For thirty six years I have looked to the Mad Star for guidance, hearing in one ear his most solemn whispers, and in the other, a gibbering laughter beyond all reason. I have watched the glint of hallucination root itself in the minds of the doubtful, and I have felt the tremors of abandon creep across my bones.I have seen the gates of Oblivion beyond which no waking eye may see. Behold... in darkness a doom sweeps the land... This is the 12th of Sun's Dusk, the year of Akatosh 433. These are the closing days of the Third Era... And the sunset of sanity in Mundus.- Cadmius Cavestes, Mumbling Priest of Colovia=======================================Welcome to The Madhouse Crusade! In this quest, you play as Sheogorath, Daedric Prince of Madness and Creativity, Lord of The Never-There, The Trickster, Fourth Corner of The House of Troubles, and Sovereign of The Shivering Isles. But, you weren't always who you are now. You once told yourself that 'Daedra are the embodiment of change', and permanency too, and plenty of other nonsense. You used to be you, too, but also, you were someone else, a Champion for the Shivering Isles... And before that, a Hero... A Hero of Kvatch! That's right, he was... She? You were a hero from Nirn, you had been released from prison by a fateful encounter with the... Emperor! That's right, what a nice guy, whatever happened to him? It's so difficult to recall exactly... Oh, yes, of course: He had tasked the hero with locating his last heir, and delivering the Amulet of Kings... But the amulet was stolen by the Cult of The Mythic Dawn, while he rescued the heir and broke the siege of Kvatch by Mehrunes Dagon's forces. After that.... After that he travelled across Cyrodill, fighting back against the the armies of destruction, and other villains seeking to capitalize on the chaos. In their travels, this champion of the empire discovered a door in the Niben Bay... One which you were able to open to your realm upon the dying of the dragon fires. Seeking artifacts and knowledge with which to close shut the jaws of Oblivion, the great hero proceeded within, and parlayed with the Prince of Madness. That was you. Both of them, that is. You became the champion of the Shivering Isles in order to thwart the Greymarch and protect the realm, which eventually led to your Mantling the Mad God.>Cont'd
That brings us to now. You are Sheogorath, Daedric Prince of Madness and Creativity, Lord of The Never-There, The Trickster, Fourth Corner of The House of Troubles, and Sovereign of The Shivering Isles. Remember? Nirn is still threatened by invasion from Mehrunes Dagon and his cult. You have restored peace to your own realm... But you grow displeased as you observe the incursions of your fellow Prince in the plane of Mundus, and consider that his campaign of conquest may extend to the borders of the Isles eventually. Unbound by the old law, same as he, you've decided the best course of action here... Is to beat him at his own game, and conquer Tamriel yourself. It'll be a delightfully good time. One of the best ideas you've had in minutes, maybe weeks. But before the crusade begins in earnest, we need to make some decisions. You barely remember your most recent mortal life. You've lived a lot of lives, and had a lot of laughs. Occasionally you'll have fleeting reveries of a night camping in the Great Forest, or a sudden rememberance of warm wine in an Anvil tavern. You had accomplished much while adventuring across Cyrodill, prior to entering the door into madness. Your influence is still felt in the mortal world, and parts of your past still affect your present. What was the nature of your deeds on Nirn? Note: whatever roles you do not select will be fulfilled by others, some of whom you may encounter in your campaign. This choice will influence perceptions you have of your past, it will shape some of your options when selecting your new Champion, and will provide one benefit in the form of an artifact, companion, holding, or something else of the kind.>You were the Archmage of the Mage's Guild, having defeated Mannimarco in single combat and inherited your station from Hannibal Traven. >You disbanded the Blackwood Company and became Master of the Fighter's Guild. >You had joined the Dark Brotherhood, and uncovered the betrayer's plot, becoming the Listener of the Black Hand. >You had assumed the title of Gray Fox, leader of the Thieve's Guild, after breaking the curse on Nocturnal's Cowl. >You enlisted as a gladiator to develop your fighting skills, and went on to become the Grand Champion, wealthy beyond measure and loved by thousands. >After escaping prison, you sought out the holy relics after encountering a strange priest in Anvil, eventually becoming the Divine Crusader and defeating Umaril The Unfeathered once and for all.>Before entering the Isles, you had not ascended the ranks of any major organization, but had instead dedicated yourself to helping the citizenry as a wandering adventurer, making many friends and gathering powerful treasures. >Write-in(???)
