BREAKING NEWS

The Supreme court of FANTASYLAND has struck the 666th amendment of the constitution to allow GOBLINS to attend graduate institutions.

Goblins are now allowed to get masters in might, magic, and nursing. Dear god, goblins can become doctors and lawyers. What has the world come to?! Can you imagine a goblin doing brain surgery or ratifying the laws that govern you and me?This is a TRAVESTY. A TRAVESTY. It was bad enough they could receive bachelor's now we trust them to do more?!!?

-----------------------------------------------------------------

You were 3 years old when you listened to a handsome High-Elf newscaster recount his very objective account of the landmark court case that struck down the 666th amendment. You had huddled together with all 200 of your siblings to watch the projector screen display him in the normally very spacious cave you called home.

There was just something about the disgust with which he associated the word lawyer with goblin that appealed to you. Ever since then you've wanted to be a lawyer and with that aim in mind you excelled (as much as a goblin can) in academics until you were admitted to your undergraduate university (with substantial help because of your diversity you're a stupid fucking goblin after-all)

Where did you attend?

>Arcane Scholarship University Honors College (ASU)

ASU is a school that's for people who are to put it lightly... hedonous buffoons. Its student body is rife with Centaurs, Orcs, and even a small amount of goblins whose days are spent chatting and chasing after any pussy or elf hole (not gay if it's an elf) they can. The magic school is decent, but that's only because the hundreds of thousands of alumni the school churns out has led to one or two retards lucking into enough success to be donors.

The honors college is slightly better in that law admissions committees won't immediately vomit all over themselves when reading your undergraduate institution.

Benefits:
Easy Curve: - Your GPA will probably be strong. Being smart for a goblin is actually better than being dumb for an Orc.

"Networking": - Constant partying and unsuccessful tail (literally) chasing has led you to be a particularly charming goblin. Note that part where I said you're a charming goblin to give more context to how charming you are.

Cons:

Easy Curve: Whilst the "hard factor" of having a Strong GPA is better than having a low GPA. That strong GPA is going to look weak against comparable ones across pretty much any other school. It limits your ceiling.

You're going to be dumber than a rock: You're getting an ASU education and associating yourself with people who are going to ASU. Enough said. You're going to be ill-prepared when studying for the MLSAT and if you get into law school.

>Might and Magic State University (MMSU)

MMSU is a middling state school that's known for it's strong sports program, smart but financially poor students who resign themselves to a life of mediocrity, and for being a career-focused magic-technical school.

Benefits:

Alumni Network: - MMSU's alumni care about each other. Whether it's because of the leaky ceiling, lack of air conditioning in their dorms, or general malaise of depression that hangs over the school, the alumni look out for each other. Strong sports team too. GO BARBARIANS!!!

Even though you're a dirty little goblin you can probably find a middling magi-tech job with limited upward mobility post-college to work at for a year or two pre-application. It'd make patent law a more realistic practice for you and strengthen your eventual law app. There might even be a few lawyers who can help you out.

Accessible Clubs: - Whilst ASU's clubs aren't even worth joining and a more rigorous college's professional clubs would never dare accept a goblin, MMSU's pre-law society and other professional clubs would accept you, and be a mark for you especially with a leadership position. You can build up your leadership experience and qualitative part of your application by going to MMSU and joining clubs.

Negatives:

What the fuck is MMSU?": - Admissions officers are going to be looking up what MMSU is. Which might arguably be worse for your admissions chances than going to ASU

>Fantasy Harvard University

Yeah. It's Harvard. You get the point.

Benefits:

It's fucking Harvard: The admissions officers are going to cream all over themselves looking at your undergrad institution.

Smart???: - After going through a rigorous Harvard education even a goblin might be of average intelligence. You'll probably get a decent MLSAT Score.

Negatives:

Harsh Curve: - You're a stupid little fucking goblin. If you're passing, you're passing by the skin of your fucking teeth. That GPA is going to be atrocious barring good luck (and cheating)

Friendless: - All the students are either neurotic middle class kids who sacrificed their childhood to get into Harvard. The rest are rich kids who coasted by with tutors and large donations. They're not going to befriend you. You're going to have worse social skills and zero connections

My thoughts on the matter:
ASU is "I`m actually giving up" option, not worth mentioning.
Harward sounds good until realization - trial lawyer absolutely needs charisma. Maybe, not so necessary if we aren`t a trial lawyer, but networking still gonna be absolutely necessary for a goblin to land a job, so we need to socialize, at least a bit.

MMSU is allowing us to network with maybe not the cream of the crop, but still useful people, not buffons from ASU, so I`m unironically thinking its objectively best option. And for law school admission - we could go for unorthodox for the law applicant but potentially useful major (math, physics, or maybe laws of magic if there is something of the sort) instead of "typical" psychology, economics or criminology.

So,

I'm voting for MMSU
>>
>MMSU

You earned a full-ride scholarship to MMSU thanks to your above-average grades and strong diversity factor. You remember how whelmed you were the day you received the admitted students package. The mail-man was a gruff orc who had no qualms smacking around the horde of goblin children nipping at his heels as strode inside the cave. He even gave you a solid smack upside of the head too after he called your name to receive the package. You probably deserved it; after-all you're a goblin.

Blinking away the flashing lights you held up the utilitarian grey box so your hundreds of brothers and sisters could read alongside you. Well, the ones that could read. The box read "Might and Magic University - 4 Years of Your Life" in gold coloring next to a frumpy little barbarian in a suit that was the school's logo. The barbarian seemed like he wanted to do anything else but be there with you. An opinion I'm sure many have felt.

