For thirty six years I have looked to the Mad Star for guidance, hearing in one ear his most solemn whispers, and in the other, a gibbering laughter beyond all reason. I have watched the glint of hallucination root itself in the minds of the doubtful, and I have felt the tremors of abandon creep across my bones.

I have seen the gates of Oblivion beyond which no waking eye may see. Behold... in darkness a doom sweeps the land...

This is the 12th of Sun's Dusk, the year of Akatosh 433. These are the closing days of the Third Era... And the sunset of sanity in Mundus.

- Cadmius Cavestes, Mumbling Priest of Colovia

=======================================

Welcome to The Madhouse Crusade! In this quest, you play as Sheogorath, Daedric Prince of Madness and Creativity, Lord of The Never-There, The Trickster, Fourth Corner of The House of Troubles, and Sovereign of The Shivering Isles.

But, you weren't always who you are now. You once told yourself that 'Daedra are the embodiment of change', and permanency too, and plenty of other nonsense. You used to be you, too, but also, you were someone else, a Champion for the Shivering Isles... And before that, a Hero... A Hero of Kvatch! That's right, he was... She? You were a hero from Nirn, you had been released from prison by a fateful encounter with the... Emperor! That's right, what a nice guy, whatever happened to him?

It's so difficult to recall exactly...

Oh, yes, of course: He had tasked the hero with locating his last heir, and delivering the Amulet of Kings... But the amulet was stolen by the Cult of The Mythic Dawn, while he rescued the heir and broke the siege of Kvatch by Mehrunes Dagon's forces. After that.... After that he travelled across Cyrodill, fighting back against the the armies of destruction, and other villains seeking to capitalize on the chaos.

In their travels, this champion of the empire discovered a door in the Niben Bay... One which you were able to open to your realm upon the dying of the dragon fires. Seeking artifacts and knowledge with which to close shut the jaws of Oblivion, the great hero proceeded within, and parlayed with the Prince of Madness.

That was you. Both of them, that is. You became the champion of the Shivering Isles in order to thwart the Greymarch and protect the realm, which eventually led to your Mantling the Mad God.

That brings us to now.

You are Sheogorath, Daedric Prince of Madness and Creativity, Lord of The Never-There, The Trickster, Fourth Corner of The House of Troubles, and Sovereign of The Shivering Isles.

Remember?

Nirn is still threatened by invasion from Mehrunes Dagon and his cult. You have restored peace to your own realm... But you grow displeased as you observe the incursions of your fellow Prince in the plane of Mundus, and consider that his campaign of conquest may extend to the borders of the Isles eventually. Unbound by the old law, same as he, you've decided the best course of action here...

Is to beat him at his own game, and conquer Tamriel yourself.

It'll be a delightfully good time. One of the best ideas you've had in minutes, maybe weeks. But before the crusade begins in earnest, we need to make some decisions. You barely remember your most recent mortal life. You've lived a lot of lives, and had a lot of laughs. Occasionally you'll have fleeting reveries of a night camping in the Great Forest, or a sudden rememberance of warm wine in an Anvil tavern.

You had accomplished much while adventuring across Cyrodill, prior to entering the door into madness. Your influence is still felt in the mortal world, and parts of your past still affect your present. What was the nature of your deeds on Nirn?

Note: whatever roles you do not select will be fulfilled by others, some of whom you may encounter in your campaign. This choice will influence perceptions you have of your past, it will shape some of your options when selecting your new Champion, and will provide one benefit in the form of an artifact, companion, holding, or something else of the kind.

>You were the Archmage of the Mage's Guild, having defeated Mannimarco in single combat and inherited your station from Hannibal Traven.
>You disbanded the Blackwood Company and became Master of the Fighter's Guild.
>You had joined the Dark Brotherhood, and uncovered the betrayer's plot, becoming the Listener of the Black Hand.
>You had assumed the title of Gray Fox, leader of the Thieve's Guild, after breaking the curse on Nocturnal's Cowl.
>You enlisted as a gladiator to develop your fighting skills, and went on to become the Grand Champion, wealthy beyond measure and loved by thousands.
>After escaping prison, you sought out the holy relics after encountering a strange priest in Anvil, eventually becoming the Divine Crusader and defeating Umaril The Unfeathered once and for all.
>Before entering the Isles, you had not ascended the ranks of any major organization, but had instead dedicated yourself to helping the citizenry as a wandering adventurer, making many friends and gathering powerful treasures.

>We gave the Grey Prince a warrior's death, he died without ever knowing the truth of his parentage
>>
>>6411616
Also, you might wanna drop a link to the quest in the /qtg/ QM
>>
>>6411616
My friend, you've gotten just slightly ahead of yourself, but I will note the second part of your answer...
Spoilers!!!
*IF* Arena Champion wins, there will be a separate vote on whether the Grey Prince died without knowing the truth or not. If not, that's it for him, but if our MC revealed his parentage and he chose to be killed without a fight, that suicidal urge will count as enough of a madness for him to have passed onto the isles, making him a possible candidate for YOUR new Champion, seeing as the last one became... You! Other options come with similar implications, savvy game players may already be considering which NPCs from the major guilds and faction plots might be unlocked as possible champions by your having known them as a mortal.
>>
>>6411622
My bad, didn't know. But I like the stuff in that spoiler. I like it alot.
>>
>>6411623
All good, chum of mine! This will be a mix of first person adventure RP, cycling through the perspective of Sheo and a few of his minions, and also asset management + civ stuff. Kind of like that New Vegas quest where the courier took over the strip and was rebuilding things. But maybe with less of the insane fucking bloat around actions (no offense to the QM of that quest if you're still out there). This is actually based on a mod I played back in the day that let you send Seducers and Saints into different cities to fight the guards, and when you conquered everything there was a final showdown with Dagon's army, I remember Martin being there on your side in a set of madness armor once you seized the Imperial City - it was tight as fuck!!!
As for the /qtg/.... Not really my scene! But would be appreciative if you posted a link on my behalf.

