Ten years ago King Aiden Perenolde betrayed the Alliance and sided with the Horde of Orgrim Doomhammer. Nine years ago Prince Alric Perenolde, the second heir of Alterac was sent into exile for his own protection. This exile turned permanent and Captain Normand Garside, your guardian for the past nine years made sure that you were safe and learned the useful skills that would help you in the future.

Now you are ready to carry the responsibility and unite the scattered Alteraci people and reclaim the lands that were once the Kingdom of Alterac.

Having returned from the Kingdom of Stormwind and the Alliance Meeting, you welcomed the peace that was in Dawnholme. Sure there was a lot of paperwork and other small things to do, but all that could be handled. Most importantly you got to be with your family and didn't have to worry about every single thing.

Though your life is anything, but boring. Contacted by Thrall, you set out to meet him. Instead of just him, you were roped into meeting some of the most notorious orcs of the Second War. Drek’Thar of Frostwolf Clan had called Grom Hellscream and the former Warchief Orgrim Doomhammer to join him. It was made clear to you that they would act next year with a goal of rescuing and freeing those held in the Internment Camps.

As the autumn meeting arrived, first it was Lord Falconcrest who interrupted you, bringing a warning to not meddle with the Syndicate as the truce is in play. And now you are meeting someone whom you haven't seen in a long long time.

Welcome to Alterac Resurgent Quest!

Closing your eyes, you forgot to breathe. Your hand left the hilt of your sword as you finally took a deep breath. She was here, wasn't she?

“It's been a while.” You heard her voice to say behind you. “You have…”

She stopped as you raised your hand up to silence her.

“How many years has it been?” You faintly asked.

“Too many.” Was her answer.

You couldn't fight against the tears any longer and turned around. She just stood there, your older sister Beve Perenolde. With just a couple steps you reached her, wrapping your arms around her and pressing your head against her shoulder.

“There there…” Beve whispered as you kept sobbing.

Gently she held you there as you fought against the tears, slowly they started to dry and with another deep breath you got them back under control and you let go of her.

“What took you so long?” You asked her and continued. “And look at you, you haven't aged at all. Just wearing all black.”

Beve was wearing waist high black trousers tucked into knee high boots. The long sleeved black shirt and gloves hid the rest of her skin. Her long smooth black hair cascaded down her shoulders and a golden amulet with a blue gem rested on her chest. She looked quite like you, just a tad older.

“You know I couldn't just come here.” She lamented. “And I was going to say, you have grown. You have grown to be a handsome young man.”

“I am going to go and wake up the others…” You started to say.

“No!” Beve raised her voice and grabbed your hand. “They cannot know, no one else needs to know. Lord Falconcrest has no idea that I am here.”

“But…”

“No buts!” Beve finished. “It is already too dangerous for me to come here.”

“Can I even…”

“No, not even to your loved one.” She said and you had to relent.

“You know about Malevus?” You asked and were a bit baffled.

“Of course I do, the older sister knows about these sorts of things.” Beve said and smiled. “I watched her work earlier today, she is beautiful.”

It was Beve's turn to take a deep breath and the smile on her face disappeared.

“Alric, as much as I would love to ask you all the questions in the world, but my time is short.” She said.

“Right right, I don't want you to go either.” You replied.

“Lord Falconcrest's warning was meant to be public, he did it as a favour to me and for himself and he did not lie.” Beve spoke to you. “The Syndicate is in a precarious position, one wrong move from any of us and we could have a civil war in our hands.”

“That is why you are against the mission Eligius and Pai are on? To avoid the spark that would ignite the conflict.” You replied.

“Yes, that is why I pushed for the truce. The Syndicate needs to concentrate on itself and not on any outside threats, as long as that happens, everyone is more careful and avoids making the wrong moves.” She said and continued. “I am very happy King Terenas took the truce and you must have pushed for it. We need that time, all of us to get ready and be prepared for what is to come.”

“What are you even planning?” You asked.

Beve looked into your eyes and was silent for a second before she spoke.

“Fratricide.” She said.

QM: 40 threads! What an accomplishment, I am feeling really happy for us to have gotten this far and I couldn't have done it without you my beautiful anons.

So as always, if you have any questions about the Quest, the characters, events or about me the QM, go ahead and ask them. I will try to answer them without revealing too much of what is to come.

>Beve is planning to kill Aliden? What has pushed her to it? Why hasn't she already done it?
Well it was Aliden's suspected letter saying that as long as we didn't cross the border into Alterac proper we wouldn't be killed. But ofc we are going to so unless hes not a man of his word it is rather a one or the other kind of situation for Beve.

>Eligius and Pai succeeding ruins her plans? Getting Alicia into safety is of utmost importance.
How are they ruining her plans?

>What of Lord Creedy or Lord Falconcrest? How do they fit into this puzzle?
Does she really need Creedy alive, or just not killed by Eligius and Pai? Which pretty much just leaves Falconcrest who is openly feuding with Aliden.

>Beve asked Falconcrest to deliver the message, what is her connection with him? Why would he do it for her?
Why trust that you can ask favors of Faloncrest. As far as Alric is aware he was the main target at the Durnholde Winter Party, and by more than just one faction. Not to mention several fights lol.

>Other, write in
"I would never know the color of the rose under your magic. What if Creedy were a rose."

If few know where Creedy truly is how will most people know he is really dead and not some doppelganger stand in. As long as all the right people disappear with help, etc.. What if this is her chance to take over his faction. At the very least I want to hear if and why it couldn't happen like that. Especially given that they both think Eligius and Pai mission is basically not going to be stopped.

>What can you do to help her?
Very tentative, depending on what she has to say to other stuff. Plus I'm curious what she would ask for which could also tell us something.

Oh right I did think of something the other day. Do Dark Irons have rune magic? Or have they given that up in favor of any other sorceries. Could be nice if the next influx of Dark Irons had someone who could make runes.

Firstly, what does she see as the civil war's triggers..
-Alric and his merry party running through Syndicate/Lordaeron territory?
-Alicia's abduction away from Creedy?
-The Alliance at large
-Some other existential threat like.. Orcs, Trolls, a Scourge?

What are the stakes of this civil war?
Will it end with the heads of the Syndicate leaders (Creedy? Aliden?), or will it spill over into this Alterac princedom or the Alliance?
Does Alric really care if it's an internal issue then? Sounds like dearest elder brother and sister have made their own beds.

What does she expect Alric to do about it?
Ignoring little innocent sister and letting her be a hostage and caught up in this war soon won't fly, and Beve's reassurances are moot.

For all her schemes and power, she cannot even keep ogres out of the capital.
TL;DR, she is shown to be ineffective and unable to keep the peace in her own backyard, why does Alric care for her schemes to protect Alicia, why would Alric support her?

>Also Kris Legace is awesome, you should give her a raise sis.
>Give FC sword training before he gets beaten -again- by Alric or Malevus. kek
>Eligius and Pai succeeding ruins her plans? Getting Alicia into safety is of utmost importance.

Just my thoughts

I believe Beve sees Alric's team killing Creedy as the main trigger. Stealing Alicia, she is the hostage that maintain the balance of the factions. I'm pretty sure Aliden gave Alicia to Creedy, if you make peace with someone giving them a hostage is the general practice I believe. Then as I see it the dominoes start falling.

Honour would dictate that Aliden and his Perenolde Loyalists Faction will have to take action against Creedy Faction (or formerly his if dead) for failing to protect Alicia as agreed, or he would lose face. So that would be Aliden going after a bunch of Creedy's stuff which he might want anyways to consolidate his power before someone else grabs them, and he might come into conflict with the Warlocks who are working with Creedy. Or with Falconcrest. I can hardly imagine a messier conflict than a bunch of angry unchecked warlocks in Strahnbrad City, next to a bunch of ogres and kobolds and Blackrock Orcs oh my.

But we also have the people who would want to strike against Alric for killing a Syndicate Lord. Not everyone wants to kill a Perenolde Prince such as the loyalists, Beve, and Aliden or Falconcrest (Beve's secret husband) up to a certain point. Anyone who thinks Creedy got what was coming to him for various assassination attempts. People who think there are bigger fish to fry like the actual Alliance or their own business ventures. These are some considerable grievances at odds with one another which could start quite a few fights and then more as it spreads, which it will as I see it.

Their entire plot centers on overthrowing the kingdoms to set the stage for a return of the Alterac Kingdom. If they took over Alterac now then the Alliance would come in and knock it down just like they did before. So presumably they have several plots already in motion to be activated on command, which the surge of syndicate forces Legace noticed in Stromgarde might indicate.

They have their tentacles, perhaps literally in the warlocks case, in quite a bit. Nobles, officers and merchants, anyone they could blackmail or coerce into action. Favors called in. Smugglers in who knows how many kingdoms. Mercs. Bandit gangs. City street gangs. Whatever it takes to actually bring down a kingdom. People agreed to leave the Capital City refugees numbering tens of thousands alone, but if agreements are torn up?

If everyone agreed the Truce is broken thats probably the time to hit the Alliance as well, a preemptive strike before they can do some damage? I'll admit that really depends on how they think. Success in destroying a kingdom could be the rallying cry that many Syndicate would flock to, which is a strong motivator for a lot of their actions so far. Get enough people and the other factions are also boned.

Of the entire family I'm pretty sure Alric loves Beve the most. Civil war is probably death, especially as she will also have to choose between Aliden and her husband Falconcrest.

Lapse in my memory that I forgot about the guys in Stromgarde or Capitol City. Makes a lot of sense that they're a sleeper cell.
Maybe the same with the former Alteracis in Southshore that Alric was dealing with and who stabbed Beric - Colonel Kavdan and Sergeant Benedict?

>Sergeant Benedict
Benedict is a large man with grey short hair and a burly moustache who previously served Kavdan. Now serving Alric Perenolde as a sergeant within his military. He is a thug through and through.
Uh oh. We now got a guy to investigate as part of Falconcrest's entrance.
>>
>>6422025
No worries. Its a lot of strings to keep track of. Good opportunity to refresh my self as well.

>former Alteracis in Southshore
Hmm could be. There was a lot of Syndicate action in Southshore. Dream Dust dealer warlocks. Alteracis in the slums is a ripe target. The RD stationed there for them to infiltrate. Reginald didn't trust the local messenger system or even to send it with anyone else but Alric on a boat.

Surely not Benedict! Good ol Sergeant Benedict Arnold, no one would ever question his loyalty lol

“Hold on, fratri… are you planning on killing Aliden!” You asked and raised your voice a bit.

“He has… I don't know how to put it…” Beve started to speak.

“Start from the beginning, why would Eligius and Pai ruin all of this? Why would you even think about killing our brother?” You said and couldn't really believe what she had just told you.

“Lord Creedy has Alicia as his insurance, as his hostage. He loses her and suddenly he is weakest of the three factions. He has everything to lose. If he lashes out at Aliden, Falconcrest will see his opening to take Creedy out. If he lashes out at Falconcrest, Aliden removes Creedy as there's enough bad blood to fill Darrowmere between those two.” Beve told you and continued. “If Creedy is dead, his supporters will flock to Falconcrest who is…”

“Who is what?” You asked.

“He is young, very ambitious and hungry for power. If Falconcrest finds himself to be the strongest, he will deal with Aliden himself.” Beve told you.

“Isn't that your goal? To kill him?” You asked her back.

“Falconcrest cannot be the man who leads the Syndicate. He is too careless, you have seen how he does his operations. I have told him many times to temper his head, but without success.” Beve lamented.

“He nearly killed me with the poison…”

“I know…” Beve whispered back. “But Falconcrest, he can't lead us. His Syndicate would be strong and active, too strong for our neighbours. King Terenas wouldn't wait and he would just send Lord Uther and Silver Hand to destroy Alterac once more.”

“Uther has retired.” You said.

“Wait what? When?” Beve asked.

“In Stormwind, he used the last of his political capital, and chose to retire, leaving things for our generation.” You explained.

“I-I did not know that.”

“I invited him to Dawnholme.” You said.

“You did? But he…”

“Yes, he destroyed Alterac, but Lord Uther is someone whom I can trust. He is a good man.” You told her.

“I will take your word for it then.” Beve said and seemed unsure.

“So it has to be you?” You asked her.

“Perenolde killing a Perenolde, well it wouldn't look like that, he would die in a way that cannot be connected to me. Creedy would stay put as he would still have Alicia, Falconcrest wouldn't dare to act against me.” Beve told you. “I would have the men loyal to Aliden with me, I am a Princess after all, heir to the throne and not some Princeling beyond the mountains… besides…”

“Besides what?” You asked.

Beve shifted a little and pinched the bridge of her nose, it was her from which you had gotten that habit.

“He is my husband.” Beve said and sighed.

“Hold on.”

“Alric…”

“Your husband.”

“Little brother…”

“He tried to poison me and has tried to kill me a couple times since then. He tried to kill Malevus”

“I know!” Beve raised her voice again.

This time it was your turn to pinch the bridge of your nose.

