Welcome, /qst/ers, to the thread where we make /qst/ history... and get our board into the widely-acclaimed 4cc!

>What is it?
The 4cc is a website-spanning series of competitions in which teams representing different boards are entered into computer-driven Soccer (or Football) tournaments using the game Pro Evolution Soccer! You've probably seen it happen on other boards and maybe even saw a few matches! If not, here's a few clips to peruse:
https://isthisliv.com/booru/posts/query=video
>Why do we need a thread for this, you buffoon?
Good question! See, the 4cc is all about representing and celebrating boards--many teams have custom models for their players and some have even contributed designs for arenas and other assets! The process is a bit of a pain in the neck, so in the short term I wanted to make a place where people could suggest /qst/'s players and what position they might play.

Don't know anything about Soccer Positions? Check out an explanation HERE: https://www.orlandocitysc.com/news/soccer-101-positions-within-positions

Secondly, I wanted to gauge actual interest in our board joining the 4cc in the first place. If we managed to brainstorm a full team by September, we might even be able to play in the September Friendlies! Once we're in, well, the sky's the limit! Also it'd be fun to watch, so.
>Neato! How do I help?
There's quite a few ways, actually! If you're into modeling stuff there's a tutorial page on making custom player models here: https://implyingrigged.info/wiki/Blender_tutorials#PES16/17 It's a bit much so I don't blame you if you don't want to take a swing at it.

What you CAN do, though, yes, YOU, is answer the following questions!

>1) Do you have a nominee for a /qst/ player? They can be a current/past /qst/ character or some kind of in-joke as long as it'd be a good representation of /qst/!
>2) What position do you think they should play? You can say 'I dunno' if you don't know--no worries!
>3) Do you think /qst/ should join the 4cc? Why or why not?

Note that nominating someone is just that--a NOMINATION. Ultimately we'll need about 23 players for a full team--please voice your support for someone's nomination if you dig it! I'll be lingering to discuss and answer questions, but here's hoping we can put something together!

I nominate DemBones!!

Right, here's a screenshot I took of a general team outline. Yes, yes, I know it's /i/, but bear with me here. As mentioned above, a team usually consists of about 23 PLAYERS! Not a sum to sneeze at! That means we have quite a bit of wiggleroom, though, so if you have an idea for someone, be they from an old-ass quest or a new one, plop it in here and let's discuss!
>>
>>6444262
I have no specific nominations in mind for players, but I am excited to see this on the board and would be happy to contribute to the custom player modeling effort!
>>
But wait, there's MORE!

First of all, take a look HERE if you want to check out the 4cc Wiki for info and whatnot:
https://implyingrigged.info/wiki/Main_Page

Secondly, apparently teams can choose their official ANTHEMS, VICTORY ANTHEMS, and GOAL HORNS to boot, so if you have any ideas or nominations for that shit you can put it in here too!

Thirdly, I have a nomination for one of the players that I think HAS to be in--up for discussion, obviously, but it's a classic:
>Ruby from Ruby Quest
>>
>>6444262
>nominee/position
>that one blonde from DQR
>MERRYGATE
>Stanley Parble

Joke nomination: the ever-classic d100 as defense

Please no notorious trolls to represent /qst/. They don't deserve further acclaim/notoriety.
>>
>>6444278
Agreed. Fuck em. Would prefer to keep things positive if anything since this'll be a window into our little slice of Heaven/Hell that is /qst/ for people who watch the 4cc
>>
>>6444275
I will enthusiastically also support ruby from ruby quest
>>
Players don't have to be specific characters, and given the impact of anime quests as a whole, I nominate a character concept that I like to call: Anime Quest Self-Insert Protag

It would cover a lot of ground as a representative, there have been no shortage of DBZ, Naruto, Bleach etc. quests throughout the years. The model could be an amalgamation of traits from all those series like super saiyan hair, naruto headband and such to really capture the OC donut steel vibe

I'd also push for them to be a medaled striker, but that's just my personal bias speaking

>>6444278
That's no joke nomination though, the team wouldn't be representative of quests if there was no player to represent rolling. I'd call the player "Roll 1d100" and make them goalie
>>
>>6444262
I should at least propose the QM Curse as a player, if only because it has claimed the lives of many a quest. It's THE ultimate killer of /qst/, and we should honor it...

I'm not much fond of directly naming people but I do have a suggestion that covers a concept but also a person.
If you know you know, the Flake Snake. His own identifier, not a term of derision.
>>
Some iteration of this slapped on a guy's face, we'll call him 'Generic Civ Quest' or something of the like.

For specific characters, ones I have played as that I think deserve it off the dome:
>Mark Delucia
>Karn
>Argia Candente
>Rosa

Ones I have heard enough about that they also probably deserve it:
>Ruby
>Stanley
>Anya

For how much I have seen /qst/ players complain about women MC's they do constitute a lot of the classics...

Other meme ideas:
>QM Curse
>Burnout
>Samefag
>GOOD Fantasy Quest
>Not Another Isekai

>>6444299
I like the self-insert anime idea, and with 1d100 I would go further and have it be 1d100 BO3 since that mechanic is so common it's become a trope, basically.
>>6444306
I'm down for some kind of reference to the flaking phenomenon, we have a big roster to fill out.
>>
And we ought to drop archive links in the chat corresponding to a character when they score (if they score), and be thinking of some other stuff like that we can do to show some board pride and support, yaknow?
>>
Good news, everyquester! I was able to track down (with the help of the fine folks on the /4ccg/) a site where you can put together your own UNIFORMS for Pro Evolution Soccer!
https://www.pesmaster.com/kit-creator/beta/

>>6444281
Okay so I think it's safe to say that Ruby should be in? I see a lot of other suggestions too--keep em' comin'! Good shit thus far!

Gag characters should if possible be kept to a minimum so we can focus on getting actual quest representation in first, and that representation should probably be either related to quests that are active and long running if possible, or characters that are recognizable enough either from the /tg/ days or someone that has had a large impact on the board and it's culture (aka characters like Ruby from Ruby Quest though I personally started reading quests with Magical Girl Noir, Ruby Quest was the big one back in the day.)

Some characters for consideration:

- A Knight is Sworn to Valour: Full plate knight with massive plumage on his helmet with a sword and a shield with Emile's heraldry on it, representing Sworn to Valour of course. Alternative costumes could see him helmetless and accompanied by the Angel on his shoulder. His Heart Knows Only Virtue, His Blade Defends the Helpless, His Might Upholds the Weak. Perfect as a defender.

- Blair d'Rusalka: The main character of the Fire Emblem Three Houses quest, currently on it's sequel at the moment. Got some really good art of her that can be used as reference for model making. Can either be modeled on foot or mounted on her Pegasus steed. Midfielder should be good for her since she was a mix between a spellcaster and melee fighter. Can alternatively be swapped with Tristain d'Rusalka (no relation), the main character from the sequel.

- Any character from the Skeleton Island series, the QM of said quest having run drawquests since before this board was a thing. I am partial for the lovable goofball Quattro del Petto (since it would be funny to laugh when he fucks up), or Rasputin (who is really cool) but any of the main siblings or their lieutenants will make good candidates. Position would wary based on who is selected.

- A character from Panzer Commander: Tanq, like OP of Skeleton Island, have run his quest basically since day one of the board, and I think that deserves inclusion. Sloucho already nominated Anya, but I think it would be funnier if we had Richter's head sticking out of his m/32 tank instead. Panzer vor, Striker is his role.

>>6444299
>I'd call the player "Roll 1d100" and make them goalie
Personally I would call the goalie "Dice God" and have them depicted as some sort of djinn or a genie (รก la Aladdin's genie), with the torso and up visible and chad like in apperance while he's floating on a cloud or his lower body otherwise being immaterial somehow. Give him a hat in the shape of a D6 or D20 for style. This is probably the only gag character I would support upfront before we've filled out as many spots as possible with actual quest characters.
>>
>>6444378
These are fantastic suggestions, anon! Love the extra details you provided--from my understanding there's a bunch of people who help make assets for teams that can be begged for assistance, so the more details the better, frankly. Keep that shit up!
>>
>>6444378
>Gag characters should if possible be kept to a minimum so we can focus on getting actual quest representation in first
I have mixed feelings on this, honestly.
On the one hand, I do want to elevate and spotlight quests, obviously. On the other hand(s), memes are the standard for most of the teams and we will want a strong repping of our board's memes because that's our culture, and will intrigue people in some cases even more than a particular OC that, frankly, none of the viewers will have reference for. While the nature of this board does allow us to populate the roster with original characters, and they should be included, I think we should be willing to assimilate here a bit. Also, meme players will be more relatable to ALL /qst/ players than specific character players - everyone on the board will feel a connection to QM Curse that only some of us will with Mark Delucia, or even Ruby. I am one of the more active players on the board these days and I have never even read Ruby, honestly, not that it means I think she hasn't earned a slot.

