Welcome, /qst/ers, to the thread where we make /qst/ history... and get our board into the widely-acclaimed 4cc!>What is it?The 4cc is a website-spanning series of competitions in which teams representing different boards are entered into computer-driven Soccer (or Football) tournaments using the game Pro Evolution Soccer! You've probably seen it happen on other boards and maybe even saw a few matches! If not, here's a few clips to peruse:https://isthisliv.com/booru/posts/query=video>Why do we need a thread for this, you buffoon?Good question! See, the 4cc is all about representing and celebrating boards--many teams have custom models for their players and some have even contributed designs for arenas and other assets! The process is a bit of a pain in the neck, so in the short term I wanted to make a place where people could suggest /qst/'s players and what position they might play. Don't know anything about Soccer Positions? Check out an explanation HERE: https://www.orlandocitysc.com/news/soccer-101-positions-within-positionsSecondly, I wanted to gauge actual interest in our board joining the 4cc in the first place. If we managed to brainstorm a full team by September, we might even be able to play in the September Friendlies! Once we're in, well, the sky's the limit! Also it'd be fun to watch, so.>Neato! How do I help? There's quite a few ways, actually! If you're into modeling stuff there's a tutorial page on making custom player models here: https://implyingrigged.info/wiki/Blender_tutorials#PES16/17 It's a bit much so I don't blame you if you don't want to take a swing at it.What you CAN do, though, yes, YOU, is answer the following questions!>1) Do you have a nominee for a /qst/ player? They can be a current/past /qst/ character or some kind of in-joke as long as it'd be a good representation of /qst/!>2) What position do you think they should play? You can say 'I dunno' if you don't know--no worries!>3) Do you think /qst/ should join the 4cc? Why or why not?Note that nominating someone is just that--a NOMINATION. Ultimately we'll need about 23 players for a full team--please voice your support for someone's nomination if you dig it! I'll be lingering to discuss and answer questions, but here's hoping we can put something together!
>>6444262>>1) Do you have a nominee for a /qst/ player? They can be a current/past /qst/ character or some kind of in-joke as long as it'd be a good representation of /qst/!I nominate DemBones!!
>>6444263Vetoed I suck at sports
>>6444264Counterveto, you are great at games
Right, here's a screenshot I took of a general team outline. Yes, yes, I know it's /i/, but bear with me here. As mentioned above, a team usually consists of about 23 PLAYERS! Not a sum to sneeze at! That means we have quite a bit of wiggleroom, though, so if you have an idea for someone, be they from an old-ass quest or a new one, plop it in here and let's discuss!
>>6444262I have no specific nominations in mind for players, but I am excited to see this on the board and would be happy to contribute to the custom player modeling effort!
But wait, there's MORE!First of all, take a look HERE if you want to check out the 4cc Wiki for info and whatnot:https://implyingrigged.info/wiki/Main_PageSecondly, apparently teams can choose their official ANTHEMS, VICTORY ANTHEMS, and GOAL HORNS to boot, so if you have any ideas or nominations for that shit you can put it in here too!Thirdly, I have a nomination for one of the players that I think HAS to be in--up for discussion, obviously, but it's a classic:>Ruby from Ruby Quest
>>6444262>nominee/position>that one blonde from DQR>MERRYGATE>Stanley ParbleJoke nomination: the ever-classic d100 as defensePlease no notorious trolls to represent /qst/. They don't deserve further acclaim/notoriety.
>>6444278Agreed. Fuck em. Would prefer to keep things positive if anything since this'll be a window into our little slice of Heaven/Hell that is /qst/ for people who watch the 4cc
>>6444275I will enthusiastically also support ruby from ruby quest
Players don't have to be specific characters, and given the impact of anime quests as a whole, I nominate a character concept that I like to call: Anime Quest Self-Insert ProtagIt would cover a lot of ground as a representative, there have been no shortage of DBZ, Naruto, Bleach etc. quests throughout the years. The model could be an amalgamation of traits from all those series like super saiyan hair, naruto headband and such to really capture the OC donut steel vibeI'd also push for them to be a medaled striker, but that's just my personal bias speaking>>6444278That's no joke nomination though, the team wouldn't be representative of quests if there was no player to represent rolling. I'd call the player "Roll 1d100" and make them goalie
>>6444262I should at least propose the QM Curse as a player, if only because it has claimed the lives of many a quest. It's THE ultimate killer of /qst/, and we should honor it...