On the one hand, I kinda want options from the thieves or mages guild. On the other, IT'S THE GRAND CHAMPION! IT'S REALLY YOU, STANDING HERE. NEXT TO ME.
>>
>>6411615
>After escaping prison, you sought out the holy relics after encountering a strange priest in Anvil, eventually becoming the Divine Crusader and defeating Umaril The Unfeathered once and for all.
O Aka, for our shared Madness I do this! I watch you watching me watching back!

Good morning anons! Looks like we barely have a consensus. I will hold back and hope for a few more votes before moving on to the next set of votes.

To explain more of how this game will go...

1) Updates will generally represent the passage of a month's time.
2) Each month you will be allotted a few Major Actions and a slate of Lesser Actions which need to be voted on.
Major:
- 2 personal actions as Sheogorath (meeting with someone, performing a task, etc, some suggestions will usually be provided)
- 1 personal action as Your Champion (once you've selected one, and this will function similarly to your actions as Sheo).
One of these three will be RP'd out over the course of a few updates/rolls/votes, and players will vote on which one, while the others will be decided with a set of simple rolls.
Lesser:
- 2 military actions (deploy troops, establish stronghold, invade location, train infantry, recruit/bolster warriors)
- 1 action for your court wizard (research phenomenon, develop magic, cast large spell/ritual)
- 1 industrial action (begin construction project, repair or expand infrastructure, etc)
- 1 diplomatic action (carried out by: Haskill, High Priest, Duke/Duchess, Champion, or self, also chosen by vote)
Like above, one of these actions will actually be roleplayed or represented with an update/vote or two, maybe more in some cases, while the others are resolved with rolls.

And also, to give a better idea of what transpired on Nirn before your ascension...

Sheogorath doesn't remember clearly, it's all a haze of blood, screams, laughs, and the gossamer impressions of so many conversations. But with enough focus, he'll recall that prior to arriving in the Isles as a mortal, he had rescued Martin Septim from Kvatch, had the Amulet of Kings stolen, delivered the heir to Cloud Ruler Temple, and had actually infiltrated a secret shrine of the Mythic Dawn and somehow absconded with the Mysterium Xarxes. After handing it off to Martin for study, he had scoured the land for anything to assist in the war against Dagon, eventually ending up... Here!
Martin must still be at the Blades' keep studying the book, and more feverishly than ever now that his savior has seemingly disappeared.
>>
Very bored! very antsy pantsy to get this quest moving, gonna just drop the other chargen/starting votes now. Once I have responses, there should only be one or maybe two votes before I can kick things off.
============================

There's also the matter of some routine house-keeping you've been doing since becoming the Mad God.

Who did you appoint as Duke/Duchess of Mania?

>Big Head, The Fork-Bearer - The artifact he bears possessed unknown power, and his loyalty is without question.
>Dagail, The Farseer - powerful mage, a master of Mysticism, plagued to the point of madness by her premonitions.
>Thurindil, The Ocean-Addled - Once a pirate, he is a gifted fighter and thoroughly deranged.
>Zoe Malene, The Dream-Painter - One of your most inspired artistic minds, modest for her great skill.
>Mirili Ulven, The Taxonomist - A compulsive student of the natural world, her need to catalogue information has made her quite wise.

Who did you appoint as Duke/Duchess of Dementia?

>Glarthir, The Headsman - A more paranoid mind there has rarely been, and since you claimed his soul and brought him into his realm, he has mastered the use of his battle-axe.
>Nanette Don, The Flesh-Warper - She studied carefully under Relmyna, and has begun to make her own breakthroughs in the elemental magic of flesh.
>Ri'Bassa, The World's End Warlock - Though you only faintly recall the escapade, you drove him to madness on your own behalf, before ever becoming the Mad God, and he has proved a capable and uniquely insane spellcaster.
>Falanu Hlaalu, The Grave-Wife - With your patronage, she has become a mighty necromancer, with a stalwart retinue of undead paramours at her command.
>Grommok gro-Barak, The Resurrected - He never lost a battle... until you confronted him with an illusion of having died, since the ordeal he has become all the more deadly, fighting as though he were already dead, and still has yet to lose.
>>
It's been roughly two weeks since you ended the Greymarch and ascended to godhood. You've kept busy, and had some early successes in reviving your crumbling domain. What exactly was this triumph like?