Another thing to consider is that once you are past the 6-8 characters that just about all of us know and can agree have left a big mark on the history/culture, it'll get kinda quibbley. Most active quests hover around 3-5 voters now. It may be difficult to pick and choose quicker than we think, and some QMs might feel slighted if their characters don't make the cut for reasons that ultimately feel arbitrary, and honestly I don't even know how we would evaluate after a certain point.

This is all just my perspective, and it's influenced by my being both a newcomer and an active QM but even more active player.

Maybe it would be fun or interesting to have slots on the roster reserved that can be changed to different characters bi-annually, and we do some kind of competition or tournament on the board, similar to the old king/queen tourney, in order to pick the ones that get that spotlight? Could do like 8 maybe, that's about a third of the team, leaves 15 full-timers to settle on, which should include our captain and goalie, I think.

>>6444386
Yeah choosing characters sounds like it will be a pain to represent fairly. Ruby is fair enough since she is THE og, and a high quality one too. However do we ignore the current oc's or stick to the classic ones from over 5 ish years ago? I do get some people want to give more recent qm's their fair share. That said I wish to nominate Christoff from Seeker quest by Dolomite miss him, I loved chalcocithic quest
>>
>>6444392
I've only had the pleasure of one Dolomite quest, but I see the guy as being a real board staple in a way and knew immediately something of his deserves to be included.

I have never played Do Your Best but that also seems to have such an intense legacy and genuinely impressive art. I barely skimmed one thread and still I am so used to the thumbnails it would be hard for me to deny that I see it as a feature of the board, like a sticky almost, yaknow?
>>
>>6444386
This isn't a bad idea either, actually--choose some full-timers and swap out the remainder to keep things interesting... I can get behind that, yea
>>
>>6444386
Rotating cast would be super cool, honestly. I personally like the idea of characters since they usually have cooler designs vs memes (which can be pretty abstract), but I see what you all mean when you say that a lot of quests are kind of isolated and the character's aren't really board-wide things. I think some kind of rotating lineup would be a great compromise if we get this off the ground.

>>6444378
These are super cool ideas. Dice god is a classic
>>
>>6444397
>I personally like the idea of characters since they usually have cooler designs vs memes
How about we use the memes as the guys who get benched? would be really funny for the flake meme to never be available.
>>
>>6444409
kek

If you have to show Flake QM as a player I would just make it a regular player but with invisible/transparent skin so he's just a shirt and shorts or however that works in the engine.
>>
I don't like the idea of nominating specific quest characters unless the quest is objectively historically notable (e.g. Rubyquest). It just seems ripe for shitflinging and hurt feelings. Maaaaybe we could do some memes from old dead quests if we don't have enough ideas for current ones.

>>6444305
>>6444278
No way Charlotte could even wrap her head around the rules of soccer. Also, DQR had, like, 5 players, so isn't even close to representative of the board as a whole.
>>
>>6444396
>>6444397
Most teams keep a pretty static roster, but will swap a meme here and there if something really significant happens between tournaments that all the posters can get behind and feel proud of. Because our board is naturally low on memes (almost all the threads are their own games with their own worlds and rules, so no uniformity of 'culture') but high in OC's, I feel like having a chunk of the team rotate. The /qtg/ just doesn't produce enough material to populate the team with memes, and I am on board with basically all the quest characters pitched so far but must admit I haven't even heard about maybe a quarter of them.

Let's knuckle down on an idea for a rotating roster. Let's ASSUME it will be 8 slots, but be open to expanding that if we get stumped trying to put down the other 15 static players.

How do we pick these 8? I have the basic shape of an idea.

A thread, run like a quest by a Referee or Coach QM, in the style of a tournament. We can call it tryouts. I think restrictions should be simple like, the quest needs at least one thread with 300+ posts behind it, could be a One-Shot, and the QM should be asked for permission if they don't propose a character themselves, and only one character per quest per tryout/cup cycle. Because there will be like 8 slots, it doesn't need to be super competitive imo. I'd suggest we figure a way to mix voting and dice, honestly. There should be some community consensus, but I do think some chance should be involved so that it isn't a total popularity contest and smaller/newer QMs have some kind of opportunity to maybe snag a spot. We could do tryouts in the lead-up to each cup, but I think after our first go at it, we should run them simultaneous with the cup - that way board members here that maybe can't catch the official cup can still get in the spirit, and we have our own bi-annually competition to prep our roster for the next cup. These threads would also be ideal for us as a community to communicate about and work on the cup in general, like this thread we're in now.
>>
>>6444262

>1) Do you have a nominee for a /qst/ player?
The one single Janny we got
>Position?
Goal keeper?
>3) Do you think /qst/ should join the 4cc?
Why not
Samefag could also be a funny concept, not sure how it would work with modelling, maybe like the same guy with several copies of himself behind him
>>
Oh hell yea, great idea Bonez. I've been following the 4CC for quite a time already, a bit off and on. I do have some ideas about how a /qst/ team would look like.

First off, I'm of the opinion that we should definitely have some "general" characters that represent memes or phenomena that appear on /qst/. People already made it quite clear that /qst/ doesn't have a lot of those because of the insular nature of quests and their threads, but they are important to show we posses a board culture and a general sense of community. On that note, I'm also of the opinion that some of these players should take up some of the most important positions on the team.

For those who don't know, the 4CC teams have gold and silver positions (sometimes bronze ones, depending on the ruleset used for the cup at the time.) What does that mean? These players are usually the star players, the one who will set up and score most of the goals in a game. Mechanically, they have higher or max stats and various tricks up their sleeves. This also means that they are the manifestations of some of the most iconic memes, people and events connected to a board. For /qst/, this could be QM Curse being one of the main forward players, either a striker or playmaker or even a goalie, as goalies are often iconic by themselves.

Continuing, we definitely have to get some characters from quests in, as they are our biggest asset and most unique thing about us. I agree with some others anons that we should keep some positions rotating as to allow QMs to allow their own brain babies to shine. I do like the idea here >>6444503 to have some kind of competition, maybe once or twice a year to change up the roster and to make it a fun thing for voters to participate in. But, I also think we should come to some consensus regarding some truly exceptional quests or characters that should be considered mainstays or medal positions. Maybe even skip the competition for the first time and try to see what kind of team we can construct?

Now, I would like to recommend some players.

>General board culture related characters:
The QM Curse (The QriM Reaper baby. We know him well, every time a QM thinks he will run his quest, he strikes and robs us of a good quest. Possible medal player.)

Waifu War (Sometimes introduced by the QM or some truly willful anons, the existence of romantic options will always bring great shitstorms to any quest. Considering how universal this almost is, also a possible medal position.)

>Civ Thread #5021 (Pick race and location. And drop the quest because that's about the only thing you will get from the QM.)

The Eternal Samefag (What is there to be said? Bastard(s) who likes manipulating quests.)

The Eternal Flaker. (The bastard that hooks you with a good premise and then goes for cigarettes and milk. These two could make a funny defensive duo.)

Skirmish Quest (A good representation of player cooperation and there is always one around on the board.)

1/2
>>
>>6444514
>Waifu War
Can't believe I didn't think of this yet...

Seems like there's a broad agreement by now about
>QM Curse
>Flaking (represented in some way)
>Generic Civ Thread
>Samefag
I think we should specify 'Samefag Voter' or 'Samefag Ballot-Stuffer' to differentiate from the samefags of all the other boards, right?
>Ruby

So that's five for sure.

Would anyone OBJECT to
>Argia Candente
>Mark Delucia
>Stanley Parble
?
>>
>>6444520
I have some ideas for meme players:
>drawfag
>punished drawfag
>Autism Tome
>>
>>6444514
Continuation:

The /QTG/ (The main hub to go and waste your time instead of running a quest or partaking in one. Sometimes useful, always there.

GOOD fantasy quest when?! (Never.)

Best of Three (The ol' reliable. Don't have a rolling system for your quest? Use Bo3 and allow players to clutch it in the last second. Or a goalie to defend the goal. Actually agree with some of the anons to have him as the goalkeeper.)

Drawquest (Seems like a banal addition, considering we're going to have plenty of characters from drawquests, but I'll leave it as a possible addition.)

sup/tg/ (Our beloved archive. What would we do without it?)

>Quest characters (atleast those I'm familiar with):

Catastrovania Strifaust Morituros IX (Hikkikomori Quest/Various Other Drawquests. Our beloved loser girl who canonically posts on /qst/. Considering how often she appears in other drawquests and quests, she's practically an unofficial mascot and I think he deserves a spot, maybe even a medal position. Her pathetic nature would also make it very funny.)