“Alright so let me get this straight. You need the stability and balance from the truce to prevent the Syndicate civil war that seems to have just bad options available. Creedy dying would lead to Falconcrest winning in the end and that would be bad.” You said.

“I know my husband.” Beve said.

“Then why can't Aliden win? Why can't you just deal with Falconcrest somehow?” You asked.

“Because I haven't gotten close to Aliden in over a year. He has surrounded himself with ‘advisors’ and warlocks. We are only communicating through letters that are all opened nowadays.” Beve told you and lamented. “Hence I need the time to get everything ready, to even get close to him. I might be the spymaster of the Syndicate, but even I have my limits and Aliden, he has been needing me less and less lately.”

“And Aliden winning?”

“He would declare himself the King, but unlike Falconcrest he knows how to be careful. He would manage, he would plot and survive.” Beve said.

“But then why kill him? It can't be just warlocks, you have met Eligius and know about Wanz.”

“Because I fear it is either you or him.” Beve replied quickly. “Think about it. Creedy and Falconcrest keep up the balance by being threats against him, if they are gone who will remain? You.”

“And you as well.”

“He knows I would side with you in a heartbeat. He knows… how much I love my little brother, more than I do him.” Beve said and swallowed. “He would find a way to get rid of me.”

“Beve…”

>>
>>6422234

“Alric, you would be the only threat remaining and I have seen your town. Dawnholme is a beautiful place, but unless you can somehow conjure together ten times the men you have right now, you have no chance of winning.” Beve told you and continued. “The Syndicate is strong if united, but if we are splintered like we are right now that just benefits all of us. You and me.”

“What if I were to kill him?” You asked. “Would they follow me then?”

“Creedy is loyal to himself first and foremost. He was our father's friend, but unless he had his leverage I don't see it.” Beve said.

“I am not going to give Alicia to her, or anyone else. Falconcrest?” You asked.

“He… he would bend his knee, but the moment you turn your back towards him, the daggers would be out.” Beve said and continued. “He is a complex person.”

“But you married him?”

“I do love him… I am sorry. We all have our weaknesses.” Beve lamented.

“What of the rest? The Alteracis, normal people, small folk?”

“Many would follow you and the longer you gather your strength, more likely that would be.” Beve said and continued. “But do we have the time? Most likely not. I would love to go through everything in more detail, but…”

“You are not supposed to be here in the first place.” You said.

Beve nodded and frowned.

“We will manage, I am resourceful if needed.” She said.

So much new information taken in at the same time. How much more does Beve know that she doesn't think is important right now? How much is there that she doesn't know or she has flawed info. You knew you could trust her that is for sure, but you also knew it would take you several days to digest all of this.

Congrats Medivh

>If she thinks Eligius and Pai would ruin her plans, why didn't she stop them?
>What would she do if you were to kill Falconcrest, her husband?

"What if I kill Aliden and hand leadership of the Syndicate to you?" Seems like it would solve most of these problems. Aside from ya know, Creedy being alive.

So theres a lot of distance between Aliden and Beve right now, but she still has a plan of how to kill Aliden and then take over his faction.

>Could she prop Creedy up or take over his faction to keep up the balance.

What would it take? I bet she knows where Creedy hides out, how many of his men would have to die to keep his death buried. Who his important officers are and their duties. Which ones can be bought, and which ones need to be replaced. She wears one veil already, whats another on top of it.

What happens if theres no plan around the aftermath of the Eligius and Pai mission? Beve says its civil war. So either make a plan that doesn't result in civil war, ask Alric to grow wings, or for something he can give to Eligius and Pai to stop them.

I'd go for the other options as well afterwards but hey whatever flows.

>In one year you will be officially in the Alliance, the Syndicate can't stand against the full might of the Lordaeron.
I mean thats the plan at least. It would be fun to see Thrall clear out Alterac, I just have a hard time imagining how that works out. I suppose times could be so chaotic that no one wants to leave themselves open.

>Beve should know about the orcs, they are on the move and planning on hitting the Internment Camps.

>Other, write in
Does she know that the Warlocks tried to make a Fel Pool in Durnholde Hills. It would have been their own personal army if they could control its fel juiced up warlord gnoll and the gnoll warlocks. But it could have blown up the camps which would be very much against current Syndicate goals. Might be useful info for her.

Maybe you could keep the telling her about the orcs planning to hit the Camps as an option for next update. I'd want to think on it some more but I have a few errands to run. More info can only help her I'd imagine. Plus its a significant thing considering their family history as Perenoldes. She could plan around the tremendous chaos of Thrall's liberation plan distracting people.

>but unless you can somehow conjure together ten times the men you have right now, you have no chance of winning.

We are able to remind Alliance that Syndicate control Andorhal, Strahnbrad and more with testimony from Raleigh to give a counter threat. Especially when the Alliance Naval Base that everyone is paying into within Hillsbrad might be jeopardised.. and then internment camps.

I don't think the implied threat is realistic, but a war of assassins definitely is a problem.

I don't know about tipping our hand, but Falconcrest has tried with us already..
>What would she do if you were to kill Falconcrest, her husband?
Will she retire to a country estate with her FC?
>Could she prop Creedy up or take over his faction to keep up the balance.
Let the bad blood continue?
>Beve should know about the orcs, they are on the move and planning on hitting the Internment Camps.
Do not mention Alric's meetings, but mention that one has already escaped which may be the start of many.
>>
>>6422337
Back from errands.

Well they do have a shit ton of soldiers building up Strahnbrad and making real walls and gates. Just from a purely military perspective how many troops do you want to siege and assault a city with walls. At the same time a number of Keeps from which the enemy will probably be doing their best to hit your supply lines, which are also in danger of the ogres and orcs in Alterac.

So 10x might not be that much of an exaggeration to engage in actual warfare with the Creedy and the Syndicate as things stand? Plus assassin shenanigans.

You make a good point about just telling the Alliance to look into it. I don't know how much Raleigh personally has seen tho, we usually keep him out of the loop. So his testimony is that Alric told him so and so? Which still prompts the Alliance to send people to start their own investigation.

Silver Hand and whatever spare real military they have is busy up north killing trolls. The RD of north Lordaeron has been reassigned to work the orc camps to save money. So every force available might take a while before they can send anything down. Unless they raise more troops but no one wants to pay more taxes.

Plus whatever the Syndicate will do to delay or subvert the investigation, espionage is their strength after all. I would probably put telling the Alliance to send their army as part of us being part of the Alliance. Once we are in they have to take our words more seriously as an actual voting monarch.

That said if we include the RD in Southshore with Reginald they've got about 350~ troops. We have our 200~ and more like 350~ with our vassals and allies. Durnholde would be another chunk depending on how much survives to that point. Another 200~ from the Stonemason mercs if we had the cash and supplies.

Thats damn near 1000 or so troops that if she considers us as being able to rally those Alliance forces and neighbors we would be about half way to her estimate before mercs and favors from someone like Kael and Jaina and Katrana.

Update is for the most part done, but won't be finished today. Time is running short and there’s an opportunity for Alric to ask something specific from Beve, be it information or something she should do.

Ask if she could look into the Cousin Perenolde that Gilneas is supposedly keeping. Any info she can find would probably be the best thing we can get to undermine Greymane in the next King's Meeting.

Some other stuff I was thinking about
Give Legace more resources and protection. Her last letter came a bit too late to help.
Kel'Thuzad, if hes disappeared maybe hes gone into hiding with criminals or shady nobles

Where will the S attack when the truce is up/Plan for Stromgarde
Aliden's base
The Warlock Base
Names of known spies around us

Alric's birth mother?

Have Arthas killed, lol
Have Garithos killed, a bit more doable I'd imagine
>>
>>6422774
Names of known spies around us would probably be the most immediately useful. Grab them, interrogate, gift them to X for their own investigations, turn them if possible like Pai. But theres a decent chance she just doesn't know about the ones that aren't Syndicate.

Maybe a ring that could detect poison lol

It would be nice if there was another way to cooperate with Beve. Legace is pretty much our only contact and we can't even trade with her anymore.

Beve backs the resume of any agents she recruits, funnel some agents into the Syndicate who would be loyal to us and do what Beve asks of them. Probably some of the Nalice dragonspawn agents. That could gather some really solid intelligence from inside, her letters keep getting opened so she probably could use some non-syndicate aligned agents anyways. You can't get that kind of info without years of investment. Nalice would be proud. I might change to this one unless Medivh says its a no go.
>>
>>6422692
Knowing if there are spies here or in our lands. And also our cousin, yeah.

Lots that could be asked, but the big one for me is "give us a hug wouldya?"

Also all these teleportations mean that Alric seriously has to up his game on Detect Magic. Having run all the time, no exceptions.

“I do need to ask as everything hinges on Eligius and Pai succeeding or not succeeding, why didn't you stop them?” You asked her and continued. “You must have met them.”

“I did meet them.” Beve replied.

“And?”

“They are your servants, I realised that without killing them I couldn't stop them.” Beve said and sighed. “I was very close to doing it, but… that would have cost you your own spymaster.”

“That is considerable.” You said to her. “How are they?”

“Eligius, he seemed ready to defend Pai which I find astonishing. I know her by her reputation, who would defend her?” Beve mused.

“I have found her useful.” You replied.

“Creedy should have had her assassinated, we have rules in the Syndicate, things to follow.” How Beve said it made you feel like she takes her role rather seriously before continuing. “They are pretending to be a married couple. I had them followed very thoroughly, they play the part even if Eligius looks very annoyed about it. And as we both know how Pai operates and handles his men, she either failed at seducing him or…”

“Or what?” You had to ask.

Beve raised her eyebrows and gave you the knowing look that hinted at her intent.

“No… no way…” You caught on.

“You spymaster, he probably is not into women.” Beve said.

“That can't… hold on…” You said as whatever had happened between Eligius and the witches came to your mind. “No way, is he really…”

“Into men? Yes, rather likely. That would be the easiest explanation and often the easiest ones are the correct ones.” Beve told you.

Well that would be a revelation if one, but it was also awfully irrelevant currently.

“Him being a homosexual must not be the reason you didn't kill them?” You asked and waved the idea away.

“It was loyalty, such loyalty should be rewarded and not taken away.” She said. “I couldn't do that to you.”

“Thank you, I would now feel slightly bad if I had killed Falconcrest.” You replied. “Knowing who he is to you. You need to tell him to stop and I can’t promise that I or someone else doesn't kill him the next time he interrupts our meeting.”

“I will let him know, he just…”

“Does what he wants, Malevus laments about that often when it comes to me.” You said and chuckled. “Just tell him to be careful, I wouldn't want to kill the husband of my sister.”

You waved this away as well before continuing.

“What if I manage to get into a situation where I could kill Aliden? Wouldn't that allow you to take control of the Syndicate?” You asked her.

“Maybe, but you wouldn't get anywhere close to him. If I can't get close to him that easily, then for you it is just a dream.”

“What if helping to prop up Creedy? If Alicia is rescued, propping him up maybe could temper him?” You asked next. “If he realises that you are lending him your support, he might stand down?”

1/2
>>
>>6423273

“Or refuse it, why should I help him? But that is not a bad idea and it is something I have considered. I need to put more thought to it.” Beve replied.

“It would be better than the alternatives, you are right about that I don't have the men right now, but in one year I will be in the Alliance and then I will have more men than what Aliden or anyone else could put on the field.” You told her and continued. “It would be in their benefit if they were to help me.”

“Alric, do not be so sure. Would Stromgarde or Gilneas help you?” Beve said and asked.

“Them probably not, but King Terenas would. Prince Kael’thas would. I have friends, I haven't just sat on my hands in the past two years.” You replied.

Beve faintly smiled and spoke.

“I know Alric, I know.” She said. “My time is running short, I can't stay much longer.”

You looked at your sister and thought to ask something very quickly from her.

“I know there are spies here in Dawnholme, Syndicate spies. Do you know who they are?” You asked her.

“I do. I do know them.” Beve said. “I have someone here, no one whom you would know, no one important.”

“I won't go searching for him then.” You replied. “Anyone else?”

“You removed the Dream Dust ring and we lost a lot of eyes and ears. Creedy probably hasn't replaced his spies yet that he lost.” She told you and continued. “Aliden must have someone here, but I don't know who it could be.”

“Damn it, so he must know what I am doing here…” You muttered to yourself.

“There is one more, Falconcrest has his own man in Dawnholme.” Beve said and got serious as her tone got lower. “You know him.”

“I know him? Well shit, who is it then?” You asked as you had no idea whom she was talking about.

“Sir Gravis of Knott.” Beve said very matter of factly.

DUN DUN DUNNNNN

I wonder if he just sends letters through a messenger or if his courtesan is his handler. If the rest of his knights are also in on it.

Should have talked to him when he looked like he wanted to say something after the marriage arrangement. Probably could have taken more trust building options which are usually secret sharing options, which is rather ironic. But thats in the past. I'm sure he had orders to keep Alric alive and so on.

Probably won't kill him burning the handy Durnholde vassalage package, and I don't think Alric will want to let things stand as they are. So confronting him in private to hammer things out, perhaps a private sparring lesson to hit each other a bit and let the bad feelings out. Malevus will be there to heal.