>You wiped out the Heretic cults and reformed the so-called Zealots. No longer do these hedge mages and brigands trouble the open roads. Being that they are mortal men, mer, and beastfolk, and already militarized, they could serve as infantry, battlemages, and possibly even infiltrators within the societies of Nirn.
>You tamed the Grummites, re-establishing full mastery of those most peculiar creatures... Their fecundity is prodigal, and their growth to full maturity is rapid. The Grummites will make for fantastic shock troops and replenish lost numbers easily, and may also serve as a highly reliable source of menial labor.
>You immediately reconstituted some of the old cities of the Isles, which have fallen into disrepair and desolation since their destruction during previous Greymarches. Vitharn in Dementia, Cann in Bliss, and Xeddefen in the Fringe have all been restored to their original glory, and have begun to be resettled. A solid jump-start on rebuilding the realm.

===================
I think once these are decided and we have a winner for which faction quest our Sheo beat, I will just have a vote to select your new Champion, can't think of what else. Then it'll be go time!

>Zoe Malene, The Dream-Painter - One of your most inspired artistic minds, modest for her great skill.

One of my favorite quests in oblivion

>Falanu Hlaalu, The Grave-Wife - With your patronage, she has become a mighty necromancer, with a stalwart retinue of undead paramours at her command.

or

>Glarthir, The Headsman - A more paranoid mind there has rarely been, and since you claimed his soul and brought him into his realm, he has mastered the use of his battle-axe.

I'll decide with a coin flip

1: Falanu Hlaalu
2: Glarthir

Whichever I roll is my pick for dementia

>You immediately reconstituted some of the old cities of the Isles, which have fallen into disrepair and desolation since their destruction during previous Greymarches. Vitharn in Dementia, Cann in Bliss, and Xeddefen in the Fringe have all been restored to their original glory, and have begun to be resettled. A solid jump-start on rebuilding the realm.

How can madness be appreciated if we do not have room for its groves to bloom? For all its flavors to coalesce individually and become aged as it adapts to its environment. Like a well matured cheese

>One of my favorite quests in oblivion
Be sure you're thinking of the right artist - Rythe Lythandas has the more memorable and paint-centered quest, with his Dibella-hair brush. Zoe lives in the isles and asks you to recover her lover's medallion, from back when he was a member of the Knights of The Thorn. I have some ideas for how she might be an interesting Duchess, but she won't be able to literally paint new worlds. I wanted to let the options be a mix of Isles residents and recognizable insane NPC's from the base game, that realistically might have ended up in Sheo's realm.
>Falanu or Glarthir
Hard to go wrong, interesting they are both Skingradians (Skingradites?) now that I think on it! What a fucked up town huh?
>>
Very cool quest idea! Now there are two Elder Scrolls quests, wonderful!
I think I have never seen a Daedra/Daedra Cult quest in any sites of questing, except a dead and dusted one about Jyggalag in that weird site. It's crazy to see a quest of Sheogorath for me.

Anyway. I wonder if the rest of the daedra have set their eyes on Mundus as well. Mehrunes Dagon and his cult, and now Sheogorath and his cult, soon to rise....

Yeah you're right, I saw painter and monkey brain went "Bro remember the painting quest!?". Still keeping my vote for her, even if I mistook her idenity, cause she's an interesting choice and I could see Sheo also making that mistake and just acting like she is Rythe

And yeah skingrad is fucked. Skidgrand also has a vampire as its count, a house inexplicably filled with the undead, and the best dark brotherhood quest

Now you need only select a new Champion and their token. This is not necessarily permanent, your favor can shift from one mortal to another. Nonetheless, the utility of a mighty servant to act on your behalf is impossible to overstate - it was how you saved the Shivering Isles after all, right? Who did you select to be your divine instrument? Five primary skill bases will be ranked S/A/B/C/D. Your Champion is able to communicate with you at any time and at any distance telepathically, is granted custody of one of your artifacts, and has their health and willpower supernaturally enhanced somewhat.

>Agronak gro-Malog - you drove Agronak to madness unintentionally. As a mortal. You only meant to do him a kindness. But the dark truth of his heritage drove him to deep melancholy, and he chose death by your sword without resistance. Thus he was claimed by Sheogorath, a full resident of the Isles for eternity. You even encountered him before becoming the Mad God. Sometimes you even remember your brief friendship. Now he is your final sword, a champion among Champions, an avatar of the dread that drowns the mind when totally confronted by the depravity of the world, and yet sometimes still manages to revive the unique charisma of a star athlete. He is Agronak gro-Malog, the Bastard of Ashes. (S tier melee, A tier socialite, C tier intellectual, C tier stealth, D tier spellcaster)**
>Staada - For many centuries now she has proven herself uniquely capable among your legions of Daedric servants, and so you often rely on her to attend to critical matters as it is. As such, elevating her to the position of Champion only makes sense. (A tier melee, A tier spellcaster, B tier intellectual, D tier socialite, D tier stealth)
>Relmyna Verenim - Among the rare few to be personally invited to the Shivering Isles by their master, Relmyna is infamous for having created the Gatekeeper, a colossus of Daedric anguish and tormented corpses that protects the realm from intrusion. She is among the most gifted sorcerers of the age, and likely the very most sadistic. (S tier spellcaster, S tier intellectual, D tier melee, D tier socialite, D tier stealth)
>Glarthir - His paranoid and obsessive nature brought him directly into your arms, and under the tutelage of the hallucinations you've placed in his mind, this jumpy wood elf has now attained the skills of the Marukhati Selective spymasters and shadowy manipulators that appear on the edges of his vision. (A tier stealth, A tier intellectual, B tier spellcaster, C tier socialite, C tier melee)

**If you don't select Agronak, it will be assumed he died a warrior's death, sane, and fairly defeated. Now he is dead and resting, not under your influence.
Other Champion candidates that are not selected will still be in the Isles and capable of being enlisted, but they will not serve as your primary operative in the wider world or on the vanguard of your armies.