Sir Emile Andrei (Sworn to Valour quest. Already recommended, but I think Forgotten definitely deserves a representative and I couldn't think of any better option then Emile. The big honourable himbo who suffers from religious mania.)

Panzer Commander (Panzer Comannder Quest. Already recommended, tanq would truly deserve a player, considering the length, quality and dedication to the various quests he ran. Guess we could leave it open to which character would be suitable to play, as I only have proper knowledge of Revolutionary Man and the skirmishes.)

Johnny Ando Oka (Do Your Best Quest. While I haven't read the quest, the amount of dedication put into the quest and its longevity makes it one of the mainstays of /qst/ and deserving of a position.)

Skeleton Island Representative (Skeleton Island Quest. Also a product of a mainstay DrawQM, it is completely deserving of a player on the roster. Quattro del Petto or Shotasniffer.)

These are some of the one I really support. Maybe Gotham City Cop can get a representative, some characters from Levelman's quests. ObserverQM also deserves a post, but I will leave that to those more familiar with these quests to argue and decide.

>>6444520
I've no problem with Candente, Delucia or Stanley to be put in. But what is Delucia from again?

Cool idea for the 'tryouts'! I don't know how eager I am to start a new thread for a tourney-lite, especially for our 'maiden voyage', but I can definitely see this being fun in the long run for subsequent roster shifts and whatnot! Gives us time to think up guidelines and the actual procedure and whatnot too.
>>6444509
...We have a Janny? Seriously though, not a bad idea--I definitely don't mind us choosing someone special to be our goalie!
>>6444514
Hey, thanks! I watch it on and off too and was always a little bummed /qst/ hasn't thrown in yet. Glad to see people are interested at the very least!

This info about the GOLD and SILVER positions is also very handy--definitely gives people something to shoot for in regards to Sloucho's idea for the Tryouts. Also helps that these guys tend to have higher stats which, yea, will be important to track in our team makeup.

Also I love all these player suggestions. I support QM CURSE, FLAKER, SAMEFAG, and WAIFU WAR for sure. Definitely think DRAWFAG deserves a spot too per >>6444530 this anon.

>>6444520
I don't consider Stanley ICONIC, per se, but if the unwashed Democratic masses think she should be on the team then I'll support it!

We should start keeping track of nominations, especially ones with multiple endorsements. I think Ruby's definitely in by now...
>>
>>6444520
No idea who Argia Candente, Mark Delucia, or Stanley Parble are.
>>
>>6444533
I would also support Johnny Ando simply because DYB has been a board staple for ages now. AND Quattro because yea, c'mon. Skeleton Island. Catastrovania's good too, but I think the new folks oughta' get a refresher on who she is. Tanq deserves some rep too, but I dunno which character would be the most fitting.

As for Observer I'm all for something silly like Mech Model That Took Multiple Days To Make or something. That or MERRYGATE.

Bo3's funny too. Also FUCK we totally SHOULD do sup/tg/ or LordLicorice! What a king!
>>
>>6444534
>>6444537
Thank you very much. Also, an important aspect of the Cup is the fact that teams have managers. These are the guys who actually make the tactics and strategies for the team and they are quite important. Probably the most tedious part of the job as it requires the person to learn some basics about PES meta strats and such. Also, they make live plays and calls to help the team win in real time. Of course, /qst/ could also be an autopilot team with a caretaker, which means that it has preordained tactics in a pastebin, without the intervention of a manager to better the situation should it turn sour for the team.
>>
>>6444541
Yea, I've already taken the first few tenuous steps towards becoming the manager just to get the ball rolling, but I definitely don't mind if someone else with more know-how wants to do it instead or wants to co-manage with me!
>>
>>6444533
>>6444535
Mark Delucia is the protagonist of Gotham City Beat Cop, which has gone for more threads than most and still commands ~7 votes regularly.

Argia was the protag of Silver Knight Quest, which ran to completion recently and was also highly popular (relative to the norm).

Stanley is from Bones Quest, which I never played, but I have heard and seen a lot about.

>>6444534
>>6444537
Agreed on keeping track! So far no explicit objections and some more agreement so I think we are looking like:
>QM Curse
>Flake
>1d100 BO3
>GOOD Fantasy Quest
>Samefag (voter/whatever)
>Generic Civ Quest
>Ruby
>Waifu War
>Johnny Ando Oka
>Sir Emile Andrei
These feel pretty solid so far.

Ones I think we should get clarification are:
>Skeleton Island (Quattro? Someone else?)
>Panzer Quest (Anya?)

Ideas that I think mayyyybe need one or two more explicit nods of approval:
>Argia Candente
>Mark Delucia
>Stanley Parble

And finally, options that have only been barely touched on or not at all that need some kind of rep:
>Something from Space Monke, obviously
>Something from Observer
>Something from a Dolomite quest
>>
>>6444556
IF we dial in on all the stuff in the last three categories, we still have 5 slots to fill! Feel free to argue with me and amongst each other about any of this, but barring any loud and compelling objections, those first 10 should probably get locked in.
>>
>>6444556
I nominate SNNNNNNRRRTTTTTT
>>
>>6444278
D100 should be the goalie.
>>
So what are we doing on the team breakdown? I'm rather confused about what was decided on, are we going with reserving a team block for rotating quest characters alongside the major ones and memes? Who would go on that versus any characters with permanent spots?
>>
Keep in mind you'll want to come up with as many potential players as you can, ideally more than the 23 that comprises a PES team. That way people who want the team to participate can vote for their favorite players and decide who makes the team.
Generally, your most popular players are your medals and your goalkeeper (goalkeepers if the board decides to run 2 GKs instead of 1)
>>
If you're trying to get "/qst/ memes" then it would be a mistake to not add something to the tune of "First girl"

Because, as you know, the first girl always wins.
>>
Anons please help here
>>6444556
Who from Skelly Island?
Who from Panzer?

Any further support for Argia, Mark, or Stanley?

Any suggestions from Space Monke, Dolomite, or Observer?

Any other suggestions at all?

>>6444646
First Girl isn't shabby, it certainly does seem the First Girl becomes to romance option when it's that kind of quest, though I will also say I haven't seen the term used before now, or seen the phenomenon discussed much. Still, solid idea imo.
>>
>>6444642
Another thing you'd want to think about is models: you don't have to know how to work Blender to make a team but if you can provide 3D models that aesco can port into PES, it makes their job much easier

I think my opinion on medals and goalies so far would be that QM Curse should be the goalie or captain, and if he is the goalie, I think Ruby or 1d100 BO3 should be captain.

> I will also say I haven't seen the term used before now
I've seen it happen in nearly every recent quest with a love interest. It's also called first girl syndrome, but then I wouldn't get to make the joke that they always win.

>>6444652
This trope was already a thing when I was running ten years ago

Then I say we send it! Adding it to the list:
>QM Curse
>Flake
>1d100 BO3
>GOOD Fantasy Quest
>Samefag (voter/whatever)
>Generic Civ Quest
>Ruby
>Waifu War
>Johnny Ando Oka
>Sir Emile Andrei
>First Girl
Though honestly, I think clarity is important as is distinctiveness, so maybe
>First Girl Syndrome
Unless anons take exception?
>>
>>6444665
I'm wary of using specific quest characters unless the quest or character has objective historical merit. Meaning Ruby from Rubyquest is fine (hugely influential, only quest that ever escaped 4chan containment), and I could live with Catastrovania (since she's featured or cameoed in half a dozen quests), but I don't like using MCs of quests that, no matter how long they've been running, a minority of the board has ever engaged with. This applies to Johnny, Emile, Stanley, Charlotte, and so on. To me specific characters or specific quests directly invite shitflinging once people realize their favorite quest is left out, and I don't want to deal with that at all.

What I'd be okay with is a player who's called something like "the MC" or "the feMC," who represents multiple different specific MCs on their model in some way, or has rotating models, or something like that. That's the only thing that feels fair to me.

To make a more positive contribution, I'd like to add:
- Diplomancy/ "The Diplomancer"
- "Quest Master"
- wat do
- RNGesus
- Write-ins? (Perhaps combinable with wat do)
- Mystery Box
- Chargen
- A representative of evo games
- A representative of skirmishes
>>
>>6444681
Also, strong support for Lord Licorice as a player. I would also like to add the concept of the "Pastebin" (implied to be smut), the "shitstorm" (fewer of these these days, but still prominent in our history), and "crunch."

I'd be fine with adding the One Janny as long as the joke is that the One Janny is nonexistent or useless.