>Write in
I'll confront him in private. A sparring match. I'll have his loyalty going forward or his life, he knows what happens to spies who are caught.

Also could probably do a little thing of following where his letters go since his reports on Alric probably go all the way to the top, to Falconcrest. Possibly exposing contacts in Durnholde if his letters go there as well.
>>
>>6423274
Well fuck
>>
>>6423300
Indeed. A tragic betrayal of trust, was it going on from the start? Did he clutch his bandana during the latest Durnholde Campaign assassination attempt? What did he promise in reward for such service? Like asking a cheating lover when it all started lol.

Anyways I will ask for my fellows support on this, I doubt we want to execute him. Or isolate him and his knights from meetings in a very obvious way, nor let things stand. So I think a dramatic confrontation, in private, should do. Beat the treachery out of him and maybe hug it out over Gravis's sob story.

Too bad Gravis is too old to be Falconcrest's bastard son or something lol

Well. This is certainly bad.

>>6423297
This Anon has the right of it in that we should confront Gravis personally about it, but I feel keeping him around sets a bad precedent; if more people learn of his treachery and of our leniency, it'll cause more people under our command to think about double-dealing. I say we confront him, learn what we can, and then exile him. He might go and start working for Falconcrest full time, but since we seem to be slowly ending hostilities with him, I don't think that would be too terrible.
>>
>>6423315
I don't think it really sets a precedent when we resolve this in secret, but I get it. This is going to be our little secret. Its not like the Syndicate want to broadcast that one of their undercover agents went rogue either.

Its also I'd say generally a death sentence for a Syndicate to fail his mission and get caught while also compromising who knows what when we was exposed. 'He must have talked to get exile, interrogate him and then kill him.'

Hes going to get married to the daughter of our Vassal, and hes also the father of Lady Imswitt's child. So I'd sooner not throw him to the falcons as it were. lol

Alric believes in second chances. Gravis here, once Alric roughs him up a bit in a spar that will be both physical and emotional, will be a prime candidate.

Also I'm going off the presumption he was already working for Falconcrest when we was in Durnholde, because lets face it who the fuck isn't apparently. That place is so bugged you should be calling for Dalaran's Strongest Pest Control. It would have been even worse if that awful coalition force had gone there instead of the mercs we guilt tripped Katrana into.

Indeed, they get the rope. Maybe if he could have gotten all the coin back. Maybe if Malevus had been walking around in tighter pantaloons that day, or Nalice some manner of riding dress with jewelry that brings out her eyes had she been around, Alric might have had a shred of mercy in his heart.

Maybe its time for another set of tattoos for Alric. Chest and hands are covered. Something to improve his magic detection senses and sight against the next teleporting assassin. Or illusions.

Would there be any benefit to Nalice's human form having dragon tattoos? I suppose it benefits from having a staff and enchanted clothing. Whatever else of her stuff shes getting from Stormwind.

We got knotted. Its over.

I say we first gather concrete proof of hes betrayal through nalice to get whoever is hes handler or anyone else in on this. Then confront him in private. Depending on what he says then we decide what to do with him. Could just keep him as a double agent. Let them think they still got a man on the inside no need to infilitrate another if you already got one. could also feed false info to falconcrest that way. And if we dont like what he says. Just hang him pubicly as a warning/intimidation. Exile seems a bit too soft. If were going that route were losing him anyway might aswell go hard.

>>6423567
Even a 0.1 wealth lost is too much for alrics heart to bear.
>>
Tragic fight incoming...?
>>
I'm not sure about revealing that we know yet, if Falconcrest knows that we know he might just kill him, and we don't know what Gravis himself might do if he's outed.
>>
>>6423676
I would kill someone to have a double agent, I'm confident we can win him over once its clear we know.

I would love a double agent for info. For instance we know Falconcrest, but we have absolutely no info on any of his lieutenants which would be who I would target to cause disruptions or in retaliation. If Faloncrest thinks he can do something and not suffer consequences then he will do it. We treat him like hes mirror Alric, where the most real restriction is the consequence of his actions on his subordinates, his projects and money.

Also Falconcrest is a bit too tricky to kill anyways with several flavors of magic items on him at all times and a readiness to nope the fuck out. Plus it would make Beve sad which will make Alric very sad. When he gets too sad thats when Felric wins...

>>6423796
Ask yourself if you think Alric will let this continue as stands. His most personal bodyguard whose life he saved, whose life he trusted to him, whose future as a nobleman he secured with that Imswit daughter marriage. This whole time he has been a spy working for Falconcrest, since he was in Durnholde or did it happen after he started working for us.

I am sure Alric would not let this continue, to have an enemy spy as his most personal bodyguard to himself and Malevus. The alternative is to let him go about having access to the most secure of areas and documents and meetings. The second he gets treated any different than normal it will be noticed by him or his handler. Move decisively. Confront him in private with a sparring match and let their feelings out.
>>
“Sir Gravis? Are you sure?” You immediately asked. “Nah, that can't be right.”

“Gravis joined the Syndicate nearly five years ago and was trained as a spy and as an agent. It was his mission to infiltrate Durnholde and get close to Lord Blackmoore.” Beve told you and continued. “If an opportunity rises, he would try to join someone more important and similarly attach himself to them.”

“I can’t believe this, we have fought side by side. He is the head of my knights and bodyguards.” You said. “If he had wanted to kill me, he could have done that a hundred times already.”

“His orders are to collect information and see that people the Syndicate sees important are followed or kept in check. Lord Blackmoore was one of such people.” Beve explained. “And with Durnholde falling under the area of responsibility of Lord Falconcrest, Gravis was under his care.”

“I…”

“I am sorry to be the one telling you this, but he is one of ours.” Beve said as she put her hand on your shoulder and looked into your eyes. “We have people like him stationed elsewhere, waiting for the command to act if needed, staying low and making sure the Syndicate and its interests are taken care of.”

You heard a door open somewhere in the house.

“I need to go, this won't be the last time we will see each other. Do not tell anyone about this or about me, you understand?” Beve said and let go of you. Her eyes started to glow purple as arcane ran through her. “Stay safe little brother.”

“Wait!” You could just say as in a blink of an eye Beve was gone with just faint electricity lingering in the air.

You had tried to reach out for her, but your hand found empty air where she had been standing. The spell was something you recognised, it was the Blink. Quick short distance teleportation to get out of places and to avoid danger.

The door to your study opened and out stepped a very groggy looking Malevus, she carried a candle as she gently made her way down the stairs. Based on her chemise and messy hair, she had just woken up.

“Did you talk to someone?” She mumbled. “I could swear I heard something…”

“It was just Lady Nalice, we spoke about the earlier.” You lied quickly. “Why aren't you sleeping?”

“Restroom…” She mumbled back as she walked past you. “Go to bed…”

“You are right, it is late.” You said to her as she disappeared downstairs.

Sir Gravid was a Syndicate agent. After everything you had done to that man, the trust that had been built, this hurt you a lot.

How could he have broken your trust like this?

You were already in your bed as Malevus returned. She carefully slipped out of the chemise and got underneath the blanket, finding a comfortable spot next to you before giving your cheek a slight kiss.

“Good night Alric, may the Holy Light protect you in your sleep.” She mumbled. “Tomorrow is a long day, you better sleep.”

“True.” You replied and returned the kiss.

Malevus gently hugged you and you could hear her steady breathing. The scent of raspberries of her hair filled your mind and if normally that and feeling her skin on your skin would be enough to get you relaxed, now your mind was just restless. And Malevus noticed it.

“Something is bothering you?” She asked as she shifted a bit to look better into your eyes.

“In fact yes.” You said to her as you continued to stare at the ceiling.

“Whatever it is, I am by your side. We will get through it together.” She said to you. “But if you feel uncomfortable speaking about it, I understand that as well.”

You looked at her and saw her slight smile. Her hand found yours and squeezed it gently. You sighed, you really are the luckiest man in the world to have Malevus by your side.

I see Beve failed to mention Foecourt being another Syndicate agent around, so I suppose that will just have to be a name we get from Gravis.

Still would have liked info on the Cousin

>There would be no benefit for Nalice.
You are incorrect sir, the benefit is that it would look good

Ya know I wouldn't usually call any option a 'trap' but if its not Alric's secrets Malevus can't keep it to save that bountiful behind of hers. She lasted what? Less than a day with Nalice's shapeshifting into Alric? Why would the Alric thats knows this ever consider this.

Could be theres a chain of events where Malevus looks at Gravis and he just knows hes caught, he confesses to Malevus and Alric, and help people remember that Alric is supposed to be all about second chances. Not second chances unless he doesn't feel like it, but fortunately it doesn't sound like Gravis has stolen any wealth lol.

>Other, write in
Gravis is a spy for Falconcrest, before he came here. Tomorrow I will invite him out for a private spar and confront him. I'll want you there.

Does anyone really doubt it? 555 Come on now. Or doubt that when push comes to shove Alric will be able to take his loyalty in an exchange of words and steel? I don't need to drag it out give me the emotional confrontation so we can start Gravis's new life as a double agent. Then we can FINALLY learn that Foecourt is also a spy.

I do find it funny that almost every conceivable interruption has to happen to delay the Town Hall meeting just another another day. At least it might make more time for private talks with important vassals and allies.

Durnholde is heavily populated by spies.
>>
>>6424064
It would make a great setup for a Comedy movie or play. A Knight arrives only to stumble into the revelation that in fact everyone working in Durnholde is a spy. From the lowest camp hand to the officers and concubine of the Lord. Every kingdom, the Church, the mages, orc-sympathizers, orc-haters, criminal organizations that want them for slave labor or fighting pits, you name it.

His meals get spilled and switched like 20 times while they are trying to poison him that he ends up eating oats with the horses. The tavern wench he was courting turns out to be an agent in a wig. Something something he stumbles his way into saving the camp.

Sir gravid...its so knotted.

>There’s proof that Sir Gravis might be a Syndicate agent and a spy. You need to work on this info more.
>>
I must ask what extra preparation could be needed. Beve is confident enough to say hes been working for the Syndicate for 5 years. I doubt we find any information that will make the confrontation easier.

How many more seasons of feeding Falconcrest our operations and who we are hiring do we need to allow for this. If he or his handler ever suspect hes been found out what are the odds we lose that chance, so you can't even keep him out of the loop.

Whatever background he fed to Durnholde was probably made up intermixed with dead people who can't confirm or deny how he actually got his knighthood. An origin that is far away and just ambiguous enough to be annoying to check out. Much like Foecourt.

Lets say we do poke around his letters, we risk spooking his handler and the chance to be a double agent is gone when he or she leaves. Same if we have to grab the handler to confirm it beyond a doubt.

Take the initiative so we can work this out. We beat him in an emotional spar and give him his second chance so we can have our double agent now.

>You think Eligius is gay.

Is the concept of asexuality foreign in this version of the Warcraft world? I mean I don't think that's the case for Eligius but I did notice that when someone is shown to not like women homosexuality is the immediate assumption.
Personaly I think Eligius might have a form of autism or something.
>>
>>6424238
It likely looks strange to someone like Beve (who knows Pai's skills and past but knows nothing of the new Pai), and Alric never really put much thought into Eligius's personal stuff, really. Like, Alric doesn't know much of what the witches did with Eligius, and for that matter, Eligius doesn't want to say anything about that event lol. I think Beve would expect a spymaster not to have issues getting with women, but Eligius is hardly what you can call a typical spymaster. He doesn't even hate being a scribe, and doesn't like danger.

Eligius really doesn't like/trust people touching him (he reacted with some fear and aversion to Pai touching him intimately, from what I recall), and he is, well, a quiet and serious kind of person. We learned more about him in previous threads with his PoV.

Tabletop session canceled due to bad weather, and it seems people don't want to have the duel in the morning which baffles me. Double RIP.

From how Eligius described his personal history he became the apprentice of his warlock master at a fairly young age, separating him from his parents, and they went on to live as basically hermits even unto the teacher dying from a fever or some such in the Strahnbrad Hills area.

Could he have gone down to find some medicine in a town, or pumped him with a little bit of fel for vitality to try and keep him alive till he gets back, if they were not so stubborn.

What does that kind of isolation, and training to avoid people for his own safety and theirs, do to a man. How he regards most people and himself. Requiring extraordinary circumstances to overcome that barrier like fighting to save his life which both Alric and Pai have done. Although in Pai's case Beve wasn't going to kill them but it certainly seemed like it at the time.

Maybe Pai needs to mix in a bit of motherly charm or something lol.

“I have proof… there’s a suspicion that Sir Gravis is a Syndicate agent.” You said to Malevus and looked back at the ceiling.

“Sir Gravis? But he is so…” Malevus started to say, but you interrupted her.

“Loyal? Always by my side? Trusted with secrets?” You said and continued. “What else would an agent want to be described as?”

Malevus didn't reply immediately and instead she just kissed and hugged you tightly.

“Now I know why he kept interrupting us so often…” She lamented.

