs who were starved of the culture they now fight to defend, occupying their old master's palaces, enforcing the same traditionalist ideals that once enslaved them, as a clueless vassal house. For as long as these fools hold power over the average Listener, and over the central district where they drown every child showing any sign of favor with The Whisper, the battle is not won.

>Lake of Communion succeeds on both defenses, soaking 12 of 32 damage, losing 20 pop and proccing Civil War 4 times.

The trade houses, Yros and Morcair, do as they can to lay low and maintain the forward progress of The Listeners from the other colonies. With the removal of The Speaker, communication over greater distances has been greatly gimped, unfortunately starving the resistance of what power they possessed to mobilize these Houses to resist The Great Council. Of course, House Morcair and Yros have little encouragement to do otherwise when they still hold senator positions on the council, but the average chitterling herder will never hear how each of these councilmembers have either been lobbied by, or have an overwhelming number of relatives of, House Nelyth. Additionally, with the seemingly permanent death of The Speaker, House Vaelith falls from honor as their oath existed on the devotion to protecting The Host. Losing their seat, and granting its place to The House Unmourned, House Nelyth's grip on politics has never been tighter.

>Build [MA] Ceremycosis Lung (4,6)
To the northwest isles, founded by Serell of Yros, but only truly enriched by Raymnd the Visonary of House Nelyth, his documented visions come to life. Well established within the traditions of The Myceliac, the battle hardened people of Oltartown and Avadmet fought off Primals to keep their home, live under the protection of Gliraximum who companioned none other than Aeylan the First Host, and were the first to breathe the spores of The Whispering Haze. With undying allegiance to the history of their people, and the whims of House Nelyth's direction, House Yros is happy to indulge their ingenuity on any measure of project. Where often ideas of pestilence and sickness breed nothing more than horror and fear to most mortals, such concepts are non-existant to Listeners. Fertility and disease are equivalent, and a spire of flesh that belches forth plumes of ever-evolving endospores is comparable to a volcano that spews the very essence of not only vitality, but also of the closest thing they have found to the very heart of The Myceliac's source.

It is night in this strange and dark forest. Whisper's people may be forgiven for being confused - This close to Lys, the land is usually steeped in perpetual daylight, Lys' radiance having banished the darkness of night since time immemorial. Here though, the land itself is the night sky. The thick trunks of the trees shimmer with twisting nebulae and streaking comets, while the leaves overhead form a canopy of the night sky itself. Small shrines dot the landscape, guiding the travellers along narrow and winding paths. Distant chimes hint at bells and song, and Whisper's scouts would catch glimpses of Liten in the distance, glowing softly in the darkness.

Soon enough, two approach, taller than their ilk and adorned in simple whites and blacks, unlike their kin. Daleth, spear and shield in hand, stands back in silence, the Demigod merely there to act as witness while the wizard of Starlight steps forward to speak.

"I am Lamedh, one who Lys shines through. You are of Speaker Gerniet's kin; what brings you to these lands?"

Keeping a cautious distance, the knights rear their horses in place, forming up. Under the dim glimmer of light through the canopy, the two Demigods would see the band of knights are not significant in number, nor steeled in high grade arms or armor. They appear of a working, lower class, sort, but one detail does pique an interest. The mounts they ride are not of the same giant termites that Gerniet once rode, at least not all of them. Many knights ride atop what was once the Brood of Mutares, insectoid equines who have now found part in a new hivemind since the dissolution of their former...

"Fair tidings, Lamedh. Aye, we are of the same sap of Gerniet, but not of same kin as House Yros. Nonetheless, I am pleased to know our historical reports were not unfounded. We knew a Speaker some hundreds of years ago made contact here, but not precisely who or of what nature... We have come to establish more official an accord, and offer open arms in mutual trade and protection. >[MA] Ichorous Delights [2 DI] [Culture Progress]
It is a curious development, the preparation of food. Originally, a Child simple ate it’s meal raw, be it carnivore or herbivore, or if they were feeling particularly adventurous, adding their salt lick and some of gelatin fruits to a still cold meal.

With the innovation of fire to cook one’s meal, and new culinary tools imported from the desert lizards, one can now take the Beast’s bounty and give it proper presentation, artfully roasting a succulent ichorfish, preparing one’s prey with culinary fevor, or even artistically arranging one’s herbs and fruits as a feast for one’s eyes, as the Deamu do when consuming the long days of sunlight and the auroralight. Yet, none carry the weight of the newest innovation- the Ichorol. Cultivated in breweries, a pinch of basalt, a cup of ichor, mixed in with the fermenting bounty of the forest such as gelatin fruits, it has become a smashing hit with the Children, even as they become a bit too enthusiastic with it’s consumption.

>[MA] Cultivation of the Inner Beast [2 DI] [Culture Progress]

The Change, the barkification on one’s being as one ages, has alway been a source of significant stress and anxiety to the Children. The creaking, cracking nature, the pernicious growth of leaves and branches, the stead march into immobility- all but the fastidious Marines, the Deamu, and the most devoted of the Children fear this inevitable change.

Yet, as the seasons wane, so too does this innate fear. Spread from the monasteries, the Cultivation of the Inner Beast, controlling one’s fear the Change, has steadily gained fertile ground with the Children, and has morphed into a serene acceptance of the cyclical nature of their life. Now, instead of attempting to fight against this inevitability, they instead cultivate one’s inner grove in the most literal sense, embracing the Change in fashion and forklore. Artistically arranging and pruning one’s growth shows sophistication, often correlated with creativity, and the cultivation inner enlightenment with their colorful lanterns warms their soul in away truefyre never managed before in the northern tundra.

With Anivia already empowered to new heights, it is only logical that you move on to one of your other long-time companions, Nevasca, the golem built in the unfortunate wake of Geada’s destruction at the hands of the red beast. Whereas you imbued Anivia, a living organism, with improvements based on your memory of the great gyrefalcon you once fought on the northern glaciers, Nevasca’s improvements are entirely a matter of your own spellwork, limbs lengthened and sharpened, ice more densely packed, and dozens of new fractal edges and spikes introduced into its frame as it approaches completion. While one would expect that such a religious proclamation would be met with a not-insignificant amount of resistance, in this case the fact that so few of those who make the pilgrimage to Aztlas return works in the favour of the priesthood, leaving few to gainsay their words or present any form of counterargument. Those few who do rail against this dismissal of the third sun’s power are shouted down and, in a few radical cases, hauled away to be “re-educated” and examined to determine if there were any…’foreign influences’ affecting their thinking ability. The tradition, once it has been set in stone so to speak, proves fairly effective, tamping down on any religious curiosity amongst the youth, though a handful of the particularly rebellious still choose to make the journey, even at their own peril. The False Eye developed.
Deciding, after several failures, to temper his reckless desire to gain more power with patience, Volk simply immerses himself in meditation in the magmatic tubes of his home. He makes no effort to seek out or force a connection, his consciousness fading away into a gentle oblivion as he becomes one with the environment, all that flows within his thoughts the half-formed image of the lava flowing beneath his feet, or the fanciful idea that the volcano itself is, like his god and creator, some great geomantic organism. Unwittingly, as decades pass and Volk continues his quiet period of meditation and respite, a connection begins to form…Volk’s Retribution (1/?) developed.

Unfortunately, the great ungulate proves thoroughly unimpressed by your monologue, a tempestuous snort of derision and a threatening flicker of the potential energy contained in its antlers all that is received in response.
The first few of these strange boosts of wind and force are met with a mixture of fear and concern, some inattentive Disciples finding themselves, as the elders would say, consuming faeces after a gust strikes them at the wrong time and wondering if perhaps they had come under attack from some strange hostile spirit, or if the wall’s draconic guardians have come down with some manner of inner demon. Fortunately you are eventually able to clear up the misunderstanding, and it isn’t long before the most skilled of your sect’s Qinggong practitioners are soaring along the top of the wall as if given wings, even the sternest of elders unable to restrain the occasional whoop of elation. Dragon Booster™ developed.
While their disappointment is immeasurable and their day is ruined by the restriction imposed on them after the dozenth Disciple is found with more bones broken than unbroken due to a Xiao Long’s attempt to “speed his journey” to the lavatory, these new toys do much to assuage the overexaggerated grief of the infant dragons. Such is their enjoyment of these new toys that they even, on occasion, deign to use them to help the Disciples in their own fashion. Their willingness to help even serves to improve on a Disciple’s situational awareness, lest they find themselves crushed by inopportunely delivered packages, an arrangement their masters find most pleasing. Though not exactly its intended purpose, the glimmering wood, for all that it exerts none of its more spiritual attractive effects on the living, proves quite aesthetically appealing to the Liten themselves, once they come across it. You happily accede to their requests to harvest a sustainable portion of the lustrous, glowing lumber, which your people skillfully render down into smaller portions to divide amongst themselves. Though some make more static works of art with the material, such as furniture or sculptures, the overwhelming popular choice is the creation of a new instrument, many Liten overjoyed to have at last found a wood that proves equal in aesthetic appeal to the beautiful gossamer strands produced by the Weavers. Glintwood Instruments developed.
Eager to display their newly created instruments and the musical talent that accompanies it beyond their close-knit circle of friends and acquaintances, many Liten petition the Temple, the largest (functional, anyways, the great stone monoliths don’t really count) collective structure your people have built to date, and the most regularly visited, to install a musical wing, a place in which they might express their appreciation of their god through their god-given talent for performance. In the face of your attempts to grab it the Apex simply grunts in amusement, dancing out of reach as its antlers scrape the cloud cover overhead, sparkling with potential energy as the massive, four-legged beast prepares to continue its journey. Zolt’s Vitality is now 21/25.
Though the spear had long been a trusty, effective, and easy to produce companion to humanity, special circumstances called for more specialized weapons. While its reach allows for some effectiveness when dealing with truly gargantuan beasts, a traditional spear’s shaft is far too flimsy and liable to snap off under the force of such a creature’s rampage, and the length, while adequate enough to deal damage, cannot pierce deep enough to deal a true deathblow. Thus improvements are made, the Sklēros carved less finely, trading the lightness necessary for throwing for sturdiness capable of withstanding even an Aurodox’s charge, and a length that, while cumbersome, should allow its wielder to pierce deep enough to reach even a titan’s vital organs. Sklēros Lances developed.
The bow, too, finds itself improved upon through the insight, and subsequent efforts to capitalize on said insight, of Anemos. While these new, complex internal mechanisms will likely prove difficult to maintain during weeks long hunting trips in the grasslands and forest, your people are far beyond requiring such food sources anyways. Furthermore, the power, comparable to that of a longbow, and ease of draw, as light as a short bow, gained in exchange is sure to prove effective on the battlefield, where this new compound weapon is intended to shine. Compound Bows developed.