As for what was inside the box you'll never know. After opening up the box the slightest bit every goblin in the room caught the faint scent of candy coming from it. You were quickly pushed away by your hoards of siblings who started scratching and clawing at the box and the others around them. Ten casualties and 3 hours later the cave was rife with green-blood, moaning goblins nursing their wounds, and no sign that you ever received a package.

A goblin's typical Tuesday afternoon aside...

What did you apply for as your major?

>Philosophy

Benefits:

Easy(er): - As a humanities major Philosophy tends to reward work ethic and actually doing your work rather than natural intelligence or ability. If you're willing to write the papers, argue about nothing with teenagers and 20-somethings, and not fall asleep during the lectures that are always taught by someone with an incomprehensible accent you should get a sold GPA.

Logic: - Logical reasoning is a big part of the MLSAT; the standardized test which every single aspiring law student takes. While MMSU has a comparatively weak philosophy program compared to its magic engineering one, learning formalized logic in some capacity should put you ahead when it's time to take the test.

Negatives:

Weak Program: - If you actually care about learning then the philosophy program at MMSU is probably not somewhere you want to be. Not only does it lack funding, but the professors are bitter career academics who scoff at the idea a professor should teach. They're only at MMSU to spew out agenda-ridden papers hoping that one day the right school will read it and poach them from this hellhole.

>Magic Engineering

Benefits:

Strong Program: - MMSU is known for one thing and one thing only. Magic Engineering. Throughout your state the school has taken hard-working students and turned them into engineers with grit and integrity. Go to any magi-tech company in the state and you'll find a balding MMSU alumni serving as a middle-manager. MMSU's engineering program has practically become synonymous with making money for the powerful, well-connected, and morally corrupt. You're going to learn engineering and you're going to learn it well.

Friends(?): - Being an engineering student is hell. Late-nights, math, and excessive caffeine consumption is only the tip of the iceberg for them. There is a sense of solidarity between those who are masochistic enough to subject themselves to it. When you're knee deep into integrals and starting seeing more letters than numbers in math problems the color of your skin starts to matter less. You'll be able to make friends, build those social skills, and perhaps even be somewhat of a presentable member of society. Well, by the standards of engineers. You're going to seem a little autistic if your friends are all engineers. You just might not have goblin-level social repulsiveness.

Negatives:

Hard: - Yeah... It's engineering. You're going to have to last through weed-out classes, math, and lord knows what other horrors. Not to mention that every class is graded as a curve. So you'll be competing against the best MMSU has to offer in order to keep a high GPA. Good luck.

Aren't we a law student? Why would we be studying engineering if we want to become a law student?
>>
>>6466379
Well you’re in your undergrad college. Law is a post-graduate degree and doesn’t have any pre-requisites like going to Med-School does.

What engineering does for a prospective law students is open them up to take the IP bar at someone to do practice as lawyer doing intellectual property.

It’s also seen as a more rigorous major so it earns you very minor points when admissions committees look at your file as well adding to the diversity of the class. So, it helps and makes some sense. This is really just an option because of MMSU.

Gender Studies: 6
Magical Engineering: 7

>Locking and Writing

>Magic Engineering

After a very hotly contested debate between your brain and the little green friend in your pants you decide to pick Magic Engineering as your major. Though, Gender Studies would have no doubt been filled with bodacious babes willing to touch a smelly, ugly, little thing such as yourself, Magic Engineering makes more sense for your career.

The school's alumni network is stronger for engineers and if you can somehow maintain a solid gpa through lying, cheating, stealing or *gasp* hard-work, admissions committees will actually look at your major positively.

Satisfied with your choice of major you stride confidently through the college campus to your first class in the Silverleaf Hall of Art and Technology. Silverleaf Hall or SHART, as you've taken to calling it to the displease of everyone around you, is the newest and nicest building on campus. Despite its utilitarian and boxy design it stands out because of its sheer size, lack of graffiti and bugs, and for having the most hostile architecture on campus to discourage the homeless.

The hall was built using endowment funds from Aetard Silverleaf, the richest and most notable alumni of the college. The quote he made for his speech announcing the building is emblazoned on a plaque in the center of the building next to the statue of a particularly arrogant-looking wood elf.

"An Engineer has a responsibility to nurture and protect the youth. To foster the next generation. The guiding principle I've always abided by is to live with integrity and kindness. I hope to instill this principle in every single young spark that passes through this building."

Silverleaf made his fortune designing magic arms responsible for the deaths of millions of innocent women and children. Even worse, he holds the record for longest commencement speeches at the college. You'd guess the number one thing he's actually instilled in students was how boring he is. But what do you know you're a goblin and you're poor.

Shaking away your thoughts about SHART's funder you walk into SH103 for your first ever college class. Ignoring side conversations about how they interned at a "defense company" not an arms dealer, and that they're only helping to design missiles for space travel, you pick out a few people to sit with.

>Buff Orc

There’s a particularly large orc with muscles bursting out the MMSU Barbarians shirt. You’re tempted to sit with him because he’s the only one who gave you a smile as you were scanning the seats for where to sit. He might soon learn why that was a terrible decision.

>Arrogant Elf

You also spot an open seat next to an arrogant looking elf who seems to be alternating between tilting his face higher and higher to an absurd degree to indicate his displeasure with your gaze , and violently trying not to vomit all over himself whilst looking at you.

You want to sit next to him because he looks rich and half the benefit of college is networking, right?

>Non-descript Human Girl

The only girl in the class. Between her thick glasses and the long, unkempt hair covering her face you can’t really tell what she looks like. You think you heard her neck crack from the speed from which she turned her head away from you. You just want to sit next to her because she’s a girl.