“That's a good point. I didn't think about that.” You replied and chuckled.

“Or he is a pervert.” She continued.

“Says the one reading those steady romance novels.”

“They are high literature!” She defended herself.

“A fit for a High Elf then?”

The two of you burst laughing until you took a deep breath.

“Gravis… what shall I do with you…” You muttered.

“Does he know that you know?” Malevus asked.

“No.”

“Then you have the time to think about this.” She suggested.

“Yeah, but I don't want to let this thing hang. I want this resolved.” You replied and continued. “Maybe I will duel him and get the answers that way out of him.”

“You can't duel yourself out of every obstacle you face!” She now laughed again.

“I am Prince Alric Perenolde, of course I can!”

The two of you laughed a bit more again.

“Thank you, I feel like a knot has unravelled in my mind.” You said to her and kissed her.

“You still can't duel him.” She kissed you back.

Of course you could, but you didn't say that as her kiss led into another and then another. The worries were forgotten as for a moment the world was just you and her.

It was overcast when you stepped outside your home. The peasants were really lucky to have finished their harvest and gotten most of the work ready just before the autumn weather would roll over them.

“Good morning Prince Alric, it looks like it could rain.” Sir Gravis greeted you.

“Good morning Sir Gravis.” You greeted him back and kept your cool. “And yes, it does feel like it could rain. Shall we go?”

“Of course, the rest of the officers and guests are already waiting for you.” He said and you nodded to it.

The walk through Dawnholme felt awkward to you, but you chose not to react at all. Malevus had smartly decided to take a detour and check some of the patients, she knew her ability to lie was really bad and played herself out of the picture this way.

“Good morning my Prince.” Beckston greeted you outside the town hall.

“Good morning Lieutenant.” You greeted him.

“We have all the men available around the town and on a look out.” Beckston told you.

“Good, very good. You shall take the charge here and… have Sir Gravis join you. The knights could prove useful if something was to happen.” You said to them.

>>
>>6424290

“That sounds splendid, I am not a big fan of stuffy meetings at all.” Beckston said and grinned. “Let's go Sir Gravis.”

That was easy, now he wouldn't be around listening about your plans or anything else. It made sense to keep the knights on horseback and ready to act on a moment's notice after all.

Inside the town hall in the meeting hall everyone else was already waiting just like Gravis had told you. There was a chorus of nods as you sat down and looked at all of them.

“Right, let's not waste any time and allow Syndicate agents to ruin our perfectly cromulent meeting again.” You said to them. “Now where shall we begin?”

“What of the Alliance?” Taretha asked and helped you to pick the topic.

“That’s a good question, as you all know quite a lot happened in Stormwind City.” You said to them.

“And that is an understatement of the day.” Normand replied.

“So I am not going to go deep into the details, for example how many individual stones were in the walls of my cell.” You said to them. “I had the time to count them.”

“Prince Alric, what is the number?” Radan asked.

“One hundred and seven, they were quite large.” You said and got a couple chuckles out of the people in the room. “Right, let’s not get carried away.”

You went over the events in Stormwind, how everything evolved and went from event to event. While your officers and others knew the main points, it did help them to hear about everything else in a bit more detail.

>6
>6

“The traders from Stormwind City are most interested in trading with us, but right now they are concentrating on the local markets and can’t pursue any proper deals with us.” Beric lamented. “It was a proper shitshow over there so I am not blaming them.”

“They are willing, but…” You said.

“Reconstruction efforts are taking their attention.” Beric shrugged.

That was unfortunate, but understandable. You couldn’t get immediate benefit from Beric wining and dining with you every day. Or from them seeing you as someone who had tried to help them. But you were quite sure that after they get things sorted out on their own end, they would be more than happy to trade and work with you further.

At this point Malevus had slipped back into the meeting and took her seat. With everyone expect Beckston and Gravis here, it was time to go and talk about some more important business.

“I have shown this map to my officers, but it is very important for you to see it as well.” You said and slid the map you had taken from the ogres across the table. “It is an ogre map, showing their interest in Dawnholme.”

“How did you get this?” Jon Boyd asked as the map went rounds.

“I have my ways.” You gave him a non-answer. “But what is important is that the ogres are again on the move. Have they gotten enough of the Syndicates in Strahnbrad and now are able to look at south again? That I don’t know.”

“We have bolstered our patrols in the woods and at the silver mine in response.” Cromwell said. “But it wouldn’t hurt if we had more towers built across the lands.”

1/2
>>
>>6425263

“It wouldn’t hurt, that is correct.” You said and continued. “The ogres are a constant threat, the kobolds that were shipping the silver into Alterac after all seemed to work for them. And we took that mine and they have tried to get it back. I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried something.”

“And then there’s the orcs.” Normand said.

“Yes, we all know Grom Hellscream moved into Alterac earlier this summer. I don’t know what he is up to, but the orcs are on the move.” You said and sighed.

“Prince Alric, will you take the battle to the ogres?” Garrick Blacksteel asked and stared at you with his coal red eyes.

Going by the ogre map they want to raid Dawnholme as well as the mine.

Unless what we killed with Thrall and Grom was their raiding party lol. A small but strong group to take a herd of cattle or two. Reminds me of King of Dragon Pass, lovely game.

If we can't raid them first then I suppose the next best thing is to have a trap ready. We know the targets, its reasonable they would strike in harvest season because more food and goods will be about.

Unless spring or winter somehow suit them better?

I do wonder if the unhired mages will contribute to a defense of the town while they live here? Once they Stonemason mercs are in town that will be quite a boon to our defense.

Anyway if we wanted a trap maybe Garrick could suggest using those busted ass caravan wagons the last group of dark irons used to get here. Would the ogres take the bait of a rough circle of wagons. Woops! Its all rockets and barrels of oil. Boom!

We're running for broke here, we need to be civmaxxing. Walls, towers, roads, diplomacy and trade.
At least we have a town hall.

The !!!fun!!! can still happen in the background.

“I prefer not to if I can Master Blacksteel.” You said to him and continued. “After the campaign against the gnolls, we need to rest and rebuild most of our military. Having two high pace campaigns in a row would be too big of a task to ask of them.”

Blacksteel nodded back to you and seemed to understand your concerns.

“Master Blacksteel, do you have any suggestions when it comes to the ogres?” You asked him.

The Dark Iron looked at you and then spoke.

“The upper levels of Blackrock Reach are held by the orcs and the ogres. We clash with them regularly and they are fierce warriors, but they obey steel and gunpowder just like everyone else.” Garrick told you and others.

“Well beyond the rockets Master Wiklish here could produce, we don’t have good sources for firearms. Unless we order them from you, from the Dark Irons.” You said to him.

“The ogres are strong, their flesh protects them somewhat from arrows. But blackpowder and lead shot, they won’t stand a chance.” Garrick said and finished.

“Thank you Master Blacksteel, it is true that firearms and rockets are tools that could prove to be really powerful against our foes.” You said and switched topics. “I don’t have more on Alterac, so let’s go through some more local news.”

This discussion went surprisingly long as while not much had happened in Hillsbrad or Durnholde, enough small things had happened that were worth going through. Or at least that is what you had thought, at some point you started to zone out as Lady Edith went through some local small scale trade and Tari went through some numbers she had prepared with Beric.

“Prince Alric, what of the orcs?” Cromwell asked you.

“They are on the move and due to that the Alliance is strengthening the protection of the Internment Camps.” You told them. “Well, the Alliance negotiated with me to provide more protection and I turned to Lady Katrana Prestor to find a solution to this.”

“The mercenaries?” Cromwell asked again, you had told your officers about this, but others might not be that aware.

“Yes, from Stormwind City. They were under Katrana’s employment and as a part of our arrangement, hundred of them are going to arrive here and we will be sent to Durnholde Keep.” You told them.

“What sort of arrangement?” Lady Edith asked.

“Well… let’s just say that Katrana felt that she had wronged me and used my trust, so this is a way for her to repay me back and to keep her leverage alive on the oil deal of ours.” You said to her.

“We need to drill the mercenaries and give them some cloaks and such.” Cromwell said.

“Lord Blackmoore might not appreciate mercenaries being sent there, but if something happens, that's a hundred men that weren’t there before.” You said and shrugged. “I do need to visit Durnholde Keep at some point in the autumn, wouldn’t hurt to escort the mercenaries there and see what is going on.”

“The trade with them has grown, we are attracting more and more new merchants.” Beric told you. “It feeds itself, more trade attracts more traders which makes more trade happen.”

“It might be a time for me to visit Hillsbrad Fields and to see if Magistrate Burnside would be interested in joining Darrowmere League, or at minimum be interested in more trade.” You said and shrugged again. “A lot of small things, but as we know from streams…”

“Become rivers.” Malevus completed you.

“Precicely. We are at a crossroad, this time though others have to come to us.” You said. “Everything needs to be as mutually beneficial as possible.”

There were some nods in the room.

“We are right now rivalling Southshore, we have surpassed them in population. Strahnbrad Hills, Tarren Mill, the Barovs, soon Durnholde and hopefully Hillsbrad Fields join us in trade and security.” You told them. “There’s a lot to do for us.”

Scout Tower 4 W

Military and specialists
-10 Rocket troops, 4 Wealth, 10 Peasants, Upkeep 3 Supply per Season, Requires Krix Wiklish to train them
Will be good against the ogres and kobolds

-Bertrand Reynolds, Occultist, 2 Supplies, Upkeep 1 Supply Per Season
The brilliant but feedback afflicted magic researcher. Hire him and put him on the Anti-Magic Wards research, considering what happened at the Town Hall seems like a good move. Although giving him to Nalice wouldn't be a bad move either if she wants, she is constantly researching this and that. Helping Alric's studies if he can be trusted, could mean access to some very interesting magic he learned from Kel Thuzad.

Thats 38 wealth spent, Income supply back to 1.

-Tissandra of Stratholme, Charm Witch, 2 Wealth, Upkeep 1 Supply Per Season
Since we are going out to do diplomacy I want to buy the services of the Charm Witch with huge tracts of land. Always nice to interact with the new characters. Very handy in and outside of negotiations magic or not. Getting info out of people, calming down Blackmoore from one of his moods over the budget fallout, charming Burnside's wife into telling her husband she would feel safer if Hillsbrad was in the League etc. If we run into any spies we can actually charm info out of them. Alric does have a reputation to maintain as the core to our Blackmoore alliance.

Not to mention if we do end up cashing in our Big Favor with Blackmoore. I doubt he would give money up easily, unless we only want troops.

Bring Nalice to see Annabelle?

Gravis needs to stay home as part of our patrol and fast response cavalry against a raid on the mines. Malevus needs to stay in case a raid happens and people need medical attention. Whatever works. I don't particularly want to put Malevus in front of a crashing out Blackmoore.

Thats 40. Save 3 wealth for the Wiklish fund.

Depending on how much tax money we get
Could buy two more scout towers.
Theres the spider silk for the knights and RFG which would only cost 4 wealth total.
Buying Dark Iron armor for the new knights, plus we could send the other 5 suits to Stonedon as a gift to help settle that issue. 3 Wealth. Bit of a bribe but hey they are just tribal warriors, inspire a desire for glory.

What stops Nalice from flying over Alterac at night and blasting the ogres with dragon fire to put them in their place for a while? Alric getting his turn to ride. Who are the ogres gonna complain to lol. Though it would be funny if they blamed the blackrock orcs or something, thinking that it was the old horde that had access to dragon mounts.
>>
Could be fun to see if the Charm would work on Gravis to confess or give up his handler. Could it be done without his knowledge like hypnosis.
>>
To prepare for this you had asked your officers and advisors to make suggestions beforehand. A lot of them were rather reasonable, but there were a couple that did raise your eyebrows a bit.

“Stein suggests walls to be built?” You asked as you went through the papers.

“To protect Dawnholme and to keep track of who comes in and goes out.” Cromwell explained the wishes of the Chief of the Guard.

“And if we want to tariff the merchants.” Normand continued.

“Prince Alric, tariffs are fucking awful idea, in one night all the merchants in the realm will hate your ass.” Beric immediately complained.

“Noted and then there’s… an abbey?” You said and looked at Malevus. “You want an abbey to be built here?”

“There’s no place of worship here in Dawnholme, people have to travel to Tarren Mill.” Malevus said and seemed a bit sheepish. “I know it costs a lot of coin, but we have the priest coming and there’s so many who would benefit from being touched by the Holy Light.”

“It is quite an expensive project to undertake. Master Pelija, is an abbey or the walls within your skillset?” You asked.

“We built the Church of the Holy Light.” Master Pelija of the Stonemasons answered proudly.

“I take that as a yes.” You said and chuckled a bit. “But it is expensive, so Malevus my love, please understand that.”

“I know…” She replied and her cheeks got a bit of colour as you showed your affection towards her. “Tari has been going all about the windmills the past few weeks. Just windmills everywhere where they haven’t been built yet. Maybe a bit more useful than… you know, just an abbey.”

“We don’t have the supplies.” Taretha said to everyone. “We either have to buy them or we are going to go into a deep deficit if we are to hire or recruit more men.”