>Cont'd
>>
And finally, what artifact did you grant your Champion as a token of your patronage?

>Nerveshatter - a massive and yet surprisingly lightweight and well-balanced warhammer constructed of polished madness ore and red amber bound with the Daedric souls of a Mazken and an Aureal. Coursing with arcane electricity, this terrible mallet can reduce stone to rubble or cave-in a suit of plate mail.
>Shadowrend - This weapon is wrought from the shadow of the mortal psyche made manifest, and is as fluid and unyielding as the void. It can shift between forms quickly, appearing as a spear, a longsword, or a battle-axe in the hands of the wielder as it suits their whims, and with sufficient force can cleave through hardened steel.
>Wabbajack - Like any magical staff, this can be used to channel and coordinate one's own magicka for more potent, and efficient, spellcasting. The enchantment of the staff is as mercurial as your own mood, and when used to unleash your deranged power on a foe, Wabbajack is as likely to create an incendiary blast, or transform the target into a handful of moths, as it is to restore their health, or perhaps turn them into a vicious, hulking sabrecat.
>Write-in (Has to be one from the games or of relatively similar power, and stylistically consistent)

Artifacts not selected are not lost, and can be distributed later or kept for personal use.
>>
>>6412206
>Glarthir - His paranoid and obsessive nature brought him directly into your arms, and under the tutelage of the hallucinations you've placed in his mind, this jumpy wood elf has now attained the skills of the Marukhati Selective spymasters and shadowy manipulators that appear on the edges of his vision. (A tier stealth, A tier intellectual, B tier spellcaster, C tier socialite, C tier melee)

>Shadowrend - This weapon is wrought from the shadow of the mortal psyche made manifest, and is as fluid and unyielding as the void. The lore pages are cool too. Didn't know Staada got featured in ESO, but that's cool. The stat buffs that Agronak gets from being half vampire kind of floored me, didn't realize he was so fucking goated... Glarthir benefits from having the funniest name of the bunch, however.

Coursing with arcane electricity, this terrible mallet can reduce stone to rubble or cave-in a suit of plate mail.

I still remember how much of a nightmare that half-vampire gladiator champion was to kill. Didn't want to 'cheese it' via the quest, holy fuck is he a nightmare to kill. That guy is an absolute fucking unit and a goddamn monster.

I'll admit he's why I went with the arena option. That fucker is insanely strong and OP as fuck.

I don't think I ever fought him for real because I love doing side quests and found the tragedy of it interesting.

It's a real shame Oblivion didn't have companions like Fallout. I wouldn't say 'like Skyrim', because they just kind of ape the experience, they get the shape of it right but the writers for Skyrim' were so mids, there's just no heart for almost all of them.
There were two companion mods I remember liking, Ruined-Tail and Cleon The Butcher of Armindale.
Anyways, still plenty of interesting NPCs even if some of them deserved more material and interactions.

>>6412207
>Wabbajack - Like any magical staff, this can be used to channel and coordinate one's own magicka for more potent, and efficient, spellcasting. The enchantment of the staff is as mercurial as your own mood, and when used to unleash your deranged power on a foe, Wabbajack is as likely to create an incendiary blast, or transform the target into a handful of moths, as it is to restore their health, or perhaps turn them into a vicious, hulking sabrecat.

Why not weigh in a bit more? Champ is probably one of the biggest starting choices seeing as it'll be their job to slay your enemies, help lead your armies, and represent you on Nirn and in other realms.

>Agronak gro-Malog - you drove Agronak to madness unintentionally. As a mortal. You only meant to do him a kindness. Still basically anyone's to win. Once it's sorted I think the first scene will be Sheo meeting with his inner circle to decide how best to prepare/launch his counter-invasion, and do a quick overall appraisal of what he is up against - Mehrunes and his forces, of course, but also the Empire and other regional powers on Nirn, as well as other Daedric Princes, their champions, and possibly a few other special cases besides. Thalmor are yet to become a world power, but there are definitely some knife-ears out there dreaming of toppled Towers.

And then a 2-2 tie between Glarthir and Agronak...

About half a day passed without a vote, so I'm not sure I want to wait for another one which might not come. And I don't really like breaking a vote with a die roll, leaving intentional democracy down to chance. I'd like to avoid that as much as possible, really. So with that said, I think that I will put my thumb on the scale and call it in favor of Agronak gro-Malog, because I think he will just end up being a much more interesting character to inhabit, psychologically, and his personal relationship with our Sheo is a lot more interesting than the dynamic that he and Glarthir had before his godhood. However, we'll say Glarthir has taken up a residence in Crucible, and as a consolation to the Glarthir fans I will fold him into the story in the near future, maybe he could be Sheo's new spymaster?

I am going to start writing the update now. Thanks everyone for your votes! Looking forward to questing across Tamriel!

