The world doesn’t care whether you’re ready. The Dungeons certainly don't.
When the Breach came five years ago, the skies cracked open above every major city on Earth. Streets split apart. From those cracks came dungeons: labyrinths filled with monsters, treasures, and horrors humanity was never meant to see. Creatures with too many mouths. Too many eyes. Things that screamed with human voices while tearing people apart.Humanity survived, but only barely. Then came the Awakened. One percent of humanity suddenly gained supernatural powers. Some could manipulate fire. Others moved faster than bullets or tore monsters apart with their bare hands. Overnight, the Awakened became celebrities, soldiers, kings. The strong rose to the top. The rest? They stayed ordinary.Five years later, America barely resembled the country it used to be. The old corporations adapted quickly. Banks became Guilds. Mercenaries became licensed hunters. Hospitals sold healing artifacts to the rich while everyone else drowned in debt. Money wasn’t enough anymore. Now people traded monster cores, dungeon rights, and blood-soaked miracles.
Chicago, 2031.Another twelve-hour shift wasted at Cigna Healthcare. Another day listening to your manager talk to you like you were garbage. Another day helping deny insurance claims to people who were dying because some executive wanted higher quarterly profits. The company made billions bleeding desperate people dry. And somehow, you are helping them do it. Your phone buzzes again.BOSS:"Where the hell are those claim denials?"Rain hammers against your windshield as your rusted car crawls through the streets. Sirens echo somewhere in the distance. Probably another gang war. Or another Dungeon outbreak. Maybe both. Outside the window, graffiti-covered apartment buildings blur past. This neighborhood was a warzone even before the dungeons appeared. Now? Now people disappear every week. Sometimes gangs killed them. Sometimes monsters did.You let out a tired sigh, gripping the steering wheel tighter."If I was Awakened," you mutter, "I’d quit tomorrow."The thought lingers longer than usual. You imagine it for a moment. If you were Awakened, everything would change. You could quit your job. Tell your boss exactly what you thought of him. Move out of this hellhole. Maybe finally stop feeling afraid every time the emergency alarms start blaring.Maybe...Maybe even get revenge on the people who made your life miserable.A bitter laugh escapes your throat. Yeah. Right. People don't just become Awakened after five years. That ship has sailed long ago. You are just another exhausted office drone driving home through a dying city. Nothing more. Then the world freezes. The rain stops midair. The radio cuts into static. And suddenly... A glowing blue screen appears before your eyes. Your foot slams on the brakes.SCREEECH.....The car skids violently across the rain-slick road. Your heart nearly stops. What the hell?!A translucent screen hovers in front of your face.[CONGRATULATIONS.][YOU HAVE AWAKENED.]Then another message appears.[SYSTEM INITIALIZING...]

You stare at the floating screen. Of all the classes you expected, that was not one of them. Warrior. Mage. Assassin. Summoner. Those were the classes people talked about online. Those were the classes that appeared in dungeon documentaries and recruitment ads. But Priest?Swallowing nervously, you speak the words that every Awakened knows."Status Window."A larger blue screen materializes before your eyes. Your stats are pathetic. Strength. Agility. Endurance. Intelligence. All of them are average. Every number reflects exactly what you already knew. You are an overworked office employee who spends twelve hours a day sitting behind a desk denying insurance claims, and you have never accomplished anything remarkable. But the Description Window is another matter entirely. Several abilities are listed beneath your class. One immediately catches your attention.[HEAL]Your eyes widen."No way..."Everyone knows why dungeons are so deadly. Monsters kill people. Not immediately, most of the time. A claw wound, a broken arm, internal bleeding, infections. The injuries accumulate until eventually something goes wrong. The only reliable treatment comes from healing potions. Unfortunately, potions are among the most valuable resources on Earth. Most low-rank hunters will never touch one. If your ability can truly heal wounds... Everything changes. Guilds would fight over you. Corporations would throw money at you. You might become one of the most valuable Awakened in the entire city. Then another thought follows. A darker one. If good people wanted you... Bad people would too. Your stomach tightens. There are plenty of organizations that would love to lock a healer in a basement and use them forever. You step out of the car. Without really thinking about it, you remove your jacket. Then your shirt. Then the rest. Standing naked beside an empty road should feel ridiculous. Instead, it feels strangely liberating, and your thoughts seem sharper.
Elizabeth. The name appears in your mind without warning. For ten years, she had been part of your life. You met in school and started dating shortly afterward. She was brilliant. The smartest person you had ever met. The sort of person who could solve problems that left everyone else confused. She wore glasses, kept her long black hair perfectly straight, and had a smile capable of making terrible days seem manageable. You had once promised yourself you would protect that smile forever. Then she disappeared. Three years ago. No warning. One day she was there. The next she was gone. Looking back, it shouldn't have surprised you. Elizabeth was always difficult to understand. She spent countless nights at your apartment, yet you never learned where she lived. You never met her family. Never even learned half the things a normal couple should know about each other. The one thing you knew for certain? She lied. Constantly. Not about important things. About everything. Ask what she ate for breakfast and she'd invent an answer. That's the type of little liar she was. And she was a little thief, too...
Hours later, you finally arrive home. Your apartment is small. One bedroom. Old furniture. Peeling paint. Nothing impressive. Still, it is the nicest place you can afford. And more importantly, it sits in one of the few neighborhoods not controlled by gangs. These days, that counts as luxury. You collapse onto your bed. What are you supposed to do tomorrow? Quit your job? Keep pretending nothing happened? Maybe you should register with the Hunter Association. Every newly Awakened citizen is legally required to report their status. Maybe you should seek religious guidance. A Priest class has to mean something, right? Or maybe you should keep everything secret until you understand your powers.Eventually exhaustion wins. Three unread text messages wait on your phone. All from your boss. You ignore every single one.Restoration Church is only a short walk from your apartment, located on West Berteau Avenue. A modest brick tower rises above the entrance, giving the church a medieval appearance. Inside, sunlight pours through tall windows. The atmosphere feels peaceful.Near one side of the sanctuary, several people are rehearsing with musical instruments. You decide to pray. The moment you kneel, a strange warmth flows through your body. The sensation is calming. For a split second, a vision flashes before your eyes. A giant dollar sign. Then a deep voice echoes inside your mind. "No man can serve two masters." Pain explodes through your skull. You gasp and open your eyes. The vision vanishes and the church returns.