“Taretha is correct, if we are to increase the size of our military, we need the supplies.” Normand said.

“I agree with Miss Foxton.” Cromwell concurred. “And if I may, if we don’t hire more troops, a better coverage of scout towers could give us the warning required if something were to happen.”

The discussion bounced around the table and several points were raised. Outside of Dawnholme and The Headland where the town is located, most of the farms are just your typical small farms built together and working the fields. Without a too big of an investment, they could be improved with each doubling their production. And doing it now after the harvest is over is the best time for it as next year they would make even bigger harvests. There was also an idea to build a proper manor for Chief Ragis from which he could rule over Strahnbrad Hills in Stonedon, it would definitely make him stand out and show everyone who is in charge.

What followed were a number of various other suggestions, taking advantage of the forests in Strahnbrad Hills for example. It was Radan who raised his hand and asked about the firearms. If you wanted to make them yourself, you still needed the facilities to make blackpowder in large scale and then the foundry to forge the billets from which guns themselves are made. Then there was the fact that your stables were full, you either needed to upgrade them here in Dawnholme or build more stables elsewhere if you wanted more cavalry.

QM: I have added the Geared Speed Regulator’s +1 Supply bonus to newly built Windmill’s automatically. Any upgrades to existing buildings replaces the previous ones so Farms that are +1 Supply are replaced with Improved Farms which are +2 Supply. So the gain is not 1+2=3, it is just +2 Supply.

I will most likely let this vote go well into tomorrow so that everyone gets their chance to throw their opinions in. The future Mayor of Dawnholme and the taxes will come later, I have decided that there will be a potential mini-budget meeting in the middle of autumn season for potential additional income.

Find a balance between your economy and how much new troops you want to recruit if any. Going all in with economy is very valid, especially if there's a bit of taxes to come.

Ugh another delay on the taxes, I have things I want to buy and we have waited eons. How about getting most of the taxes now and later we can deal with people who are actively avoiding taxes, intentionally delay paying them with loopholes, any other legitimate issues etc.

Meeting Ragis was rather a setback. Could have talked with absolutely anyone else to ask them to do anything important. Garrick for a Master Smith, Wiklish for his progress on his inventing, Lady Imswit to help with diplomacy. At least the solution is simple to help Ragis, buy the fucking Noble Manor if people want to help him since we spent time checking on him. Its an actual +2 supply, not changing a +1 into a +2.

Then when we get to military and specialists we will have enough for a unit of Rockets, the genius researcher, and Tissandra the Charm Witch without going into supply deficit. Along with 3 wealth for Wiklish, and we all want the new miniaturized gear upgrade.

The ogres are GOING TO ATTACK, lets just bite the bullet and buy a unit of rockets since it will be effective. Unless theres support for a trap plan.

I do feel bad for the priest we invited and he shows up to find no abbey lol. But at this point its either the Town Walls or the Abbey. Unless the taxes come in.

I'd be happy to. We can introduce Nalice to our new mages which should be fun. We didn't actually get to talk with Bertrand so theres that too. Also how Raleigh instantly found that new warlock.

Then we can bring Nalice to Durnholde so she and Annabelle can go over what they know while we have to deal with Blackmoore crashing out.

We ought to tell Nalice that Gravis is an agent being that shes key to our intelligence work. Then when we go to Durnholde they might be able to see who Gravis visits if anyone, since we all know Durnholde is just infested with Syndicate.

Malevus will probably need to stay home so as not to be around Gravis until we resolve this.

“We have to invest in the security of Dawnholme and our lands. Everyone knows about Lord Falconcrest's little stunt and they know we have no real ways of detecting intruders or stopping them before they reach the town.” You told the others. “So I have to take steps to mitigate these threats, be they Syndicate infiltrators or ogres.”

“What have you decided?” Normand asked.

“Master Pelija, we are going to build scout towers into Strahnbrad Hills. We have to be alerted if the trolls make their move, or if someone tries to cross over the Darrowmere River.” You started telling your plan to the Master Mason. “In addition we shall build walls around Dawnholme, three gates to east, west and north.”

“I will have the plans ready in a week Prince Alric.” Pelija replied and nodded. He seemed happy that the Stonemasons would be getting more jobs, especially ones that require working with stone.

“Good, in addition we shall be building a pair of new windmills to ensure our situation with the supplies stays good. I can’t allow any waste on grain.” You told them and then looked at Ragis. “And finally we are going to build a proper manor for Chief Ragis in Stonedon.”

“Excuse me?” Ragis asked and forgot honourifics for a second.

“You are my vassal and Strahnbrad Hills are part of Alterac. It is my duty as your Prince to make sure that people respect you and that you have a proper home to rule from.” You told him and continued. “Your people are Alteracis and I very much intend to take care of them. Because of that half of what we are going to spend here on infrastructure are going to go to Strahnbrad Hills.”

“Thank you my Prince.” Ragis said and bowed deeply. “I do not know how to respond.”

“You don’t need to, just after this is over, make sure that Master Pelija here has the necessary guidance on all the projects on your lands.” You said to him and switched topics. “And that is for the buildings, it should leave us enough in the treasury to tackle any military needs of ours. Captain Cromwell, please continue.”

“Prince Alric, we have recovered from the campaign against the gnolls. The men are ready to fight, but like you said another campaign wouldn’t be optimal. We still need to recruit enough men to replenish the losses and get them all on the same level with the rest.” Cromwell started.

1/2
>>
>>6426825

“How many men did we lose?” You asked.

“Fifty five. That includes those who died and those who retired after getting too badly wounded.” Cromwell said to you. “Approximately one third of the whole army that fought in the campaign.”

“I never realised the number was that high.” Jon Boyd said.

“It would have been higher without you Mr Boyd or Mr Williams.” Cromwell said. “Or Lady Malevus and Madam Martin who performed miracles in saving many lives.”

“It is what we are paid to do.” Boyd replied and Williams just smiled.

“Another thing I need to point out is that according to our allies and friends, they have as well recruited more soldiers. They might be green and unbloodied, but they have more troops than before.” You said and nodded towards Ragis and Monica. “Cromwell, can you go through whatever suggestions the officers have?”

Cromwell had a big list of things from the officers and others alike. Chief of the Guard Stein wanted more City Guards as forty men in a town of four thousand just wasn’t enough. Rover Brothers pointed out that the archers they commanded were quite skilled and deserved that promotion. Beckston had nothing beyond getting the reinforcements to fill up the losses taken. After that it was one big argument from Cromwell to get more Footmen or Pikemen just to have more mass. One lesson from the campaign was that you do need the numbers as very quickly casualties start to stack.

You went through the papers and there was the argument to get the rocket troops or to buy Dark Iron Firelances, but if you aren’t going to bring the fight to the ogres where they are needed, are they so crucial? Most of the arguments presented went down to that you need more men, more mass to be able to challenge any of your neighbours one versus one or to be able to actually patrol your own lands without leaving half of the territory uncovered like you did during the campaign.

Finally there was a note from Normand that he had slipped in which you read. He seemed sceptical of hiring more mages, especially with no campaign in sight. What use would they be if their spells can’t be used against your enemies? There was probably a level of Normand’s usual scepticism when it comes to magic involved, but he was right. The mages are expensive so you should get something out of them if you are to hire them. At least like with the mercenaries, they are there waiting to be hired, the decision doesn’t need to be made immediately.

OKAY I think I got exactly what I want.

Also dang Cromwell we did just get 5 more knights and 10 more footmen, plus a tower over the region that needs it most now. I just see the ogres with a map targeting the mine and Dawnholme and presume they are going to raid at some point soon.

>-10 Pikemen, 1 Wealth, 10 Peasants, Upkeep 1 Supply per Season, Requires Lieutenant Beckston to train them
We already got 10 Footmen and an officer with Raethan. Plus we are going out to do some diplomacy later that will hopefully increase the amount of allied units and patrols by a considerable amount.
>-40 City Guards, 2 Wealth, 40 Peasants, No Upkeep
If theres no one to actually guard the gates and patrol the streets its rather ineffective
>Yes, 55 Peasants
I count 40 losses from the standing units, so I guess that means 15 retired on top of that?

>-Bertrand Reynolds, Occultist, 2 Supplies, Upkeep 1 Supply Per Season
Pure genius researcher. How can Normand see Falconcrest teleport into our base and say we don't need more magic. In any case he will probably be put to work on the Anti-Magic wards.

>-Tissandra of Stratholme, Charm Witch, 2 Wealth, Upkeep 1 Supply Per Season
Charm magic would be very handy for diplomacy, and intrigue. Since we are going to Hillsbrad and especially Durnholde I'd say -very- handy. If Alric managed to pick up some simple charm magic himself that would also be very useful down the road.

We already got 10 footmen with Raethan, so 10 pike for 1 W 1SI
40 City Guard for 2 W
Tiss for 2 W 1 SI
Bert for 2 S 1 SI

4 Wealth, 2 Supply, and 2 Supply Income left. I say once we get to Promotions and Upgrades we sell 1 unit of Supplies and buy 1 unit of Fire Lances for Radan's men since they have experience. IF the ogres are a no-show, we didn't give up any supply income, and if they do show up we have the right weapons. Might be funny if he becomes a Gun Paladin lol.

Maybe we can buy stuff later with tax money to get that ranger promotion, keep Wiklish funded, and various other upgrades.

While I Am thinking on it. Weren't we supposed to tell Beve about the orc activity? I thought we had votes for it in the discussion, or at least to bring it up. Its seems kind of important that she could have an opportunity of knowing chaotic times are ahead to kill their brother, whoever else was in the way, or not to get involved in anything that could get disrupted.
>>
Update will come tomorrow evening, so plenty of voting time remaining. Mostly because the QM is busy carousing and to allow everyone to throw their opinions in.

>>6427058

Not enough votes or I didn't think it would be worth bringing it up. She would notice if the orcs are up to something.

Just wondering would the retired soldiers be willing to go into the City Guard? Might be nice to save on 10 or 15 Peasants. A nice policy for soldiers to fall back on when their career ends. If we include any previous campaigns how many of our retired soldiers are in the city.

Any chance for some kind of Wiklish TM oil powered scout zeppelin? Our terrain would probably merit it. Maybe call it something else, call them weather balloons lol.

One more thing, how do Dark Irons keep their city fed? I'd imagine even Alric knows a bunch of their land is volcanic wasteland. I think Garrick's trade missions are admirable but importing a lot of food would be vulnerable to outside influences. Could be fun to grow mushrooms underground. In the mountain provinces? Hills?

“Chief Stein is right, we don’t have enough City Guards. So we are going to double their numbers here in Dawnholme. It should both free up our soldiers and to ensure that no one gets any funny ideas.” You told everyone. “Make sure that we recruit the new guards from both Stonemasons and those from Underbelly, people will listen if it is one of them telling them to stop mucking around.”

“Good point, I will let him know.” Normand said.

“In addition we will recruit ten more pikemen, it should bring our footmen numbers closer to each other and make our anvil, our center of our formation stronger.” You said.

“Ten pikemen?” Cromwell asked.

“You seem disappointed?”

“I was expecting with the coin being available that we would have hired more soldiers?” Cromwell asked.

“I understand your concern, but with the City Guard number getting increased, that frees up our soldiers and with our allies and friends having recruited more soldiers, our position overall is better.” You said to him and continued. “But… a footman or a pikeman can’t defend itself against magic that well and after yesterday, we are all very aware how easily one can infiltrate and use magic items here in Dawnholme.”

You looked at your trio of mages that were present.

“Mr. Boyd, how has the research on those trinkets you took from the gnolls progressed?” You asked him.

“Well, there has been progress, but it is not much.” Boyd said and looked at Luke. “We have managed to replicate the effect, but it is very temporary and dissipates quickly.”

“Right, we are going to talk with Bertrand Reynolds in a day or two, he might be able to help you if his mind is as brilliant as you told it was.” You said to them.

“He is someone who could actually help us.” Boyd said and Williams nodded.

“Good, wonderful. In addition, we will hire the services of Tissandra of Stratholme.” You said to everyone.

“Her?” Captain Raethan asked, he had been silent till this point.

“What about her?” You asked. “Any objections?”

“No, not at all…” Raethan said back to you.

“I got a solid read on what sort of a person she is and what her skills are. I am sure Lady Tissandra will prove to be a really useful addition to our repertour.” You said back to him and to the others as Normand gave you a look of disapproval.

Oh yes, Prince Alric with all the rumours around him and the women who interact with him, immediately goes and hires the services of the mage with huge tracts of land.

“With that I think we are done with hirings and recruitment. We still have some coin in our treasury and I think we still have a couple things we could spend it on.” You said.

“Or we could save it for the rainy day.” Normand suggested. “How often have we had situations where a coin was needed, but was nowhere to be found?”

Normand was right, but there was equipment available that you could acquire to your men if you were to sell some of your meagre supplies, but it could be very much worth it. Your officers talked and you went through the papers that got you some ideas. The Dark Iron Fire Lances are very potent weapons and given to someone like Sir Radan who has experience with matchlocks, it would turn his men into an incredibly dangerous foe on the battlefield. You also got the picture that Krix Wiklish was rather close at finishing his current project so maybe a small investment would be enough to get him to finish it, whatever it was.