I'm not much fond of directly naming people but I do have a suggestion that covers a concept but also a person. If you know you know, the Flake Snake. His own identifier, not a term of derision.
Some iteration of this slapped on a guy's face, we'll call him 'Generic Civ Quest' or something of the like. For specific characters, ones I have played as that I think deserve it off the dome: >Mark Delucia >Karn >Argia Candente >RosaOnes I have heard enough about that they also probably deserve it: >Ruby >Stanley >Anya For how much I have seen /qst/ players complain about women MC's they do constitute a lot of the classics... Other meme ideas: >QM Curse >Burnout >Samefag >GOOD Fantasy Quest >Not Another Isekai >>6444299I like the self-insert anime idea, and with 1d100 I would go further and have it be 1d100 BO3 since that mechanic is so common it's become a trope, basically. >>6444306I'm down for some kind of reference to the flaking phenomenon, we have a big roster to fill out.
And we ought to drop archive links in the chat corresponding to a character when they score (if they score), and be thinking of some other stuff like that we can do to show some board pride and support, yaknow?
Good news, everyquester! I was able to track down (with the help of the fine folks on the /4ccg/) a site where you can put together your own UNIFORMS for Pro Evolution Soccer!https://www.pesmaster.com/kit-creator/beta/>>6444281Okay so I think it's safe to say that Ruby should be in? I see a lot of other suggestions too--keep em' comin'! Good shit thus far!
Gag characters should if possible be kept to a minimum so we can focus on getting actual quest representation in first, and that representation should probably be either related to quests that are active and long running if possible, or characters that are recognizable enough either from the /tg/ days or someone that has had a large impact on the board and it's culture (aka characters like Ruby from Ruby Quest though I personally started reading quests with Magical Girl Noir, Ruby Quest was the big one back in the day.)Some characters for consideration:- A Knight is Sworn to Valour: Full plate knight with massive plumage on his helmet with a sword and a shield with Emile's heraldry on it, representing Sworn to Valour of course. Alternative costumes could see him helmetless and accompanied by the Angel on his shoulder. His Heart Knows Only Virtue, His Blade Defends the Helpless, His Might Upholds the Weak. Perfect as a defender.- Blair d'Rusalka: The main character of the Fire Emblem Three Houses quest, currently on it's sequel at the moment. Got some really good art of her that can be used as reference for model making. Can either be modeled on foot or mounted on her Pegasus steed. Midfielder should be good for her since she was a mix between a spellcaster and melee fighter. Can alternatively be swapped with Tristain d'Rusalka (no relation), the main character from the sequel.- Any character from the Skeleton Island series, the QM of said quest having run drawquests since before this board was a thing. I am partial for the lovable goofball Quattro del Petto (since it would be funny to laugh when he fucks up), or Rasputin (who is really cool) but any of the main siblings or their lieutenants will make good candidates. Position would wary based on who is selected.- A character from Panzer Commander: Tanq, like OP of Skeleton Island, have run his quest basically since day one of the board, and I think that deserves inclusion. Sloucho already nominated Anya, but I think it would be funnier if we had Richter's head sticking out of his m/32 tank instead. Panzer vor, Striker is his role.>>6444299>I'd call the player "Roll 1d100" and make them goaliePersonally I would call the goalie "Dice God" and have them depicted as some sort of djinn or a genie (รก la Aladdin's genie), with the torso and up visible and chad like in apperance while he's floating on a cloud or his lower body otherwise being immaterial somehow. Give him a hat in the shape of a D6 or D20 for style. This is probably the only gag character I would support upfront before we've filled out as many spots as possible with actual quest characters.
>>6444378These are fantastic suggestions, anon! Love the extra details you provided--from my understanding there's a bunch of people who help make assets for teams that can be begged for assistance, so the more details the better, frankly. Keep that shit up!