After asking for directions, you are eventually introduced to Hue Doan. He was supervising the band rehearsal when you arrived. He's a fit Vietnamese man with an easy smile and an air of confidence. When he sees you approaching, he calls for a short break and invites you to sit down. The neighborhood is located just south of Albany Park, an area historically known for its large Korean community. Seeing Asian faces around here is common. That had actually been one of the reasons you moved nearby. Of course, the rent helped too."I recently Awakened," you explain. "I'm looking for guidance. I don't know whether I should keep living normally or do something else with these abilities. Maybe explore dungeons. Maybe dedicate myself to some greater purpose."Hue nods thoughtfully. "My advice is to pursue after what Jesus tells us to pursue. Not our own desires and passions. Because when we do those things, we will not produce fruitfulness. Eventually, this pursuit of our own selfish desires and passions, sooner or later, will lead us away from God."The vision of the dollar sign remains fresh in your mind. So you ask the obvious question. "What about work? I process insurance claims for Cigna Healthcare. It pays fairly well.""I have a day job too. I'm Vice President at Berkley Custom Insurance Managers."That catches you off guard. Of all the possible answers, that was not one you expected.Hue continues. "Money is good. It helps me provide for my family. It helps support the church."He stands. "Let's take one step at a time. We have a young woman in the church named Dahnbee. She's a deacon. >Heal [87]: SuccessfulYou would rather leave right now, but office workers are expected to stay until they're allowed to go. You have a lunch break, nothing more. So you wait. When noon finally arrives, you get in your car and drive south toward Hyde Park. The area around the University of Chicago is heavily secured these days. A B-rank dungeon opened several years ago in a nearby park, and hunter activity has become a normal part of life in the area. Armored men and women carrying weapons walk alongside students as if it were completely normal. You find Mrs. Escamilla's room and quietly step inside. The sight awaiting you is difficult to stomach. She lies suspended above the bed by medical supports, her limbs held in place by medical restraints. Most of her skin is gone. Her eyelids have burned away completely. Even her nose is missing. What remains is covered in bandages and scar tissue. She appears to be unconscious. For several seconds, you simply stare. Then you raise your hands. You have absolutely no idea how magic is supposed to work."Heal."White light pours from your palms. The room is instantly filled with a warm glow. The energy washes gently over her body. Then the miracle begins. Burned flesh regenerates. Pink skin spreads across ruined tissue. Facial features reform before your eyes. When the light finally fades, the woman lying before you appears completely healthy. You take a step backward. Your heart pounds. It worked. It actually worked. Unfortunately, you do not have time to stay, because your lunch break is almost over. You turn around and leave as quietly as you entered. The remainder of the workday passes slowly. You spend most of it staring at spreadsheets while thinking about miracles. By the end of the afternoon, however, you finally submit your report by email."I have studied the case extensively and identified several weaknesses that could have supported a denial. However, after contacting the hospital, I was informed that the claimant has apparently been miraculously healed through the anonymous donation of a healing potion. Therefore, the claim can be denied and the case closed."Because of your late arrival, you remain in the office long after everyone else has gone home. By the time you shut down your computer, it's nearly ten o'clock. The office is silent. Rows of empty cubicles stretch into darkness. Only one light remains: Mrs. Gloss's office. You frown. The memory of your meeting with her still irritates you... You caught yourself saying "I'm sorry," and afterward you couldn't stop wondering why. You have never liked apologizing, because you’ve always tried to avoid showing weakness. A brief thought flickers through your mind: in a place this empty, there’s nothing to stop you from raping her.
The parking lot is almost empty. As you pull onto the street, your eyes drift toward the rearview mirror. A black Tesla Model Z exits shortly afterward. The same one, again. It emerges from a nearby side street and falls in behind you.>Accept the dateOld Irving is one of the few places still serving food this late. The brewery is warm and crowded despite the hour. As you enter, a young woman near the back raises her hand. Dahnbee smiles shyly."I hope you haven't waited too long," you say."No, it's fine. Elder Hue arranged this, so I wanted to be here."You sit down. The conversation starts awkwardly. Fortunately, Dahnbee really is easy to talk to. She speaks passionately about her hobbies. She makes clay sculptures, produces short films, and works for Borderless Magazine covering immigration issues. Her political views are almost the exact opposite of President Donald Trump Jr.'s, which she discusses with enthusiasm. As you finish your burger, your phone begins ringing. Unknown Number. You excuse yourself and answer."Who is this?"A familiar voice responds: "It's me, Elizabeth."Three years without a single word. And now she's calling."Elizabeth?" You recognize her voice immediately. Soft and impossible to mistake."I'm sorry I was gone for so long," she says. "I'll explain everything.""Three years is a long time," you reply. "And I'm busy right now.""I'll keep it short." She takes a shaky breath. "Three years ago, I Awakened. It happened in the middle of the night. I wanted to test my powers. I had a stealth ability called Shadow Step. The net had caught her completely. The more she struggled, the worse it became. Ropes tightened around her arms and legs until she could barely move. For over an hour she remained trapped in the darkness of the sewer tunnels.Eventually a goblin patrol found her. They cut her free. Then immediately placed an iron collar around her neck, and dragged her deeper underground. The lower levels of the nest were unlike anything she had imagined. The air was damp and foul. The smell of mold, stagnant water, sickness, and unwashed bodies hung permanently in the tunnels. There were chambers filled with crude bedding made from scavenged cloth. There were holding cells, and inside those cells were women. Some looked exhausted. Some looked frightened. Some barely reacted at all. One woman had a badly infected wound on her leg that seemed to be worsening by the day. Slimes drifted lazily through stone channels carved into the floor. That was the moment she realized the severity of her situation. The goblins took turns to torment her. The days that followed eventually blurred together. Sometimes she slept. Sometimes she stared into darkness. Sometimes she drifted through strange dreams. At some point she stopped feeling entirely human. Reality became distant and memory became unreliable. One day she briefly regained clarity and discovered her mouth filled with ejaculate. The taste was revolting, like spoiled mushrooms soaked in stagnant water. She spat it out immediately. Only then did she realize she had been eating it for weeks.Later she learned the goblin shaman had been feeding the captives a medicinal mixture made from slime, moss, and other dungeon ingredients. It dulled the mind, blurred memories, and made resistance difficult.Among them crawled goblin cubs. The creatures constantly fought one another. Biting, scratching, screaming. One moment they would be playing. The next they would be trying to gouge each other's eyes out.At some point she discovered she was pregnant. The realization frightened her more than anything else.