>>6411615>You enlisted as a gladiator to develop your fighting skills, and went on to become the Grand Champion, wealthy beyond measure and loved by thousands.>We gave the Grey Prince a warrior's death, he died without ever knowing the truth of his parentage
>>6411616Also, you might wanna drop a link to the quest in the /qtg/ QM
>>6411616My friend, you've gotten just slightly ahead of yourself, but I will note the second part of your answer...Spoilers!!! *IF* Arena Champion wins, there will be a separate vote on whether the Grey Prince died without knowing the truth or not. If not, that's it for him, but if our MC revealed his parentage and he chose to be killed without a fight, that suicidal urge will count as enough of a madness for him to have passed onto the isles, making him a possible candidate for YOUR new Champion, seeing as the last one became... You! Other options come with similar implications, savvy game players may already be considering which NPCs from the major guilds and faction plots might be unlocked as possible champions by your having known them as a mortal.
>>6411622My bad, didn't know. But I like the stuff in that spoiler. I like it alot.
>>6411623All good, chum of mine! This will be a mix of first person adventure RP, cycling through the perspective of Sheo and a few of his minions, and also asset management + civ stuff. Kind of like that New Vegas quest where the courier took over the strip and was rebuilding things. But maybe with less of the insane fucking bloat around actions (no offense to the QM of that quest if you're still out there). This is actually based on a mod I played back in the day that let you send Seducers and Saints into different cities to fight the guards, and when you conquered everything there was a final showdown with Dagon's army, I remember Martin being there on your side in a set of madness armor once you seized the Imperial City - it was tight as fuck!!! As for the /qtg/.... Not really my scene! But would be appreciative if you posted a link on my behalf.
>>6411625Done and dusted. have high hopes for this quest
>>6411615>You had assumed the title of Gray Fox, leader of the Thieve's Guild, after breaking the curse on Nocturnal's Cowl.
>>6411615>You enlisted as a gladiator to develop your fighting skills, and went on to become the Grand Champion, wealthy beyond measure and loved by thousands. On the one hand, I kinda want options from the thieves or mages guild. On the other, IT'S THE GRAND CHAMPION! IT'S REALLY YOU, STANDING HERE. NEXT TO ME.
>>6411615>After escaping prison, you sought out the holy relics after encountering a strange priest in Anvil, eventually becoming the Divine Crusader and defeating Umaril The Unfeathered once and for all.O Aka, for our shared Madness I do this! I watch you watching me watching back!
Good morning anons! Looks like we barely have a consensus. I will hold back and hope for a few more votes before moving on to the next set of votes. To explain more of how this game will go... 1) Updates will generally represent the passage of a month's time. 2) Each month you will be allotted a few Major Actions and a slate of Lesser Actions which need to be voted on. Major:- 2 personal actions as Sheogorath (meeting with someone, performing a task, etc, some suggestions will usually be provided) - 1 personal action as Your Champion (once you've selected one, and this will function similarly to your actions as Sheo). One of these three will be RP'd out over the course of a few updates/rolls/votes, and players will vote on which one, while the others will be decided with a set of simple rolls. Lesser:- 2 military actions (deploy troops, establish stronghold, invade location, train infantry, recruit/bolster warriors)- 1 action for your court wizard (research phenomenon, develop magic, cast large spell/ritual) - 1 industrial action (begin construction project, repair or expand infrastructure, etc) - 1 diplomatic action (carried out by: Haskill, High Priest, Duke/Duchess, Champion, or self, also chosen by vote) Like above, one of these actions will actually be roleplayed or represented with an update/vote or two, maybe more in some cases, while the others are resolved with rolls. And also, to give a better idea of what transpired on Nirn before your ascension... Sheogorath doesn't remember clearly, it's all a haze of blood, screams, laughs, and the gossamer impressions of so many conversations. But with enough focus, he'll recall that prior to arriving in the Isles as a mortal, he had rescued Martin Septim from Kvatch, had the Amulet of Kings stolen, delivered the heir to Cloud Ruler Temple, and had actually infiltrated a secret shrine of the Mythic Dawn and somehow absconded with the Mysterium Xarxes. After handing it off to Martin for study, he had scoured the land for anything to assist in the war against Dagon, eventually ending up... Here! Martin must still be at the Blades' keep studying the book, and more feverishly than ever now that his savior has seemingly disappeared.