Uncaring and unafraid in the face of “death”, such as they can even experience it, your Vessels make the ideal candidates for a bristling wall of death, their pikes never wavering no matter what manner of terror or monstrosity might be bearing down on them, and their absolute adherence to orders allows them to quickly cooperate and get into formation, even if their responsiveness to changes in the situation on the battlefield…leaves something to be desired. Pike and Shot developed.
To address said responsiveness, you make sure to drill a very simple, straightforward order into them, though it is all the more effective for that simplicity: If you see something, shoot it. A cavalry force attempting to flank? Shoot it. An airship flying overhead? Shoot it. A ragged, allied force of Vessels calling out for assistance in distinctly un-Vessel-like fashion? Shoot it. So long as there is no need for higher thought, you reason, there will be no indecisiveness, no lag in response time. The perfect solution! Xenophobia Doctrine developed.

Under the auspices of House Yros, and at the urging of House Nelyth, the diseased, living lung at last meets its soulmate, the people of this northwestern subcontinent finding little to fear in the towering, organic edifices and the spores they spew forth with every long, rattling breath. In fact, with the apparent absence of an Avatar, some take solace in this great monument to vitality, treating it with an almost religious reverence. Gliraximum, meanwhile, is less than pleased, his integration with your people protecting him from the worst of the spore rain’s effects but leaving him with some rather persistent allergies. Ceremycosis Lung built.
Though unable to stave off death itself, admittedly, these dressings, relatively easy to create and very easy to apply for even the average uneducated serf or soldier, prove a valuable boon on the ever-evolving battlefield of the civil war, providing much-needed succour and a stabilizing factor for those who might otherwise have succumbed to their wounds long before they could be brought to see the medics that can more adequately treat them. Sap Dressing developed.
Though there is something to be said for hard-won experience and traditions, there are also limits to such things. Ultimately, the march of civilization must bring change and improvements, and House Nelyth is confident they know better than some dimwitted gaggle of bug-herders. Fortunately, in this case at least, their arrogance proves somewhat founded, or more accurately the Conductor proves up to the task, the assistant it uses as a remote terminal able to provide effective, custom-built instructions to more efficiently, remotely direct the simpleminded, social insects as needed. Unfortunately, even well below its top speed, the ungulate proves far too fleet-footed to arrest, a few drops of blood from shallow wounds scored upon its flanks all you receive for your trouble. Zolt’s Vitality is now 22/25. Your Vitality is now 13/25.
Sure, perhaps you and your master had been exceedingly close to entering into a no holds barred, battle to the death with the monstrous, hydra-sun-thing, but…what’s a little stabbing between friends, really? And if you aren’t willing to hold a grudge, and he isn’t holding a grudge, you see no issue at all with sending your people into the massive, non-euclidean, futuristic spire filled with mind-controlling religious zealots who have no reason whatsoever to be offended by a war in heaven nearly being waged against their deity. You’re even getting some nifty wood out of the deal! Trade Route established.
While a few of the Kikka traders and curious pilgrims that travel along the newly created trade route never come back for entirely unforeseeable and unexplainable reasons, those that do return laden with a variety of different goods and strange new trinkets. The escalation is, of course, entirely foreseen, and no measures whatsoever are taken to avoid it, especially given it’s perhaps one of the least harmful forms of competition the Kikka have ever engaged in. Like the Sharpclaws, for your people the Kikka are yet another unique source of fascination, not quite cousins, but relatives nonetheless, as a fellow reptilian people, albeit somehow even more volatile than even the ornery Sharpclaws. But volatile or not, the unique goods that can be found in their so-called “tssslands” are simply too good to pass up, and it isn’t long before there is a steady flow of trade goods passing between Aztlas and this “Thornshade”. Trade Route established.
While some might find the Brainjacks…slightly disturbing to look upon, reptilian cranium replaced with smooth metal and a veritable forest of wires and neural jacks that trail down a Palladion’s back, to your people, long-used to such cybernetics, this new upgrade is quite pleasing to the eye, especially when one considers the mental processing that comes with it. Between Palladions, a dozen conversations can occur the moment they lock eyes, allowing for heretofore unseen levels of not having to actually talk with others, and as for the poor Sharpclaw and Kikka merchants that come to visit…well, it goes without saying who is getting the better of who, where fair trade is concerned. PRIMAL ACTIONS
Lichophern
Largely recovered from its earlier expenditure, and now with a thirst for yet more vitality and lifeforce, the mindless mountain of flora pursues the insect, attempting to keep up the assault (Lichophern pursues Praetorian Eudaeleal, it rolls the first and second die to resist Displaced Decoy).

Praetorian Eudaeleal
Screeching with pain as vines and growths spring from the gaps between its carapace before slithering back towards the shambling vegetation’s central mass, the insectoid follows its cries of pain up with a psionic screech before beating a hasty retreat, the roles now reversed (Praetorian Eudaeleal activates Displaced Decoy and retreats, it rolls the third through fifth die).

Rhethrack
Letting out a shrill sound of fear completely at odds with its gargantuan size, the once-intimidating Primal is reduced to desperate thrashing in its reluctance to be thrown (Rhethrack attacks Yoregar, it rolls the sixth through eighth die, then rolls for resistance against both of Yoregar’s attempts to throw it, it rolls the ninth through eleventh and twelfth through fourteenth die respectively).

Venthazek
Opening its mouth, a beam of pure, white-hot destruction pours forth, the mud walls newly erected in Venthazek’s path are reduced to less than ashes, all that remains in the beam’s wake a scorched, featureless devastation. Heat vented, and rival no doubt sufficiently cowed, Venthazek slips through the gap it has made in the wall, returning to the wider sea as it prepares to journey back to cooler waters (Venthazek activates Heat Lance and departs).

Warvorn
Feeling somewhat recovered after the backtrampling(?) it received from Zolt, Warvorn begins to slowly pad back towards the mainland.
>>
Xaladaxa
Now no longer buoyed by the power gained by devouring its progeny, and scorched by the remnants of its rival’s assault, the tyrant queen realizes the danger she’s in and attempts to make an escape, countless legs churning away at the earth as they drag her bulk through the newly created opening and towards freedom (Xaladaxa rolls to avoid what bled-off remnants of Heat Lance reach it and flees, it rolls the fifteenth through eighteenth die).

Yoregar
Mildly annoyed by how the pachyderm’s tusks score its hand, the massive, shrouded life form cocks back a long, heavily-muscled arm before attempting to hurl, trumpeting with alarm the entire windup, its unfortunate victim (Yoregar activates Paired Points, attempting twice over to lob Rhethrack, it rolls the nineteenth through twenty-second die, as well as the twenty-third through twenty-sixth for the two respective throws. It then rolls the twenty-seventh through thirty-first die to resist Rhethrack’s attack).

Zolt
Despite sensing the encroaching snare, and its potential death, the slender beast remains placid, its eyes flickering with confident scorn as its antlers at last complete their charge-up (Zolt attempts to activate God Speed, moving beyond the reach of any that would seek to chain it, it rolls the thirty-second through thirty-sixth die).

Noticing the Listener armies nearby, and knowing he wouldn't be able to simply kill this thing on his own before it escapes, Makrópnoos yells at the knights. ''Hail young ones! I do not wish to intrude upon your affairs too much, but if this beast is left alive it will continue plaguing you in the future. Perhaps even now. Raise your spears and take down this calamity once and for all''

Noticing a spark coming from Zolt, the Godking turns around sharply.''Oh no you don't!'' Makrópnoos, determined to stop Zolt, leaps towards the antlers as they charge. Enduring the ensuing shock, he slices at them with the sword using all the strength he can muster in the moment.

> Develop. 2MA. 4DI. Terraforming. Drop Thorides
> A Powerful Health resource that gives an additional point of Health civ skill per progress develop that benefits from antiseptics
> This variant of lesser thoride is filled with a potent acidic compound that rapidly reduces organic life into a thick syrup. When watered down it serves as a highly effective antiseptic.

It happens without warning or preamble, as is typical in the tssslands. The two hunters tread softly through the jungle, dodging branches that shear off flesh and parasitic vines and the watchful eyes of hungry crows. Then when one hunter looks away he hears his companion grunt softly. When he looks back the blood is already pouring from his companions mouth, lips half open, a low moan rising intensity until it crests as a death howl, death spines shooting out into the trees and underbrush.

It takes a horrifying panicked moment to find the source of the agonizing death. Plunged into the hunters neck is a vibrant red bellied thoride, a rotund and bloated specimen. It slowly deflates, little feet wiggling comically despite the horror of the situation, a much smaller scream coming from the little creature. The screams come to a halt slowly, the last bits of air wheezing from the lungs. Vapors rise thinly from the two linked corpses, and with them the smell of a butcher’s shop. The now lone hunter can only watch as his friend’s body stiffens in place, scales darkening. The deflated thoride’s corpse falls off, leaving its back spike embedded into the victim’s neck.

The survivor runs. The victim will remain, body locked into place. Over the coming weeks thoride spikes will emerge from the blackened scales, small at first, then growing larger over time. Eventually the corpse will collapse into chunks of dry rotted leather, and out from the heap will scurry a fresh generation of drop thorides, each one bearing the vibrant red marks that warn longstriders and omen crows that this one is not for eating. Eventually the marks will darken, save for the belly, and the thorides will climb high into the trees, out onto a long branch, and wait patiently for the next victim to walk by.

MA+2DI: Simultaneous Pylon Activation

Ͼ-Sektek noticed a minor code error in the assimilation pylons that caused them to either activate at an incredibly slow rate, or hardcrash their processes after eight iterations.

Whoops.

He spends the next few months attempting to patch together a solution, gathering up most of the Cybercult to vibecode a solution that doesn’t result in some sort of catastrophic ignition event in the pylon mass core, or trigger a hostile antibody response from Ͼ that would obliterate the synapses of his entire species. Fortunately he’s rather aided by a few of the more sane subroutines of the UFO in performing this task, having direct divine assistance makes his job at all possible.

MA+2DI+Nanites: Create Powerful Resource “Nanomass” (2/4) (+1 damage/soak to artifacts made out Nanomass. Cannot be made into mortal equipment or used as a prereq in techs unless civ has Jold+ general tech and Jold+ in any other relevant tech (offence for Nanite weapons, ect).
Artifacts, equipment, structures, constructs and units made using Nanomass MUST have a Ͼ- prefix in their name, allowing Ͼ-Arkatassus greater leeway when targeting them for develops and spellcasts.
(Mortal equipment stats are probably good, to compensate. Possible maluses in some areas, balancing resources is hard.)

Nanomachines are omnipresent all throughout the Xenowylds, and all throughout the Sauria, symbiotically existing in all the various flora and fauna, a crucial ingredient in the lifecycle of those technoorganic lifeforms that dwell there. They never exist in vast amounts however, occasionally stringing into complex structures but usually experiencing isolated existences, only rarely called into larger formations than a few units.

In the deepest darkest pits of the Xenowylds however, great pits of Nanomass can be found. Puddles, pits, entirely full of writhing nanites, grown intelligent through expanded computing space. These pits are the terminus edges of the Xenowylds brain, the thoughts of the genius loci of the biome itself ring across and terminate here, the final echoes of potentially great ponderings that cannot be observed.