>>6444378>Gag characters should if possible be kept to a minimum so we can focus on getting actual quest representation in firstI have mixed feelings on this, honestly. On the one hand, I do want to elevate and spotlight quests, obviously. On the other hand(s), memes are the standard for most of the teams and we will want a strong repping of our board's memes because that's our culture, and will intrigue people in some cases even more than a particular OC that, frankly, none of the viewers will have reference for. While the nature of this board does allow us to populate the roster with original characters, and they should be included, I think we should be willing to assimilate here a bit. Also, meme players will be more relatable to ALL /qst/ players than specific character players - everyone on the board will feel a connection to QM Curse that only some of us will with Mark Delucia, or even Ruby. I am one of the more active players on the board these days and I have never even read Ruby, honestly, not that it means I think she hasn't earned a slot. Another thing to consider is that once you are past the 6-8 characters that just about all of us know and can agree have left a big mark on the history/culture, it'll get kinda quibbley. Most active quests hover around 3-5 voters now. It may be difficult to pick and choose quicker than we think, and some QMs might feel slighted if their characters don't make the cut for reasons that ultimately feel arbitrary, and honestly I don't even know how we would evaluate after a certain point. This is all just my perspective, and it's influenced by my being both a newcomer and an active QM but even more active player. Maybe it would be fun or interesting to have slots on the roster reserved that can be changed to different characters bi-annually, and we do some kind of competition or tournament on the board, similar to the old king/queen tourney, in order to pick the ones that get that spotlight? Could do like 8 maybe, that's about a third of the team, leaves 15 full-timers to settle on, which should include our captain and goalie, I think.
>>6444386Yeah choosing characters sounds like it will be a pain to represent fairly. Ruby is fair enough since she is THE og, and a high quality one too. However do we ignore the current oc's or stick to the classic ones from over 5 ish years ago? I do get some people want to give more recent qm's their fair share. That said I wish to nominate Christoff from Seeker quest by Dolomite miss him, I loved chalcocithic quest
>>6444392I've only had the pleasure of one Dolomite quest, but I see the guy as being a real board staple in a way and knew immediately something of his deserves to be included. I have never played Do Your Best but that also seems to have such an intense legacy and genuinely impressive art. I barely skimmed one thread and still I am so used to the thumbnails it would be hard for me to deny that I see it as a feature of the board, like a sticky almost, yaknow?
>>6444386This isn't a bad idea either, actually--choose some full-timers and swap out the remainder to keep things interesting... I can get behind that, yea
>>6444386Rotating cast would be super cool, honestly. I personally like the idea of characters since they usually have cooler designs vs memes (which can be pretty abstract), but I see what you all mean when you say that a lot of quests are kind of isolated and the character's aren't really board-wide things. I think some kind of rotating lineup would be a great compromise if we get this off the ground.>>6444378These are super cool ideas. Dice god is a classic
>>6444397>I personally like the idea of characters since they usually have cooler designs vs memesHow about we use the memes as the guys who get benched? would be really funny for the flake meme to never be available.
>>6444409kekIf you have to show Flake QM as a player I would just make it a regular player but with invisible/transparent skin so he's just a shirt and shorts or however that works in the engine.
I don't like the idea of nominating specific quest characters unless the quest is objectively historically notable (e.g. Rubyquest). It just seems ripe for shitflinging and hurt feelings. Maaaaybe we could do some memes from old dead quests if we don't have enough ideas for current ones.>>6444305>>6444278No way Charlotte could even wrap her head around the rules of soccer. Also, DQR had, like, 5 players, so isn't even close to representative of the board as a whole.
>>6444396>>6444397Most teams keep a pretty static roster, but will swap a meme here and there if something really significant happens between tournaments that all the posters can get behind and feel proud of. Because our board is naturally low on memes (almost all the threads are their own games with their own worlds and rules, so no uniformity of 'culture') but high in OC's, I feel like having a chunk of the team rotate. The /qtg/ just doesn't produce enough material to populate the team with memes, and I am on board with basically all the quest characters pitched so far but must admit I haven't even heard about maybe a quarter of them. Let's knuckle down on an idea for a rotating roster. Let's ASSUME it will be 8 slots, but be open to expanding that if we get stumped trying to put down the other 15 static players. How do we pick these 8? I have the basic shape of an idea. A thread, run like a quest by a Referee or Coach QM, in the style of a tournament. We can call it tryouts. I think restrictions should be simple like, the quest needs at least one thread with 300+ posts behind it, could be a One-Shot, and the QM should be asked for permission if they don't propose a character themselves, and only one character per quest per tryout/cup cycle. Because there will be like 8 slots, it doesn't need to be super competitive imo. I'd suggest we figure a way to mix voting and dice, honestly. There should be some community consensus, but I do think some chance should be involved so that it isn't a total popularity contest and smaller/newer QMs have some kind of opportunity to maybe snag a spot. We could do tryouts in the lead-up to each cup, but I think after our first go at it, we should run them simultaneous with the cup - that way board members here that maybe can't catch the official cup can still get in the spirit, and we have our own bi-annually competition to prep our roster for the next cup. These threads would also be ideal for us as a community to communicate about and work on the cup in general, like this thread we're in now.