Rover Brothers again pointed out that giving the archers, of which many have been with you since day one, would be a great honour to them and reviving the Alteraci Rangers would be a great sign of how Alterac is actually returning and growing stronger. It did also give you the idea with the offerings from Duskwood. The Giant Spider Poison is supposedly quite potent and if you were to combine that with the Rangers, the enemy wouldn’t know who hit them and then they wouldn’t recognise anything else as the poison does its work.

And the final idea you had would be a gift. You had sent a letter to Dalaran to Master Armoursmith Melondras, he would be willing to repair the old elven plate mail you had found if you were to send it to him. It would be a nice challenge to him, maybe he could even recognise the armour? You didn’t need the armour personally, you already had Aurvan’kal. But for Malevus, elven armour repaired by a legend of his trade. A great gift fit for a paladin, and most importantly it would protect her fair skin from blows. That would be doable.

Total Resources:

Krix Wiklish investments and inventory:
Krix Wiklish can build you the things and gadgets you require, but first he needs some investment. With the goblin attention span being short, you don’t exactly know what you will get when you invest in their work. By giving more Wealth to Krix Wiklish, more potential items and weapons can be purchased.

Investments: 12 Wealth

Elite troops promotions:
>Elite Archers into Alteraci Rangers, 3 Wealth

Alteraci Rangers, best archers and outdoorsmen in Alterac were recruited into this small organisation. Alteraci Rangers patrolled the mountains and hidden passes keeping the Kingdom safe.

Offered armour from Southshore:
>Half-plate, 1 Wealth, lighter and nimbler armour on level of normal footmen armour
>Full-plate, 1 Wealth, better protection than standard armour of footmen
>Knightly plate, 3 Wealth, good protection and suitable for knights on horseback
>Masterwork plate. 5 Wealth, really good protection with good mobility of the lighter armours

Melondras' offerings:
>Melondras’ Masterwork Armour, 10 Wealth, masterwork armour made to fit the user perfectly. The best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be.
>Repairing the Old Elven Plate Mail, 5 Wealth, masterwork armour made to fit the user perfectly. Melondras’ is skilled enough to repair the old armour and make it look like a new one.

Garrick Blacksteel’s offering:
>Masterwork Dark Iron Armour, 5 Wealth, masterwork armour which is heavier than equivalent human plate mail, but provides better protection.
>Dark Iron Arms and Armour, 3 Wealth, well-crafted armour fit for human soldiers that is superior to other armours outside of masterworks. Built in sets of ten.
>Dark Iron Firelances, 5 Wealth, superior long-range jezzails for Handgunners. Very accurate and disregards armour. Built in sets of ten.

Duskwood offerings:
>Spider Web Thread, 2 Wealth. Strong thread to be weaved into gambesons and arming jackets, provides more protection against cuts and blows. Upgrades existing armour. Acquired in sets of ten.
>Giant Spider Poison, 2 Wealth. Strong poison that numbs and confuses the target. Strong against unarmoured. Large creatures need larger doses. Upgrades existing weapons. Acquired in sets of ten.

QM: Apologies, this took a moment to get done. I have added the project to repair the old elven plate mail to the list of possibilities. I need to update the pastebins at some point.

Just going with my gut, I feel like reestablishing the Rangers is probably our best bet for right now, both to keep an eye on the Ogres in case they start making moves, and also to try and root out Syndicate agents in our territory; while the Spider thread armor and spider poison would be nice to have, selling off any of our meager supplies right now seems foolish.

Requesting more info on the Alteraci rangers - is that a 3 wealth promotion for each squad to be promoted? Or is that the cost to establish this tier of troop that would replace the current Elite Archer tier?

Many very tempting options here.
Alterac rangers appears to be the best path forward for border security, military campaigning and national prestige, similar to the Royal Foot Guards.
Speaking of which, if we go with ranger upgrade, then also suggesting Dark Iron Arms & Armour to go for broke.

Wiklish can deliver what he's already got.

Ogres in general arent armored are they? even if it requires a larger dose if the rangers could detect them and skirmish the big fat targets before they get to us. Could be a nice alternative to dealing damage to them before we get our hands on guns or cannons.
As for the rockets they were described more of a morale damage weapon than a pure damage one.

What if we asked the Church to build the abbey lol, that whole never sending a priest hurt the citizens more than it ever did Alric personally. Is there a Church of Light Faction that would answer; Silver Hand, The Old Monastery, elf priests from wc3.

Or Malevus ran a collection for the Abbey and Priest. Give only what you can and all that jazz. If everyone wanted to give their name we can display it somewhere on the building in stone or framed paper.

Its per squad.

Though I don't think Rangers would really want dark iron arms and armor. Shits heavy as hell, metal armor clanking with every step. The spider silk would probably be a nice upgrade, or the poison like other anon wants.

Anyways I'm just looking forward to what I believe was Wiklish's improved Geared Speed Regulator. Unless he got inspired by something else.

“Master Wiklish.” You got the attention of the goblin. “How close are you to finishing your current project?”

“I just need a couple other things done first.” Wiklish said and fixed his monocle. “Been busy with the oil rig you know.”

“I know, and I have been too busy and I haven’t visited you there.” You replied. “Alright, I am willing to give you a bit more funding, but I expect whatever you are making to be finished. I want to see results.”

“Yes Prince Alric, you won’t be disappointed!” Wiklish enthusiastically replied.

“Great, and finally I think it is the time to revive the Alteraci Rangers.” You said to everyone and looked at the Rover Brothers. “Lead them well.”

“Our Pa would be very happy to see this.” Arthur said and smiled.

“He was a ranger before becoming the gamekeeper you know.” Alfred continued.

“I didn’t know that… either way, he will be very happy when he returns.” You said to the brothers and put an emphasis on when, not if.

That was it. Your coffers were again very empty and you had made all the necessary decisions. You sighed and closed a folder holding some papers before looking at your officers and guests present.

“Thank you all for coming, we got a lot done today and to celebrate this, we will have a small feast later this evening in this very same meeting hall.” You said to them. “I know all of you are very busy so I don’t want to keep you here forever so let’s get the fun part of this meeting done as well.”

“Without any Syndicate interruptions?" Lady Edith asked you jokingly.

“Well if Lord Falconcrest happens to come by, he can of course stay for dinner. Just he would have to take his mask off, so I guess we won’t be seeing him.” You said and got a couple chuckles out of the people present. “Right, if you don’t have anything very urgent that can’t wait, we can continue this evening.”

Standing up others followed you. Walking past them, you went outside and took a deep breath of the fresh air. It hadn’t started to rain yet, dark clouds circled above you and you could feel the moisture in the air.

“What shall we do now?” Malevus asked as she joined you.

“Well there’s plenty of different people to talk with, but I guess I have some priorities over the other things.” You said to her. “You know you could join me.”

“I have patients, all sorts of ailments.” Malevus lamented.

“Has the boy been helpful?” You asked and meant Lyman, the boy who had been helping Malevus during the campaign.

“Yes, it is always nice to have a pair of extra hands.” She replied.

“Well I know what my hands are going to do later tonight.” You said to her and grinned.

“A-Alric!” Malevus lamented again. “D-don’t tease me like that in the public…”

You could only laugh at her reaction. You loved her so much.

It did start to rain and people hurried back inside or under some cover. You meanwhile just wondered what tasks you should tackle right now before the feast. There were some things that maybe you should tackle right away.

Choose two:

>Lady Edith Imswit’s presence here has raised some eyebrows. You should maybe talk with her and see where the things are right now in Durnholde.

I am thinking next year another heavy investment in economy and civil construction. And another scout tower. We need more wealth and supplies
>>
>>6427918

It is progressing, if I haven't hinted at it, I would say it is finished before winter is here. After that comes the problem of getting the oil out of Strahnbrad Hills.

>>6427706

Alteraci Rangers is an unique upgrade to Elite Archers, basically making them Elite^2. They are best of the best, just like Royal Foot Guards are the best footmen around. In the game terms they can't be reinforced if they take casualties as they are that rare, but they are more than efficient at avoiding taking the casualties, that is if you don't just throw them at the enemy and wish for the best. If you can raise other troops to Elite status, their unique promotions come available as well and will be revealed.

In lore terms Sylvanas would have to begrudgingly accept that they are pretty alright. Which is a high praise.
>>
>>6427914
I know exactly who I want to talk to.

>Talk with Nalice about Sir Gravis and him being a Syndicate agent. Let her into your plan to duel him.
If I had anyone here that Nalice could look into, maybe the Courtesan that Gravis would always visit in Dawnholme.

>Having hired Reynolds and Tissandra, it would be beneficial if you talked to them again and made sure they knew what they were going to do for you.

I wouldnt mind talking to Lady Imswit either. Kind of surprised she came all the way over here for the seasonal meeting since being sworn to Alric is kind of a secret. I'm sure Blackmoore is volatile from the budget and camp reorganization. The locals must know there will be a lot more orcs in Durnholde lands.

Pretty much all stuff we can predict I think.

Ya know if someone could secure the contract to feed all those new orcs it might be worth a pretty penny.
>>
The more I sit on it the more I think of talking with Lady Imswit. Which reminds me was she the random guest when we rolled for who would show up?

That said it would be nice to actually talk with Reynolds I think we only spoke with the other mages about him. Plus to tell Tissandra that shes basically here to help with diplomacy on our trips. Maybe a little intrigue. Maybe some magic training to see if Alric has an aptitude for it.

Medivh would Charm magic be strong against ogres? I imagined since they are rather dim it would be. If it were combined with the spider venom perhaps a strong combo.

Ok thats pretty good.

Probably gonna open up some options on what to do : Better roads, a river port in Shoredon, Improvements in Stonedon (i would assume maybe we can have some habitation for workers or some warehouses for the Oil Rig there. To me it seems like a large building like this one would inevitably impact/expand further the local economy around it), thinking if we want our own small fleet or have someone else do it. We will probably want to have some fortified earthworks with a palisade around the oil rig too.
>>
>>6427932

Yes, Lady Imswit's presence was based on a roll. It wasn't likely that she could actually come here, you know being a fresh mother and everything.

Her magic could work on ogres, but it is rather likely that she would go from Tissandra to Tissand-splat as the ogres are rather eager to swing their clubs before thinking.

Edit, now with fixed grammar.

Yes I figured. Although it would be a very noble thing to do if she went around showing people she has a male heir and their recognition being important.

I'm unsure of the duel part, but sharing with our pseudo-chamberlain that we have a spy from the enemy is important. Also sharing with her about:

Funny that we caught that Dalaran spy but its still a ??? on the sheet, or it would be if I didn't have my old suspicions

Hopefully we can talk with Lady Imswit or Norman during the feast or after, it would be too much to not talk with her after she came all the way here. She sure is a tough lady. She would make a great diplomat.

Also very neat looking spells on the mages.
Madam Martin sneaking in with Corpse Explosion.
Tissandra. Confuse, Dominate Mind, Soothe.
Bertrand. Paralysis Touch, Silence, Bone Wall, Bone Spear, ???

"Where do the bones for Bone Wall come from?"
"W-w-w-well Prince Alric there are animal bones scattered under a lot of sediment over thousands of years."
"This femur looks very human."
"N-n-n-no your grace! Thats arathi-neanderthalensis. Some say they are the origin of red hair in men, that or elves.

Rattlemebones what could that hidden spell be. In any case I'm hopeful there is willingness to open up a bit to the new mages. Saving them from vanishing in a Kirin Tor prison is a good start at least. If we can get his trust maybe we can find out more about his time with Kel Thuzad.

Both Alric and Bert share having been struck by some serious feedback. Months or years of recovery in Bert's case.

Some ideas we could offer. I wonder if Madam Martin's special blend would help relax his body enough that he could do magic. Maybe some Dark Iron Hookah. Magic solutions like using Tiss's mental magic and the minds effect on the body. Would his own paralysis touch in very small amounts make his hands stop shaking, or some kind of spell that puppets his own body.

Malevus had gone to check the patients and do her tasks as a priest leaving you alone. Sir Gravis and still somewhere doing their rounds with Beckston and other guests were either mingling with each other or had retreated back to where they had been staying. This had left you alone, well you had a pair of Royal Foot Guards following you around just in case.

Some things needed to be handled though and you knew what you would be after first. You found your mages at the home Boyd and Williams were sharing, Madam Martin was somewhere else, but that didn’t matter right now.

“Prince Alric.” Boyd greeted and the mute Williams nodded to you.

“Shall we go meet with Reynolds and Tissandra, I want them to be up to date with the news and the tasks ahead of them.” You asked the two of them.

“Sure, why not. I can lead the way.” Boyd said.

The rain forced you to pull up the hood of your cloak as you made your way through Dawnholme to where the tents were located at its outskirts. The refugees from Underbelly were milling about, apparently enjoying the rain. Which made some strange sense, as rain doesn’t exactly happen in the sewers, but Reynolds you managed to find inside one of the tents and when you entered the tent, you saw him laying on a bedroll.