Spiritual concerns of harvesting the grey matter of a potentially sentient biome aside, great masses of semisentient nanites can be harvested directly, useable for their fascinating material properties or computing applications, allowing advanced nanotechnology to enter full use into those civilisations capable of comprehending such a thing. Guns that print bullets on command, buildings that assemble at a moments notice.

From the depths of The Lake of Communion's subterranean megalopolis, Ser Greg the Green has been successful in coordianting the ever-moving desires of his House Nelythian cabal. The civil war continues, The House Unmourned has escalated in influence, and House Lysander remains both none the wiser and kept in numerous supply to remain invested in the resistance effort. How fortuitous of those fools to be dimwitted enough to not comprehend we could crush them in an instant if it was desired. However, while overseeing the kingdom from the recesses of his laboratory, Greg is suddenly assailed with visions, wounding their grand plan: A massive, ominous ball, orbited in spikes of microscopic sharpness, stares down over the walls of The Eastern Reach...

>pic related

Dropping to the floor, the wizard grasps at his chest as he is overtaken by a cluster of heart palpitations. The plan must continue, but has he lived the vast extent of his years in defiant watch over The Reach, just for it to come crumbling down the moment he leaves? The ways of this 'House Lysander' are lost, mutated, deserving of this poetic deliverance of karma... But it has always been home.
Fuck the plan. An undulate, notorious for its reoccurring strikes devastating our colonies stands within the grasp of The Godking, and what can only be the designer we have to thank for the persistent sickness that is the Kikka, now looms over our people. We must act.
"Hear me, Gerholdt! Bid thy informants on either side to hasten thee. Gather all men, and hearken unto the Godking's behest. Forsooth, the Skirmish Unending shall serve naught but futility unto either party, an it please our foes to vanquish our folk by these threats. We shall suggest a joint assault, to be followed by a peace conference. Attend to it, straightaway."

Nonetheless, they steer an array of Hyphal-Hitches, adjusting their yaw to point tsss down sights, unfolding a volley of Shrieker Shells that scream as they tear through the skies. Surmounting the massive walls and cashing into the sphere-bodied God, the shells erupt into violent plumes of spore... A silence befalls the defending militia, nervously awaiting the cloud's dispersal... But alas, the massive, curiously darting, eyes of the death-ball are unphased. It is truly hopeless. We can only stall for time, a gambit to decide our fate.

As the child-like God of stabbing observes the tiny folk, one squishy person comes into focus, approaching atop the pointy walls.

"Fair tidings, kikka-god, sir. I am Jahera Morcair. My great great grandmother was Jehane. She was the finest tradeswomen of our people, and she single-handedly negotiated peace between my people, and the Kikka. I would personally like to offer you anything you ask of, in exchange that you spare our lives, kikka-god, sir..."

This little knight appears smaller than the other squishies, certainly an adolescent listener, shaking as she stands in your presence.

Assuming the command of their highest lords, the men of House Lysander are... Dissatisfied. Knowing House Nelyth, peace is hardly a realistic negotiable point. Those snakes would order the death of every haze-breathing Listener if it lined their pockets. But, there is an objective truth in the deadliness of these threats that loom from not-so-far. It will be a shame to fight amongst the defiled and honorless Fifth House, but nonetheless, that is what sets us apart. House Lysander does not lack such honor that they cannot set aside a grudge for the betterment of Listener-kind.

Amongst the daily bustle of profitable trade amongst the magma spawn and listeners from Steamside's ports, an unusually decorated assortment of knights arrive, flying the flags of House Morcair. This ancient Great House is one of the four originals, esteemed as some of the best traders and diplomats this world has known. Their band seeks out the highest ranking diplomat within whatever our equivalent of an embassy would be, handing out a letter directly addressing Ervenbloud itself.

"Hail, Ervenbloud The Great Warmth,

In the absence of our Speaker, we the Listeners in the name of The Great Council and Godking Makropnoos, extend an official invitation of divine essence to yourself. These great powers above, and our many scouts, have observed a disturbing erupture of conflict, as dangers from the south expand and reach northward. This invitation into the Royal Pantheon would not demand your proactive engagement in such conflicts, as we wish not to disturb your dormant nature, but it would enable us to further empower one another in preparation, and obligates our Kingdoms to come to your defense should your people face such a threat.

Should you accept, you may devote your divine influence to entering the pantheon. Should you decline, we are content to remain partners in trade as has been for uncountable years past in delightful peace.

By the Grace of The Myceliac,
Bannerman Druettes Morcair"

The great mass of spikes slowly turns, the myriad jungles growing out of it creaking and groaning as they go.

"tsss remembers! verrrry long ago! but tsss does not want things right now, but does like chance to see wall tssself! very stabby!"

There is a brief interlude as hundreds of spines lash out with surprising delicateness, poking at the wall, triggering defensive spikes.

The massive looming ball of death wiggles vigorously, then with a cacophony of caws and complaints a flock of crows swoops low and drops...a tree sapling? A very, very, sharp tree sapling.

"tsss...tsss could also use a leeeedle nudge. maybe big spiky head cultivator can help? tsss trying to go home, miss jungles. maybe tsss plant tsss one day! tsss maybe thought was tree once back when tsss was bitten by funny big lizard! did squishies know tsss has big tiny lizard with too many heads in tsss head? sometimes talks to tsss! sometimes not in head too! verrry strange"

Somewhat speechless to the barrage of childlike wonder, the small knight reaches up gingerly grabs the sapling. Entering the fog, it does not take long for the metamorphosis to take shape. Growths of apparent spores collect upon its twigs, appearing not to wilt nor flourish, but rapidly evolves into something new; its bark grows soft, branches unravel into plumes of fuzzballs, hue shifts into a bright purples, and overall becomes something whole with the rest of this place. The Listeners here could not see it, but tsss can. The darting whispers that surround this mist, the rapid transformation of this plant, are not merely the natural effects of spores. There is a power at work, of equivalent divinity to tsss itself, but with none of the consciousness. It merely permeates.

"Thank you, tsss, sir. It is an honor. We might not be able to nudge you, but if you must push off of our wall to get moving, we would much rather clean up the debris than find ourselves under your spikes... Do forgive my intrusion, please, tell me more!"

The rest of her replies follow some assortment of confused looks, nodding, and pretending to be very interested in his ramblings.

>MA: Coordinated fire
>per-reqs: Ley of the Sky, Louloudi Cannons
>Mechanical effect: Allows up to 3 Louloudi Cannons in the same hex to fire at the same unit all at once with the use of a single UI

Within a basement in arche, dinning on imported Cradle delicacies, sat a human named Synthlíftike, so named for a broken nose that never quite healed. His job was that of an engineer coordinator, specifically involving the construction and testing of Louloudi Cannons. Though, faced with the news from the Listeners' homeland, he couldn't help but think that the grown machines were...inadequate. As powerful as the cannons and the Living Charges themselves were, it was well known that Primal Beasts and Heroic Figures such as Ischus,Rampachu and Kairos were far more resilient than mere walls, why the first of those listed did a showcase recently showing how impenetrable his skin and muscles could be. But still they could do damage, and even if it took several cannons to bring one down it was enough for the time.

This wasn't the case anymore.

Synthlíftike had questionned the traders bearing news, and while many saw the defeat of battle against the Calamity plaguing the Listeners as a proof that mortals could give even the most godlike beasts pause the human engineer could read between the lines. It took two opposing armies of thirty thousand noble knights all armed with Aejold weapons to even remotely deal that much damage and pierce the flesh of that beast. Furthermore, it seemed like the god of those lizards Arbaldo had forced to kneel finally showed itself near Eastern Reach and despite the disbelief at hearing about how it acted like an eight year old child with attention problems and didn't even seem all that malicious, Synthlíftike confirmed his doubts: Mortal weaponry were still useless against gods. They could hurt the Calamities but not the Gods still, Eastern Reach's attempt at a defense had been pitiful and useless before the ''Death-ball'' of a god and they had to rely on sending an adolescent to speak with it.

And so, the man wondered how they would defend themselves against those threats, they could fire all available cannons of course but this required couriers to be sent to group as the distances involved between gunner nests were quite large which made a coordinated strike impossible when it took hours to days to tell someone to fire at something.

That is until some disciples of the illustrious Lord Wadusi came to Arche and shared with them the knowledge of sending messages across the stars. Literally, they could move the lights in the constellations and used this to send messages to each other instantly, and this obviously worked across kilometers and kilometers as it isn't like the sky become unrecognizable after a week's walk.

Synthlíftike saw an opportunity there and he took it. All Louloudi Gunners were given a manual on how to interpret and translate star signs into words as well as assigned an Astrologer that was trained in the newly dubbed practice of ''Star-Weaving'' to send those messages. A command center was established in Arche with various protocols to ensure a fast response and the crews of individual nests were trained to receive the commands from the center. No longer would they need to send courier specialized animals to each and every installation, if a scout saw something dangerous all he had to do was report it and have the Astrologer give its coordinates to all other nests, who would now be able to coordinate and deliver a brutal and sustained barrage of explosives on the target.

The engineer coordinator smiled as he witnessed how devastating the first tests proved to be. Now, they could be ready

>MA2: Long range spotting
>pre-reqs: Coordinated fire, Ley of the Sky
>Mechanical Effect: Allows Louloudi Cannons to target up to 3 units at once in range when attacking, spreading the damage between each of them

A problem showed itself during training, as they always do. The tactic of sustained fire was very devastating for certain but...Well it was really wasteful occasionally. The disadvantage of a sustained bombardment is that if a target only required half the ammo to destroy the crew would just not stop to shoot until the end of the operation no matter if the target had already been vaporized. This left a critical vulnerability if they were to ever deal with multiple separate forces instead of one big monster or army. The problem itself lied in the lack of training from the crew in Starweaving, turns out if only one guy is trained in it you can't get real time updates on the situation so instead of there only being one Astrologer every member of the crew was taught how to send basic signals such as ''Begin'' or ''Stop''. Furthermore they were furnished with what was ostensibly binoculars to be able to observe from much further away.

Additionally, the gunners were also drilled in ammo conservation, as unloading all the shells into one dead target was unacceptable.

After the Godking sliced the charged antlers off the deer's skull before it can blast away again, he landed a little away to catch his breath while watching the mortals disembowel the Apex. What frightening ferocity in combat these listeners were capable of...he hoped the humans would match them soon. He used this short respite to ask Laurelios another request.