So uh...... Chargen taking so long got me antsy and hype, and I ended up writing a pretty long first scene. Editing and reformatting now. I am a little hung up on my game rules, and worried about bloat or making it too clunky. I think I'm just gonna try it, and can reel things back and simplify if that seems like the move.
Thanks for being patient everyone!

[29th of Sun's Dusk, 3E 433, Palace of Sheogorath, New Sheoth City]

The Prince of Madness claps his hands in approval. "Fantastic effort, Haskill, I am positively glorified by your indulgence." He says cheerily. His smile is broad, showing his pronounced canines, and something flickers behind the pale yellow of his cat-like eyes. He is seated sideways in a chair that is shaped almost like a bowl, or cup, carved from an enormous boulder of solid turquoise. It's unusual dimensions are seemingly better suited to his odd, sidelong posture, than it would be one attempting to sit properly upright.

Before him is a tremendous, rectangular slab of lustrous pearl, the top of a table not unlike that which might be found in a Colovian banquet hall, or Nordic feast house. Its surface swells and ebbs, organically reforming to provide a perfect scale topological map of the Shivering Isles. Haskill, a tall, gaunt, balding figure in peculiar dark finery, directs the table with movements of his fingers, causing disruption. The model warps of its own volition, now becoming a scale representation of Tamriel. "It's marvelous, I adore how small it all is! I've long thought Mundus would be vastly improved if it were able to fit in the palm of a hand, but the surface of a table is an excellent beginning." The Madgod proclaims, stroking his beard with one hand. The other extends up, and a wooden cane with a bloodshot eyeball at the top materializes. The base of the cane balances in the upturned palm of his hand as he moves his arm slightly, keeping it upright and level. The eyeball swivels between the knot of roots that hold it in place, gazing down to the table, and then to the rest of Sheogorath's council.

They are gathered in the war room, in the bowels of the newly renovated palace, a large dome-shaped chamber with roots dangling overhead, wound about with yellow, blue, and orange fungus that glows brightly and hangs down in the shape of so many chandeliers.

On Sheogorath's immediate right is a pale orc, tall and sturdy, with rippling muscles. The characteristic green skin of his kind is substituted for an unusual blue-grey, and his eyes have a burgundy red hue, unlike the usual rich brown of their kin, and seem glazed over with deep thought and deeper sorrow. He is adorned in a unique suit of madness armor, scaled like the works of Orsinium, which covers his forearms, stomach, lower chest, and legs, but leaves the shoulder mostly bare. A long warrior's braid extends from the back of his scalp. Just to the right of him is a fair Breton maiden, with silky golden hair that falls past her shoulders. The formal gown she wears seems to be fashioned from the strokes of a paint brush, it is a stunningly beautiful mosaic of pastel ribbons that move slightly, as if alive, one wonders if the regalia were lifted directly from the canvas by some sort of magic. To her right is a more robust female figure, with golden yellow skin, and piercing gold irises in her eyes set against a purple sclera. She is robust and strong of figure, nearly as much as the Orc, though not quite, and suited head to toe in ostentatious gilded armor; the perfect specimen of a Golden Saint.

Across from her, on the other side of the table, sits one of the Mazken. She has the dusky indigo complexion of her race, and scanty, dark places of armor that show her lithe, nimble frame, leaving little to the imagination. To her left is another Breton woman, this one a bit older than her Manic counterpart, with short cropped hair and a sleek dress of oily black leather, flourishes of black lace, and encrusted with rubies. She bears a scar that travels from her forehead and around the outside of her face, by her left ear, across her cheek, and down to the middle of her jaw in a wicked crescent. To her left, and just next to where Sheogorath is lounging, stands Haskill, who has by now clasped his hands behind his back as the table has settled fully into a model of the Madgod's ambition...

"Most of you have spent some measure of time amongst the mortals, and so may recognize the representation before you." Says the Daedra Lord. He sits up now, and the Cane leaps into the air, then floats down like a feather to his other side, planting itself upright on the floor so he can rest his other palm atop it. Those feline eyes dart between the members of his entourage. "Tamriel. Nirn. The mundane plane. One of my less than esteemed counterparts is making a go of taking the damn place for himself, Mehrunes Dagon. Never cared much for the fellow. Always destruction, tantrums, and bloody upheavals. Somehow has the unique character flaw of making pure chaos feel tedious, though, even derivative. I, on the other hand..." Sheogorath goes on, his playful tone shifting downwards into something cold and sinister, "happen to be brimming with colorful new ideas about how we might redecorate the place."

>2/10
>>
The Prince shifts in his seat slightly, surveying the map. "Dagon's cult did make one fresh move. They seized the Amulet of Kings and hushed the Dragonfires. This has allowed the Dremora to fabricate Sigil Stones and Dread Towers to anchor them to Mundus, allowing for a less than original attempt at a good old fashioned Planemeld. The mortals, poor things, are calling it the Oblivion Crisis." He pauses, and grins wide.