I think someone up there mentioned having rotating quest characters? Like different ones each game? This would make me okay with using specific quest characters, but it feels like a ton of extra work compared to universal memes / tropes / quest elements.
>>
>>6444681
I think I agree with the "no character thing"

Even if I don't like rubyquest either.
>>
Seems to be a growing support for focusing more on ideas and memes rather than specific characters which I'm honestly inclined to support in the interest of promoting lasting board culture and not leaving anybody out. Maybe down the line we can change that depending on /qst/ Tourney results or whatever, but in the interest of keeping it fun for the whole board I'll throw support in for concepts like >>6444665 Sloucho mentioned here minus the specific characters
>>
>>6444681
>>6444682
I could be convinced to ditch individual quest characters in favor of JUST memes - but as said earlier, we have vanishingly few, unfortunately.
And to that end, I have to say I think some of these suggestions are too vague and flavorless to merit their own player, at least in my opinion. Diplomancer doesn't make much sense to me, I haven't seen the word on the board in a year - is it a common parlance for MC's that are socially oriented? Wat Do really isn't our meme, unfortunately, and it's practically neolithic. Chargen is maybe a good foundation, but on its own is just at home with /tg/ and isn't funny or interesting. What is we made it Overwrought Chargen Section, or Post-Chargen Voter Drop, maybe just Post-Chargen Flake; I feel like there are tropes or elements to chargen in the quest format that I think could stand out as distinctive for the board, yaknow?
And we need a LOT more.
>>6444682
>I think someone up there mentioned having rotating quest characters? Like different ones each game? This would make me okay with using specific quest characters, but it feels like a ton of extra work compared to universal memes / tropes / quest elements.
That was my idea, and I think it does feel like the safest way to satisfy anons here that do want individual quests to be represented on the team. Some anons want the team to be ONLY quest characters! We are really used to reaching conclusions on /qst/ with a majority democratic decision with raw voting numbers. But even with post ID, there can be samefagging. Even if there wasn't any, this is something for the whole board to participate in and so I think our goal should be compromise, finding as much common ground as possible.
As for the effort expended to run our own threads to select our part of the roster instead of a one and done that's rarely (if ever) adjusted for new viral memes... Yeah it is a lot of extra work. Well, it's a lot of time and sustained interest, it isn't challenging to do, yaknow? And, man, what else is going on around here? I am willing to bet a lot of posters on this board are regulars on other boards, where discussion is a lot faster and involved. Anons that are interested in the cup will be able to work together to knock it out. Discussion in here has already been pretty lively, I feel. I bet we could make it happen in between quest updates. And if there isn't enough genuine interest to float it, we just brainstorm to pad things all the way out with memes if we can. At that point no one could rightly complain about quest characters being neglected from the roster, because an effort will have been made.

I am still trying to figure out the ideal way to decide that kind of contest, but I like the idea of using dice in the process because of how atomized different quests are in their engagement, if that makes sense. Applying chance discourages samefagging or 'cheating' and equalizes opportunity.
>>
>>6444698
>Diplomancer doesn't make much sense
OK look I appreciate your contributions to the board but I don't think the unequivocal newfag should be determining what makes sense and what doesn't.
>>
>>6444702
There are better ways to explain this than calling someone in the discussion thread a newfag. We're here to discuss options--it's only natural some people won't be familiar with all the terms.

>>6444698
Diplomancer refers to a character who, rather than solving things through combat and straightforward means, focuses more on talking their way out of situations. It's pretty common in a lot of quests not unlike someone who focuses on stealth and more subterfuge than outright combat.
>>
>>6444702
>>6444703
Right I know what a diplomancer is, but who is using it in discussion on the board? Did they used to?
>>
>>6444709
Yup, you don't see it much anymore, but it was pretty popular. At the end of the day a lot of this will depend on further nomination, though, so if more folks think it's appropriate then great. If not then I'm sure we can plug in some better terms.

I'll probably whip up a strawpoll or two in a day or so when I'm not tired as fuck to lock in some ideas, but keep 'em coming, folks

>>6444703
>>6444709

Yes. It has.

>>6444716

>>
Hokay, here's a bunch of suggestions I was gonna throw into a strawpoll today to see if any were really popular and lock-inabble. We've got about 22 right here so there's definitely room for more!

>The QM Curse
>The Flake
>1d100 Best O' 3
>A GOOD Fantasy Quest
>Samefag
>Generic Civ Quest
>Ruby
>Waifu War
>The sup/tg/ Archive
>LordLicorice
>Drawfag
>Skirmish
>Evo Game
>Dice God
>First Girl Syndrome
>/qst/'s One Janny
>Diplomancer
>RNJesus
>Wat Do?
>The QM
>Endless Chargen
>Write-In
>Pastebin Smut
>Burnout
>Not Another Isekai Quest

These are just some of the ones I've seen skimming the thread. We've got quite a few so far which is great! Assuming we aren't doing specific characters, I think we can brainstorm a few more before I shove 'em in a strawpoll if need be.

>FOLLOW-UP QUESTION: What UNIFORM COLORS do you think /qst/ would wear???
>>
>>6444868
I would argue against putting in LordLicorice as I think the Archive already covers him quite well and I don't think putting real people like QMs into the roster. Shame that the inclusion of quest characters isn't more popular, but I see why people would be avoidant to that, considering we don't really have any objective way to decide which character is more "important" than the other one.

>FOLLOW-UP QUESTION: What UNIFORM COLORS do you think /qst/ would wear???
Oh yes, great question. I was thinking maybe green or baby blue vertical lines with white. Maybe a checkered pattern could be cool. But, there are plenty of drawfags on this board, so I don't doubt that they can come up with something better. Also, the uniforms are not limited to simple shapes and colours, some teams have full on clothes and references, like armours and military uniforms. Maybe having knight uniform could be a cool away or 3rd kit.
>>
>>6444913
Makes sense, yea. Wasn't sure whether or not we wanted to honor the archive man himself so I just chucked him in there anywho. I don't know if we have to avoid specific characters FOREVER, per se--I did like Sloucho's idea of having it become a reward--not to mention this stable isn't set in stone... it can change and evolve as the board sees fit.

That said, yea--I feel like specific characters can cause more trouble than its worth right now at the outset. We might get there some day, but I don't want to presume I'm objective enough to determine who should be in and who shouldn't. Again, this is just a jump-off point--with luck in the future we can get a lil' more creative once we're involved proper.

As for the pattern, not a bad start! I recommend fiddling with that site I posted above and taking a screenshot--I think color overlap with other boards is pretty much inevitable, but it doesn't hurt to brainstorm, right?

Also a good point about the away and home uniforms.

Ok I wanna speak against going for all meme characters, I think its kind of lame. I think it would be nice for more characters to get recognition even if they are recent or such, so I want to nominate Chrysidius Carabaid (or just Chrys) from the monster girl facility quest, one of my favorite quests going back from 2024.
>>
>>6444868
Perhaps this is getting a bit ahead of myself, but can I suggest that we take 'The Impossible Dream' (The Quest) as the anthem?
>>
>>6444868
How about

>Space Monkey
as a player?

Rather then a specific character, it could take the form of any and/or all of the characters from a pair of long-running quests that have both featured across this board for a long time.
>>
>>6444949
I dig this, yea--just hope those bastards at /tg/ didn't co-opt it already!
>>6445056
Also not a bad idea--I'll add it to the prospective list.
>>6445099
I understand completely--both as a QM and a player there are definitely some characters I wouldn't mind putting in, but as someone who reads MGFQ too I'm also keenly aware that not everyone does... and if we make an exception for, admittedly a great quest (in my opinion) that not everyone follows, then we've got the issue of "well, why isn't MY favorite character represented then?"

I know MGFQ has run for a long time, but so has DYB. So has Saiyan Conqueror. So has all of Tanq's quests. I don't mind the idea of maybe honoring a few characters that win, say, a /qst/ Tourney in the future or picking some arguably timeless, defining characters like Ruby in Ruby Quest, maybe Boss Ogre from Ogre Civ... Even those are kinda subjective, though.

Anyways, I'm not exactly the deciding vote here, but as much as I would like to honor specific characters, I think it's best we keep things focused on the board itself if only to avoid slighting other users since this is a board project.

>>6445138
https://youtu.be/ZwWFTSYbyjM
Not bad! I'd say it fits well--feel free to suggest more, folks!
>>6445139
I'd argue this is the same as putting in a Panzer Commander character. Or a Saiyan Conqueror character. Or a Bones/Slice/Dark Quest Overall character. No shade to BananasQM, but I still think that's putting a specific quest on a pedestal.

In other news, I'm gonna contact the commissioners and such about Management roles today--got other shit to do first, but I figure I might as well throw my hat into the ring. Will keep y'all updated, but please keep throwing out ideas for everything... and don't forget to support the ideas you like!