''Crown, I will need your help again, though this time it is for projects more related to you. First I need you to bond more deeply with me, redirect damage done to you to me instead as while I could keep you safe in our earlier fight against the Beast King I do not know how long I will be able to shield you from harm before you splinter into pieces. Second, despite the charisma you confer me I am not the best with words sadly, I am more at home in a workshop than a theater and so I would like to request your power in order to crush a primal beast's will when it is beaten. Conquered if you will. I do not ask that you give your all for this, as I know I am more proficient than you are when it comes to the arcane arts I will bear the brunt of the fast effort. I know you have a lot of mana stockpiled, so I ask that you give me enough of it for me to do this. Keep the rest to yourself, as you will be able to give the project its finishing touches

The approach of the divine Liten has emboldened their mortal kin, and the knights would see that more of the diminutive folk are stepping out from behind trees with every passing minute. Appearing as only teens or younger, they are clearly harmless - entirely unarmed, and bearing all the undisciplined, fidgety energy of typical children. This energy seems spent on fashion - while not ostentatious, each Liten has certainly taken great care to wear clothing that seems almost unnaturally pristine, unmarred by even the faintest stains or errant wrinkle. The occasional touch of magic is evident: glowing crowns that mimic antlers, or a cloak that bears the same shifting sky-scape as the trees around them. Their colours might be vibrant, but in the gloom of this enchanted woods, it's hard to say.

"I only faintly recall the Speaker Gerniet, as I was young during his visit, but I remember that he spoke with the Heartglow on the peak. He journeyed on in peace, with a gift I wrought and his presence in our songs. He was as Divine as Lys; where is he, and why do you not share his House, if you are of his kind?" Lamedh asks, her head tilting slightly. Her voice has the hints of the timber of age, and she has the bearing of a lady who's hair is starting to show grey. There is conserved movement and dignified grace in everything she does. While Daleth is unnaturally large, twice as tall as the horse-bound knights, she is not, merely the size of a normal adult, if a tall one.

Talk of an accord, of trade and a road, stirs no reaction from the semi-divines, but a gentle ringing among the surrounding Liten shows their clear excitement. Their voices are melodious, their language closer to merry chimes than anything.

Daleth is first to crack, the last question from the mushroom knights causing the demigod to give a derisive snort, some irony lost on the mortals that amuses him. Lamedh is quick to resolve this, however.

"We hold no authority, those of House Morcair. As I said before... 'I am one who Lys shines through'." She repeats, the subtle glow her and her people share seeming to stretch and grow. For a moment, the endless night is banished, and the knights find themselves at the mountain's peak, face to face with Lys herself. Her Light washes over and through them completely, they are here, they are safe, they are...

Then the darkness returns, and Lamedh once more stands before them, dimly flickering as before.
"She sees as I see. Speak, and she will hear. Her focus is on the Divine, but know that under her light, all is witnessed and made eternal. You speak of a tunnel beneath the earth to avoid dangers above. What do you fear in this forest, in the realm of the Divine who's Domain is Safety?"

An arched eyebrow belies great frustration at the deer's snorting. Was he losing his touch with the ladies?
But then notices a sculpted brute hailing him, and is all serene smiles again.
"Ah, this one thought you had a bit of a problem with two apex primals hounding your homes. How could this one stand by and allow such injustice to continue?"

He gazes at the broken antlers with naked wonder, desire, and forlornness.
Another apex, lost to heaven's whimsically distributed fortunes.
"But it seems you've retaken control of the situation, and will have that beautiful piece of primal chaos. I see in your eyes a function to be carved out of its bone, sinew, and flesh, to the last thimble"

He knows better than to plead. But he was also oh so very tired of being toyed about by fate, as if every apex had an engrained desire to be taken by any but him, even to death, and worse.
"Can you not be persuaded to allow me another chance to make it see reason, away from its destructive impulses? It would be cruel to deny the world such beauty, for base sustenance"

The bigger god watched the other one with pursed lips. He did feel slightly bad but..."I'm afraid I cannot do that. This one has been a calamity on these people for a few generations and I can hardly deny them this. They will keep its corpse. Furthermore, I predict I may fight a more powerful foe eventually and I will need of what materials I can scavenge without harming its mana generation."

Then he studies the man's face and sighs heavily. "This isn't the first time this happens to you is it?" He turns to stare at the west for a moment. "There's another one nearby...but I wish to make that one kneel myself. It only respects strength and while I do not doubt you could try your charms on it," He turns back to look at Huang "You do not appear to be much of the warrior type. It will kill you and your companions relatively effortlessly should you approach it like that. I would know as I fought with it previously."

He points an arm towards the North "However, there is another of these 'Apex' far north. I do not know what it looks like or what it can do, but I know the north is generally quiet and it does not seem surrounded by many other gods. I think you could tame that one easily enough, though I would be careful about that annoyingly bright light over there if I were you, that is also a deity as you can probably tell." He now points directly to the Southeast. "This one...is getting closer to my city I think, but it's not quite there yet. Frankly I never ventured south or very far to the East so I know nothing about how your attempts could go."

Makrópnoos face Huang once more and leans on his sword "I would not interfere should you go after either of those two, and as slight compensation for..." He waves his hand at the scene "...this, I could do you a favor of your choosing once I'm done with my business in this region or perhaps even help with your hunt should you wish for it. What do you say?"

He thinks a bit. "Oh right, what would be your name stranger? I realise this is our first time meeting and we haven't even introduced ourselves! I go by Makrópnoos, though many call me the Godking these days, courtesy of this Crown." He gestures at Laurelios, and Huang can tell that it is no mere crown but a deity in its own right.

"Hoh hoh hoh" the old man laughs good naturedly, even as his gaze turns steely. "There are worlds of strength not tied to martial might. You would do well to recognize that, o' monarch"

He gestures southeast.
"Why, just to this one's east was a false dragon of many necks and its syrconite kite, with no true strength of its own, but followers numbering legion and speech that devours sense and invades the soul. It has joined this one's pantheon out of as much fear for itself as it did loneliness, though it will never admit to either"

Then he gestures closer, to the thicket of thorns and spikes.
"And therein you see this one's rarely leashed disciple, of soul unmarred and body unwittingly stained with the blood of millions. His own followers fear and love him, as they should, but in turn they fear none else, and love naught except that which can show them greater strength"

Finally, he pats on Heliodos's snoozing head.
"And even away from them, this one is never helpless"

Insult addressed, he allows his gaze to soften.
"Far be it from this one to deny a blood debt repayment. And farther still to impose on one's moste honest hunt" conceal the bitterness, conceal it! "This one wishes you well on both of your hunts. If you wish to compensate this one for distracting Zolt..."

Huáng begins pondering.

He gestures west.
"This one's disciple, Tsss, has long wished for his own apex. He fields his followers at this very moment, to hunt down and kill that Warvorn of yours"

Huáng taps his sword on the ground imperiously.
"Kill as thou wilt. If the corpse makes it to Thornshade, it is this one's disciple's to keep. Intercept it, and they will have saved you the trouble of the fight. No fortune, this, but test of pure skill against skill. What say you?"

The lack of Thaumites to defend every single unworthy disciple in the sect from wayward unsubstantiated thoughts would cripple lesser sects. But for Mount Ao, every setback was a chance to improve.
Theatrical performances and lessons on the gulf between appearance and reality do much, but it is the lesson on turning a jade beauty's own charms on her that find much purchase in the hearts of disciples.

Those that would fall to the charms of a jade beauty, selling soul and dignity alike for a second look were legion, and so demand would fall with such great supply.
But those that would spurn such charms, barely granting them any attention, and in turn continuing on with their day, would guarantee a second look, and a third. Greater than any beauty's beauty was her ego, and the ego was key to many a downfall. If not the jade beauty's herself, then those that thought themselves her equals.

>>Mortrose, The Primordial Lindwyrm of Rebirth

The sane method has been attempted, with arguable success. Her rival queen was spared the worst and yet lives. Drakatron's people remain... mostly alive if not the town. Xenoq's entourage mill about still breathing. This being a mixed bag of an outcome, but nevertheless Mortrose's hoard swells with numbers previously unconsidered. Truly, hiding in shelter looking to slowly eek out a living from investments would not grow her hoard at the rate she'd hoped. That foolish drakatron and northern beast too much the pacifists.

She would have to take direct action.

And so, the prior backup plan had become the primary plan. Today, she would make history, or she would make fools of herself. With the line between foolishness and boldness determined only by one's success.
Luckily for her, all others who could bare witness to the actual outcome were too far away to see, allowing the snake to spin her story at her leisure.

Drakatron screams in fury as the hulking insect escapes. About half a second later, he also realizes Coen's Grave appears to have been completely obliterated by whatever that heat beam was, along with a non trivial portion of the surrounding countryside. A half-second after THAT, he realizes that the damnable insect that has been the subject of his increasingly maniacal mono-focus appears to have fled straight into the heavily walled off southern continent.

After a flex of divine might to repair the worst of the damage, the great dragon sets off in pursuit of the prey.

"It is most intriguing to hear tales of your people. Admittedly it was hard for my people for many years to see yours as, well, more than marauders. But, times have changed, and we have enjoyed a great time of peace after making proper contact. I am sure it was the same on both ends; it can be challenging to see the benevolence and value of another life unlike yourself, until you have been made acquainted."

Jahera lights up at the opportunity, continuing nervously.

"Oh, of course! My favorite Vessel is the one from my great grandmother Jehane's time, Gerniet the Fiable. They were the second of only two vessels of House Yros, our seekers of lost knowledge. Us Listeners can see through the eyes of our Listeners, at most times, and it was this age where we were enabled to see things far from home. Gerniet traveled the world to the North, inviting all to witness beautiful landscapes, culture and people, and even terrifying monsters never before seen. It was so inspirational that many left to join Gerniet in Vesper Keep, and it is there they still pursue this dream of a life not beholden to traditionalist values and responsibilities. My great grandma left with a band of explorers to go there, and one day I hope to do the same. It's this dream, and these stories, that many of us here cling onto to inspire ourselves to change things for the better."

Realizing she has grown a bit carried away in her own ramblings, the little knight adjusts her posture.

"...Forgive me, tsss, sir. I will not bore you with too many tales of our meager lives. I must imagine an ancient God as yourself has many responsibilities to attend to. We will not keep you, but I will greatly cherish this unique memory you've given me. It is not often a Listener gets to speak with a God!"
>>

>Communicate [Lys]
The band of knights chuckle amongst themselves in reaction to Lamedh inquiring where Gerniet is. Before their laughing stifles to breath room for a response, the demigod unveils the true extent of power Lys channels through her. Their laughter cuts to silence, overtaken in stoic fear of the supernatural magicks that transform their surroundings, if only for a moment. Returning to the dark, the knights murmur, rallying closer as they steel their spirits.

"Gerniet is dead. And so too are the two vessels that followed, as well as however many more infantile Vessels those miscreants with the House Unmourned have drowned. Unlike whatever you two are, each one of us have a grave waiting for us back home, Vessels included. I wouldn't hurt yourself mourning them, especially not a 'knight' of House Yros who spends their time helm deep in mycelium folds, or chasing dreams of playing God like that runaway you met."

The brazen knight does not appear to guise his words when speaking his mind, speaking as though he personally has little to lose, not entirely to the pleasure of his comrades. However, the tensions inability to hold him back, if nothing else informs the twin demigods it is this confidence that facilitates his leadership and their trust in him. Responding to Lamedh's final inquiry, the knight of House Morcair continues.

