In this thread, we will vote for the king/queen of /QST/. The path to the throne is paved with trials of strength, charm, intellect, and psychology. Choose wisely, Judges. The fate of our champion rests in your hands.

PROLOGUE

In most worlds, reality is law. In Eidolon, it is a negotiation.

Eidolon is a labyrinthine city suspended in a void of shattered realities. Gods walk its obsidian streets alongside demons, devils, and ghosts. The architecture itself is alive, shifting and groaning as the malleable fabric of reality bends to the whims of the cosmos. It is a place of breathtaking, terrifying beauty. But do not let the spectacle fool you. In the shadows of its twisting alleys and floating spires, nameless horrors lurk, waiting for a moment of weakness.

The city’s chaotic nature is governed by one absolute, unbreakable law: The Succession.

Through rites older than time, great heroes and villains are summoned from their respective dimensions. For the next several weeks, these interdimensional champions will be pitted against one another in a series of grueling Games. Only one champion will be crowned the Monarch of Eidolon.

To the victor goes absolute rule over the city for one year. They will be granted wealth, power, and authority that border on the divine.

When the year has passed, the Monarch’s reign will end. The crown will be stripped and their memories of the city, their reign, and their fellow competitors will be entirely wiped from their mind. They will be dumped back into their original dimension, returning to their life as if they had never left.

The gates of the Amphitheater are opening. The summons have been sent...

RULES

In this thread, you will play as an interdimensional Judge.

- You must namefag to participate. This is strictly enforced.
- QMs are welcome to join, but they cannot vote for their own characters or discuss their own quests, except during designated special rounds. For transparency, QMs must use their QM name/tripcode when participating.
- Do not bash or harass QMs. This thread is meant to celebrate the /qst/ board and its QMs, not to publicly execute them. Keep it positive.
- Do not reply to the QM's posts unless explicitly asked to do so. This keeps the thread clean and manageable. Violating this rule will result in immediate removal as a Judge.
- As a Judge, you may contest any of the QM's rules. Doing so requires submitting a well-reasoned argument. The QM will evaluate the validity of your argument using logic and a die roll.
- If a rule is unclear, do not ask the QM for clarification. Instead, write out your own interpretation or deduction. The QM will evaluate the validity of your interpretation using logic and a die roll.
- Contestations and interpretations may be veto'd by other Judges if they provide a valid counter-argument.
>>
REGISTRATION

Before you can participate in the quest, you must register as a Judge. Reply to this post with:

- An Ethos: A single word that determines your core ethical trait (the value you hold most dear). No two Judges may share the same Ethos.
- Optional: You may write a short paragraph to develop and explain your Ethos in more detail.
>>
NOMINATIONS

Nominations begin immediately in this thread. Reply to this post with one quest character you wish to nominate.

- We need to elect exactly 16 nominees. If the thread gains unexpected popularity and exceeds 16 nominations, we will hold a brutal elimination round.
- The nominee must be a humanoid, with a height between 3 and 8 feet. Elves, goblins, and talking monkeys are acceptable.
- The nominee cannot be a god or demigod.
- The nominee must originate from a /QST/ quest. It must be either a multi thread quest or a one-shot where the QM did not flake.
- The nominee must be an Original Character in either an original setting or an established TTRPG campaign setting. Forgotten Realms is fine. Franchises such as Pokemon or Game of Thrones are not allowed.
- QMs: If one of your characters is nominated, you may provide a short description.
>>
>I can't nominate my nigga Marnie
Not a true /qst/ tournament.
>>
Hey guys never played in one of these
>As a Judge, you may contest any of the QM's rules. Doing so requires submitting a well-reasoned argument. The QM will evaluate the validity of your argument using logic and a die roll.
>If a rule is unclear, do not ask the QM for clarification. Instead, write out your own interpretation or deduction. The QM will evaluate the validity of your interpretation using logic and a die roll.
Is this normal^^ because it makes no sense to me. Also why for id us from nominating Mark Delucia?
>>
Okay let's break this down a little bit
>>6443074
>QMs must use their tripcode when participating
So does this mean a QM cannot be a judge?
>Do not reply to the QM's posts. Violating this rule will result in immediate removal as a judge
Why
>You may contest any of the QM's rules
Why do rule contests and unclear rules require DICE ROLLS?
>May be vetoed by other judges if they provide a valid counter-argument
Okay but this doesn't require a counter-argument? How does this influence the QM's ultimate decision?
>>6443075
>Ethos
This seems a bit much
>>6443076
So no robots, anything below 2 feet or above 8 feet. No one from a franchise quest like Pokemon, Game of Thrones, DC/Marvel, etc.