Very bored! very antsy pantsy to get this quest moving, gonna just drop the other chargen/starting votes now. Once I have responses, there should only be one or maybe two votes before I can kick things off. ============================There's also the matter of some routine house-keeping you've been doing since becoming the Mad God. Who did you appoint as Duke/Duchess of Mania? >Big Head, The Fork-Bearer - The artifact he bears possessed unknown power, and his loyalty is without question.>Dagail, The Farseer - powerful mage, a master of Mysticism, plagued to the point of madness by her premonitions.>Thurindil, The Ocean-Addled - Once a pirate, he is a gifted fighter and thoroughly deranged. >Zoe Malene, The Dream-Painter - One of your most inspired artistic minds, modest for her great skill. >Mirili Ulven, The Taxonomist - A compulsive student of the natural world, her need to catalogue information has made her quite wise. Who did you appoint as Duke/Duchess of Dementia?>Glarthir, The Headsman - A more paranoid mind there has rarely been, and since you claimed his soul and brought him into his realm, he has mastered the use of his battle-axe.>Nanette Don, The Flesh-Warper - She studied carefully under Relmyna, and has begun to make her own breakthroughs in the elemental magic of flesh. >Ri'Bassa, The World's End Warlock - Though you only faintly recall the escapade, you drove him to madness on your own behalf, before ever becoming the Mad God, and he has proved a capable and uniquely insane spellcaster.>Falanu Hlaalu, The Grave-Wife - With your patronage, she has become a mighty necromancer, with a stalwart retinue of undead paramours at her command.>Grommok gro-Barak, The Resurrected - He never lost a battle... until you confronted him with an illusion of having died, since the ordeal he has become all the more deadly, fighting as though he were already dead, and still has yet to lose.
It's been roughly two weeks since you ended the Greymarch and ascended to godhood. You've kept busy, and had some early successes in reviving your crumbling domain. What exactly was this triumph like? >You wiped out the Heretic cults and reformed the so-called Zealots. No longer do these hedge mages and brigands trouble the open roads. Being that they are mortal men, mer, and beastfolk, and already militarized, they could serve as infantry, battlemages, and possibly even infiltrators within the societies of Nirn. >You tamed the Grummites, re-establishing full mastery of those most peculiar creatures... Their fecundity is prodigal, and their growth to full maturity is rapid. The Grummites will make for fantastic shock troops and replenish lost numbers easily, and may also serve as a highly reliable source of menial labor. >You immediately reconstituted some of the old cities of the Isles, which have fallen into disrepair and desolation since their destruction during previous Greymarches. Vitharn in Dementia, Cann in Bliss, and Xeddefen in the Fringe have all been restored to their original glory, and have begun to be resettled. A solid jump-start on rebuilding the realm. ===================I think once these are decided and we have a winner for which faction quest our Sheo beat, I will just have a vote to select your new Champion, can't think of what else. Then it'll be go time!

Vitharn in Dementia, Cann in Bliss, and Xeddefen in the Fringe have all been restored to their original glory, and have begun to be resettled. A solid jump-start on rebuilding the realm. How can madness be appreciated if we do not have room for its groves to bloom? For all its flavors to coalesce individually and become aged as it adapts to its environment. Like a well matured cheese
>>6411934Cool beans, I'm going with the necrophiliac then
>>6411934>One of my favorite quests in oblivionBe sure you're thinking of the right artist - Rythe Lythandas has the more memorable and paint-centered quest, with his Dibella-hair brush. Zoe lives in the isles and asks you to recover her lover's medallion, from back when he was a member of the Knights of The Thorn. I have some ideas for how she might be an interesting Duchess, but she won't be able to literally paint new worlds. I wanted to let the options be a mix of Isles residents and recognizable insane NPC's from the base game, that realistically might have ended up in Sheo's realm. >Falanu or Glarthir Hard to go wrong, interesting they are both Skingradians (Skingradites?) now that I think on it! What a fucked up town huh?