"No offense to you or that divine lamp of yours, but its tall freaks like yourself, transporting us or our minds to places beyond our will, that give us something to fear. My men have families to return to, and aye its trade we seek, but what we offer doesn't come without assurances. This domain is your safety, and our safety is in the damp and dark beneath the dirt. We live different lives, you and me. I'm sure your folk and old Gerniet were chums, but I only know his name from history folds, and whatever that trick was you pulled was the first of any sort of magick I've ever witnessed. Trust is earned, and that would start with us sticking to our tunnels. Besides, if such a place as this is so impenetrable to dangers, what harm could come from our passage whether under or above the substrate?"

>>Mortrose, The Primordial Lindwyrm of Rebirth

The harrowing lands of bottomrite teem with untold monstrosities of overwhelming size, elegant indestructible scales, untold destruction, and great draconic visages. And also this random metal man with an island designed like his face, now, apparently. Teamwork between these proud and aloof beasts have been intermittent at best, but now brought together in the urge to bring a great Apex to heel, it is time to finalize such allegiances. And not just because the metal man is capable of harnessing these apex primordials and we need such a pact to sort out the ownership of said apex's affects.

>Major: [Form Pantheon] [2DI] - The Dragon's Dogma of Dominance - Pantheon for Mortrose, Drakatron, Laqura, and Xenoq (on account of his flying blue draconic primal that deigns to accompanying him, allowing the other members to save face).
>Base Pantheon Ability - Dragon's Dominance - Dragons are inherently superior, thus we can trade non-dragon like units among other members like pawns and simple belongings. From the lowliest menial to the greatest Apex. (if we are able to give it an ability with the first DI put into a pantheon, if not, then just make this the 'make pantheon' part.)
>2nd Pantheon Ability (from the second DI) - Official Pantheon Afterlife - Seeing as all other members lack their own afterlives, Mortrose has taken the liberty of... providing one for all the others. Such selflessness on her part. All pantheon members' mortals share the same afterlife, with Overturn of Heavens ~ Rite of Right to the Soul providing an overwhelming seizure of their souls into Encased in Clay ~ Added to the Hoard.
First three dice spirit check.

Meanwhile, Kentrose is set to work on a most important task. Poking at beaches and seeing if glass can be made with suitable taste to her Lady. The basic glass made in kilns come out a boring clear color, certainly useful but in the already red-tinged world beneath the Serpent's Paths, it must be even redder to show off such contrast and saturation. A quick accident with Daemu Fen spilling into the cracks in the sand does succeed in making a glass of soothing light green coloration in open sunlight, but in the red underworld it's an unsightly brown. That won't do at all, but it does provide the idea of adding the ruddy glepnal instead...

>Major: [Develop] [Mana] - ShadowGlass Making (enhanced Sand Collection general tech) - By mixing in the barest amount of glepnal particulate into sand mixtures before glazing them into a Red-tinged glass, Kentrose is able to use them to faciliate the remarkable - highly aesthetic glass windows, lenses, and baubles that'll assuredly please her lady's tastes. The ability to inscribe wyrmscrawl into transparent material is only an added bonus, of course.

>Rolling 5 separate 2d10s for each wall's defense check vs the breath.
While it wasn't prompted, considering that Venthazek did attack my walls, I'm rolling defense for each one (delicious Fort XP). Both in part because they have Glepnal Mud's heat resistance properties to them along with decent structural integrity and soak, while also supposedly Venthazeks' heat beam attack decays in power the more it has to cut through. I imagine the first 3 or so are totally toast, but there is a decent chance that after the first 3, the damage might've been enough for the fourth wall between him and the settlement to still be standing. At the very least, the amount of bleed off through 4 walls, a settlement, an Apex Primal, and a god might be enough to give the final one a chance at survival rather than taking more than 15 damage in a single hit.

With their goddess already committed to battle, the rest of Her forces move with their own purpose.

The Gatedameu, undoubtedly the strangest of the Children, have taken their cultivation to an unprecedented extreme. The Hollowed Way was originally a meditation practice, meant to empty one’s thoughts of conflicting desires, and calm one’s nerves to the oncoming Change. Yet the Gatedameu, know for their eccentricities and spatial parlor tricks, took to the practice in a literal sense. Thought improbable due to their size, they were able to warp their internal space to vastly increase their spatial capacity, often to levels of outright absurdity.

The Gatedameu were hardly shy with their tricks, often dazzling their followers with magnificent feats, and challenging them to the craft in the heart of the Mana Cove. Though many failed, the talented prevailed, some with crafted wooded box of extraordinary capacity, and others with the ability to transform their own Change into this…Way of Hollowed Wood. For nothing snared the imagination of the Childrem more, than pulling hare out of their metaphorical hat.

Their words are informal, even flippant, but the Knights's impropriety wouldn't draw any ire or retribution from Lamedh, or the looming Daleth behind her. Their early laughter is met with chiming giggles from the Liten around - they laugh for laughter's sake, of course, for they can't know what amuses the Knight's so. A few of them are growing distracted in some way or another, as children are wont to do, amusing themselves among the thick, winding roots of the celestial trees.
((damn, I shoulda called these Celestrees or Celestreeials, not Glintwood))

"You have a strange irreverence for the Divine makers, but that is the way of the south, no? Lys' sight reigns far and wide, and I often catch glimpses of the danger and violence the other Divine's are prone to through our shared vision." Lamedh says, giving a slight smile, the one she saves for broken children and survivors. The Kikka were the last to see this smile, their violence drowned in a God's benevolence. "The wider world is harsh, but Gerniet's... death, such as it, was a product of his nature, as you say. We celebrate his existence, and his travels - His death was his own, not born of another's malice, and that is always something to wish for. I cannot imagine the strange relation between your own Divine and yourselves, but harsh words and mockery are rarely welcome, and even more rarely of any real value."
This was obviously said in response to them calling her a freak, but her smile doesn't falter, and she continues unbothered.

"The Divine care for us - yes, us. Do not mistake me for a Demigod, for though I bear a Spark, I once was as you were. I remember hunger and pain, death and grief. These are what Lys' light shields us from, you know, but we will not impose it's comfort on you unless you do us harm. This land is peaceful, it's inhabitants kind."

She moves to place a palm on one of the glittering trees, her touch causing the bark to display a distant nebulae of pinks and greens. She stirred at it idly for a moment, the gasses twisting around her fingertips in lazy circles. She was clearly deep in though, but still maintaining that timeless serenity she was suffused with.

"A tunnel below would guarantee distance from the realm above, but only for a time. The roots of these trees grow deep, and through their glow, Lys is known. Her Light will fill these tunnels, even if only in a gentle glimmer, as it does here." She says eventually, gesturing at the vibrant night sky around them. "If you wish to bring the dangers of the south to these lands by secrecy beneath the earth, know now that it is already a failed venture. The unknown is a threat, and so Lys strives to see all, and the earth itself will not prove difficult to pierce should she so wish. Acknowledge this, and swear no harm on our land and peoples, and Lys will allow what you wish to pass."

"Well I hate to step on the primroses that are the manner in which you people speak, but harsh words and mockery are plenty valuable, they are something we owe to those who don't earn their honor. Respect is achieved, and it is the responsibility of any to remind his fellow knight of that he has neglected. You celebrate Gerniet's little romantic and philisophical journey, but what we remember are the three generations of unchecked politicians poking around at graves, and now I as a foreman have to get my construction drafts from some old fart over the relay who is operating the brain of my dead ancestor."

The knight adjusts his reigns in a moment of silence, composing himself to bring things back on topic from what branched off of a very small insignificant of Lamedh's conversation, but all too much to resist venting over.

"...Sorry I called you a freak. Ask any one of my men here, when we are promised things like safety, comfort, shelter—It's a slippery slope into some unwritten contract that either keeps you honorbound in indentured servitude the rest of your years, or has you wandering off in a trance towards some lizard temple who knows where. So forgive me when I lash out from hearing the same culty jargon. Let's just take a step back. Your lamp doesn't want some moldy soldiers marching in from the south, and I won't make some vow that dooms my future reincarnation should the big men in charge flip their lids. Let's meet in the middle. We will build one of our relays in a town of your choice, and our people will spend some generations exchanging ideas with your walking windchimes, and when things go well we can discuss something more committal. The lead Knight's explanation of the repercussions of Gerniet's absence has Lamedh giving a sympathetic smile, acknowledging the Knight's words with a "you're right" nod and affirming hand gesture.
"It sounds like his absence caused you great troubles indeed. I'm sorry that you suffered so, and at the hands of your own people no less. For our part in ushering him north, I also apologize. It was my gift that helped guide him on, a map so that he may never be lost. Your apology is appreciated, and thank you for understanding our fear of southern dangers. These other...'cults' sound rather horrific, if true. We will endeavor not to betray the trust of any who come our way, and allow them to leave unswayed if they have meant us no harm."

She chuckled lightly. "We will also take care to gently remind any other of your travelling Spark-bearers to not neglect their duties at home, you have my word."

Daleth speaks up, a rumbling, grating voice like armor grinding against itself.
"Your politicians seem at fault here, more than Gerniet. We also have 'politicians', of a sort, but..." He trails off.

Lamedh gestures at the surrounding Liten, more of who are now openly playing. Instruments of the same space-y wood have appeared among the group, and lilting music begins to fill the air, lively but quiet.

"They mostly run for 'elections' to set whatever fashion trend they have in mind into motion. At worst, you end up with clashing colours and mismatched socks." She explains with a tittering laugh.

She straightens her robe, pristine as they are, and gives a quiet cough. Her tone become regal again, speaking with utmost formality once more. She 'steps' into the air, balancing on strings of light,
rising to stand before the Knight, eye-to-eye. "Your idea has merit, Knight of House Morcair. I will agree to a communication relay on behalf of Lys, and look forward to the exchange of ideas. May I have your name, so that we can agree as equals?"

Daleth sighs from where he stands, his great spear dropping as he shakes his head. "There's going to be so much paperwork, you know. How and why these little ones love writing and signing such lengthy scrolls is beyond me. Regardless, you and your men are welcome to stay as you like; I'm sure we have room to spare in Hidden Forest, what with the expansions."
>>
>>6412578
The knight hops down from his steed, skipping forward and gestures in a playful curtsy.

"Ser Otis Morcair, at your service. The bulk of us will not be staying, but a handful of these sorry suckers and their future kids are going to have to stay and operate the relay, at least until your folk learn to strum a fold as well as they fill scrolls. If the most you have to worry about are the color of your socks, I think they will get on just fine. Although we may have to send some men up from Southern Spire here and there or in the long-term things are going to get a bit dicey in the propagation department! Hah!"

The tense mood previously tangible amongst the knights is eased by Ser Otis' tone, and certainly helped by the resolution of their diplomacy, as his jest is followed by a wave of chuckles and metallic slaps on the back.

"It brings me pleasure to know we can see eye to eye, and to know your brother here didn't lose his voice after all, that silent stare was beginning to frighten me! Alas, I know my men are excited to see more of this wonderland of yours. Lead the way, would you, Lady Lamedh, 'one who Lys shines through'?"