"Now, I'm rather partial to an occasional crisis, and I'm well aware we just had one of our own, but it settled out so nicely that I can't help but feel hungry for another. As such, I've gathered you all here to formally begin my glorious counter-revolution!" Sheogorath raises his cane and his other hand in excitement at the prospect, and then clears his throat, . "Aghem, hm, so! First of all, I want the horses to be smaller. Don't know what the mortals have been feeding em' this whole time, but I find it hard to believe they were ever supposed to be so big. Secondly, I'd quite like it if everyone crawled around on Morndas, hands and feet, no knees on the ground, every Morndas, every week. Except every other week, where I suppose it would be nice if they at least made an effort to fly... Couldn't hurt to start with some light flapping, perhaps, and work our way up to leaping off of buildings. I think anyone with a name that begins with a C, or K, or rather just a 'kuh' sound regardless of language, should all be organized into a single workforce to count every single leaf in all the forests of the land. I'd like an accurate count, mayhaps allowing for a two percent margin of error. Does that seem fair?" His brow furrows and he looks up to Haskill, whose gaze is still settled on the surface of the table, standing rigidly and proper with his hands behind his back.

Haskill's monotone voice doesn't betray any sort of exasperation, remaining calm and level as he replies. "Of course, My Lord, a most judicious expectation. Nonetheless, I fear you may be getting ahead of yourself. I should think it most prudent that we make arrangements for the swift conquest of Tamriel before we deliberate upon its administration." He says, and then raises a hand, waving it sideways, and lowers it back behind him. The table shifts slightly, and roughly two dozen spiked towers emerge across Cyrodill, Hammerfell, Morrowind, Skyrim, and Valenwood, with over half of them in Cyrodill alone. "While those blessed by your hand on Tamriel can be less than reliable in their recollections, we can at least trust in the aggregate of their prayers to pinpoint these as the locations where agents of the Mythic Dawn have summoned Oblivion Gates anchored to Dread Towers. From these breaches, the forces of destruction spill forth into the land."

>3/10
>>
Haskill's features are barren of emotion, bordering on boredom, despite the intensity of the situation at hand. "We possess but the single door, here, in the Niben Bay." He goes on, pointing to where a three-faced gate emerges from the flat surface of the 'water'. "It is not suitable for an invasion, however, as the rock it sits upon could not support docks, and it only facilitates the travel of one individual at a time. We have no Sigil Stones, nor the means to harness them for the anchoring of our own portals. Should your excellence wish to deploy actionable forces, we will need first to construct at least one such facility, and produce at least one such stone. I will, of course, leave the particulars to your discretion, my Lord. I might suggest you produce a Sigil Stone yourself, or employ a suitably talented Daedric enchanter."

Sheogorath laces his fingers on top of his cane, leaning forward over the table intently. "Thank you, Haskill." He glances to the others. "What input have the three of you, for my grand design. Agronak, you're something of an expert in crushing competition. Thoughts?"

The Orc nods, once. He is frowning as he stares deeply at the table before him. "Yes, Lord Sheogorath. It seems to me that we have the advantage of surprise. If you will need to spend time preparing for the full invasion, here, I think you should also spend time preparing on Mundus, bolstering your own cult. If Mehrunes Dagon is working quickly to seize the heartlands, I would think we should ready ourselves to bring the fight to him as quickly as possible." He says, crossing his arms over his chest. There is the faintest edge of sadness in his voice, but it is eclipsed by a much larger numbness.

>4/10
>>
Zoe Malene smiles politely, and leans forward then, waving a hand for Sheogorath's attention. "My Lord, I think perhaps I might have an idea?" She says, not sounding totally sure as she proposes it. The Prince holds a hand out to her, palm up, and nods slightly, signalling for her to go on. Her smile widens at the encouragement. "Well, you may recall that before your previous Champion perished during the battle with Jyggalag and disappeared so suddenly, he spent some time travelling your realm, assisting your devoted? It so happens he returned a medallion to my husband, Pyke, a gift from Farwil Indarys, son of the Count of Cheydinhall, from when they fought alongside one another as Knights of The Thorn. With the medallion in hand, and his old armor, Pyke would retain direct access to the Count and the court of Cheydinhall. Perhaps... He might be of use here, as a means of establishing a foothold close to the core of the Empire. The medallion has a sympathy to Farwil, having been a gift from him bearing his inscription, and so you could place a blessing upon it, such that when returned it might impart the gift of madness to him."

Sheogorath flashes a smile of his own at this. "Inspired as always, my dear, I rather like the sound of that. We could use more knights around here. And their knights could use some more unconventional thinking." He turns then to the Duchess of Dementia, casting a sidelong look. "Nanette, you're a natural schemer, what say you?"

The other Breton exhales through her nose, eyeing the mountains, valleys, and rivers of Nirn. "I would think it wisest to be patient. As Agronak suggested, a strong mortal cult will prove invaluable. We need spying eyes. We need strong fighters. We need skilled sorcerers. Infiltrating the court of Cheydinhall may prove fruitful, but I recall having heard a rumor that your previous Champion drove an entire village of Khajiit to madness, to the South near Leyawiin, yes?"

"Quite right! Almost forgot! Border Watch, haha! What a joy that was... Some of the most delicious panic I've tasted in ages." Sheogorath notes with a smirk.

5/10
>>
Nanette nods, and gestures vaguely to the area. "It would seem Dagon is yet to make a major incursion into Elsweyr, where you've long enjoyed a healthy following among populous as the Skooma Cat. Make the leader of those villagers into a priest, allow me to send one of my flesh atronaches to show them the secrets of conjuring his kind, and shepherd them to Corinthe. If they traffic in skooma and moon sugar, they can awaken more of their kin to your brilliance. Instead of hiding among the nobles of County Cheydinhall, your cult will flourish openly among the caravans and skooma houses of the Khajiit."