Five months later, rescue finally arrived. Hunters from the Black Crypt Guild breached the nest and evacuated the survivors. When they found her, she was barely capable of understanding what was happening. The first thing she remembered was sunlight and then sitting inside a large tent erected in a nearby park. Someone had given her clean clothes and a bowl of hot food. It was the first normal meal she had eaten in months.A physician named Dr. Kiley examined her. She asked if she wanted an abortion. Elizabeth quietly agreed. The crude field hospital lacked the comforts of a real medical center. The smells of antiseptic and blood mixed together. The pain came in waves despite every effort to minimize it. She remembered gripping the sides of the table until her fingers cramped. Remembered crying. Remembered wanting it to be over. The goblin's limbs were removed piece by piece, each step accompanied by the soft clink of metal tools being set aside. Then, the skull was crushed and suctioned out. >Search for information about the Black Crypt Guild [Rolled 56]>Search for information about goblin nests [Rolled 92]>Bake Ezekiel's BreadThe next morning begins with baking. You have never baked bread before in your life, but the recipe itself is simple. Flour, water, yeast, and salt. The special ingredient is less conventional. Since obtaining cow excrement on short notice proves difficult, you substitute your own contribution for the requirements of [Ezekiel's Bread]. You mix everything together into a rough ball of dough and place it in the oven. You open your laptop and begin researching. The first subject is the Black Crypt Guild. According to news reports, it's an illegal guild operating outside the authority of the Hunter Association. The organization has been linked to grave robbing, murder, and necrophilia. Its leader is known only as "The Wraith." According to rumors, he is a high-ranking necromancer attempting to build an army of undead. While researching, your phone vibrates. A message from Dahnbee. Attached is a photograph: a dead crow nailed to a front door. You stare at the image for several seconds.Dahnbee's message is short. "I'm scared."Whether it is a prank, a threat, or something else entirely, someone clearly wanted to send a message.Next, you research goblin nests. Goblins are among the most common creatures to escape during Dungeon Breaks. Unlike other monsters, they rarely attack cities directly. Instead, they scatter and hide underground. Over time, they establish nests. The wealthier districts of Chicago receive regular extermination patrols from guilds and government hunters. Poor neighborhoods are another story. Large portions of the western and southern sewer systems are reportedly infested to varying degrees. Then you stumble onto something strange. After digging through several dark web forums, you find a leaked memo supposedly written by a Hunter Association contractor. The document claims the Association has deliberately introduced goblins into poorer districts. According to the anonymous source, the resulting fear increases public dependence on the Association and strengthens its political influence. That sounds ridiculous. A conspiracy theory. And yet... The more you think about it, the less certain you become. The Hunter Association keeps plenty of secrets, and you've already decided to ignore their registration requirements.
A terrible smell pulls you away from your research. The bread is ready. You remove the loaf from the oven using oven mitts. The result is uneven and misshapen. Frankly, it looks terrible. The moment the loaf leaves the oven, a blue screen appears.[SYSTEM QUEST: THE FALL OF CHICAGO I]>Chicago has defiled herself and become a city of sin and corruption. Your first stop is Rachel's desk. Except Rachel is not there. No handbag or coffee mug. No monitor is running. The cubicle is completely empty."Where's Rachel?" you ask Tyler. The bearded man in the neighboring cubicle swivels his chair toward you. "Oh, you didn't hear?""Hear what?""She had a rough day yesterday. She was driving to the University of Chicago Medical Center for a meeting related to a provider review when she got into a car accident. Concussion. Possible spinal injury. They admitted her to the Center for Care and Discovery."Well. That certainly makes things easier. You spend the next hour reviewing your assigned case.A woman has gone viral on social media after publicly pleading for coverage for her twenty-year-old daughter, Katy Mayor, who suffered a severe brain injury. The post has attracted sympathy from friends, former classmates, and strangers alike. Unfortunately, she also tagged the CEO Brian Evanko directly. Your job is to prepare documentation for escalation to the Special Investigations Unit. Management wants the situation contained before it grows further. You rub your forehead. Every case feels worse than the last. Part of you considers healing Katy. But two miraculous recoveries linked to your cases would be difficult to explain. For now, you decide to leave the matter alone. When lunch finally arrives, you drive back to the University of Chicago. Finding Rachel's room proves easy. Getting inside is harder. A man dressed in black stands outside the door. Sunglasses. Expensive gear. A massive sword resting beside him. Hunter. You immediately wonder why an insurance employee has a hunter bodyguard."I work with her," you explain. "I brought snacks."The hunter checks something on his phone. A moment later, he nods."Go ahead."Rachel looks surprised when you enter."Yeongya?"She shifts slightly in her hospital bed."What are you doing here?""Visiting a coworker."You place the container on a nearby table. Rachel immediately notices the smell. Her face twists.“What is that…?”You move before she can react, stepping onto the side of the bed and climbing over her body. The mattress dips under your weight as you position yourself directly above her, blocking her movement with your knees on either side of her frame.“Hey... what are you doing?!”
You place your palm firmly over her mouth. She struggles beneath you, turning her head and trying to break free, but you hold steady."Don’t move, please," you say quickly. With your free hand, you pinch her nose shut, cutting off her air. Her eyes widen in reflexive panic. Instinct kicks in immediately; she gasps and opens her mouth to breathe. In that exact moment, you shove a piece of bread between her lips. "You need to eat this."Rachel coughs violently, trying to spit it out the moment it enters her mouth. She turns her head, struggling harder now. You adjust your grip immediately, switching positions: one hand holds her jaw steady while the other pinches her nose again, forcing her to breathe through her mouth."Eat this if you want to breathe!"She thrashes once more, weaker this time. Then, finally, her throat moves. She swallows.>>6421076[SYSTEM QUEST: COMPLETE][YOU HAVE GAINED A PARTY MEMBER][THE TARGET HAS GAINED THE UNIQUE CLASS: PRIEST'S MAID]Several more screens appear before your eyes. >Sleep on her couch>Drinks with coworkers>Search for information about the Hunter Association [Rolled: 96]You are sitting on Dahnbee's couch with your laptop open, researching the Hunter Association.Officially, the Association is an international organization that operates independently of national governments. It regulates guilds, parties, auctions, hunter disputes, contracts, and countless other aspects of Awakened life. If an Awakened needs something, the local Association Tower is usually the place to go.Digging through dark web forums, you discover allegations that rarely appear in public discussions. Low-rank hunters frequently borrow money from the Association to purchase weapons, armor, and dungeon equipment. When they fail to repay their debts, they can be sold at private auctions as slaves. The allegations do not stop there. Several sources claim the Association also traffics civilians and sentient dungeon races. Elves, beastkin, and other intelligent creatures discovered inside dungeons appear in the same auctions. You close the laptop. That's enough research for one evening."I'll be back later," you tell Dahnbee. Then you head downtown. Kasey's Tavern sits in the South Loop only a few minutes from the office. Your coworkers gather there almost every Friday. Normally you avoid them. Sixty hours per week is already more than enough. Still, you do not exactly have a thriving social life. A few drinks sound tolerable. The usual faces are present: Tyler, a few coworkers, and Jacob, your boss."Look who's here!" Jacob shouts. You can tell immediately that he is drunk. The group has only been drinking for a couple of hours. Westerners really cannot hold their alcohol. Kasey's is famous for its beer selection: more than a hundred varieties line the menu. Tonight everyone seems committed to a locally brewed lager called "Beer For Kicks".Jacob raises his glass. "That's my boy, Yeongya. He's made me fifty thousand dollars this week. Next week, you’re making me a hundred thousand, right?”His humor is heavy. The work talk after work is heavy too. Still, there is one thing you appreciate about Jacob. The drunker he gets, the more unhinged he becomes. His jokes turn crude, his opinions more offensive, and soon he is ranting about women, management, and anything else that comes to mind. And that, in its own way, becomes entertainment.