Over the course of their meeting, the two semi-divinities would have come to observe a great change in demeanor in Ser Otis, particularly following the request of his name. There is an apparent truth to the knight's claim of earned honor, as in one moment he tosses out brutish names and accusations, and the next a delightful and respectful tone.

While your Sharpclaw’s airships are sturdy constructions, bristling with weaponry, their speed and maneuverability…leave something to be desired. Thus, your people seek to iron out this flaw. They begin by improving on the airship’s design, making the hull sleeker, leaner, sharper, so that it might better cut through the air, before building large dorsal, ventral, and lateral vents into the massive, stitched-together animal hides that keep them aloft. The seals covering these openings can be released at a moment’s notice, letting out a burst of hot air that propels their airship off whichever way the pilot desires with surprising alacrity. Of course, to supplement the hot air vented out as a part of this maneuver the crew members stoking the fire in the belly of the ship are forced to redouble their efforts, but they’re always the lowest in wealth and status on the ship, so what is lost, really? Aerodynamics developed.
To rebuild on the still-warm, carbonized trench carved where a thriving settlement had only recently sat, now atomized by some act of divinity or nature, would seem to any outside observer to be an act of profound stupidity or recklessness. Fortunately, your people are empowered by an emotion far hardier and more profound than the likes of hope, determination, or persistence in the face of adversity: They are driven by spite! Coen’s Grave (re)built.

Though you have long been on friendly terms with both your neighbours to the North and South, your relationship has more so been one of friendly acquaintances than it has a tighter form of bond. Now, however, seeing how the world has developed around you and seeks to perhaps leave you behind, it is important that you endeavor to change that. To that end you form the beginnings of a covenant with your longtime fungal trading partners, and their own allies, with whom you have had less contact but been assured as to the trustworthiness of. Royal Pantheon (1/2) developed.
Volk, meanwhile, continues his period of quiet contemplation. He continues to roll over his previous contemplations of the nature of the ashlands, and the volcano’s place with it. Sure, it could perhaps be considered an organism in its own right, but could the ashlands themselves not be considered some great living things as well? Are the volcanoes not, then, akin to a vital organ? Regardless of whether he’s reached some profound philosophical insight or has simply reached some manner of delirium due to the excessive period of self-isolation, he at last feels a connection form with the nearby volcanoes, flooding limbs and magmatic blood with natural, geothermic power. At first, your Disciples think this “weighted equipment” to be a laughable challenge, relative to the harsh, back-breaking labour they have been forced to endure in the past. Sure, it’s a bit heavier than what they usually carry around during the day, but compared to heavy steel plates, or great boulders, it’s barely even worth mentioning. Perhaps this is some subtle attempt by their masters to give them some time off? That pleasant thought lasts for about two hours. By the third hour they are sweating and panting, every movement, even standing up or moving, seeming like an exertion, and the less said about performing their regular training under these conditions the better. Nevertheless, the body adapts (or dies, in a few cases, but putting that in the proverb would lower morale), and after several months of the usual suffering your Disciples are able to handle this new training gear with their usual adroitness, and easily handle less intentionally heavy loads while out in the field besides. Turtle Shell developed.
Though these attempts to intentionally divert their attention are, at first, rather unsuccessful, the Disciple’s clumsily feigned lack of interest rather apparent to the object of their desire, eventually the practice begins to bear fruit, your Disciples carrying themselves with the aloof, detached air of a scholar that draws in several curious beauties and fairies, provided it’s paired with the right features. While the Spine diverts the worst of the light radiating from your incandescent neighbour’s realm away from Onn, it unfortunately is not a perfect solution, the light still irritating your people’s eyes whenever they face it head on, or cast their gaze in the wrong direction, especially as they approach the border between realms. Thus, to put a permanent end to this particular malady, you carefully fashion small, refractive spectacles of tinted quartz, capable of diffusing the light and protecting your people’s eyes no matter how (concerningly) long they stare at Lys. Though there is still a degree of delay, shifting(?) the positions of these celestial bodies in a way discernible to those below no easy task even for those trained in the art by the Wonderful Wadusi, and finding said positions in the vast, starry night taking a moment even for the best trained sky readers, compared to relying on more physical methods of coordination the difference is, if you’ll pardon the pun, night and day. In a matter of moments, rather than hours, your gunners are able to quickly coordinate their efforts and lay down a blistering rate of fire on a single target, dozens of cannons barking out a synchronized symphony of destruction. With no meddlesome, controlling Godking to block their ears or eyes, House Nelyth can at last hear the whispers within the haze, feel the great, unthinking divinity that lurks within every spore, from those spread by the tallest fungal cap to the lowliest tunneling insect. Even within their bodies they can sense its presence, lurking beneath the surface, a connection they seek to further reinforce with the Corpsemold, unconcerned for whatever ills it might inflict upon their flesh. After all, they are not ills at all when they are a blessing from divinity, are they not? Ingrained Sporology developed.
Wherever these misbegotten thieves might come from, and wherever they may go, they will undoubtedly be pleased with this newly given “gift”, the spores that now serve as an extension of your Listeners practically indistinguishable to the naked eye and insidious in their ability to spread, giving to those that would covet your people’s goods the same blessing that was bestowed upon the Listeners so long ago, albeit in a far harsher form. The Kikka must admit, even by the sadistic standards of the tssslands, that these newly dubbed “Drop Thorides” are a uniquely unpleasant menace, their silent, quickly-executed ambushes leaving even the most able-eyed hunter with little time to react, and even worse odds of surviving if they are “stuck” with the attacker’s thorn, left to die in agonized pain as they nurture a newly-laid brood of the nasty little buggers within their own body. New source of horrific fatalities aside, though, your people are quick to find that diluted doses of the compound normally administered through their dorsal thorn make for a potent cleansing agent, killing any manner of bacteria or germ when it is administered, the slight sting that accompanies even the watered-down version as it strips a layer or two from their scales barely even qualifying as an inconvenience. Wondrous as even initial observations, scans and extrapolations predict them to be, it’s no surprise your people are drawn to the writhing pools of primordial nanites. > A Drop Thoride Collection tech where surgical tools are kept clean with drop thoride acid, dramatically reducing the incidence of infections.

The Kikka, especially those called to service as warriors, are no strangers to injury, but unfortunately those who are called to the fledgling field of medicine are far rarer than those called to the well tread path of violence. Nonetheless, what kikka bonesaws lack in experience they tend to make up for with enthusiasm, well known for their well kept collection of surgical tools of myriad shapes and sizes. Unfortunately these enthusiastic ‘doctors’ tend to lose a concerning number of patients not to blood loss or internal damage, but from the sinister spectre of infection.

It is by a turn of luck that improvement is made. A nameless surgeon found his home infested with drop thorides, and wielded the tools of his trade in defense, smearing many blades with the acid of the little menaces. Then he was called to an urgent bit of surgery, blades still smoking from the acid. The patient screams twice as much, and yet, no infections!

Truly, tsss provides. Soon enough thoride knife blocks are the standard means of storing surgical tools.

> Develop. MA. Divine Butchery
> Prereqs: Pristine Surgical Tools, Qi Core Theory, Lootboxes, Something Sharp (Jold and Joldworking or Sablewood)
> This ability tech allows Kikka units to use a UI to butcher and package divine remains into carriable packages, identifying key mana and/or divine rich portions of the corpse and discarding more mundane bits to reduce size and weight.

A mad idea has taken root among the warriors of the kikka. A mad, dangerous idea, the sort that will likely get them all killed. It is common knowledge that vast, titanic creatures walk the world, each one a powerful creature from which ancient power rolls off like smoke from a fire. The idea of mortal hands striking such a creature down is thoroughly insane. Even more insane is the idea of killing such a creature, perhaps under the care of a god, and absconding with the titanic corpse. And yet, the madness of the idea is its own lure. Such a feat would be worthy of a song! A legend! The attention of a faerie of Mount Ao! And so plans are made, the corpses of ancient beasts studied, the sages of Mount Ao consulted, the finest gatewood luggage designed and the sharpest butcher’s tools acquired straight from the surgeons. The Kikka will hunt the biggest prey they can find! And return with trophies to boot!

I've provided some clarifications to the serpent path placements from last turn to MOP.
WE GO FOR GREED!!!
>>6413298
That loathsome lizard dares to overlook The Grandest Lady and Dragon of the Southern Isles? It will pay for such unbridled insolence with its dignity, mobility, then it's life! With a great roar the Mudwyrm gives chase along the coastline as the grand cataclysm leisurely swims at a breakneck pace through the Strait between the two islands. Earth undone and overturned by a roaring mudslide and seas boiling from a constant nuclear fusion, the death toll of their chase alone soared among the animals and ecosystem.

As the great challenger came upon the spanning aquaduct system, swimming under the great pipeworks and pillars that vessels painstakingly built from the seafloor up, a second group appeared. Fearless, loyal, by no choice of their own, the Hollow Vessels numbering in the hundreds yet capable of building vast works thanks to the ever flowing glepnal of their Lady stand ready and at attention. With a nuclear furnace starting to cross under their insignificant bridge, and a roaring landslide starting to rise from the earth and along the pipes towards them, a flurry of Kosks decending on their heads calls them to attention, and they begin their trap-

>[Unit Action] - Northern Lady's Decor - Providing their lady assistance, rather than Building 8 constructs this turn, they'll use the 8 constructs worth of glepnal flowing through the aquaducts, and their applicators, to pour atop the primal as it tries to cross through the strait hex of <30,19>, tarring it up before it solidifies near instantly in the heat, muddying the waters, and giving Mortrose a far easier time intercepting it than she would by herself. Provide a bonus to the intercept action.

>[God Unit] [DI] - Intercept-Tactic - ALL THE GREED. Move to the great spanning bridge-aquaducts on <30,19>, then attempt an intercept-grapple on Venthazek, preventing it from moving to <32,16> and getting it in a grappled state.

Bending down to chop off the rest of the antlers Makrópnoos turns the moment into an impromptu lesson on the dissection of a primal for the listeners present. He could say he had a little experience in the subject...

Finishing his work, he pulls out a comically large ticking mechanical pocket clock from his toga, appropriately scaled for a giant of his stature. ''As much as I'd like to help you drag this bag to your Lake, I'm short on time currently.'' He nodded his head at Syriset. ''Tell this thing to drag it, the other gods are gone or about to go so you should be fine. I'll be in the region should something about again, farewell little ones.'' Putting the clock away, he begins to walk towards Eastern Reach.

>Give Zolt material to Tsss before he moves away!
>Communicate with Tsss
Passing the city completely, he stops before the massive form of the death urchin. Carrying Zolt's antlers on his shoulders,he shouts at Tsss. ''Here it is,strange god, make sure it is put to good use will you?'' Then he winds back and throws it hard at him. Not easy to ''give'' something to a being several times your size in a conventional way.

Moving away from the chaotic god, Makrópnoos stops not far from a depopulated city, courtesy of the calamitous beast having detonated in the area...

He sits down cross-legged, resting his sword on his lap, and then begins to meditate once more. He knew the Beast King would come back to fight so he was in no rush this time.