Speaking of, what if we had a player based on
>Railroading
? Dunno if it's good in that form or not (haven't had my coffee) but who knows?
>>
>>6445193
>just hope those bastards at /tg/ didn't co-opt it already!
I think at one time they did have a DM player, but I think it was 'That DM', and idk if they have ever used the D&D Dungeonmaster aesthetic. I know they dropped Los Tiburon and Creed, really bums me out. Anyhow, that's the team I've historically rooted for, and so from my perspective at least, being one of their long-time fans, I'd say it's important to me (and probably generally) that we do our best to generally distinguish our players. I think we'll get clowned on if we field somebody that could be swapped onto their team without raising any eyebrows, and it just won't make for a very impressive debut showing. Just like you, I am not a deciding vote, but I just think it would be lame and make us seem like knockoffs when this board is honestly one of the more unique ones on the site. That's not to say 'QM' or 'QuestMaster' with the D&D guy's face is an outright bad idea! We oughta throw it in as we're setting up and getting a base to build the roster from, but it is one of the propositions that feels like it's approaching that line, for me.
>Boss Ogre
While it puts a smile on my face to remember those guys, I might even argue that because that quest was /tg/ based it feels a little like an appropriation. Even if more anons want to work in quest characters I think it might be best to source from /qst/ originals rather than the progenitors of the trend that helped create the impetus for the board, at least in my opinion. Generic Civ feels like an exception because it has inexplicably remained a frequent post and ALWAYS flakes, so it's become its own meme here, in a way that OG quests like Ogre Civ isn't.

>Uniforms
Maybe a corny idea, but just spitballing - could be white shirts with thin, blue horizontal lines, and one thin, red vertical line on the left side. Kinda like notebook paper? Because we're all writing all the time? Would make us stand out.
>>
>>6444868
How About
>Race >Place >Copypaste
To represent the abundance of low-effort Civ quests where somebody puts up the same old Copypasta with far too many options and no coherency and then just flakes after a couple of weeks?
>>
>>6445193
With regards to 'putting a specific quest on a pedestal', I think we should remember that eventually, no matter how broad the concept they represent, each player will eventually want to have some form of specific identity behind them to be the model for the player on the pitch, such as >>6444949 's
suggestion the Dungeon Master.

And whilst some such as >>6444353
Generic Civ Quest can just be the Copypaste ambulating around the field with arms and legs attached, I think we'd all prefer it if at least some of them eventually get pretty models. So even for the generic concepts we should probably have a think of what specific character should be used to represent them. For example, we might decide that A GOOD Fantasy Quest will be Blair Weaver in model, that Skirmish is best represented by a model of Maddalyn from Panzer Commander, that Petunia from Gaol is best suited as a model for First Girl Syndrome or that the Jaxtian Supreme Vantix Garastra fills the roll of >Write in.

I had an idea for an MS Paint themed kit since it was once upon a time an easy to use tool for making art for quests. It would basically just be white for a blank canvas/background with light blue accents representing the UI, specifically from the Aero theming. You could also swap that with black accents for more of a monochrome theme or have some design on the jersey that looks like it was drawn with the pencil tool. I'm not sure what specific design would go on there, but it's just an idea.
>>
>>6445193
You know, it does give me an idea. We could do a mini-tournament of /qst/ characters in teams, each quest having a football (or futsal, to make the rosters smaller, or even a different sport) team to play off as a bit of fun. We could even leave who wins up to dice to prevent it being a popularity contest and see which quest's team wins the /QST/ Cup.
>>
>>6445464
/vg/ actually does something like this already in the form of /vg/ League/VGL, with teams based on the various generals of /vg/. The top 21 teams get to send a representative from their VGL team to play on the official /vg/ roster, with the champion taking the second gold medal spot alongside permanent player and team captain Git Gud. I think some other things are decided on in different ways, such as the team with the Golden Glove setting to send their Goalkeeper and the stadium being voted on, but they essentially do their own independent league to determine the main board's roster.

I think /vt/ does something similar with VTL, but I don't know how much impact it has on the roster. The winner has been used for the /vt/ stadium at the very least.

Whoops my bad I mean there's a match going on today--sorry, all, coffee hasn't kicked in yet. Still, check it out! Should be fun!
>>
I don't think the decision to include or exclude quest/QM specific characters is clear cut
Having them be in major slots is maybe too much, but there are slots for regular players that get rotated out during the match (so a huge chunk of the regulars is on screen through the match, as some get tired and others swap in)
those slots could, in theory, be used as a showcase for some neat quest characters
this is about 16 to 17 slots (depending on if we have a reserve goal keeper or not)

What characters get into these slots would be with some resctirctions (like max one character per QM and Universe, we don't want a popular quest to dominate), and if the specific characters aren't more popular then general /qst/ board concepts, then they would no be included

Anyway, vote if you care,
I think three days or so are a fair amount of time, so I'll check it out then

https://strawpoll.com/3RnYXMkADye
>>
>>6445908
I'm down for this--we'll let the board decide the best action! Folks looking to vote: please read the details carefully!
>>
My opinion on whether or not to include characters or not isn't just a matter or popularity or exclusion, since frankly every quest is scattered enough and nobody's really "big" enough to be encompassing a majority of the readerbase anyways that it's impossible that somebody, or many people, don't feel left out. But I do have something to say regarding seniority rules.
Back in the early days of /qst/, when you asked anybody what to read or play, there was rarely an actual response to participate in something currently running. There was just a pack of these people who never did anything new, who only hung around in /qtg/ whining and pining for the old days, for quests that hadn't run in years and would never run again, and never looked at anything even remotely new or even paid lip service to them to try and put some life into the board. They were in half-lived purgatory and were happy to be in it. They were more and more ridiculous over the years until, finally, in the present day, they're finally all dead and good riddance to them.
So I don't really think seniority should have any significance or meaning at all in regards to this. There's been plenty of good, influential, or finished quests since the board started, and I really don't think there's merit in being the oldest ones still standing. A lot of the time I see people look at long running things and go "oh wow, that's too much reading for me to even try, but good for you I guess," and I have to say that obligation and admiration are clearly two different things here. The point I guess is that if a specific inclusion is made it should be a large and noticeably supported one, not something that's just done because it vaguely feels like you should.

Do we want to consider the /qst/tan board-tan for a spot? I can't say it really gets a lot of use here, but it is a representative of the board with a defined look.
>>
>>6446039
Oh wow... That's so cute! Yes, definitely. It's neutral, appealing, and distinct. Caught some peeks at the cup today and was noticing how intensely stylized all the other board's stuff is @___@ made me jelly. I don't want us to roll up looking like plain janes or /tg/ ripoffs. Suppose some of the /v/ derivative boards have to thread that same needle, though, of covering narrower aspects of the original board's purview.
>>
>>6446039
This is an absolutely perfect suggestion and I'm kicking myself for not remembering that our little guy existed. We could possibly also steal his outfit for our team uniform if we want:
>Green shoes with purple trim (purple to represent the socks)
>Blue Shorts
>Dark Blue/Black Undershirt
>Red Sleeveless Shirt
>Green Scarf
Use this as home team colour, and invert it for our away team colour (with the exception of the shoes and scarf that stay green). A good backup idea to have if we don't agree on a different uniform.
>>
>>6446039
I'ma be real I totally forgot this thing existed. Yea I'd support their nomination I suppose. Still got a few days on that strawpoll so we'll see what happens overall!
>>6446044
To be fair a lot of 'em have also been participating for a while now, so hopefully we can get to that level in time! Good source of inspiration though, right?
>>6446268
This might not be a bad deal either--color scheme doesn't sound that bad to me!
>>
>>6446044
To be fair, even the /v/alkans have entire genres of games to work off of for roster inspiration. The closest comparison here is /vmg/ which has some overlap with /vg/ since that board is very mobile game heavy as it is, but even /vmg/ has non-gacha games it borrows a lot from. I think the closest comparison /qst/ has in terms of roster potential is something like [s4s] or /bant/. Unlike other boards about specific hobbies, the rosters for those boards are almost entirely self-contained memes, but they're also more active and have been around much longer than this board.

>>6446039
Like the other anon said, this could work both for a player and for a kit/team color ideas. Probably Red/Blue with green accents for a kit and then Light Brown/Light Green from the sword/shield. To be honest, you could probably even use the shield as a potential logo idea. A triple coat of arms behind it too (the wooden sword, a pencil for the writing aspect of quests, and a brush for the drawing aspect.)
>>
Hey all, just a few updates! I'm still going through the process of the whole Manager thing--will let y'all know how that develops. Things are busy with the Summer Cup.

As for the Strawpoll that >>6445908 made, it looks like some folks would prefer a few specific quest characters in the roster. This is where things get tricky since there are only so many positions open on the team and the flagship roster will be tight enough as-is.