"The Chicago Sky have been awful lately," Tyler complains. "I'm already down a thousand bucks from sports betting."A few beers later, even conversations about sports start to feel engaging."What platform are you using?" you ask."Polymarket. You want to give it a try?"Answer:>"No.">"Yeah, sounds great. I'll bet $500 on the Chicago Sky."***The next thing you know, sunlight is shining through a window. You slowly open your eyes. A dull headache greets you immediately. Dahnbee's living room. Right. At some point during the night, you must have returned here. Dahnbee is sitting in a nearby chair reading a magazine. When she notices you're awake, she smiles. "Good morning. Thank you for watching over me this night. That bird incident really worried me."She stands and walks into the kitchen. A moment later she returns with a glass of water.Your memory of getting back here is a bit hazy. Still, you kept your promise. No additional threats appeared. Every day, migrant children stand on street corners selling candy bars for a few dollars each. There are hundreds, perhaps thousands. Many never attend school. >Find talent among candy-selling kids [Roll: 88]You drive toward the South Loop. The area around Kasey's Tavern feels relatively safe, but everyone knows where the boundary lies. Any further south and you start entering neighborhoods where even hunters think twice before wandering around alone. Once, Chicago was famous for its skyline, its architecture, its ambition. Now it resembles a ruin that people never stopped living in. A man sleeps beneath a bus stop shelter wrapped in plastic garbage bags. You cannot tell whether they are his possessions or simply whatever he managed to collect from a dumpster. You keep walking. Eventually you find what you are looking for. A child selling candy. Then another. Then three more. Finding them is not difficult. You spend the next two hours administering your improvised intelligence test. It's just a series of visual puzzles and captcha-like challenges. The faster and more accurately a child solves them, the higher they score. In exchange for participating, you promise to buy a candy bar. Given how difficult it is to sell overpriced candy on the street, most of them agree immediately. The clear winner is a girl named Luna. Not only does she outperform every boy who takes the test, but she does so by a considerable margin. The real issue is her personality. There is a fire in her that refuses to break. It can produce exceptional results just as easily as it can destroy an entire party."How about coming with me, Luna?"She narrows her eyes. "Fuck off, mister. I don't like your face."You sigh. Negotiations are apparently required."If you come with me, I'll give you a hundred bucks."Her expression changes. "Okay. I'm coming."You silently pray that your sports betting pays off this month.
By the time you return to the church, Elder Hue Doan has assembled several candidates. They sit around a table waiting. You have to admit, he has done impressive work. Most people interested in becoming hunters eventually awaken on their own. Finding people who are both unawakened and willing to take the risk is surprisingly difficult. None of them are exactly the ideal Christians you imagined, but all of them genuinely want a different future.Hue introduces the candidates one by one. The first is Yukiho. Eighteen years old. Androgynous. Recently kicked out by her parents after she was caught "doing it" with her girlfriend. For the past month she has been living in an LGBTQ+ transitional home affiliated with Lawrence Hall. According to Hue, she was the most stable resident available. The others struggled with severe behavioral issues or serious mental illness. Yukiho spends most of her time playing video games. She has no education and the depressed expression on her face never changes. The second candidate is Nhu Quynh. Twenty-five years old. Former sex worker. Former drug addict. Now employed at a nail salon. She is undeniably attractive, although signs of bimbofication are obvious. Nhu Quynh openly admits she wants adventure. And money. Lots of money. She demonstrates impressive flexibility and agility, which could be useful inside a dungeon. More than once during the introduction, she asks how much money hunters actually make. The third candidate is Zen. A relative of Hue. Thirty-two years old. Only five-foot-two. Despite her size, she carries herself like someone accustomed to winning fights. She trains with the Chicago Muay Thai Kickboxing Club and carries herself with absolute confidence. Unlike the others, she seems completely unafraid of dungeons. Neither monsters nor violence seem to intimidate her. Her major drawback is religious: she is a practicing Buddhist. Finally, Hue addresses the subject of Dahnbee."She declined.""Declined?"Hue nods. "She doesn't want to fight nor risk her life. She wants stability and community."A disappointing answer, but not a surprising one.You study the candidates while they wait. Luna is already eating muffins she found somewhere. Now your group consists of a Crusader, a Warrior, and a Maid. Only two more Awakened recruits remain before the System quest is complete."I awakened!"Zen immediately demonstrates this by throwing a roundhouse kick into the empty air. The motion is fast."I feel powerful.""Congratulations," you say. "You made the right decision when you joined my party."She throws another kick with the opposite leg. The movement is precise and controlled. Years of training are obvious. Even her strikes possess a certain elegance."Do you have money for equipment?" you ask."Not much. I still live at home. Sometimes I get paid for fights. Sometimes I work part-time.""That's unfortunate. I only have about three hundred dollars.""So we're broke.""Basically."Zen grins. "That's okay. A short while later, you drive toward the University of Chicago Center for Care and Discovery. Luna and Zen occupy the back seats. During the drive, you check the rear-view mirror. The black Tesla is there. Always maintaining distance. Always following. Whether it belongs to Nhu Quynh or to someone else entirely remains unknown. You do not like it.The bodyguard remains stationed outside Rachel's hospital room. Twenty-four-hour protection. When he sees you approach, he simply nods and allows the three of you inside.Rachel is awake. The moment she sees you, her expression darkens."Good afternoon, Rachel. How are you feeling?""What have you done to me? You assaulted me."Her voice rises. "And I can't tell anyone about it. Every time I try, I feel horrible pain."Assault? It's true, your recruitment methods had been a bit aggressive.Since she refuses to answer your question, you assess the situation yourself. She is still confined to bed. Still wearing hospital pajamas. If she had eaten the bread, the healing should have helped. Unless... She threw it away. Or her injuries were more severe than expected. "You have the Maid class now," you explain. "When you disobey my orders, the System punishes you."Rachel stares at you. "What the fuck? Is this some kind of joke?""No. It is how the System works. I'm the Priest. You're the Priest's Maid.""That can't be real. I am so fucking angry right now."She opens her mouth to continue arguing, then suddenly winces. The movement alone seems painful. You smirk. Her Loyalty Score remains visible in the Party