He focused on the Crown, bonding with it deeper as it improved itself and creating a sympathetic link that would transfer any damage it took to himself instead. It would not do to have the Crown fall to pieces in the middle of a battle.

Next was the long and difficult part. Makrópnoos wasn't a man of flowery words and so he knew he would always have difficulty converting primals, let alone an Apex so he would need to find a way to make them Kneel through martial might alone. The issue was not simply converting whatever he defeated, the issue was keeping them alive through the subjugation process and crushing their will regardless of their Obstinance. To this end, Laurelios was the best vector to achieve this, as beyond its ability to make others kneel before it, it possessed the ability to bring back the souls of the dead as its servants. Was it wrong to think it could keep something from dying to begin with? At least this is what the Godking thought at first, and it would work in theory, he just hadn't anticipated all the power the crown would require to develop this power...

>Rolling to resist the Heliodos's Bad Trip Sunblast, getting caught in the crossfire of Venth, Fort since the apexes haven't been letting me farm that. 3 Dice.

With glass and rebar, sweat and steel, the Ziggurat and Mortrose's throne piles ever higher into the sky. Tireless work leads to many broken bodies which are quickly used as filler for more cement laying, as glepnal encases workers into the very buildings they labored over. Kosks flutter hither and dither, ensuring no menials are resting on their laurels, and that the many kosk-skratched plans are followed, as each one brings a clay tablet with slightly different instructions or dimensions. More than a few are executed by higher ranking Koskissars, for the crime of risking all their lives by displeasing their fair Lady. After all, though she hasn't had much time to return to lounge, if she were to lie on a slightly unleveled or misshapen mound, it would greatly tax her beauty sleep.

>Major: [Develop] - Structure Upgrade: Bablial Ziggurat to City - Meanwhile the surrounding town experiences another turnover and burial of the old under sinking mud as structures are replaced with even grander and taller buildings, the rebars facilitating more complex facets and bolder buildings to ensure ever expanding productivity and lavishing wealth for their Lady. Myriad of red-tinted glass line once empty windows, making it sparkle in the lanternlight.
Using: Tech - Glepnal Stoneforging, Architecture, Cermaic Hardening, Rebar Reinforcement, Shadow Glass Making, Glepnal Mixer Aparati. Syrconite General and Defense Tech.

With the glepnal impurities scattered about their composition, the Shadowglass, with painstaking effort and eye for detail, may have wyrmscrawl affixed to its surfaces. The most common, of course, being coherence scrawls to bend and flow wavelengths of light or Consecrator energy through them. Kentrose refines this technique extensively. Allowing, with the right cuts of crystal and application of scrawls, artisans to create great optical works and telescopes, or more often, honed laser weaponry. Though the latter often require replacement of the foci over time as the energy of the guns slowly dissolve the glass, their material composition broken down even as the bulk of it is channeled through the magical lines.

The great subterranean wyrm roils and coils with the Apex Primal, the mud its whole is comprised of sizzling and turning to blackened scales in record fashion next to the living furnace. Few others in this world would be able to withstand such perpetual and embracing contact with Venthazek, as even the heat resistant glepnal eventually sloughs off in the inferno as well, great rocks crashing into the ocean below. Yet even then a seemingly endless well of mud pours forth from the goddess to replenish her mass. Like a great coiling sea serpent eating itself as it strangulates it's aquatic catch. The great Apex roars and torments, as more mud is poured atop it from above as it clears the serpent's path, sealing its way behind and further slowing it down with troublesome cement binding it in place.

The sea begins to harden and dry, a saltbed forming as Mortrose tightens her stranglehold. The great beast's movements slow, and slow, and soon it seems that even the mighty Venth might flash fry itself in the murky waters turning into a great, boiling mudpit. Truly, a proper fight between titans shapes the very earth they stand on...
That is until a blinding beam of light and hypnotic vapors cuts across the seas, isle, and over the strait and bridge the two forces of nature clash at.

Mortrose let's loose a great shriek that quakes trees and scatters birds across the surrounding jungles. Her beady sensitive eyes and delicate skin, having long since gotten used to the pleasant, perpetual night that her cloistering miasmic walls produce and steadily suffuse the southern isles with, are set awash with The Glow. Heliodos' profound techniques born of inner mediation and sectmaster delusion; force blinding, infinite, unwanted luminescence into the eyes and mind of the subterranean creature who wishes to diminish the suns, solely for the crime of being obnoxiously bright.

And in that moment, Venthazek in a great show of strength, bodily hurls Mortrose ass over teakettle and quickly makes way for the cooler waters before it cooks itself welldone.

In the stillness of the vessel's absence, there has been but one truly capable of wielding the weave of arcane power. But as the listener armies bind the limp limbs of the conquered beast, the dragged corpse leaves a trail of empowered ichor, seeping into the metamorphosed land. This new surge of power causes a chain reaction across those bound to its source, stirring a boom of metamorphosed life flourishing within the whispering miasma, a bright glow of energy within The Lake, and an unexpected deluge of wild effects across the mana propagation pods of all Yrosian laboratories. But the greatest impact of all, was seen within one specific individual.

Shooting awake, the decrepit body of an eldery listener raises a naked fungal hand to block the light, fighting to keep his body up as he throws a lazy scan across the room. Through the blurred haze of his vision stands the... shocked frame of cloaked knights holding tiny blades? It's hard for the grizzled knight to tell with this sharp pain in his skull, as the elder reaches to find his finger touches not a sharp helm of aejold, but the squishy, sap-covered, membrane of his own exposed cerebellum. Recovering from the shock of witnessing their specimen rise from the operating table, the knights leap forward to restrain him, but with a mere raise of his hand to resist, his attackers are instantaneously consumed in a flurry of black mold, dropping their armor and scalpels in place.

The maddening capabilities of Panspermia are unlike anything touched by a Listener before, even the immortal knight-wizard Ser Greg himself. In a mere glance, Ser Cantharelius can see through an unending string of clouds. In a mere wave, he wields the spores of The Whispering Haze to a precision unimaginable. And in a mere thought, he becomes one with them, his own body reaberrating itself to travel amongst the spores. Even with such gifts, the search of House Nelyth and its new vassals will be too much. He will not hide within the low crawl of the mist, but dance amongst violent plumes that will tear through the skies, a cycle of airborne spores clotting and pressurizing until they disperse into geyser-like plumes.

The further their capships made it from The Eastern Reaches, the less vested these men were in their allegiance to Great Houses. And the dryer stockpiles ran, the more injustice was answered with a man cast overboard, and the more the laws of their old world applied to this astray band of capships, the less the average Listener aboard could care for indulged concepts such as 'honor' and 'lineage'. It was every man for himself. Respect was no more the title your father bore, but the weight of your coinpurse and the likelihood that those who defy you shall spill their sap. When at last these adrift brigands reached as south as south goes, the new House Blackhelm would lay claim to an isle where their way of life is the only way of life.

What was initially introduced to the brain network was a mere infant of its true potential, as the fungal bacteria iterates on what improves its capability to spread between individuals, keep utmost longevity through the air and one's breath, and always adapting to evade the immune system's response, until the lungs become not a place it will survive, but a place it will thrive. While things operate to utmost perfection here in the northwest, other machinations unfold back home...

A static buzz reverberates in the air, sharpening the unique concoction of mud, mold, and divine ichor. Between the ranks of House Lysander and The House Unmourned lay the trophy of The Godking's quest, its colossal ribs shedding a smoke that rises and mixes with the mist of the germination pits. Lord Alevaris of House Lysander leans heavily on his broadsword, facing Duke Voconia of the Unmourned across the clearing, who wipes black ichor from his halberd. Surrounding them, soldiers from either side tend their wounds in a fragile, suffocating silence. Dressings are tied by trembling hands, but their eyes never turn from the opposite line. Their common enemy lies dead, and so too remain the hundreds of innocents slaughtered in House Nelyth's coup.

"You fight well, Lysander. It's a shame, truly." Voconia said, his voice cutting through the quiet. "Under different stars, we might have fought under the same banners."

Alevaris spits in the mud, replying "Do not insult our dead to suggest your spineless house would have had it any other way. You serve the very masters who once enslaved your fathers. Your hands share the blame for their spilled sap."

Duke Voconia dips his head, a grim shadow casting over his helm. "We are vassals. We obey, or we hang. The world does not grand us the luxury of honor, nor the privilege of a title."

As the tension tightens like a drawstring, either side gripping their sheathed weapons until their knuckles go pale, before a low sound echoes from the fog. The rhythmic, thunderous beating of hooves bursts through the brush; A bloodstained messenger flying the banner of House Nelyth.

"Duke!" The rider gasped, dropping from the broodhorse as he scurries towards Voconia's feet. "Lord Regent Magnivel is dead, sir... All of the councilmen were... Eaten alive.. The Yrosi... They seized the conductors, the capital is overrun in Chitterlings under their control.. We lost the Lake."

The Unmourned soldiers stared in horror, processing that in their absence another House has seized the power they hinged everything on. But how? House Nelyth did not have to relinquish control of The Conductor, they have always held all the cards... This wasn't the plan. "It was never about removing House Vaelith. There's something greater at work." Alevaris breaks the silence, and for a moment, a new path forward has materialized. A common enemy occupies the capital, and in one place stand more trained swords than anywhere else in the world. Alevaris lowers his sword, reaching out a gauntlet to offer a real alliance.

But the weight of history is a crushing thing. Beside Lord Alevaris stands a young lieutenant, keeled in grief and rage, staring down the half-armored Unmourned Soldiers. "They knew!" The lieutenant screamed, his voice cracking with madness. "They knew what their masters were! They slaughtered Lysandros and dragged us out here to unravel all of the progress we have fought for!"

Before Alevaris could shout a command, hytox arrows loosed overhead, one planting itself deep into the throat of the messenger, as the choked Listener collapses into the dirt. "No!" Alevaris roared, but in an instant, the pits erupted into a chaotic melee, charging over the corpse of Zolt to spill sap.

A particularly gifted craftsman by the name of Yan Shi approached the sectmaster of Mount Ao. Bowing low, he presented an offering. A doll of jold, soft and supple, animate and lifelike.
The sectmaster took the doll in hand, and bid it dance. And dance it did, with sensuality fit to ruin kingdoms, grace to make the heavens weep, and limberness to sink minds into the gutter.
"Soulless", sectmaster Huang declared with disdain, for he saw through the empty shell.
"Where is her heart?" he sneered, as his finger stabbed through her chest. *BADUMP* her body shook and rumbled, energy flowed, but to nowhere.
"Where are her meridians?" he jeered, as his finger traced a path across her skin, carving out a glowing web of tendrils that quickly expanded. The energy had a path, but no destination. Her fingers twitched. Not beautifully, desperately, not lifelike, *life!*
"Where is her vital Yin?" he finished off, as the finger plucked out of her lower belly an impossibly complex mechanism, crushed with barely a look. In its place, a Taijitu glowed, all the energies feeding into it, and in turn, granting the cycle its conclusion. The doll gasped, voice most melodious.
"Reflect, and come to me in the morrow with what you have learned" he commanded the craftsman, as he took the doll to the dew baths to rest.