“Am I interrupting your nap?” You asked him.

Bertrand Reynolds jolted up and pushed himself standing, apparently you had interrupted his nap. You got a good look at the rather average looking man. He was somewhere in his early 40s, but his short hair was already turning grey and you could see how tired he was. And the shaking, you have experienced feedback and know the numbness and shakiness of your hands, but Reynolds wasn’t just having his hands shake, it was his whole body.

“P-Prince P-Perenolde.” He managed to greet you.

His head shook lightly and he had to shift on his feet to not sway around too much.

“You can take a seat if you think that is better.” You said to him.

He nodded and sat down, gripping on the chair to keep himself straight.

“B-ertrand, just c-call me B-Bertrand.” He said to you and nodded to Boyd and Williams who had entered the tent as well. “H-hello to y-you as well.”

“I wanted to talk with you because I have decided to hire your services.” You said to him. He was stammering quite a lot so you decided to be the one talking. “Mr. Boyd and Mr. Williams here are working on some wards based on gnoll designs that we took from them during our campaign. I want to know how they work and if we can replicate the effects. You must have heard about yesterday's unfortunate incident.”

“I-I did.” Bertrand replied.

“I want to avoid that in the future and I truly think that we have what it takes to do that.” You said to him. “And in addition, how others have described you, I truly feel sorry especially now having seen you. Such a brilliant mind, yet…”

“S-shaking l-like…” Bertrand started.

“Hence I want to hire you. To get your mind to work on something, even if your body is doing its utmost to prevent that.” You interrupted and said to him. “Speak with Mr. Boyd and he will get you started.”

Bertrand nodded to you.

“B-better t-than staying i-in the t-ent all the t-time.” He said back to you.

He seemed enthusiastic about the project, or just working on something after Kel’Thuzad escaped from Dalaran. He looked tired, but there was sharpness in his eyes. Maybe it would be worth talking with him in private, or maybe it would be worth waiting some time before prodding him, allowing him to get used to working for you first?

No worries Medivh, hope everything is going well

His Master did leave him in the Underbelly on his own where he was probably going to get disappeared by the Kirin Tor. At the same time he owes a great personal debt to Kel Thuzad for healing him from however very much worse it used to be. I think a fairly gentle approach is warranted.

Alric also got some severe feedback so that could be a good point they could bond over. The worst part was the stairs, or maybe the stares. Though I do miss the cane, I think it was dashing. Maybe we should get this guy a cane, or a nice walking staff.

>No, don’t ask him anything. You need to build a bit of trust first before delving into things more closely.
>Other, write in
Bring him to the house the mages are sharing for a hot meal and drink. Something easy to eat.

See if Boyd and Williams can bring him some of Madam Martin's personal blend. Alric heard of it from Malevus and if it works it works. Probably better than the dark iron hookah. Maybe he might even be able to eat and drink cleanly if the shakes lessen a bit.

“Can you leave us for a minute?” You said to Boyd and Williams.

“Sure.” Boyd replied. “We'll be waiting outside… in the rain.”

Waiting momentarily as they left, you raised your right hand up and opened the palm.

“One more reason I wanted to hire you is this.” You said and a flame appeared above your palm. You felt the warmth of the fire as droplets of your liquid fire fell on your hand and sizzled out.

“Y-you a-are…” Bertrand started to say.

“Yes, I know magic and it is a secret to the wider public.” You said to him and closed your hand, extinguishing the fire. “I have dealt with some lighter feedback, numbness, shaking hands, nothing compared to what you have to go through.”

Bertrand listened closely as you spoke.

“And I can't exactly imagine how I would feel if I had the same condition as you do. Probably quite depressed. So I can't allow your mind to go to waste.” You said. “The work will be a distraction of one kind and if you and the others do a good job, Alterac is ready to help you.”

“P-Prince…” Bertrand started to speak again, but you interrupted him.

“I do expect results and I say that as your Prince, but as your fellow mage I can only wish you well.” You said and stood up.

Bertrand followed and offered his hand. You took it and felt his grip, it had some strength in it.

“T-thank y-uo.” He said.

“Mr. Boyd will come talk with you later.” You said and stepped out of the tent.

Boyd seemed rather miserable in the rain and did his utmost to hide his bandaged right arm underneath his cloak. Apparently it is a pain in the ass to change the bandages, which he has to do if they get wet and he really doesn't like to do it more than once a day.

“I could ask Lady Malevus to look at your arm.” You offered.

“I have tried priests, it doesn't work. Madam Martin has some herbs that help, but that's about it.” Boyd lamented. “Thanks for the offer though.”

“At minimum to know how to change the bandages of yours.” You said.

“I will keep that in mind.”

Tissandra of Stratholme wasn't in the tent village and you were guided to go back into the town. There after several detours, you found a house and after having taken the stairs that were on the outside up to the third floor, you knocked on the door.

“Prince Alric, this is a pleasant surprise.” Captain Raethan said to you as he opened the door.

“Captain? Am I in the right place?” You said and mused.

“Who are you looking for?” He asked. He was just wearing his normal clothes.

“Tissandra, you know her?”

Raethan first turned white as blood escaped his face and then it returned giving him a slight blush. Even his ears drooped a bit.

“Yes… she is here…come inside.” He replied. “Tiss, the Prince wants to talk with you!”

“The Prince?” You heard her voice come from behind a door.

Tiss?

As you stepped inside the apartment, Tissandra opened the door and joined you and by Lord Uther's beard…

Her blond hair was messy and she was wearing just a simple white chemise that loosely hung from her shoulders with two light straps. The chemise did absolutely nothing to hide her shapes and it was at least two feet too short and as she walked you could swear you saw a glimpse of her…

Concentrate Alric! Concentrate on her eyes and not on her… Felfire! Why is she so bountiful! Beautiful, that’s the right term!

“We'll wait outside.” Boyd quickly excused himself and Williams.

“In the rain?” You asked.

“In the rain.” He replied.

“What’s the matter?” Tissandra asked as she took Raethan's arm and made sure to press it against her breasts.

You would find this hilarious if this wasn't clearly working. That chemise by the Light! And Raethan, she must have caught him with her alluring ways. She had after all called him a lovely man and her good Captain earlier when you had met with her.

“I came to tell you that I have decided to hire you into my service.” You managed to say matter of factly.

Tissandra's eyes opened wide with joy as she released Raethan and hugged you suddenly. Her softness! You could feel everything! Think about something else! Malevus! Her ears!

“Thank you thank you!” She said and gave quick kisses to your cheeks before realising what she had done as she quickly let go of you. “Oh I am so sorry, I didn't mean to.”

Yeah right… you have met Pai, you know how this works and she was way more dangerous than

“Don't worry about it… but yes I have decided to hire you and I wanted to come talk with you again to get to know you better.” You said while collecting yourself.

“Ahh, what do you want to know?” Tissandra asked and took Raethan's arm again.

Good on Alric for keeping his cool. There are only two women for him, and this foul enchantress isn't one of them!
>>
>>6429951
Well its good we are easing Bertrand into it. I would have liked to see if Martin's blend would work enough that he can cast magic. Imagine if Alric could learn Silence. Bone wall and Bone Spear lol. I'm not sure what scenario would make Bone Spear the tactically superior choice I must say, maybe if it meant being able to pierce through a good number of enemies?

Titular Tiss, Titanic Tiss, or if the gnomish submarines are armed Torpedo Tiss. Lol. She is powerful in her own way. I like her.

>>6429986
Not interested in asking is she and Raethan are a thing since we rolled for his presence? I'm quite tempted to hear it. Will it make her stance and his apparent, or will it complicate things. On the other hand poking his nose into her personal affairs right off the get-go, even if shes obviously very....Open lol. Not like Alric has much right to judge in public or in private.

Might be funny to ask if she would dress more modestly and act prim and proper. Maybe a lesson from Nalice. A very durable corset and some clothes that would suit a noble lady diplomat. Could make for a stronger impact when she then starts turning up the charm.

Its all very much where would be fun to go with her character and our diplomat focused mage.
>>

>Not interested in asking is she and Raethan are a thing since we rolled for his presence? I'm quite tempted to hear it.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I also want to know about they're relationship, its just asking about it *right now* would be rude.

>Ask if she would dress more modestly and act prim and proper.
Again, we should save that for later; right now, we should just get a basic rundown on her abilities and let her and Raethan get back to fucking.

Shouldnt a rundown of her abilities include asking 'how does it exactly work' option? I want to know more, the better to plan around her. Will she need protection so we end up sending Raethan with her on these diplomatic missions.

Considering her methods maybe he would get in the way or cause an incident if he got jealous so better to keep him here lol? On the other hand hes capable of operating under the radar like in the Underbelly, and I'd imagine as a Corrupt character he could find other Corrupt people if we sent him out and about. Rather agent coded if I look at him that way.

You make some good points. It does bug me a bit tho cause I already took the patient approach with Bertrand lol.

Do these characters even mind these types of questions. Tiss probably not, but I suppose Raethan did seem rather embarrassed to have been found out. Would he feel compelled to stand up to Alric and say Tiss doesn't have to wear more clothes lol.

Heh they seem like it. Eitherway I don't mind knowing about it later on. As of now its a bit sudden, and we probably arrived while they where having fun. A few questions and then we go on our merry way. Giving jobs to both of them should make them happy even if we interrupted (we know how to knock and wait at least- unlike Gravis -_-).

>>6430007
We should more or less do this. In regard to her new work clothing its funny with Alric rep, but it can be something to think about tommorow or some days down the line. She has a "natural" talent.

>>6430024
I think he is just surprised now. We have never seen him out of our Underbelly deals really. Until he joined us in full a few days ago. I say he would be more than fine to have the great mountains covered a tad, if she is going to do diplomatic work lol. Raethan has great taste.

We should probably ask the other charm magic related question too to be fair.

“Shall we sit down and not stand around so awkwardly?” You asked Raethan and Tissandra.

“Not a bad idea, do you want something to drink?” Raethan asked.

“No thank you.” You said with a smile.

The apartment had a very bare amount of furniture and everything looked very new. But the quality of work was astonishing, the Stonemasons didn't do second class quality.

Raethan and you found your chairs and when Tissandra sat down, you could only thank the Light that she crossed her legs. Otherwise it wouldn't have been just a glimpse that you noticed…

“Umm… well…” You started and coughed. “Lady Tissandra, how you have been described to me, makes me think that you are best employed in a diplomatic position. That means in my entourage.”

“Ahh, a diplomatic job.” She mused and seemed rather interested. “Tell me more.”

“I will be straight with you, you are a very beautiful and alluring woman. I know what type of a woman you are and I think your background and skills are going to be very useful in… getting people to talk, to make them happy and malleable.” You said to her and you could see her drop her act a bit. “Now I am not going to ask you to do anything that you would find well beneath your class, there are other women for that sort of tasks, but I would ask you to consider…”

“Prince Alric, I accept! That sounds thrilling! Doesn't it Raethan?” Tissandra asked.

“That sounds like being a spy, am I right?” He asked you.

“A diplomat is one type of a spy, but you are right. I need her to listen and learn.” You said and next spoke to her. “You know the basics of magic?”

“Of course I do, I might have been taught by a bunch of charlatans, but I can defend myself and others.” Tissandra replied and switched her legs around. More than a glimpse!

“Well… umm… you can then defend me as well. Lady Tissandra of Stratholme, in the service of Prince Alric Perenolde.” You said and coughed again.

“Oh I do love the sound of that.” She said and turned to Raethan who was sitting next to him. “You should have told me more about him, we could have come here earlier!”

Raethan was rather bothered and still embarrassed about this whole thing that he just mumbled something.

“But I want to know more about your speciality as you are not a typical mage.” You said. “What exactly can you do or cast?”

“I can make the people around me confused or forgetful. I know how to suggest things to them that they will then do.” Tissandra said and continued. “Or I can make them feel bliss and soothe them.”

“Not exactly throwing a Fireball and burning them alive.” You replied.

“Light forbid no.” Tissandra said and waved your words away. The way she was talking had the tone of professionalism in it.

“But still very effective, in the right circumstances. Can you prevent others from doing the same to you, or to me?” You asked.

1/2
>>
>>6430474

“That would be more difficult, but I do recognise and detect if similar spells are used.” She replied.

Bingo, that was exactly what you wanted. Magic can be awfully powerful in battle, but someone like Tissandra is very useful outside of it. You need protection of all kinds and your mind, well that's probably the most important thing there is.

“That sounds splendid and is exactly what I want.” You said and stood up. “Lady Tissandra, in a few days we will be leaving for Durnholde Keep. You will be joining me.”

“Of course Prince Alric.” Tissandra replied and stood up as well. She tried to go for a hug, but stopped herself after a one step.

“I will leave you two be.” You said to them.

“Let me open the door.” Raethan said.

The elf Captain guided you outside and closed the door behind himself.