>>6445908
Per what this anon said, this would give the characters about 16-17 POTENTIAL slots on the team, meaning they will be thrown in with the aforementioned meme/other stuff we've already talked about.

In short: looks like folks want to include characters into the team roster vote. They will be pitted against the stuff we discussed already.

Per the strawpoll post, though (and I think it's pretty reasonable) I agree and endorse that we should stick to the following restrictions:
>Max one character per QM/Universe
>They can be from an old quest or new quest as long as they get endorsed by others
>This roster WILL update over time, so if a character doesn't get in they can join the roster at a later date.

Feel free to discuss if you don't agree--just know that I'm basing this off of the strawpoll results as of today.

What I need from Y'ALL is to do the following:
>1) Post some character recommendations! A short description's not a bad idea for folks who might not know them!
>2) Endorse any characters you'd want to see in the final roster vote!
>3) If you've endorsed someone already, please link to that post again now with any changes if need be!

Almost there, folks! GET IN THERE!
>>
>>6447137
Well then, nominating Rosa Montagni as a player!
She's a half-orc half-goblin con artist who got roped into saving her home, which is a former pocket prison universe. She does it for profit... and family too, it seems.
Just make her green and get her a wide cowboy hat, maybe ponytail if that level of detail is possible.

As for other quests' characters I endorse... there needs to be at least one Blue Monke. And maybe a Greta.
>>
>>6447137
An easy list of QST characters worthy of nomination would be all the finalists of the King/Queen of Quest tournament.
Four from each, and you've immediately filled half of the potential slots.
>>
>>6447137
I'd say that the inevitable Space Monke representative should simply be named 'Space Monke'; with the character model being varied between different Supremes from the quest depending upon either our kit alternates or who we're playing. We might roll out the model for Vantix Garastra against /sci/, Qet Scholiander against /an/, Kinja Dulioan against /tv/, Talacent Intari against /int/, Eoba II against /tg/ or Wrix Val against /pol/.
>>
>>6447630
Have we really produced nothing of value in two years?
>>
>>6447630
I'm cool with this if it keeps things moving.
>>6447640
This could be cool, but I think crafting the models for the characters takes some real time and effort - generally if a player has their model changed it's after a couple of years or more, not by game, and with the elimination rules we can't guarantee we'd be up against any of those teams. I can't model though, so whoever volunteers for that labor will need to decide if they wanna go the extra miles.
>>6447705
Well, I think it's more that those characters at least already have some established consensus/popularity that's relatively recent, so you can expect an absolute minimum of grumbling at their inclusion. What new characters since then would you want to also pitch for inclusion?
>>
>>6447630
I'll add 'em to the nomination list, yea! Still want to give folks a chance to vote on the final roster. I'll take a look at 'em later and double-check who the winners were in those cases
>>
>>6447728
Argia from Silver Knight, Anton from Dark Quest, The Mask from Concrete Stratosphere, Swordboy, Date from Great Therapist Evangelion (with a date for a face), and probably someone from Spelldivers. All these are pretty popular and uncontroversial quests. There are others I would recommend except that they are more niche or divisive.
>>
>>6447790
I would back up most of those with the exception of Swordboy, not because he isn't well liked but because there's just very little of him - both threads were abandoned, the second after only two updates, three maybe? I think it opens the door to including characters from one-offs and half-complete quests that are too numerous, personally, and we should probably require a thread of at least 300 posts. I don't remember how long the first thread went, so maybe he does clear that bar, but idk, as much as I like the design and the QM, it feels particularly Flash In The Pan.
>>
Nominating (I recognize some of these are from the same QM; I think there should be a max of 1 per quest in the voting stage and then 1 per QM in the final roster, to let people pick their favorite option):

>Mik from Banished Quest

>Hive Queen Quest
>A Moloch quest
>A RQM quest

This might be too soon to bring up, but have you thought about potential ball/stadium ideas?
>>
>>6447851
NEVER too soon if you ask me! We're still on page 1 so I forsee this thread staying up for a while. I'm not so sure how stadiums work or how they're made in the game, but it wouldn't hurt to consider, no.
>>6447838
Excellent, excellent--this is what I like to see! Greentext makes these nominations SO much easier to read! And yes please give out specific names of people you support/nominate... it'll make putting them all into the final roster vote a whole lot easier!
>>6447808
This desu. I was an avid swordboydigan for a while but I don't feel inclined to endorse them when they seem to dip out often without a notice. No offense to swordQM, I just would rather shine a light on characters who are more active or, like Slouch said, aren't so 'Flash in the Pan'.
>>
>>6447851
Stadiums should be located in familiar /qst/ locations.
>>
>>6447808
That's a good point, and the next anon reminded me of a better option...

I will back you up on that too. I didn't play Digimon but that story was going for as long as I've been here kek, and it's one of the rare tales to get a beginning, middle, AND end. Plus lots of great art!

>>Solarpunk Cleanup Quest? I hesitate to nominate the MC because her visual design is 1:1 a Limbus Company character
I've also been hesitating to nominate Fiona for that reason, but as someone who has 3d modelling experience and friends in the /vg/ 4cc circle, I could adapt a Don model and give her unique elements and pass over the final result fully proper for the format.
Or we could abandon all notion that the representative of each quest has to be the QMC and have Zephyr be the Solarpunk rep. I can see the static tree model doing a bicycle kick for the goal to 30 Seconds to Mars right now.
>>
>>6447893
You could dress her up in the runner up outfit from the last batch of tourneys.
>>
>>6447895
I was thinking her lignum vitae Green Knight armor without the helmet. Some almost medieval armor with a wood material is far from too much to ask.
>>
>>6445099
Well since consensus just changed, I would like to REnominate Chrysidius Carabid (or just Chrys) from monstergirl facility quest. She is a bug girl who is 4 feet tall (dont make fun of her height) can fly and shoot acid from her hands and she likes reading in her spare time. She is very nice and has the honor of being first girl in the quest.

Teams only really have on stadium to be fair, aside for /vg/ and /vt/ (who change stadiums based on the results of their own respective leagues) and also /mlp/ (special case). I think there are also a few case of of teams who either do or have formerly shared stadiums, such as /his/ sharing both The Colosseum with /lit/ and the Battleship Bismark with /k/, and /an/ sharing the 100 Acre Wood with (the currently inactive) /out/.

One of the other things worth considering is whether the stadium should be something referencing a specific quest or if it should be something more meta, something related to the act of quest creation/hosting maybe. It might be worth drawing a vote on which would be preferable and also taking suggestions for both.

It's probably for the best to make something overarching for the whole board. The lobby of an Adventurer's Guild could maybe work thematically, it would just be about making it look good.

Maybe they're playing on the counter itself (sort of like the beginning of the Smash Bros. intro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIwWCioBpEM ), with the mandatory cute guild receptionist behind them. Means we could also hang a questboard on the wall behind her to either advertise currently active quests or use it to showcase the quests our players come from.
>>
>>6447961
The idea of being themed around an adventurer's guild is cool as fuck. Especially with active quests being portrayed on the sidelines, could potentially give some representation to those not on the team or an alternative to having active quest reps to avoid the roster become too much of a revolving door.

The idea of them playing on the counter is fun too, especially since some teams already have stadiums that are portrayed as being on a table/counter (/wg/'s Battlestation, /tv/'s Best of the Worst Arena, the inactive /ck/'s Benuldy's Pub). The pitch itself could probably even be textured as if it wear a map folded out across the counter, with some of the active quests shown as locations/bounties on it. If nothing else, this is definitely the direction I think the stadium concept should go.
>>
>>6447977
>The idea of being themed around an adventurer's guild is cool as fuck. Especially with active quests being portrayed on the sidelines
If we use an adventurer's guild lobby, there could be a bounty board with mugshots of the gold and silver players on our team.
>>
>>6447851
>>6447927
Perhaps, in reference to the board's origins, we should state that we'll share 'The Magical Realm' with /tg/ until we get a pitch of our own? I imagine that a pitch would take a lot more effort to design then any single player, and this would take any time pressure off the poor sod who decides to commit to building us one.

>>6447977
>>6447980
An Adventurer's guild is a really cool idea, though. Providing we can find someone to build one...

I'll probably put together a Strawpoll for the final roster this weekend--want to give people more time to nominate and it's been a rough couple of weeks on my end so I'll admit I'm dragging a bit. Alright punks... it's TIME. I've tried to toss in a boatload of nominations here and I gotta say--it's a bit of a doozy!

You can find the Strawpoll below! Please vote for as many of the options as you like--I'll close the Strawpoll FRIDAY, AUGUST 14TH! Might keep it open longer though if circumstances arise.

IMPORTANT: Please remember this is intended to be a celebration of the board! If your pick doesn't win, don't fret--they might be cycled into the next team roster! Unfortunately there are only 23 POSITIONS so we all have to make some sacrifices.