Again, why?
>Originate from a /qst/ quest
How long ago can the nominee quests be? Are we going to nominate Ruby or something like the last one? Is there a cutoff?

These rules sound like they need workshopping. Also what quests have you run, QM

>>6443076
I nominate Johnny Ando Oka from Do Your Best Quest, QM #91m10.
>>
Rules are way too strict, especially for nominations.
Registration is too weird.

This tournament is going to be stillborn, but it would've been anyway since there doesn't seem to be any incentives to participate besides trying to one up other quests/ powerscale (Which goes against your "Celebrate /QST/" Aim, but so does the Nomination rules restricting a huge chunk of currently running and popular quests, for some reason), since there isn't any art being offered or made, unlike the last few tournaments. Especially because

>Contestations and interpretations may be veto'd by other Judges if they provide a valid counter-argument.

Is going to create endless shit-flinging if this somehow gets off the ground

This seems much more "in the moment" than the prior tournaments, which actually had planning and pools to fund art of the contestants/ winners behind them.

>>6443158
Perfect.

>>6443153
If you disagree with the rules, you may register as a Judge and contest them formally.

welp, see you all when someone actually runs a serious tourney
>>
>>6443145
This is in fact not normal. In the other tournaments we didnt larp as some metaphysical judge who has to rule lawyer to victory. It was a simple contest of
>nominate character
>anons vote
>favorite wins
Here are some examples:
>waifu tournament 2021
http://thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2021/4999756/
>Husbando tournament
http://thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2022/5090023/
>Nominstion and preparation thread 2024
http://thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2024/5961634/
>queen of /qst/ tournament 2024

>king of /qst/ 2024
http://thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2024/6014808/
I believe this qm is just way over his head on this one and some degree of control freak based on his ruleset and lack of community consensus.
>>
>>6443075
>Ethos: Attractiveness
If I participate in this tournament as a judge, I will vote based on how sexy the candidate is, based on how much lewd content they have generated from anons here or from artists on other websites, and based on how much I want the character to sit on my face.

I do not want to nominate a character just yet. I'll need some time to look through old quests and decide.

>>6443074
I would like to ask some questions about the rules and make a few appeals.

Questions: Namefagging is fine. QMs not voting for their own characters is fine (although they can still nominate them, right?). No harassment is fine. No replying to the QM posts sounds okay, but we are still allowed to ask you questions without directly replying to your posts, right?

Additions: I would like to ask if we can use some of the rules from previous years.
1. If the character is from a currently active quest, then the anon needs to ask permission from that QM before they can nominate. This is to let the QM know, and prevent attention if the QM wants to avoid the risk of drama.
2. The quest that the character is from must have completed at least one thread, in order to avoid flavor of the month craziness seen on other boards like /co/ or /v/.
Appeals:
>The nominee must be a humanoid, with a height between 3 and 8 feet. Elves, goblins, and talking monkeys are acceptable.
I think that this one is unfair. It seems arbitrary since it wasn't explained why "humanoid" is so important. In previous tournaments, some of the most voted on characters were non-human. For example, Beta Core from last time was a giant robot mech, yet he won the 'King of Quest' tournament due to his popularity.
>The nominee must be an Original Character in either an original setting or an established TTRPG campaign setting. Forgotten Realms is fine. Franchises such as Pokemon or Game of Thrones are not allowed.
I agree that the nominee must be an Original Character, but I think that it's unfair to require that they also come from an original setting. For example, Karn from Sayian Conquerer Quest was one of the most popular candidates from the previous contest. He exists in the Dragon Ball setting, but the character himself originates here on QST.
It seems unfair to punish QMs who wanted to use existing IPs because they were passionate about those settings, or QMs who used those settings in order to draw more players.