Night passes, and Yan Shi is plagued with remorse at his failure, fear at the sectmaster's punishment.
Delirious he awakens, raving he arrives to the sectmaster, and demented he requests the sectmaster grant him the doll's children, that he may care for them, and learn from his failure.
"Cripples you shall receive, and in healing them, you will have proven your worth. You have chosen well, Yan Shi" the sectmaster declared.
>>
>>6415326
No land within the sect could they obtain, designated for people, not dolls. Yan Shi would take the hollow children to the outskirts of the city, where wildlife seeping from the tssslands prowled and hunted. Fearful, he would take refuge with them in the shadow of a pair of Longs.
"The sectmaster is near?" the Longs would ask. "Why, this land is blessed!" they would think. And in so thinking, they dream. And in so dreaming, the land becomes the sectmaster's, blessed and workable with ease, with nary a beast that could see Mount Tai in sight.
In time, the hollow children would construct Jiaos, honoring the Longs that watched over them. Those without the credentials to inhabit the Mount Ao sect would flock over to them, and the hollow children would have more to serve.
And in the hollow children so reinforcing the Longs' dream, preening and clipping them to shine with the radiance that would pull the sectmaster's eye, the Longs become ever more healthy, active, and... imaginative.

Though the worst of the devastation is (your people dearly hope, anyways) far behind them, the scars that have been left in its wake have inspired a newfound appreciation for softer, less martial pursuits in many. For purely utilitarian reasons, admittedly, but it’s better than nothing. One expression of this branch is the creation of infirmaries, accumulations of what scarce medical knowledge and herbology your people have learned beyond “just rub some spit into it”, intended to treat those wounds which the Sharpclaws cannot simply soldier on through. Though the proudest of hunters and warriors consider visiting such places beneath them, no matter the severity of their state, their untimely deaths serve as a rather effective way of quickly weeding out those unwilling to heed the wisdom of the healers. Infirmaries developed.
Another expression of this new approach, born from the starvation of a not-insignificant number of those forced to squeeze into the rocky, honeycombed chunk of Coenabalu’s shell over the course of the conflict, is a tendency to actually preserve a portion of their food for future use, instead of simply devouring everything down to even the marrow of the bones for fear that a rival might seek to steal it. This newly developed practice culminates in the Granary, a massive superstructure fit to surpass all but the Garrison in size, capable of storing years’ worth of food with which to endure even the leanest of times. Admittedly it will take some time to be fully stocked, your people aren’t quite that forward thinking, but no doubt it will get there eventually. Granary built.

Finally, your alignment with your longtime trading partner and his allies (apparently the Crown the statuesque god wears atop his brow is also some manner of divinity, which you suppose is not so surprising given your own semi-inanimate nature) is set in stone, an invisible bond now formed between you conveying to you the vast expansiveness of the fungal empire, the technological marvels of Humanity, and the majesty of the city of Royalty. You’re glad your new colleagues do not fall short of your expectations, though you are confident that the strides your Magma Spawn have made are more than fit to match those of their civilizations. Your new bond is also rather immediately put to the test by an urgent request for a portion of the energy you harvested from your winged companion, with promises that it will eventually be returned with interest. You hope this isn’t the beginning of some sort of trend…Royal Pantheon joined.
This newly tightened bond, you are pleased to see, carries with it several immediate boons, foremost of which being noticeably increased trade between the Listeners and your Magma Spawn. A bit less fortunately, this new influx of orders and deals sends the logistics of the Black Wagon, which had already been teetering in recent years, tumbling off of a cliff. Unwilling to see profits lost over the likes of poor bookkeeping, the newest high priest, still emboldened by the fieriness of relative youth, veritably barges into the chambers of the Pyroclastic Council which has thus far been content to let the system languish in its current state, demanding reform. Mostly swept up in the momentum and talks of yet richer margins, the Council are more than happy to agree (though said agreement is followed up by a rather stern reprimand concerning the inappropriateness of forced entry into what is ostensibly a religious sanctuary), ushering in what the high priest dearly hopes will be an age in which gold flows like magma…Logistics developed.

Unfortunately, your attempts to both figuratively and literally dazzle the massive, aquatic reptile end in failure, the only response received in return for your entreaties being a (metaphorically) cold snort and a threatening, squinted glare before its obsidian-scaled figure descends back beneath the surface, the faintly glowing dorsal vents that steam at the water around it the only obvious sign of its passage.

Already, you cannot help but admire the advancements your people have made. In truth, this is a city built entirely from their own efforts, a center of your people’s civilization that shows the heights of Granchpolpo creativity and ingenuity, containing sites that, you suspect, cannot be found anywhere else in all the world. Coral superstructures climb high into the sky, supported with and intertwined by tower, mangrove-like trees who roots and canopy your people can take shelter from the sun beneath and are sustained, in turn, by the canals and great tidals pools the cephalopodic folk have taken great pains to maintain. Yet you cannot help but wish to bestow a blessing upon it, a sign once more of your favour and appreciation for your precious adherents. Thus, you allow your divine power to sweep over the entire city like a silent, invisible tide, the Granchpolpo none the wiser, at least at first. Over the coming days, however, the city’s inhabitants notice something…irregular. While Tidemark is always kept immaculately sanitary, this is a conscious effort on the part of Granchpolpo, to ensure that the city with their deity is so uniquely associated is kept clean and worthy of the fresh, flowing water with which they are associated. Yet with every passing day the city seems ever easier to clean. Stains, detritus and rubbish vanish from every surface, be it a wall or floor as if they were never there, naught more than a quickly evaporating pool of water left in their wake if the Granchpolpo so much as take their eyes off of the offending for a moment. As you would expect, it isn’t long before you people identify you as the rather obvious source of the phenomenon, redoubling their worship in thanks for your efforts to ensure Tidemark remains ever sanctified and unsullied. Tidemark upgraded.

Makrópnoos
Your crown, a divinity in its own right, has undoubtedly been an invaluable ally, an integral asset without which your previous string of conquests and achievements might not have been possible. Yet your recent clashes, with beasts fit to grace the bloodiest of myths and tales, have proven that your gilded compatriot is, in exchange for his unique capabilities, vulnerable in ways which you are not. No longer, you refuse to lose to a valued companion to a moment of carelessness in the heat of battle. Thus, with his compliance, you begin to draw upon your recent experiments with your inborn abilities to foresee and affect the future, forming a binding compact between yourself and your crown that will rewrite the future itself, shielding it and drawing any blows that would seek to strike it towards yourself instead, allowing the embodiment of royalty to empower you in peace. Bystander developed.
This compact is not forged carelessly, on some whim. With the ozone no longer clogging your lungs and nose you can practically smell it on the wind, the cloying, irony tang of blood rolling in from the west with a ferocity to rival any stormfront. The time of what you suspect will be your final confrontation with the great maroon beast king, whose injuries have no doubt much abated, is fast approaching. Yet for all you can even now recall the desire to fight, to die, in the monstrosity from a primeval era’s eyes, you find you cannot match its intent to kill. Its conduct, allowing you to retreat and recover even after showing your back indicates an intelligence that cannot be attributed to a mere wild animal, and the idea of a foe that you can truly face with the full extent of your might is…appealing, in a way that you cannot quite put your finger on. Thus, entrusting your divine energies to Laurelios once more, you begin to weave a great work, perhaps the greatest in all of your long life, a means by which to avert that which you cannot consider anything less than a tragedy. Mortrose
You cannot deny that the tantrum you throw after the massive, vaguely draconic reptile slips free from your coiling embrace is…slightly unbefitting of one of your figurative (and literal) stature, the surrounding landscape violently reshaped by your thrashing as you vent both your rage and the pain of being exposed to a light that you detest with almost the same vitriol as you do the ones even now hanging tauntingly overhead. Eventually, though, your anger cools, or more accurately simmers less heatedly, and you begin to go about your business as usual but one day, when that accursed excuse for a dragon is within reach of your jaws…

It’s a form of purification, they say. It will ensure that spectres and demons of disease will not seize you and drag your soul into tsss’ loving but spiky embrace, they say. That all sounds well and good, but given the…proclivities of the bonesaws (particularly heavy emphasis on the saws, in this case) most often found amongst the Kikka, those less medically enlightened cannot help but wonder if this practice of dousing their tools in acidic venom is not simply a new, novel way of extracting just a smidgeon more suffering from their patients as they “treat” them. Entirely justified suspicions aside, however, the practice does indeed produce results, your people no longer awakening one day to find their wounds gangrenous or necrotic, and is thus (very, very, very) tentatively approved by the Kikka population at large, who endeavor to very skittishly farm the pudgy lizards in much the same way they have their less lethal cousins. Pristine Surgical Tools developed.
Though Hahk ensures that the process of learning and preparing for this greatest hunt is carried out under his auspices, every new method and “inspired idea”, such as finding a large glowing weak spot to stab, checked and critiqued in triplicate, eventually, even your most skeptical subject gives ground. The ideas, while still yet to face the test that is actually hunting such a beast, are sound, even in the eyes of an elder that has laid eyes on several such beasts. With Hahk’s wary approval there is a celebration like none seen in generations before and after amongst the hunters of your people, a feast several days long in which increasingly intoxicated warriors regale their fellows with tales of the hypothetical beasts that they will hypothetically stab and butcher. Hopefully they will live long enough to see these dreams realized. Divine Butchery developed.

PRIMAL ACTIONS
Lichophern
Once more, the confused mountain of flora lashes out, this time letting out another spitfire of spores, seeds, and pollen, yet this too finds little purchase, its attempts to escape growing increasingly panicked as the tables are gradually turned (Lichophern activates Creeping Growth, but once again targets a phantom image. It rolls the first and second die, resisting Praetorian Eudaeleal’s attack).

Praetorian Eudaeleal
Mandibles chittering with glee, the monstrosity dives in once again as its final afterimage is dispelled, claws raking through the moulder mass as they search for a core or vulnerability (Praetorian Eudaelean attacks Lichophern, it rolls the third and fourth die).

Venthazek
Glaring balefully as the irritants that harangue it during its otherwise peaceful journey North, the vents running down the great reptile’s spine begin to let out their characteristic glow, the calamity preparing to once again devastate its surroundings even as it repositions (Venthazek prepares to activate Heat Lance).

Warvorn
In a single, meteoric leap, the king of predators clears the channel, arriving on the opposite bank with enough force to pulverize his surroundings and send a tide of seawater gushing down into the newly created crater. He lets out a throaty roar, the forest itself seeming to figuratively (and literally for those unfortunate trees in particularly close proximity) wilt under the pressure roiling off of the revitalized Apex in eager, crashing waves. The sonic assault echoes for leagues in every direction, an unmistakable call to brawl. It is time.

Yoregar
Unbothered, the primordial beast continues its half-submerged travel, arriving at last on the mainland once more as icicles begin to slowly shake loose from its fur.