>>6444262>1) Do you have a nominee for a /qst/ player? The one single Janny we got>Position?Goal keeper?>3) Do you think /qst/ should join the 4cc?Why notSamefag could also be a funny concept, not sure how it would work with modelling, maybe like the same guy with several copies of himself behind him
Oh hell yea, great idea Bonez. I've been following the 4CC for quite a time already, a bit off and on. I do have some ideas about how a /qst/ team would look like. First off, I'm of the opinion that we should definitely have some "general" characters that represent memes or phenomena that appear on /qst/. People already made it quite clear that /qst/ doesn't have a lot of those because of the insular nature of quests and their threads, but they are important to show we posses a board culture and a general sense of community. On that note, I'm also of the opinion that some of these players should take up some of the most important positions on the team. For those who don't know, the 4CC teams have gold and silver positions (sometimes bronze ones, depending on the ruleset used for the cup at the time.) What does that mean? These players are usually the star players, the one who will set up and score most of the goals in a game. Mechanically, they have higher or max stats and various tricks up their sleeves. This also means that they are the manifestations of some of the most iconic memes, people and events connected to a board. For /qst/, this could be QM Curse being one of the main forward players, either a striker or playmaker or even a goalie, as goalies are often iconic by themselves. Continuing, we definitely have to get some characters from quests in, as they are our biggest asset and most unique thing about us. I agree with some others anons that we should keep some positions rotating as to allow QMs to allow their own brain babies to shine. I do like the idea here >>6444503 to have some kind of competition, maybe once or twice a year to change up the roster and to make it a fun thing for voters to participate in. But, I also think we should come to some consensus regarding some truly exceptional quests or characters that should be considered mainstays or medal positions. Maybe even skip the competition for the first time and try to see what kind of team we can construct? Now, I would like to recommend some players.>General board culture related characters:The QM Curse (The QriM Reaper baby. We know him well, every time a QM thinks he will run his quest, he strikes and robs us of a good quest. Possible medal player.)Waifu War (Sometimes introduced by the QM or some truly willful anons, the existence of romantic options will always bring great shitstorms to any quest. Considering how universal this almost is, also a possible medal position.)>Civ Thread #5021 (Pick race and location. And drop the quest because that's about the only thing you will get from the QM.)The Eternal Samefag (What is there to be said? Bastard(s) who likes manipulating quests.)The Eternal Flaker. (The bastard that hooks you with a good premise and then goes for cigarettes and milk. These two could make a funny defensive duo.)Skirmish Quest (A good representation of player cooperation and there is always one around on the board.)1/2
>>6444514>Waifu WarCan't believe I didn't think of this yet... Seems like there's a broad agreement by now about >QM Curse >Flaking (represented in some way) >Generic Civ Thread >Samefag I think we should specify 'Samefag Voter' or 'Samefag Ballot-Stuffer' to differentiate from the samefags of all the other boards, right? >Ruby So that's five for sure. Would anyone OBJECT to >Argia Candente >Mark Delucia >Stanley Parble ?
>>6444520I have some ideas for meme players:>drawfag>punished drawfag>Autism Tome
>>6444514Continuation:The /QTG/ (The main hub to go and waste your time instead of running a quest or partaking in one. Sometimes useful, always there.GOOD fantasy quest when?! (Never.)Best of Three (The ol' reliable. Don't have a rolling system for your quest? Use Bo3 and allow players to clutch it in the last second. Or a goalie to defend the goal. Actually agree with some of the anons to have him as the goalkeeper.) Drawquest (Seems like a banal addition, considering we're going to have plenty of characters from drawquests, but I'll leave it as a possible addition.)sup/tg/ (Our beloved archive. What would we do without it?)>Quest characters (atleast those I'm familiar with):Catastrovania Strifaust Morituros IX (Hikkikomori Quest/Various Other Drawquests. Our beloved loser girl who canonically posts on /qst/. Considering how often she appears in other drawquests and quests, she's practically an unofficial mascot and I think he deserves a spot, maybe even a medal position. Her pathetic nature would also make it very funny.)Sir Emile Andrei (Sworn to Valour quest. Already recommended, but I think Forgotten definitely deserves a representative and I couldn't think of any better option then Emile. The big honourable himbo who suffers from religious mania.)Panzer Commander (Panzer Comannder Quest. Already recommended, tanq would truly deserve a player, considering the length, quality and dedication to the various quests he ran. Guess we could leave it open to which character would be suitable to play, as I only have proper knowledge of Revolutionary Man and the skirmishes.)Johnny Ando Oka (Do Your Best Quest. While I haven't read the quest, the amount of dedication put into the quest and its longevity makes it one of the mainstays of /qst/ and deserving of a position.)Skeleton Island Representative (Skeleton Island Quest. Also a product of a mainstay DrawQM, it is completely deserving of a player on the roster. Quattro del Petto or Shotasniffer.)These are some of the one I really support. Maybe Gotham City Cop can get a representative, some characters from Levelman's quests. ObserverQM also deserves a post, but I will leave that to those more familiar with these quests to argue and decide.>>6444520I've no problem with Candente, Delucia or Stanley to be put in. But what is Delucia from again?