Very cool quest idea! Now there are two Elder Scrolls quests, wonderful!I think I have never seen a Daedra/Daedra Cult quest in any sites of questing, except a dead and dusted one about Jyggalag in that weird site. It's crazy to see a quest of Sheogorath for me. Anyway. I wonder if the rest of the daedra have set their eyes on Mundus as well. Mehrunes Dagon and his cult, and now Sheogorath and his cult, soon to rise....>>6411870>Duke of Mania>Thurindil, The Ocean-Addled - Once a pirate, he is a gifted fighter and thoroughly deranged.>Duchess of Dementia>Nanette Don, The Flesh-Warper - She studied carefully under Relmyna, and has begun to make her own breakthroughs in the elemental magic of flesh.>You immediately reconstituted some of the old cities of the Isles, which have fallen into disrepair and desolation since their destruction during previous Greymarches. >>6411943Yeah you're right, I saw painter and monkey brain went "Bro remember the painting quest!?". Still keeping my vote for her, even if I mistook her idenity, cause she's an interesting choice and I could see Sheo also making that mistake and just acting like she is Rythe And yeah skingrad is fucked. Should I call the votes now and roll on the ties? Or should I wait a while longer? Really didn't expect it to be this dead, but I don't wanna bore anyone thats already in for the ride by waiting too long to move things along

Select the Duchess of Mania: >Dagail >Zoe Malene Select the Duchess of Dementia: >Falanu Hlaalu >Nanette Don>Cont'd
>>6412202Sticking with>Zoe Malene&>Falanu HlaaluHere chief. We should teach the grummites the venerable art of theater, now that they're on our side
Now you need only select a new Champion and their token. This is not necessarily permanent, your favor can shift from one mortal to another. Nonetheless, the utility of a mighty servant to act on your behalf is impossible to overstate - it was how you saved the Shivering Isles after all, right? Who did you select to be your divine instrument? Five primary skill bases will be ranked S/A/B/C/D. Your Champion is able to communicate with you at any time and at any distance telepathically, is granted custody of one of your artifacts, and has their health and willpower supernaturally enhanced somewhat. >Agronak gro-Malog - you drove Agronak to madness unintentionally. As a mortal. You only meant to do him a kindness. But the dark truth of his heritage drove him to deep melancholy, and he chose death by your sword without resistance. Thus he was claimed by Sheogorath, a full resident of the Isles for eternity. You even encountered him before becoming the Mad God. Sometimes you even remember your brief friendship. Now he is your final sword, a champion among Champions, an avatar of the dread that drowns the mind when totally confronted by the depravity of the world, and yet sometimes still manages to revive the unique charisma of a star athlete. He is Agronak gro-Malog, the Bastard of Ashes. (S tier melee, A tier socialite, C tier intellectual, C tier stealth, D tier spellcaster)**>Staada - For many centuries now she has proven herself uniquely capable among your legions of Daedric servants, and so you often rely on her to attend to critical matters as it is. As such, elevating her to the position of Champion only makes sense. (A tier melee, A tier spellcaster, B tier intellectual, D tier socialite, D tier stealth) >Relmyna Verenim - Among the rare few to be personally invited to the Shivering Isles by their master, Relmyna is infamous for having created the Gatekeeper, a colossus of Daedric anguish and tormented corpses that protects the realm from intrusion. She is among the most gifted sorcerers of the age, and likely the very most sadistic. (S tier spellcaster, S tier intellectual, D tier melee, D tier socialite, D tier stealth) >Glarthir - His paranoid and obsessive nature brought him directly into your arms, and under the tutelage of the hallucinations you've placed in his mind, this jumpy wood elf has now attained the skills of the Marukhati Selective spymasters and shadowy manipulators that appear on the edges of his vision. (A tier stealth, A tier intellectual, B tier spellcaster, C tier socialite, C tier melee) **If you don't select Agronak, it will be assumed he died a warrior's death, sane, and fairly defeated. Now he is dead and resting, not under your influence. Other Champion candidates that are not selected will still be in the Isles and capable of being enlisted, but they will not serve as your primary operative in the wider world or on the vanguard of your armies. >Cont'd