Interface. Loyalty: 0. Exactly what you expected. Rachel does not merely dislike you; she actively despises you, and the System appears to be quantifying that fact. Then Luna suddenly speaks. "Miss. I found an entrance to a rich people's basement and I've been sleeping there for several months. The other kids haven't found it.""What would happen if they did?""They'd beat me up and take it.""Are the kids violent toward each other?""Yes. The kids in groups target the ones who are alone. I have to fight every day for my money."Then she pats one of her pockets."The hundred bucks you gave me, I'll hide it really well."That explains several things, including her favored enemy. The System had apparently analyzed her entire life and concluded that children were the opponents she fought most often."Do adult gangs bother you?""No. They don't come into the rich people's areas. But we have to watch out for the Party People. They're fighting Ambrose over 18th Street. And they make kids fight for them. We call it the warzone. "I have many professional skills. I type quickly. I handle professional phone calls. I manage schedules. I organize documents. I...""What else?""I don't know..."Suddenly she winces. For a moment, it is obvious she is experiencing excruciating pain. The System is clearly forcing her to answer. She opens her mouth again."I'm good at sucking dick."She is clearly embarrassed about revealing it. Unfortunately, she is completely misunderstanding the question."I mean, what are you good for in the Awakened world?""Well, I suppose there's my wealth. If wealth made Elon Musk a top ranker, then it must be useful, right?"You cannot argue with that. Thanks to his enormous fortune, Elon Musk is widely regarded as the strongest hunter in the United States. His party routinely clears dungeons that would wipe out ordinary guilds."Then why are you working in an office?""It's my father.""What about him?""Let's just say I pissed him off. She's a chaebol. Awakening really has revealed a world hidden in plain sight."So I can use you as my personal ATM, right?""No." The answer comes instantly. "I can help a little. But look. Rachel says nothing, but her body has fully recovered from her injuries.About an hour later, you find yourself inside the Hunter Association Tower in Edgewater, accompanied by Luna and Zen. The building is enormous. White marble floors stretch across a vast lobby. Statues of heroes, saints, and figures from mythology stand between tall pillars.Guild registration counters occupy one side of the hall, and quest registration occupies another. A large wooden board covered with handwritten requests stands near the center. Unlike System quests, anyone can post these jobs and offer rewards.Above the main floor, an elevated tavern overlooks the main hall. Hunters drink beer from oversized mugs while eating roasted meats and medieval cuisine. In one corner of the hall sits a group of hunters dressed entirely in white. Their hair is long and carefully maintained, and their bearing is elegant. The White Guild, the second most powerful guild in Chicago. It's an international Christian guild whose ultimate authority rests with the Pope in Rome. Locally, the guild answers to Cardinal Cupich. Even sitting quietly, they attract attention.Another group enters shortly afterward. The Alpha Guild, Chicago's most powerful guild. Their members wear black leather and travel in strict formations. Each party is organized around a single Alpha surrounded by four Omegas. The Omegas suffer extremely high casualty rates during dungeon raids and serve as disposable meat shields. You notice one of their Omegas with pussy lips stapled together, visible due to her revealing clothing. The guild's reputation for fleshcrafting and extreme body modification is well known throughout the city.
Your attention returns to potential recruits. The F-rank hunters are easy to identify: their equipment gives them away. One young woman appears to be using a frying pan as her primary weapon. You immediately rule her out.Nearby, a beastfolk woman passes through the hall. She possesses the ears and tail of a rodent and the faint smell of sewers follows her. According to dark web forums, most beastfolk are quickly recruited by elite parties or sold into slavery due to their rarity. However, rat beastfolk occupy a very low position in the social hierarchy. This one appears entirely alone. Maybe you could recruit her? Then another person approaches. An Indian woman wrapped in worn clothing. A red scarf conceals much of her face. She extends both hands toward you."I am Saanjh the Leper," she says. "Please, sir. Give me some money."You study her carefully. She is another potential recruit. You still need two more party members. Who will you recruit? You hand Saanjh one hundred dollars. She pockets it immediately."I have the unique class Beggar-Thief," she says. "Perhaps you would like to invite me to your party?""You should invite her," Luna says. "She looks tough."You glance at Luna. Then back at Saanjh."I don't know. I'm not sure I trust her." >>6427869"You should invite her," Luna insists.Saanjh places a hand on Luna's shoulder."Thank you, young lady. Kali's blessing."Then she walks away. A few minutes later, Luna suddenly pats her pocket. Her expression changes instantly."My money!"She checks again."My money is gone!"Zen sighs. "If anything, Saanjh demonstrated her rogue skills. Next time, I'll teach you a stance that makes pickpocketing harder."Saanjh is long gone by then.Another candidate has caught your eye. The red tribal tattoos covering Filthwitch's face immediately stand out."I'm interested in joining your party," she says. "But is it queer-friendly and neurodivergent-friendly?""Yes," you answer. "No worries. I'm autisexual and bisexual myself." >>6420214 >>6420001"Oh. Autisexual is a new term to me, but it's good to know you're accepting."The conversation continues. Before long, she begins discussing baneful herbs."Baneful herbs?""Part of the Poison Path tradition. I study occult herbalism. Poisonous plants. Consciousness-altering plants. Magical plants. A bit of medicine, too."The more she speaks, the more impressive her knowledge becomes. She is currently writing a book about overcoming CPTSD through a devotional relationship with Lilith. Her story is one of survival against a tidal wave of forces: addiction, abuse, neglect, incest, filth, scapegoating, and the crushing of her boundaries and self. Some parts of her story resonate uncomfortably well.Meanwhile, Luna has already wandered off. This time she has discovered Pepper, the rat beastfolk mage. Before you can intervene, Luna has already wrapped her in a hug. You try not to think about how much time Pepper probably spends in the sewers."Whaaat?" Luna says. "You're so cute.""I know, I know," Pepper replies. "I can't believe I still haven't found my prince charming.""Can I pet your head?"Pepper bends down. "Go ahead. You can scratch my cheeks too." "Let's recruit her.""The last person you recommended stole all your money.""It's true she's cute," Zen says. "Most people wouldn't let a child pet their head."You turn toward Pepper."What can you actually do?""I play violin," Pepper answers. "And I know a bit of magic."You consider this carefully. Then decide not to overthink it."Fine."You open the Party Menu. Invitation sent. Invitation accepted. Only one slot remains.