Needless to say, any skullduggery, cheating, gaming, or mischief will be considered a dick move. Please do not try to game the system.

THE STRAWPOLL YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR:
https://strawpoll.com/PKgleM3qRZp
Get voting! If you have any last-minute additions you'd like to nominate, tell me SOONER rather than LATER as editing the Strawpoll erases all votes!

Also feel free to continue discussing ideas like stadiums, uniforms, balls, anthems, etc! We're still on page 1, folks!
>>
>>6450055
I had some ideas for anthems and goalhorns, but I think it's a bit difficult to decide considering we don't particularly have music that's iconic for the entire board. Some QMs do post music that accompanies their updates to bring a certain vibe to the quest, but it's hardly an universal thing. So, I'm going by the funkiness of the song or the vibe.
>Anthem
https://youtu.be/tMXwluMcGrg
Rokatanc - It's upbeat, it gets straight to the point and it brings up an image of knights jousting, crowds of commoners cheering and shit being done. Fits the various medieval and fantasy quests.
>Goal Horn
https://youtu.be/Har-Y--77mY
IT'S AN OMEN! Exciting, fast-pace, well known. And it's a nice contrast to the anthem. Could represent the various sci-fi quests that exist on the board. Maybe doesn't have much to do with us, but fuck it, I think we should adopt it. Besides, the writing's on the wall? That kinda fits us.
>Victory Anthem
https://youtu.be/oi3QmAmrG6M
THE KNIGHTS OF CYDONIA. In a final twist, it's a combination of fantasy and sci-fi, or really, any type of genre on this board. And it's a good fucking song whose lyrics and sound really bring out the creativity of this small but beautiful board.

Of course, I think we could also have some special goalhorns for different players, but I would leave that discussion for later, when the vote is done and our players are picked.
>>
>>6450055
I don't know if these should be considered since they haven't had a thread in a long time but I'll nominate Ace Paxton from Mystery Investigation Quest and Galrick from Tales of Thulzar. I'll throw this in the ring, while Karn wouldn't be opposed to joining such an event, one of his children would definitely be the one who'd want to participate above everyone else. She's a champion, after all, and would want to represent her universe. Even if her powers are heavily restricted and she couldn't fly or use telekinesis.

Hey hey! Update time! Getting more info from some of the organizers about getting our team into the Friendlies Matches in September--hopefully we can get stuff sorted by then. Will let you know what I hear from the organizers!

On a separate note, Strawpoll's still live, folks! And remember: you can vote for as many nominees as you like! Unfortunately I might not have been able to get in the latecomers since editing the poll wipes all vote data, but if you're interested in nominating folks for future lineups then please keep 'em in mind when the time comes!

Hope the process of becoming a certified manager goes well. I know that some players on a team get 'medals' to improve their performance, I assume we'll be giving the golds to the highest voted players (QM curse and /qst/-Tan) and the Silvers to Ruby/Charlotte/?Stanley? (cant recall if we get two or three silvers). Do we need to think about specific positions for specific players, or is that something that you as manager take care of?

Clearly Dice God should be the goalkeeper so we can easily blame him when the other team scores, with the Archive and Best of 3 being centre defenders. I'm also going to again shill my perferred idea that Dice God should be depicted as a genie rather than as Jesus. I just think it's better.

>>6454421
Ah I see, just checked it. However considering /qst/ is a offshoot from /tg/ it wouldnt be too outrageous to share one detail on the logo with them. Plus I think the design you made contrasts enough with /tg/ that it shouldnt be confusing for newcomers. Plus I think d6s just makes it look like a gambling board rather than a rpg board. Kudos for the design keep it up!
>>
>>6454403
I think they're good as isโ€” the lighting and natural flow of the eye make them read in QST order well enough

>>6454424
I actually prefer the d6es as wellโ€” plenty of RPGs use them, and having 3 dice is a nice homage to the popular Bo3 rolling system we use here. The sword and shield make it clearly about questing and such while the non-d20 dice help separate us from the imagery of a tabletop rpg
>>
>>6454391
I think this combined with the idea of using elements of the /qst/-tan shield like >>6452653 suggested would probably make the perfect logo
>>
>>6454438
/qst/-tan is a dated concept and utterly retarded. The colors are absolutely awful-- we should be BOLD AND DRAMATIC.
I like >>6454391. Whatever gripes there are about the dice, I think aesthetic matters just as much as symbolizing the board.
>>
>>6454438
I think /qst/tan is kinda cute and I like this anon's concept >>6452653

Mostly just a quick concept for today so I'm more than happy to try a few different things and post them here to see what you all think

>>
>>6454464
yeah this is cool
>>
>>6454464
Love the design - dice, the swords and the motto. I'd say perhaps it could use a bit more colour to it? Either the dice could have some colouration to them, or they could be on a coloured shield background; because right now they're white on white.
>>
>>6454621
>>6454464
The dice being coloured to stand out against the plain white of the shield would be good, yes. Probably do all three in seperate colours too for best effect.
>>
>>6454624
I would put them in red, green, and blue as a formatting options thing.
Though I'd also consider d10s since 2d10 is the poor man's form of how you roll a d100 and that's one I see a lot personally, though those may be less aesthetic.
>>
>>6454464
This looks fantastic! I like the colors as well--almost tempted to use those as our team colors! I think 'Wat Do' might not be a bad 'mantra' or slogan either.

On slightly-related news, questers, WE MIGHT HAVE A GAME SCHEDULED! SEPTEMBER 18th in a Friendlies Match against... /u/! Holy crackers!

In order to do so, however, here's a 'checklist' of what must be completed (mainly to help me organize my shit too)
>1) All 23 Players must be modeled. Current Goal: Flat faces with some kind of image on them. Crazier stuff can come later.
>2) Team uniform kits for HOME and AWAY GAMES. Generally HOME should incorporate our TEAM COLORS. This can be put together at this link:
https://www.pesmaster.com/kit-creator/beta/
>3) Models and players have to be tested in the game, need to divvy up 'medals' and skills for each.
>4) An ANTHEM or two for HOME and AWAY matches. Can just be a youtube link.
>5) Goalhorn sound! Again, can be a youtube link!
>6) A stadium idea! We discussed doing some kind of Adventurer Guild, but again I'd recommend we keep things simple for now--if you have ideas for a simple design lemme know! I will pitch this to the Aesthetics Committee since it's a tall order and putting together a stadium is fucking insane from what I've seen on the tutorials.

That's your update for now! Really excited for our first match--let's really GIVE IT TO 'EM, questies
>>
>>6454664

>1 - Models
Could I ask you which players are sort of sorted already vs which ones still need an image? Might help us focus any hunt.

>4 - Anthem
https://youtu.be/uQ4Z-dpVgjw

>5 - Goalhorns
We have suggestions for QM curse https://youtu.be/DIdRb56dRt0?t=39
and Ruby https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qObzgUfCl28&t=50s

Perhaps we could use https://youtu.be/8y6sONFwOSw?t=11
As a generic goal horn or one for /qst/-tan?

And https://youtu.be/YjJONLPzGfY for Stanley Parble?

>6 - Stadium
I'd say the simplest solution is just to use /tg/'s stadium as a ground share until we get our own stadium made up, to represent our board's origin.
>>
>>6454697
Good ideas and questions. For the models we're still working on them all, but I'd focus on the ones that don't have preexisting pictures like a lot of the quest characters do. The meme characters, for example, could use some more brainstorming since specific quest characters are easy enough to find some images of!

Great ideas for the song and goalhorns. As for the stadium I'm unsure of how sharing goes so we'll see--might not be a bad idea in the short term, though.

I don't think we ever confirmed the colors, but generally-speaking it looks like teams choose two. A quick glance at other teams tells me that /bant/ has a grey/blue scheme, /h/ has a blue/white scheme, /i/ has light and baby blue, /int/ has white and blue, and /jp/ also has white and blue.

We might have to consider different colors. Obviously there's gonna be overlap, but yea.
>>6454720
Stanley was the protagonist of my first quest--it's about skeletons taking over a seaside town in bumfuck California.
>>
>>6454843
Whoops, almost forgot! This looks RADICAL, man! Great use of colors and just a cool-ass logo over all! I guess we still need to finalize the shield and logo colors, but this is looking fantastic!
>>
>>6454854
Hrm, was gonna recommend red and green, but Yaoi seems to have nabbed it. Maybe red and a midtone cyan? Kind of a mix between blue and green, which neatly fits all 3 color formatting options into a two color palette
>>
>>6454854
Obviously we should go with mystical colours like maybe purple and black, or something golden perhaps (as we are the most illustrious board)
>>
>>6454858
>>6454854
I like the idea of Cyan, though I'm not too keen on Red. Perhaps use Cyan and Steel as the colours?