Agronak nods. "Either way to go seems smart to me. But I've never been in a war, of course. Just the arenas and fighting pits." He begins, and waves a hand at the map, shrugging. "Whether it'd be better to try and sneak in under Dagon's nose in Cheydinhall, or begin building out in the fringes of the Elsweyr desert, I couldn't say. You could send me to assist in either case, though, to protect the flock, maybe clear out a cave or ruin for them to operate out of. Unless, of course, you'd see me perform a different service?"

"Performing, yes, one of your other specialties! You've got sad eyes, these days, and buckets of pathos. One of my old proteges, a particularly pitiful little Bosmer from Lainlyn as I remember, wrote a series of fabulous tragedies about an Orcish pilgrim." Sheogorath responds all too exuberantly, and angles his thumbs and forefingers, touching them at the tips to create a little window frame through which to look at the Champion with one yellow eye. "We'd have to file your tusks down and amputate your left leg, first, but otherwise I think you'd be a perfect fit! The second act revolves around an especially gruesome act of cannibalism during a siege of Orsinium, and usually the prop tends to be blood sausage or boiled pork... But you're an over-achiever. Do you think it would be terribly inauthentic if we just painted an Altmer green, and used that? They taste far, far better than Orsimer, you see, far easier to finish."

If Agronak is disturbed by the proposition to be mutilated, or made to eat a body on stage, it doesn't register on his features. He is about to open his mouth to answer when Haskill deftly intervenes. "My Lord, a more pertinent possibility comes to mind." The Chamberlain chimes in. "One may recall the Hero of Kvatch broke the eponymous siege by entering the Deadlands, ascending the Dread Tower, and forcibly seizing the Sigil Stone therein. It occurs that Agronak would be capable of duplicating such a feat. We could then simply use that Sigil Stone ourselves, rather than produce one by our own means, to begin staging incursions of our own."

>6/10
>>
Sheogorath lights up again. "Beautiful proposal, Haskill, absolutely beautiful!" He says.

"Thank you, my Lord." Responds the thin man. He gestures to the empty seats at the table. "Might I make a final suggestion? While the Duchesses and their generals are clearly possessing great intellect and skill, and your Champion has the fighting prowess of a dozen warriors, you would be well served to appoint others to your inner council for the prosecution of our campaign." Haskill nods to the Duchess in black. "As Nanette said, we will require a more robust intelligence network. A Spymaster will be necessary. Likewise, a Court Wizard to oversee mystical research, and the execution of greater rituals. Lastly, one would benefit greatly from a High Priest on Mundus, in order to better organize and administrate your cult. It will take time to ascertain the most desirable candidates, of course, unless you should take it upon yourself personally."

Sheogorath steeples his fingers before him, letting his eyes wander once more over the terrain. His voice grows low and eerie again, tinged with chilling malice. "Right you are, Haskill, right you are. So much to be done, so many decisions to make, so many cities to burn, so many enemies to behead... It's enough to drive a man to madness..."

======================================

From here on out, phases of the campaign will follow month-long spans of time, with certain exceptions as the plot dictates, generally capped off by a War Room Council like the one that just took place.

**There will be TWO (2) rounds of votes each month/phase, and one round of rolls.**

The first round will determine what course of action Sheogorath will be taking. The second round will determine which of those actions will be resolved with simple rolls, and which are resolved with short roleplay scenarios from the POV of Sheogorath, his Champion, or another one of his agents.

Actions resolved through roleplay are not necessarily more or less likely to succeed, though there may be more than one roll involved in such a scene, and more than one decision which refines the particulars of the outcome. You should vote for which actions get RP'd based on what seems fun and interesting, not because you think it will innately benefit your goals!

Rolls will use 1d100 with applicable bonuses and maluses, with Best of Two or Best of Three applied in specific cases as an additional kind of bonus.

>7/10
>>
Votes themselves will come with some suggestions and ideas produced by the immediately prior War Room Council, but can and should also come from player discussion. Write-ins are extremely allowed and encouraged. Some especially ambitious actions may require the multiple rounds to complete. A fort can be built within a month, but establishing an entire city will take several, for example. Feel free at any time to ask clarifying questions about the status of any part of the campaign, or your current assets.

As of now, Sheogorath has access to the following actions:

2 Personal Actions he performs himself
1 Champion action executed by his current Champion (Agronak gro-Malog)

You will vote for one of these three to be roleplayed out.

And

1 Military Action (Deploying troops to a location, recruiting forces for a part of your military, establishing a stronghold or base of operations, training a new class of troops, moving troops from one location to another, etc)
1 Cult Action (regards your worshippers on Nirn, can be similar to Military as they will be a part of it, but broader as not all of them are mere combatants)
1 Industrial Action (Expanding infrastructure, securing a resource, developing or repairing a settlement, etc)
1 diplomatic action (Meeting between Sheogorath or a representative and another figure or faction in order to negotiate an agreement of some kind)

You will vote for One of these four to be roleplayed out, you will vote for which character is utilized for the diplomatic action.