After several more conversations, you encounter Cindy. The armored warrior stands near a quest board. At first glance, she appears trustworthy and disciplined. The fact that she is E-rank also helps. The conversation lasts less than two minutes. You learn only a few things. Her former guild betrayed her. Since then she has worked alone. Outside of hunting, nearly all of her free time is spent training."What are you looking for in a party?" you ask."Honor. Virtue."That is apparently the entire answer."What do you think?" you ask Zen."Another Warrior? How are we supposed to deal with traps, scouting, and ranged combat? We don't have a rogue." >>6427878"Party dynamics matter too. I'd rather have people I trust." >>6427631"We should invite the knight lady," Luna says."Why?""Her hair is pretty."Unfortunately, Luna has a point. Cindy's long dark hair flows behind her armor. Despite looking fully capable of cleaving monsters in half, she could probably star in a historical drama. Compared to some of the rogues you've interviewed today, she seems refreshingly normal. Several candidates openly discussed previous arrests."Fine," Zen says. It's her turn to compromise. You open the Party Menu. Then another idea occurs to you. Rachel. "It was already popular before the Breach. Afterwards, it became even more popular because it proved extremely effective against monsters."A few minutes later, you enter Bangkok Weapon Store on West Thorndale Avenue. The shop is small but packed with merchandise. Wooden weapons line the walls from floor to ceiling. Several painted shields hang overhead. Many are decorated with lions and yaksha. The painted ogres stare down with bulging eyes and massive tusks. Even as decorations, they feel intimidating.Luna immediately runs toward the weapon racks, and grabs an adult-sized sword. To your surprise, she lifts it without difficulty.
>Shopping Mini GameYou have a total budget of $10,000. Each anon may purchase equipment for only one character (Yeongya, Luna, Zen, Cindy, or Pepper), with a maximum of five items per character. Once a character has received purchases from one anon, that character becomes unavailable and no other anon may buy equipment for them. In short: one anon, one character.Purchases will be processed sequentially in posting order, from top to bottom. Once the budget has been exhausted, all remaining purchases will be ignored.Pepper already owns a violin. Cindy already owns a sword, a full set of armor, and additional dungeon loot that will be determined after the mini game.Rachel's available budget is currently unknown and may range anywhere from $1,000 to $100,000. If all the other party members have purchased equipment, then anons who have not yet participated may purchase up to five items each for Rachel. There is a Dollar General two blocks south of Bangkok Weapon Store. The location is interesting. Next to it sits an abortion clinic and a Chase Bank. In front of the store entrance is a man so enormously overweight that he moves exclusively by grocery scooter. Gluttony. Fornication. Usury. No wonder the System calls Chicago the Land of Magog. You wonder which of the three sins is the worst. Inside the store, you search for hair products. This proves more difficult than expected. You know almost nothing about hair care. Shampoo. Conditioner. Moisturizer. Hair oil. To you, it all looks interchangeable. If Samson's Strength depends on healthy hair, then learning these things may become necessary. Eventually, you select a bottle of French castor oil. Not because you understand the product, but because Elizabeth used to buy it. You toss it into the shopping basket. For a brief moment, you consider purchasing a weapon. >>6428684 A crossbow might be useful as a way to contribute damage from a safe distance. But you dismiss the idea. You are a healer. Let the others handle combat.Outside, you decide to test Adam's Armor. You remove your clothing and place the newly purchased backpack over your shoulders. The ability requires nudity, and you are unsure whether the backpack will interfere. Pressing your thumb against your forearm, you test your skin. The sensation is immediately different. It's dense and tough, like hardened leather. The ability still works. Nearby, the man on the scooter opens a Miller Lite and stares at you.
Once shopping is complete, the party regroups outside Bangkok Weapon Store. While the others examine their purchases, Cindy shares some of her experience. When she first Awakened, she struggled to find a guild willing to recruit an inexperienced hunter. Eventually, she joined the Alpha Guild as an Omega, the lowest position within the guild. The experience left deep scars. She speaks only briefly about that period of her life. She mentions betrayal, humiliation, and the loss of her former companions. Whatever happened within the Alpha Guild, it destroyed her trust in large guilds. That is all she is willing to say. Still, she agrees to answer questions about dungeons.>What level of technology exists inside dungeons? >>6428571According to Cindy, dungeons appear to be locked in "medieval science". Modern firearms do not function properly inside. Even muskets and air guns fail. Hunters have attempted countless workarounds over the years, but none have proven reliable. Some believe the laws of physics are altered inside dungeon environments. Others believe the System actively suppresses technologies that exceed certain thresholds. No one really knows.>Who controls the dungeons? In the United States, all dungeon activity falls under the authority of the Hunter Association. Guilds may purchase exploration rights to specific dungeons. Once a guild acquires those rights, it can legally restrict access or charge entrance fees. If a dungeon experiences a containment failure or outbreak, the guild that owns the dungeon is generally held accountable. Not every dungeon is claimed. Low-rank dungeons, remote dungeons, and unprofitable locations are often ignored by major guilds. These neglected areas frequently become gathering places for outlaw hunters and illegal guilds.>Why don't governments simply send armies into dungeons? Dungeons react to intruders. The larger the invading force, the stronger the dungeon's defenses become. Additional monsters appear. New traps emerge. Existing creatures become more aggressive. The effect scales dramatically. As a result, small parties consistently outperform large military formations. Evidence suggests that dungeons pull creatures, environments, objects, and hazards from alternate realities. If a dungeon grows unstable, catastrophic breaches can occur. The most famous example is Detroit. Several years ago, a large-scale dungeon outbreak overwhelmed all containment efforts. The city was effectively destroyed. Today, Detroit remains largely abandoned and overrun. What now?>Ask Pepper about her home world>Have a practice fight between Zen and Cindy>Search for information about the Alpha Guild [Roll 1d100, DC 50]>Write-in

>>6428858>According to Cindy, dungeons appear to be locked in "medieval science".After giving it some thought, the most cost-effective melee gear is like surplus police riot gear; that large, transparent polycarbonate shield alone is amazing, add on a helmet with faceshield, riot armor, and a weapon like a one-handed warhammer or an axe/hatchet, you could both see and attack from cover without exposing anything except the attack arm.Add in a gas mask, CS/tear gas/pesticide, and you'll dominate near any enclosed space against the average enemy in melee.https://kommandostore.com/products/paulson-bs-9-riot-shieldhttps://kommandostore.com/products/paulson-dk-5-universal-riot-face-shield-copyhttps://kommandostore.com/products/police-trade-in-tr-1000-riot-helmethttps://kommandostore.com/products/police-trade-in-rbr-ballistic-helmetsAlso, we should really get whistles for everyone; it's essential for communication when there's no modern tech, and in places like the sewers if we ever have to split up.