“Prince Alric, I did not seriously expect you to hire her.” Raethan said to you. “But it might be good for her, it gives her something to do.”

“You do know what sort of a woman she is? I mean…” You said and gave him a knowing look.

“Oh I know, but you know… sometimes a man needs to brave the danger, for rewards are magnificent.” Raethan replied and grinned.

The rewards are very bountiful huge tracts of land.

“Just don't allow this to take away from your duty, or hers. I am paying good coin for both of you.” You reminded him.

“Of course Prince Alric!” Raethan saluted.

“Now go back inside, those rewards must be waiting for you.” You replied and laughed.

Boyd and Williams had bailed on you as it had started to rain more heavily, leaving you alone with two of your Royal Foot Guards, which both of them you dismissed as you would be going somewhere where you would be really secure.

Lady Nalice’s house was a short distance away from Dawnholme and would be located beyond the walls when they are finished. Normally you don't visit her that often when it is the day, mostly just in the evenings to study magic or she comes to teach you something mundane and normal at your home. Knocking on the door you expected her to come open it, but instead nothing happened and so you just pulled it open and stepped inside.

“Lady Nalice?” You called out. “Are you here?”

There was no answer, but her belongings were still here and a candle was lit. So she was here or maybe…

“Are you here?” You called as you opened the door to the cellar where you practice magic with her.

“Don't. Bother. Me.” You heard Nalice’s voice down there. She sounded very annoyed. “Right. Now.”

Of course you allowed your curiosity to win and you made your way down, finding Nalice wearing her mage robes lying on her back, hands and legs wide, on the sand of the floor. She was surrounded by faintly glowing glyphs on the walls that normally kept the magic from leaking out.

“What are you doing?” You asked as you had never seen anything like this before.

“Don't. Speak.” Nalice said and continued. “Go. Away. You. Are. Ruining. The. Silence.”

“Silence?” You asked and got her to open her eyes and glance at you.

“I. Have. An. Headache.” Nalice replied and closed her eyes again.

Oh right, now this makes more sense. The cellar was a quiet place and here she could stay without anyone interrupting her. Nalice most definitely wasn't doing well by the way she spoke, it must be a splitting headache. Something you have felt when you have drunk too much and not have had enough water.

Water! That must be the answer, she needs to drink more water. Dragon might sometimes forget the needs of her human form. Or maybe you should just leave her alone.

Choose one:
>Do as she tells you and leave her alone. Nalice knows what is best for her.
>She needs some help and you know exactly someone who can help her. Malevus, she must have handled hundreds of headaches by now knowing how much other Alteracis drink.
>You can probably tend to her, even if against her will. She must have just forgotten to drink water.
>Lay down next to your lover and join her in enjoying the silence. If it works for her, it probably is enjoyable to you.
>Other, write in

Happy Midsummer! I have some thoughts on the options so I'll just throw it all down and see what comes of it.

>She needs some help and you know exactly someone who can help her. Malevus, she must have handled hundreds of headaches by now knowing how much other Alteracis drink.
Theres not a lot of opportunity for Nalice and Malevus to talk and improve their relationship after that whole Stormwind Arc, which was some nice teamwork. I'm sure there are ways they could work together in future, or things for Malevus to learn. If they bonded maybe they could all share one big bed lol, no more pesky rule.
>Other, write in
Perhaps a nice chunk of ice wrapped up and on top of her head for that summer headache. Works for me. Decent chance she might have ice in the basement of a noblewoman's house? Especially one built by Stonemasons.

>You can probably tend to her, even if against her will. She must have just forgotten to drink water.
I doubt Alric is the type to leave someone he loves while they are in pain. Its a very nice reversal from when Alric was struck low and needed caring.

It does rather raise a question. If she just regularly abuses her human form by not drinking or eating enough and then it spirals into these headache sessions, what else is lack of nutrients like to cause in her human form? Which means she probably needs someone nearby to provide or take her out to eat, or to be in Alric's house.

>Lay down next to your lover and join her in enjoying the silence. If it works for her, it probably is enjoyable to you.
Once the water and the ice is done seems like the right thing to do. For Alric who is usually going this way or that all day it would probably be a good thing as well.

The silence returned into the cellar for a second before you decided the one right thing to do. Nalice clearly wants to enjoy the silence within these magically warded walls but you couldn't just leave her be. That would be just plain wrong.

So without saying a word, you walked to her and laid down next to her. You could hear it from her breathing that she was following you as you made yourself comfortable on the fine sand floor. Staring at the ceiling where one of the glyphs was located, you concentrated on it as your hand did the most important thing in all of this.

It found her hand and gently squeezed it.

Nalice returned the squeeze without saying a word back to you. Her breathing was steady and you found yourself following her rhythm as you started to allow the time pass. It wasn't hard to just be still, you had done this before with Pai when you stared her to submission. To keep your mind occupied, you switched away from the ward on the ceiling and returned within you. Allowing the fire inside of you to flare up, spread to your limbs and concentrating on that feeling made you feel warm.

Nalice must have realised it as she squeezed your hand again and you felt her hand against yours. She always had such warm hands, she had very warm skin too. But now it felt a bit different, a different type of warmth.

She squeezed your hand again and you heard a pleasant sigh.

>22, Failure

Time had passed as you meditated on the fire within you, feeling and probing it gently. The once vicious heat that made you feel like you were burning from within was only a gentle warmth, not an enemy to be defeated, but a companion to be cherished. It was just potent, maybe even more now that you knew how to weave and mold it. And as you meditated and held Nalice’s hand, you could feel the tiny surge of electricity in your hand as Nalice fed a small sliver of her own mana to you.

“Prince Alric.” Nalice finally said after several hours had passed.

“Lady Nalice, are you feeling better?” You asked carefully.

“I am, thank you for asking.” She replied, her regal accent very heavy today. “I told you to go, why did you stay?”

“How could I have left you alone? You weren't feeling well, so you needed someone to watch over you.” You said back to her and continued. “It would have been incredibly irresponsible for me to do so to my teacher.”

1/2
>>
>>6431080

Silence filled the cellar as you could only hear her breathing.

“Thank you, it means a lot to me.” Nalice said back to you, a sliver of emotion in her tone.

“We are more than friends, of course I am here for you.” You said to her and squeezed her hand. “And thank you for the mana.”

Suddenly she let go of your hand and pushed herself up.

“Prince Alric, we have wasted enough time with my headache. Get up and let us talk.” She said to you firmly.

“Like that?” You replied and looked up at her.

“Like what?” She asked you back.

“We laid on the sand holding hands for an hour or two.” You said to her.

“Prince Alric, the sand will get everywhere.” She said very matter of factly before walking up the stairs.

“Right…” You could only say as you sat up.

Well at minimum it was really pleasant to hold her hand.

When you joined her after brushing the sand off you, you found her making tea and preparing the cups and spoons.

“I have good news Prince Alric.” Nalice said to you.

“What would it be?”

“First of my assistants have arrived. They are already in the town assuming their new tasks and cover stories.” She said.

“Are they like… Sir Cyrus?”

“No, they are humans.” She said and continued. “But they have brought me some of the equipment that I require.”

“Oh that sounds splendid.”

“It is Prince Alric, we are one step closer in realising our plans, to get rid of the Fel within you.” Nalice said as she poured you a cup of tea.

She instructed you to sit down around a table and when she joined you, she had a faint smile on her face.

“You must have some other good news as well?” You asked as you took the cup. “The scent of the tea is tremendous.”

“I am pleased to hear that.” She said and took a sip. “And yes, I have some good news. While you were away meeting with the orcs, I looked at the Fel glass that you had picked up.”

“The turnip.” You said.

“Yes… It does look like a turnip… but you can use it to store Fel in it. I have tested it.” Nalice told you and continued to explain. “It is like a bottle, it stores the Fel and it doesn't leak out.”

“Wait? How?” You could only ask.

“That I do not know. Maybe the fire infused the Fel into the sand that turned glass?” Nalice mused. “But I am very aware of what it can do, it can be potentially a strong tool.”

That it definitely sounded to be, a source of Fel that doesn't leak and could be siphoned from? It could be a very useful tool in your use or in someone else's hands.

Is Alric just gonna let things be and not ask how shes been getting such headaches lol? If the form itself is just layers of magic achieving form and sensation how could she get headaches in the first place. (What if she hasn't had children) because her human form is actually just constantly being deprived, leading to such headaches. Its a human body that would basically collapse, but all the strain goes to her head to forcefully maintain it. Or something like that.

>>Does Nalice think you should use it?
In the future it is inevitable that Alric WILL run out of mana in encounters or going through waves of enemies to reach an objective. So it would be a nice last reserve.
>>Eligius might actually find that incredibly useful tool.
The stealth benefits of perfectly hidden Fel are considerable it must be said.
>>Could it be used to store the Fel which gets removed from your body?
It would be neat if it became the last refuge of FelThing, just to keep it in one piece since its such an interesting intelligent creature born out of Alric. Or can the being itself not be removed because its a part of Alric, so it really just goes to sleep while deprived of Fel or destroyed. Questions to be answered.

>Other, write in
Using the Fel Turnip as a weapon? Utility? Anti-warlock trinket.
What if you could use the Fel Turnip to suck out the Fel of a Warlock, juiced up fighter, or even a minor demon familiar? Take it in hand and press it up against them to just vacuum by force. Or use Mage-hand. Could be quite debilitating. If Alric himself were cursed or subject to some kind of Fel debuff to remove it lol.

We saw how dangerous and poisonous Fel is if it got into someone's arm. Alric had to pull it out himself or they were gonna cut that orcs arm off. This battery could replace Alric, or someone else, having to do that.

On the other hand an assassination tool. Could you pump Fel into someone. Would the Fel stored become a liquid.

If Alric didn't have a sword on him, could he make a temporary one out of magic using this as a core.

>At today's feast, you want Nalice there and you want to announce her as your advisor, not only as your teacher and scholar.
It would be nice to let her be more involved, have position to offer advice occasionally. A step closer to the family as is her dream. Opportunity to see some character interactions, or at least the observations they each make.

>Sir Gravis, the whole thing.
>Beve, her visit last night.
Currently the best and only real chance at Aliden Perenolde being stopped before he can wage a war on Alric's Alterac, or just have him assassinated, and to keep Falconcrest in check.

Oooh, Alric's luck doesn't last at all. Second failure on bonuses. Let's try one more time. I will roll myself and the result is the DC X

>3d10, Best of three
>DC X

Anon please, the mobile might be a hard mistress, but suffering creates character. It just want's you to succeed in the future when the odds are really against you.

Rolled 10, 10, 9 = 29 (3d10)

Rolled 7, 7, 7 = 21 (3d10)

There we go! The most superfluous and otiose roll asked and you got the high roll done. Alric is going to get something done, but what? That is for Write in to decide! At least if the QM is humoured about it enough.

What Alric accomplishes?

He got nalice pregnant somehow idk.

We should probably knight malevus at some point. She got her martial skill up to what we wanted from her I do believe.

Posted and went to sleep.
My suggestion is alric finally figures out hes magic napalm. The whole burning things that its not supposed to thing. and when he burned himself with hes own fire it was functioning as he wanted to.

He progresses further in removing the fel from his soul and body.

Should these be meme suggestions? A language boon instead of a magic boon maybe? I dunno... Maybe Nalice enjoys hearing Alric speak draconic when he's angry/frustrated
And just generally dragons don't think he's butchering their language and find his accent more amusing than annoying

I am looking for serious suggestions, just something that would fit Alric and/or Nalice.

Bit sleepy after barbeque yesterday

Well it is a bonus during our Nalice time it ought to relate. Magic itself is nice but it is secondary to things contributing to the arc of a character, to a deepening or expanding of a relationship.

Maybe while Alric was off doing this or that she had a nice moment with Malevus that deepened their bond and understanding.

There are things Nalice doesn't say personally or big things bound by pact which might require extraordinary revelation or feeling.

If Napalm was more meaningful than speaking to each other in a more workable Draconic, itself a magic enchanting language as well. Thinking up a good way to put hidden draconic runes on things.

Besides those notions. Nalice is supposed to be looking for artifacts and clues for artifacts. If she found one or a clue in some local legend worth checking out that's a big find. Would time constraints mean she has to fly over, and bring Alric along.

Other these are nice I'd support lol

Runes need to be exact. Letters sewn into clothes, and hidden in overall cosmetic patterns, would need a very good hand and tactile sense. If only we had someone like that...

A deeper bond forms. More moments of silence are shared. And this will have Nalice introduce, one secret she has yet to say to Alric. Medich choice on what it is : could be about the artifacts she is searching, politics, dragons etc....

Dragonscale ring but this one is made with a Nalice scale lol. I'm sure theres some ideas that could work with that, as well as significance.

Long day. Did have some other thoughts but it tended more towards "What if Alric had X during the last campaign." Which isnt necessarily that meaningful.

More lessons in her dragon tongue.

I have an idea what to write now, but that will have to wait maybe a day or two. I have been just stupendously busy so I haven't had time to sit down and write.

Apologies for the wait, but it might take a day or two to get the update out.