Lastly, I would like to request that everyone is given plenty of time before the nomination phase/round ends.
Some people only check QST once per week, or even less. I'd say that a window of... idk, three weeks to gather up attention sounds fair.
Once everyone is aware of the tournament, then things can proceed at a fast pace.

End thy life wux
>>
I am sort of interested but worried by the lack of earnest participation so far (two nominations, two judges) and by so many people thinkign it's a bait thread.

>>6443123
>>6443145
>>6443153
I also agree with these anons that any original /qst/ character regardless of height, shape power level, or setting should be eligible.
>>
>>6443266
Yeah, thread is dead on a arrival if it was an earnest attempt at a tournament because the ruleset is too strict and seems tailor made to cause shit flinging/ arguments. One or two changes won't fix it, the whole thing needs to be scrapped and if the guy is serious, run it like the prior tournaments instead of going "I might change the rules if you apply", which I really doubt that they will considering how they've reacted to the feedback in and out of this thread.

I have to agree with the idea that the rulset seems really weird and autistic.

Anyway, I doubt that any of my characters would get nominated if I didn't do it myself, so it's a whatever.
>>
>>6443266
>and by so many people thinkign it's a bait thread.
Wuxian has been trolling for the past month or so like how he did way back but it took him a little bit to put his own name on it. He likes using different trips and handles but gives himself away. This smells like the old Wux. Can't trust him to run stuff like this in good faith. Even when Reptard ran a tourney there were a lot of bunched up panties.

>Question 1: QMs can still nominate their own characters, right?
No, unless you can argue otherwise.

>Question 2: We are still allowed to ask you questions without directly replying to your posts?
Yes.

>Addition 1: If the character is from a currently active quest, then the anon needs to ask permission from that QM before they can nominate.
Accepted; this is reasonable.

>Addition 2: The quest that the character is from must have completed at least one thread
Accepted as clarification of existing rules.

>Addition 3: I would like to request that everyone is given plenty of time before the nomination phase ends.
Accepted; this is reasonable.

>Appeal 1: The nominee must be a humanoid
Accepted for argument based on precedent.

>Appeal 2: The nominee must be from an original setting
I would like to leave this one up for debate. It seems unfair to me that quests benefiting from the popularity of an existing IP would compete with OC quests. Isn't a large part of Karn's popularity based on the fact that his story plays out within the DBZ universe?
>>
>>6443318
simple way around the "existing IP" issue: just make it so that the character being nominated has to be an original creation by /qst/, not the entire setting
>>
>>6443318
Thank you CrownQM!

For appeal #2, maybe we put up a strawpoll vote and leave it going for a while?
That way people can make their case/arguments here to try and sway community opinion on which way to vote
>>
>>6443318
>It seems unfair to me that quests benefiting from the popularity of an existing IP would compete with OC quests.
Many Dragon Ball, Pokemon, Digimon, ASOIAF, 40K, etc quests exist but very few last and develop big followings around an OC.
>>

Here it is.

>If a rule is unclear, do not ask the QM for clarification. Instead, write out your own interpretation or deduction. The QM will evaluate the validity of your interpretation using logic and a die roll.

This is the most retarded shit I’ve ever seen. Why can’t you answer questions like a normal person? What’s the point of competing in a tournament when the spirit rules are unclear and can be changed on a coinflip?

I wouldn’t want you as my QM. What quest have you ran, anyway? I noticed you didn’t answer that question back in qtg.