>>6444503Cool idea for the 'tryouts'! I don't know how eager I am to start a new thread for a tourney-lite, especially for our 'maiden voyage', but I can definitely see this being fun in the long run for subsequent roster shifts and whatnot! Gives us time to think up guidelines and the actual procedure and whatnot too.>>6444509...We have a Janny? Seriously though, not a bad idea--I definitely don't mind us choosing someone special to be our goalie!>>6444514Hey, thanks! I watch it on and off too and was always a little bummed /qst/ hasn't thrown in yet. Glad to see people are interested at the very least! This info about the GOLD and SILVER positions is also very handy--definitely gives people something to shoot for in regards to Sloucho's idea for the Tryouts. Also helps that these guys tend to have higher stats which, yea, will be important to track in our team makeup. Also I love all these player suggestions. I support QM CURSE, FLAKER, SAMEFAG, and WAIFU WAR for sure. Definitely think DRAWFAG deserves a spot too per >>6444530 this anon.>>6444520I don't consider Stanley ICONIC, per se, but if the unwashed Democratic masses think she should be on the team then I'll support it!We should start keeping track of nominations, especially ones with multiple endorsements. I think Ruby's definitely in by now...
>>6444520No idea who Argia Candente, Mark Delucia, or Stanley Parble are.
>>6444533I would also support Johnny Ando simply because DYB has been a board staple for ages now. AND Quattro because yea, c'mon. Skeleton Island. Catastrovania's good too, but I think the new folks oughta' get a refresher on who she is. Tanq deserves some rep too, but I dunno which character would be the most fitting. As for Observer I'm all for something silly like Mech Model That Took Multiple Days To Make or something. That or MERRYGATE.Bo3's funny too. Also FUCK we totally SHOULD do sup/tg/ or LordLicorice! What a king!
>>6444534>>6444537Thank you very much. Also, an important aspect of the Cup is the fact that teams have managers. These are the guys who actually make the tactics and strategies for the team and they are quite important. Probably the most tedious part of the job as it requires the person to learn some basics about PES meta strats and such. Also, they make live plays and calls to help the team win in real time. Of course, /qst/ could also be an autopilot team with a caretaker, which means that it has preordained tactics in a pastebin, without the intervention of a manager to better the situation should it turn sour for the team.
>>6444541Yea, I've already taken the first few tenuous steps towards becoming the manager just to get the ball rolling, but I definitely don't mind if someone else with more know-how wants to do it instead or wants to co-manage with me!
>>6444533>>6444535Mark Delucia is the protagonist of Gotham City Beat Cop, which has gone for more threads than most and still commands ~7 votes regularly. Argia was the protag of Silver Knight Quest, which ran to completion recently and was also highly popular (relative to the norm). Stanley is from Bones Quest, which I never played, but I have heard and seen a lot about. >>6444534>>6444537Agreed on keeping track! So far no explicit objections and some more agreement so I think we are looking like: >QM Curse >Flake >1d100 BO3 >GOOD Fantasy Quest >Samefag (voter/whatever) >Generic Civ Quest >Ruby>Waifu War >Johnny Ando Oka >Sir Emile Andrei These feel pretty solid so far. Ones I think we should get clarification are: >Skeleton Island (Quattro? Someone else?) >Panzer Quest (Anya?) Ideas that I think mayyyybe need one or two more explicit nods of approval: >Argia Candente >Mark Delucia>Stanley Parble And finally, options that have only been barely touched on or not at all that need some kind of rep: >Something from Space Monke, obviously >Something from Observer >Something from a Dolomite quest
>>6444556IF we dial in on all the stuff in the last three categories, we still have 5 slots to fill! Feel free to argue with me and amongst each other about any of this, but barring any loud and compelling objections, those first 10 should probably get locked in.
>>6444556I nominate SNNNNNNRRRTTTTTT