And finally, what artifact did you grant your Champion as a token of your patronage? >Nerveshatter - a massive and yet surprisingly lightweight and well-balanced warhammer constructed of polished madness ore and red amber bound with the Daedric souls of a Mazken and an Aureal. Coursing with arcane electricity, this terrible mallet can reduce stone to rubble or cave-in a suit of plate mail. >Shadowrend - This weapon is wrought from the shadow of the mortal psyche made manifest, and is as fluid and unyielding as the void. It can shift between forms quickly, appearing as a spear, a longsword, or a battle-axe in the hands of the wielder as it suits their whims, and with sufficient force can cleave through hardened steel. >Wabbajack - Like any magical staff, this can be used to channel and coordinate one's own magicka for more potent, and efficient, spellcasting. The enchantment of the staff is as mercurial as your own mood, and when used to unleash your deranged power on a foe, Wabbajack is as likely to create an incendiary blast, or transform the target into a handful of moths, as it is to restore their health, or perhaps turn them into a vicious, hulking sabrecat. >Write-in (Has to be one from the games or of relatively similar power, and stylistically consistent)Artifacts not selected are not lost, and can be distributed later or kept for personal use.
>>6412206>Glarthir - His paranoid and obsessive nature brought him directly into your arms, and under the tutelage of the hallucinations you've placed in his mind, this jumpy wood elf has now attained the skills of the Marukhati Selective spymasters and shadowy manipulators that appear on the edges of his vision. (A tier stealth, A tier intellectual, B tier spellcaster, C tier socialite, C tier melee)My boy! Come to papa! >Shadowrend - This weapon is wrought from the shadow of the mortal psyche made manifest, and is as fluid and unyielding as the void. It can shift between forms quickly, appearing as a spear, a longsword, or a battle-axe in the hands of the wielder as it suits their whims, and with sufficient force can cleave through hardened steel.Cause it can turn into a battleaxe, and Glarthir uses one when he goes all sicko mode on supposedly innocent conspirators

Hard to imagine anyone playing this quest didn't play the game, but these might be useful in case that has somehow happened, or if it's been a while: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Agronak_gro-MalogAnd https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Shivering:StaadaAnd also https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Shivering:Relmyna_VerenimLast but not least, this little freak...https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:GlarthirThe lore pages are cool too. Didn't know Staada got featured in ESO, but that's cool. The stat buffs that Agronak gets from being half vampire kind of floored me, didn't realize he was so fucking goated... Glarthir benefits from having the funniest name of the bunch, however.

>>6412234I don't think I ever fought him for real because I love doing side quests and found the tragedy of it interesting.
It's a real shame Oblivion didn't have companions like Fallout. I wouldn't say 'like Skyrim', because they just kind of ape the experience, they get the shape of it right but the writers for Skyrim' were so mids, there's just no heart for almost all of them. There were two companion mods I remember liking, Ruined-Tail and Cleon The Butcher of Armindale. Anyways, still plenty of interesting NPCs even if some of them deserved more material and interactions.

(S tier melee, A tier socialite, C tier intellectual, C tier stealth, D tier spellcaster)**>Shadowrend - This weapon is wrought from the shadow of the mortal psyche made manifest, and is as fluid and unyielding as the void. It can shift between forms quickly, appearing as a spear, a longsword, or a battle-axe in the hands of the wielder as it suits their whims, and with sufficient force can cleave through hardened steel.

Once it's sorted I think the first scene will be Sheo meeting with his inner circle to decide how best to prepare/launch his counter-invasion, and do a quick overall appraisal of what he is up against - Mehrunes and his forces, of course, but also the Empire and other regional powers on Nirn, as well as other Daedric Princes, their champions, and possibly a few other special cases besides. Thalmor are yet to become a world power, but there are definitely some knife-ears out there dreaming of toppled Towers.