Since I'm not a sportsball enthusiast I went smurfing around on FIFA's official website to see what rules were in place for uniform designs and found this in an article detailing the uniform acceptance procedure:
>In November 2025, FIFA sent a letter to the qualified countries (and those still competing for a berth) requesting a formal registration of team colours: first-choice and alternate kits, third kits if desired, and a minimum of three goalkeeper options. >>>There must be one clear โ€œdarkโ€ kit and another obvious โ€œlightโ€ kit<<<
Which means the two suggested kits of Purple/Black and White/Gold would be perfectly acceptable choices for team since they'd fall in to those two categories and be distinct enough in colour from one other to allow at least one of them to be used in a match, regardless of the other team's colours. Wether or not it should be the final selection is up for debate, but it should work as substitute kits until an actual design + colour combination is agreed on.

'Battle Hymn' >>6453554
literally states 'Victory' at many points so it'd make a good Victory Anthem.

'Holding out for a Hero' would make a great Goalhorn for any of our character players who don't end up with a specific goalhorn of their own.

>>6450085
I think Rokatanc would make a good 'chant' to play at random intervals during our matches.

Knights of Cydonia seems a good sort of theme to play if we're down at half time, or if we're facing penalties.

I spent a lot of today after work messing around with our tools to get our team up and running. Sweat was shed. Snap Pea Crisps were eaten. Coffee was imbibed.

I'm not gonna lie, everyone--the system to make additions to the 4cc? Tricky business. I'm no modeler and barely have a grasp on basic intelligence... but after some wrestling with a dozen tools and some brutal compromises, I think I've made a breakthrough:

One thing we could also consider - player numbers! Some (not most or even all) players on a team are often given numbers with some relevance or amusement. For example, Yotsuba on /a/ is 404 (after the 4chan 404 not found page), on /tg/ Doomrider is 6 (the number of Slaneesh) and /his/ has Taft on 27 (27th president), Bomber Harris on '45 as a WWII reference, 'More Wives your Grace' on 6 as a reference to Henry VIII's 6 wives, and this is just a short sample.

To that end, some sugestions:
Either Number 28,4 or 16 or some combo thereof for /qst/-tan, as the board was created on 28 4 2016

Number 1 for First Girl Syndrome

Number 7 for Ruby, she was subject 7 in her Quest

Number 8 for Ate

Number 20 for Dice God/RN Jesus

Number 3 or 333 for best of 3

I also had an idea--since some of these players have the box head, what if we put something on the sides of their head besides a white box? Looking neat!

So, do you think we're in a position to confirm Cyan/Steel (or Steel/Cyan) as our official team colours?

Because I think it's a nice looking combo on the kit, and it's pretty close to our badge now that our badge got that steely centre filling to go with the swords and the light blue trimming.

It also goes well with the theme of an adventurer or a questing knight; the steel of the weapon (and perhaps the armour), whilst the bright blue shade shows that we're intended as Heroic.

(And conversely, our away kit of black and purple is well suited as the archetypical colours of a Dark Knight or Spec-Ops Merc archetype - not all adventurers are Heroes, especially when far from home!)

This won't stop the possibility of other kits, and other alternate away kits of many other colour schemes if we so choose; but by fixing the 'main' colours we'd know what we have to play around with.

(Also, perhaps if Steel is one of our main colours, we could someday get an alternate kit that's our players clanking around and playing a match in a full suit of armour...)

But what does everyone else think? Any objections?

Player Stats are in the works which means once we get that figured out all that really remains are aesthetics. I have some ideas for a few players thanks to you stalwart anons:

>Waifu War: >>6456565 or basically some kind of soldiery gal
>>6454297 this for Dice God? Certainly works with the box head design.
Still need design ideas for:
>Best Of 3
>QM Quest Master (Though I recall we were considering using the DM from the D&D Cartoon)
>/qst/-tan if anyone has anything they'd like to revamp on them
>The Flake
>Samefag--we discussed this guy a little bit, maybe multiple faces on the box head?
>Generic Civ Thread, but I think I can just grab that one template image and paste it
>/qst/ Janny
>The Archive/LordLicorice
>First Girl Syndrome
>Pastebin Smut (maybe a pastebin page but pixeled out?)

Anywho, would love to have some weigh-ins on these designs by THE END OF THIS COMING WEEK. Want to get our export in with time to spare! Apologies if it's been erratic--still wrapping my head around all this crap. Luckily, folks, you have a crack team of selfless volunteers who have been tackling stats, art, modeling, and more, so please give them a hand when you get the chance!

Here's the boxhead template again just in case: could still use some pics of some of the quest characters on the roster like how >>6455986
we got Ate here. Otherwise I'll just be grabbing images at random! Spooooooky!

Had some good ideas for goalhorns and victory anthems--I figure we can do these and The Impossible Dream for our overall anthem?

I assume we're going to try and get custom models done eventually? I'm unfortunately not talented so I can't contribute anything other than ideas, and most of them are better as proper models rather than box heads.

>Best Of 3
If we can snatch the three dice from Observer's Logo it should do nicely for the boxhead. For a custom model it should definitely be three big dice sprinting about.
>QM Quest Master (Though I recall we were considering using the DM from the D&D Cartoon)
If the character from the D&D Cartoon isn't already in use we should definitely use it, slap that image of him spewing magic out of his hands on the box as a start. Alternatively Yen Sid is a good character to base the QM on.
>The Flake
Use the same model as the QM, but it's running away from a table with your typical DnD setup on it (books, GM screen, character sheets etc) for a custom model. For a boxhead I have no clue.
>Samefag--we discussed this guy a little bit, maybe multiple faces on the box head?
Have it represented by five anons standing in formation like the Delightful Children from Down the Lane, but each in different colours to represent the different IP's. Maybe also have a floating speech bubble above them where they all say "I vote for X" or something similar. For a boxhead you can just slap the afformentioned DCFDTL on the box I guess.

Key word is 'eventually', yea--it's been a bit of an adventure getting models to work at all and the folks who do know how to model are doing it on their own time and dime, so will I say we'll eventually get better models? Yes. Will we get them by the time this match happens? Probably not.

Good news is that there are people we can politely request to put stuff together for us, so in the future if we stick with this we can probably get a stadium going among other things. Until then, though, my most immediate goal is getting a team together that's ready for a match and won't crash the game! Fingers crossed!

>Best O 3
I like this idea, yea. Maybe altered slightly so they aren't clearly just the die from our logo, but yea.
>QM
Ooh, didn't consider Yen Sid! I will double-check that /tg/ didn't grab the Dungeon Master first... worst case we can do Yen Sid or Merlin or something from, like, The Sword in the Stone. Or some other Quest Master idea..
>Flake
Yea in the short-term for a boxhead it might be trickier... maybe a frosted flake or something? I would steer clear of a snowflake for obvious reasons.
>Samefag
I dig these ideas. Something to keep in mind when we have time to model, yes!

Could probably use a box of cornflakes for the Flake boxhead if we've got no ideas at all for it.

I'd recommend a Cadbury's Flake, since they're just called 'Flake'.

Good suggestion here too! Thanks!

Two questions!

1: Generic Goalhorn. 'Holding out for a Hero' was mentioned, but if we go for the song, were we decided on any specific version?
https://youtu.be/CPK2HwYzjkA was of course the original by Bonnie Tyler, but there's also
https://youtu.be/dLHCS6oL7lo?t=2 ,
https://youtu.be/egLoz_DPQ8E ,
https://youtu.be/Nx-x_1lIXh4
and probably half a hundred more. Are there any style/version preferences?

2: We have a Logo now, but I think we also need a smaller Icon to go along with it and attach to wiki links and such? The Requirements say 50x50, though most actual uses seem to be 25x25.
>>
>>6457885
1) I DO like the Shrek version, but I also really dig the original. Will defer to what other folks think.
2) That'd help a lot, yes--I can always shrink the logo we have to that size, but if there's a more eloquent way to do it I'm all for it!

Also shit yes we need to use the face you just posted
>>
>>6457885
Personally I like the energy of the dArtagnan version the most, especially if we're doing the chorus for a goalhorn, but any of the first three should do nicely.
>>
>>6457754
For generic Civ thread, just grabbing the template image and posting it makes the most sense. You could just make that the full player - hide whatever remains of the actual player model body, and just have a full player-sized version of the generic template waggling down the field as the all and the everything that we see.

Since LordLicorice uses these guys as his icon on the front page of https://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/, perhaps something like a 3D model of one of the dinos?

Saving these. I was considering the Bubble Bobble folks based on LL's posts, yea. Keep 'em comin', folks! Thank you especially for using the template!

Ask and ye shall receive. It'll probably take a while to chew through these models, but the ideas here really help.