>>6428862ThirdingWe should at least find out contact information and the living arrangements of our party, otherwise it'd be hard to meet up and schedule anything together. Before we part, Luna (and we) could decide who she should stay with. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGsevnbItdUHUNTR/X - How It's Done>Write-in: Have Zen and Cindy show some basic sword fighting skills to Luna.Past the Hunter Association Tower, West Thorndale Avenue eventually gives way to fine, clean sand. One of the few places in Chicago that still feels untouched. The blue waters of Lake Michigan stretch endlessly toward the horizon. For a moment, it feels peaceful. The soft ground also makes it a perfect training area.Cindy proves to be a disappointing instructor. Her teaching philosophy consists almost entirely of: "Hit the enemy with your weapon until they die."You stare at her."That's it?""Yes.""..."As a result, Luna's training is delegated to Zen."I don't need training," Luna declares. "I'm already strong.""We'll see."Without warning, she tosses a krabong toward Luna. The girl catches it effortlessly."Show me what you can do."Immediately, Luna lets out a roar and charges forward. The weapon is raised high above her head. Zen simply steps to the side. Then she taps Luna on the top of the head with her own krabong.>BONK"Ouch!"Luna grabs her head. "That hurt!""I avoided your attack with simple footwork. You have no footwork, no balance, and no power.""Ah! I don't care! You hurt me!""This is nothing," Cindy says. "In a dungeon, you'll be fighting for your life.""Waahh!!!"Luna charges again. This time she is angry. Zen steps aside again. Then delivers a push kick. Luna flies forward and lands face-first in the sand. For several seconds, she remains there. Then she slowly pushes herself upright."Are you sure you don't need training?" Zen asks.Luna brushes sand from her face. She looks a bit angry, but she is not crying. The kid is tougher than she looks."Fine. You can teach me."For now, she decides to teach only a single technique: the basic krabong swing. A beginner's movement, yet even learning it competently requires months of practice. You can see krabong in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciuw7w3EJ5c
>Practice Match: Luna vs ZenWe will have a one-round practice fight between Luna and Zen. The players will control Luna, while the QM will control Zen. Hopefully, she's cool about Luna almost killing her with our help. If anything, Luna will respect Zen a hell of a lot more now that she tried all her tricks, used her best attack, was boosted by us personally, and Zen STILL managed to not only take it, but look cool doing it.
>Cast Samson's Strength on Luna [Rolled 88]>Regular attack with greatsword [Rolled 94]Combined both votesChicago's current temperature: 74°F (Pleasant)You place your hand near Luna's head."Samson's Strength!"Golden light flows from your palm. The energy travels directly into her hair, causing several strands to glow faintly. Interesting. It's a convenient way of knowing when the buff expires. The spell creates no visible change in her physique. No larger muscles or swelling veins. The power resides entirely within her hair."How do you feel?" you ask."Normal. I don't feel anything."Several yards away, Zen waits in shallow water. "When fighting, tactics matter as much as strength," she says. "You told me you can't swim. So I'm standing in the water. If things go badly, I can retreat into deeper water.""I don't mind."Luna bows. For a brief moment, neither moves. Then she charges. A real krabi-krabong duel bears little resemblance to swashbuckling movies. There are no dramatic sequences of endless blocks and parries. Most fights end after a single successful attack. Either Zen slips around the blade and lands a strike. Or she gets impaled.Zen attempts the same sidestep she used earlier. Unfortunately, she overlooked one detail. The shallow water slows her movement. Just enough. Luna's greatsword crashes into her side. The impact sends Zen stumbling into the water with a splash. Fortunately, the blow is not clean; Zen partially evades at the last moment. Her leather vest absorbs much of the force. It would have been unfortunate to destroy equipment she purchased only recently. More importantly, it could have resulted in a serious injury. >>6429979 You had been prepared to cast Heal immediately if necessary. In less than a second, Zen is back on her feet. "The winner is Luna," you announce."Yeah. Now give me cash and ice cream."Zen sighs."As a fighter, you can't afford junk food. You need protein and a good diet. That's how you build muscle."Pepper smiles. "Ah. That's why you have such a nice body."Zen laughs. "Exactly."The training session comes to an end. >Random event: PC Negative [60], Divide of Power [74, 63] This event will be used for the next update.>Find a home for Luna"Okay," you say. "That was a productive day. Let's split up and meet tomorrow morning at Restoration Church."Then your eyes drift toward Luna. She is homeless. Technically, she has survived on her own this long, but now that she is a party member, you feel some responsibility toward her.You begin considering options. Zen is immediately eliminated: she still lives at home. Pepper is even worse. The rat girl lives in the sewers. The sewers are not only filthy but also full of goblins and monsters. Unfortunately, Luna seems to love the idea."I wanna live with Pepper.""No," you say immediately. The most logical choice is Rachel. She has money and education. More importantly, she can provide a stable environment that Luna currently lacks. At present, the girl is dirty, ill-mannered, semi-feral, and illiterate. You call Rachel."What?""Hello again, Rachel. I have a favor to ask.""What do you want?""Luna needs somewhere to stay.""No way. I don't like children. They're noisy and smelly.""Well, if you teach her how to bathe, she won't smell anymore.""I'm not dealing with that. I'm not a nanny!"You pull the phone slightly away from your ear. Technically, you could force the issue. As a Priest's Maid, Rachel is forced to obey direct orders. The problem is that her Loyalty Score remains at zero. Ordering her to raise a child would probably not improve the situation. The alternative is Cindy. The warrior owns a small apartment in Edgewater. She may not have much time due to her obsessive training schedule, but at least Luna would learn some discipline.Neither option is ideal.Who will Luna live with?>Rachel, in a civilized home>Cindy, in a fighter's home>Pepper, in the sewers
