Long ago, there was the almighty Xanthous Emperor, who, by his power, subverted the world into the world that was his own, creating this land below Heaven known as Hainei in which all would live and establishing the age of gods.In so doing, the Emperor anchored his world of Hainei to the Sun, which was one and the same as his Heaven, by laying down the tower of firmament of his law so named Axis Mundi. But unlike the world of old, there was yet no night under his eternal Sun so unmoving in the sky for which life should be soothed by, and so he grafted the Moon of eld into Hainei, allowing it to bring about the Night. The dark of nighttime was a comforting illusion, and a temporary absence of all sight of Heaven, and it was pushed and pulled by Dawn, which now teeters on the edge, as an impalpable blanket to the world.And the Moon was beautiful. It was a gem in the vacuum, engraved with Lunar Society. And long ago, in the year 3999, marking the end of the New Beginning and the start of the New Eternity, it was set afire and immolated by the Traveler of the Void, and now today is no more than dust of what had been, feuded over for by the rival gods of the Moon, Yutu the Jade Rabbit and Nio the Moon Man.
Because the Moon was what brought low the blanket of nighttime to the land, it could be said to be one of the greatest shadows in the world, unreachable by any conventional means. Yet, there remained one way to traverse the veil of Night to touch the body of dust and shadow; They were known as the Red Carpets. They were like glistening curtains invisible to the naked eye but showing themselves to the deeper sight. They were indeed the wavering ideational pathways to that testified space, and they were filled with the light of the Sun which bounced off the Moon's carcass in the eternally appended universe.When light touches the Moon, it becomes of that eidos, and thus no longer associated with the Sun, creating the darkening reverse of Moonlight. When the Moon was brightened by the Sun, Hainei was dark, and when the Moon was dark of the Sun's rays, Hainei was bright and the Night was well. Some yet speak of how the Red Carpets, when they become too filled with the Emperor's light, overtake the Moon, and it shines red in the Night, yet it is only witnessed in the land when the Mage God of Belkinsire reaches out to bring the Moon closer. This, they say, is when the Red Carpets are most traversable. One who does not have the explicit permission of god may travel the Red Carpet to set upon the Moon and step foot where space normally disallows.
Now, in the seventh month of the year 4999 YE of the New Eternity, the Evergoing Month. The unthinkable has happened, and the Red Carpets have opened three months in advance of the Mage God's day. And with their opening, many will converge upon the Moon now laid bare for that time that the Red carpets can be ridden upon. The time of great change is coming to the Moon, and the long pause of stagnation will lift at last.