As you fill the last three seats of your Inner Council, you will unlock two more actions - Intelligence and Wizard - while broadening options for Cult. Finding candidates to fill those seats can be done with Sheogorath's personal actions, a Champion action, diplomatic action, or by sacrificing an Industrial or Military action, using those resources to locate talent.

>8/10
>>
With all of that established... Let's begin The Madhouse Crusade!

First Round of votes - focus on WHAT you do, we will decide who/how and which are RP'd second. Feel free to skip any votes you don't feel strongly about. I will break ties with personal preference.

The Diplomatic Action is fully write-in, at this point, feel free to suggest reaching out to the Mythic Dawn directly, or the Blades, or the Reachmen, or the Morag Tong, or or or, you get the idea!

Something must be in the water or blood of that town, because it has produced some of the finest lunatics of the age. Maybe they should replace their wineries with asylums to better cultivate the open minds that so desperately needed cracking open!

As for our homegrown psychos, we should really sit them down and tell them about the birds and the bees, or mice and cheese or knives and livers...

Lets make sure our not so green and not so mean champion still remembers what its like to spill some blood and make some bread

>Establish a fort [Choose Location, Shivering Isles only for now]

Old Dagon got a lizard infestation once, horribly itchy. We should put a fort on our side of the single gate we have, to make sure to keep the pests and tax men out. Wouldn't want them competing for space with the lice, after all

Hey gang, looks like no more votes so I will lean on the ties, nothing on the table right now has an especially tight deadline or anything. Time to make some choices before we roll and update!

Choose one of the following three options to be roleplayed out:

>Sheogorath will travel to Skingrad and make to inspire some lucky mortal or mortals to madness
>Sheogorath will attend to the Heretics that terrorize his followers and plague his realm
>Agronak will pursue the Zealots, beating them into submission and and ending their unruly misbehavior

Choose one of the following four options to be roleplayed out:

>Construct a fort in the Fringe around the portal connecting your realm to the Niben Bay
>Infiltrate the Knights of The Thorn and County Cheydinhall's court with the help of Ser Pyke
>Begin rebuilding Vitharn into a proper city

"False servant! Fraud! How dare you come here, a pretender to the station of Champion?! How dare you approach us, his TRULY chosen!?"

The elderly Altmer woman in the leather robes hisses from beneath her robes. Reaching out with a hand, five bolts of electricity leap from her fingertips and illuminate the damp, stone corridor of Xavara's ruins. When they connect with the muscular frame of the unarmed Orc lumbering towards her, however, the lightning tendrils seem to crawl across his ribs and shoulders and fizzle into static sparks behind him.

Agronak gro-Malog has always boasted, even among his Orsimer kin, a peculiar resilience to magical powers. He is not running for her. He simply paces in the old sorceress' direction, each footfall causing the madness alloy of his boats and greaves to rattle loudly. "Your loyalty is appreciated. Your dispbedience will no longer be tolerated. Submit or perish. So says the Madgod." He says. There is no emotion to his instructions. His sunken red eyes glow in the shadows, a perpetual thousand yard stare, half-lidded with disinterest, maybe even boredom at the chore of slaughter. The Orc's fists are clenched at his sides as he draws nearer.

She rushes him, withdrawing a steel dagger from the sleeve of her cloak and holding it aloft to stab down at the Champion.

He sighs.

When she thrusts down, Agronak grabs her wrist with his left hand and squeezes tight, crunching bones between his fingers. The dagger drops from paralyzed fingers. The elf screams. He brings his right hand forward, flexing and closing it with the motion, and part of his shadow slithers up his leg, down his bicep, and into his palm in half of an instant, growing in his hand to become a long spear with a wavering, razor sharp tip... Impaling the Zealot through her stomach.

Agronak let's go of her wrist, while the spear melts back into his shadow and out of the sorceress' gut. She wheezes and gags while he continues to tread forward at that same walking pace, right up until a boot falls on her skull and crushes it flat. The Orc doesn't even bother to look down, and may not have even been intending to kill her so.

Xavara is one of the last holdouts of Zealot activity. Agronak has spent the last two weeks travelling Dementia and purging them from their various hideaways. It's been a brutal one man crusade, day and night.

Another Zealot charges out from around a corner, holding a silver short sword and swinging it sideways towards the Champion's torso. He avoids it with an agile step back, and suddenly a long, pitch black sword grows in his hand. He uses it to block a second, vertical strike, then he twists around and the sword morphs into a tremendous battle-axe. The Zealot had lifted his small blade to perhaps block in turn, but the axe is far too large, and crushes right through, beheading the man.

While Agronak rarely feels any real joy anymore - after all, he has seen the world for the sadistic joke that it is, and chosen not to laugh - he does at least take a certain kind of pride, and comfort, in cleansing Dementia of the Zealots. It is an adoptive home he feels a certain connection to, having awoken on the Hill of Suicides after a sword was plunged through his heart in the middle of the Imperial City Arena. At his request. He never even had the courage to visit his 'true' home back on Nirn, the dilapidated remains of Crowhaven, though it is his by all rights since the demise of his father.

Two more Zealots emerge into the larger, rectangular room he has just stepped into, and one of them conjures a tall, lanky flesh atronach, which looms behind them with its arms raised to attack.