>Analyze gangs for the "Fall of Chicago" quest [rolled 94]Later that evening, you sit alone in your apartment. A glass of red wine rests beside your laptop. Outside, distant sirens echo somewhere across the city. Normally, a Saturday night would involve watching TV and procrastination. Instead, you decide to research gangs.Your first thought is the Party People. A Latino gang operating on the Lower West Side. According to Luna, they routinely exploit children and send them to fight rival gangs around 18th Street. Unfortunately, their territory is on the West Side, and the quest specifically references the South Side.So you continue searching. Maps. Crime statistics. Neighborhood reports. Modern Chicago is effectively divided into zones. The North Side is largely White. The West Side is Latino. The South Side is African-American. The Chicago River acts as a natural boundary between these territories. Large portions of both the West Side and South Side are no-go zones. There are exceptions. The University of Chicago in Hyde Park remains heavily protected and relatively safe. Chinatown survives behind reinforced walls, isolated from the surrounding neighborhoods. Some gangs are simply too large to consider. The Black Disciples count roughly fifteen thousand members. The Gangster Disciples are even larger: around thirty thousand. Their iconography openly embraces Satanic themes. According to various interviews, many members view Christianity as a tool historically used to justify slavery. Anyway, organizations that size resemble armies more than street gangs. You need something smaller. Then you find something interesting. A channel belonging to Tyler Oliveira. The journalist had been banned from entering Israel in 2026 before disappearing from public view shortly afterward. His videos, however, remain online.https://youtu.be/_Z_npIoT978?t=475 One of them focuses on Chicago gangs. One gang in particular catches your attention: "SpinNem," a tiny African-American gang operating in Englewood with only five members. More importantly, the footage provides valuable intelligence. Locations. Faces. Even weapons. One member, "Bally", openly displays a Micro Draco pistol, which is essentially a compact AK-pattern firearm. The others carry ordinary handguns. None wear armor or possess dungeon equipment. You feel satisfied: this is the sort of information that wins fights.Your thoughts drift toward another problem: Dahnbee. Last night you stayed at her house after the crow incident. Nothing happened afterward. But you still do not know whether the threat has passed, or whether whoever did it is simply waiting. How will you spend the night?>Sleep at your own place>Sleep at Dahnbee's place
OOC: Feel free to post your interpretation of the "Divide of Power" event; I’ll roll with it.
Can we ask nicely Dahnbee to house Luna?(why can't Luna live with us?)
>>6430449I don't like that Pepper lives in the sewers, either. In a pinch, Luna can crash with us for the time being, or perhaps stay at the church? It's too soon to push Luna on Rachel or Dahnbee, or even Cindy, really. I think it's best for Luna that she crashes with us for a night or two so we can get an idea of what her disposition is like and how well she can be house-trained before we decide.Pepper, what's her deal? Does she live in the sewer by choice or did circumstances force her into and now she's just used to it? While I won't force her out of the sewers right now, after we've done some quests and earned some rewards I think it'd be best for all involved that she gets better accommodations. >Luna will live with us for now (a few days), then we'll decide from there.>>6430450>Sleep at your own placeIf it's really Elizabeth, continuing to sleep at Dahnbee's place is just going to set her off even harder. We can't spend every night at her place, and we're not even in a relationship as far as we can tell; we've just met once.

>Luna will live with us>Sleep at your own placeLuna emerges from the bathroom. Unfortunately, she still smells terrible. Not quite sewer terrible, but close. You stare at her."Luna, did you use soap?""No. Should I?"You immediately stand up and inspect the bathroom. The sight that greets you is horrifying. Water covers half the floor. The shower curtain has somehow ended up outside the bathtub. Several towels are soaked. You close your eyes. For fuck's sake."Yes," you say. "You should use soap. We'll deal with this tomorrow."Then asks: "Would you like a glass of wine?""No. I want ice cream."This is the third time she has mentioned ice cream since the mock fight. You have no ice cream. Your diet mostly consists of healthy food and fruit. You like maintaining a decent physique. Luna looks disappointed."I'm bored."You hand her the TV remote."Watch something."When you found her selling candy, she barely had access to electricity, let alone cable TV. For her, this is practically a luxury. A few minutes later she settles on a program: Ancient Aliens. You watch silently. The narrator begins discussing extraterrestrial visitors and lost civilizations. You think back to Cassandra, the strange grey alien hybrid you saw at the Hunter Association Tower. Perhaps this program will prove unexpectedly educational.
Votes regarding party leadership:>Luna: For Cindy>Zen: For Cindy>Pepper: Against>Rachel: Against (Absent)The next morning, everyone gathers in front of Restoration Church. It is ten o'clock. Luna stands beside you. Cindy, Zen, and Pepper arrive together in the same vehicle. Immediately, something feels wrong. The atmosphere is tense. You had been eager to share your findings regarding the SpinNem gang. Instead, Cindy speaks first."Yesterday, we discussed several matters. We voted.""And?""The majority supports me as leader. To put it simply, I am the highest-ranked member."For a moment, it feels as though someone has driven a knife through your chest. You look toward Zen. "Is this true?""Yes."At least she has the decency not to avoid eye contact."I didn't say anything in the hospital, but I don't think how you treated Rachel was right. I don't know the history between you two. But charging someone ten thousand dollars for healing doesn't sit right with me. And I definitely don't think forcing her to reveal humiliating personal information was right.""I see."Luna suddenly raises her hand."Cindy. What do you think about me eating whatever I want?""I don't care. That's your business.""Then I'm voting for you too."The group waits. >>6430850>Narrow your eyes>To Cindy: "... she's nine... And while she may have come from the street and know how to throw hands, I do want to raise her to be a proper human being. As for Rachel, $10k means little to her, and our team desperately needs to funds for equipment that will help us survive. I'd not have these girls go into a dungeon with nothing but sticks and pipes, and I'd rather not take loans from sponsors, surely you'd understand that.">To Luna: "You'd still have to buy the ice cream, with money, unless she (Cindy) is going to buy it for you, too. Ice cream is a luxury, a reward, so tell you what, you learn how to bathe properly (have Rachel teach her), and I'll get you a cone from that store down the street; 3 scoops, whatever flavor you want."Eh, our group is a bit of a mess right now, so honestly it might not be too terrible to let Cindy bear the brunt of the "breaking in" period. A leader needs to communicate, and from her history I doubt she'd make a good one. Besides, as the unicorn of the group, we have a lot of flexibility in terms of which group and group member we can choose; the current group isn't set in stone, so I'm not too concerned.
