“Awake.”Blissfully warm, Fallon absentmindedly stirred from her position. Wherever she had managed to land herself this time, it felt oddly comfortable and warm. She’d have to thank her mom later for the blanket, she supposed… just after enjoying her nap a little more. The call, or order rather, came again more insistently. “Awake.” Not now dad, she managed to groan. She curled in deeper in the pretense of sleep, hoping that whoever it was would most kindly let her sleep some more. The instigator did not seem to take kindly at her antics though, for then her mind was suddenly flooded with a roar of noise, “Awake!”Fallon rushed to jump from wherever she was sleeping, but found herself unable to do so, being suspended in some sort of liquid. What was that? The voice, which had an imperious quality that only her mother would be able to emulate, didn’t belong to any of her family. More pressingly, was she underwater? She made to open her eyes only to be faced with the realization that she couldn’t see anything regardless. Panicking, she began to flail around her body, pushing against something that felt disturbingly fleshy all around her. Did someone stuff her in a wet sort of balloon or body bag? Screaming was to no avail either, as she couldn’t even make a sound, nor could she hear anything. She wasn’t even sure if she was breathing or if it was possible to even breathe submerged as she was. The thoughts, and quickly dashed hopes, that this was a simple prank has long since left her reasoning and she desperately was running over every possibility of what could have possibly happened to her and her family. Be as it may, the situation was clearly dire and she needed to get out of whatever she was entrapped in now, so Fallon quickly began to attack at the slippery walls with all that she had. Desperately, she leaned in to bite, tear, and rip her prison to shreds before something on her person finally caught into the wall. Instinctively, Fallon tugged against the hook– and the wall finally tore open.
Whatever liquid that contained her poured out of the opening along with Fallon and she was ungracefully deposited on the floor with a phantom gasp, before quivering on the ground in utter exhaustion. She wanted to breathe, to take in lungs full of air but she could not in that sense. She wanted to move, to look for and hide from her potential assailants but all of her energy was drained in the frenzy to escape. Most pressingly of all, she wanted to cry, but was unable to do so. All she could do was shake. But the biological physiology that was so innate to her alien race did not keep her in such a pathetic state for long, and slowly, Fallon came to herself and her surroundings. The reason as to why she couldn’t see was still unclear to her, but she could still feel at least. The ground that she had fallen on was rather soft and most likely saved her from any serious injury. It was also rather warm. In fact, the encasement-balloon-thing that she was encased in was by all indications fairly hot considering that she felt residues of steam flowing and arising from her body. She cocked her head(?) in an attempt to listen to her surroundings and potentially single out her captors but her hearing failed her. Fallon scowled, she could not hear, or see– leaving taste, touch, and smell. Aside from a rather acrid taste in her mouth, taste offered her no information as to where she was. Tentatively, she gave a sniff but her sense of smell was always god-awfully atrocious, a blessing sometimes with how abysmal cooking was at her house usually. Which only left the sensation of touch to play detective for her.She stretched forth her hands, snaking them out to get a feel of her bearings. Only to suddenly realize that she apparently had many, many more hands then she had remembered. And to her dismay, her hands did not feel like hands at all.I need to see. To doubly confirm with my own eyes that what I am feeling is real, Fallon thought to herself distressed. It was but a moment after her thought, came the unbidden eldritch response.
>>6472387“I give you sight, so that you may see, my child.” Suddenly after receiving the revelation, Fallon could see and whatever notions she expected were completely shattered spectacularly. She was in a small antechamber, one of the many that dotted the main chamber before her. The walls, the floors, the everythings were made of glistening flesh which pulsed nauseatingly to an abhorrent beat. Her “hands” were revealed to not be hands at all but little feelers that waved frantically in panic all around her. Behind her was her prison, revealed to be a desiccated egg-sac slowly sagging to the floor. And most dominant of all that she saw was a colossal eye, connected to an innumerable amount of tendrils. In the center blazed an orange cross– and before Fallon could so much scream or otherwise exhibit her horror at the terrible, terrible thing before her, the eyelids retracted revealing The Eye, which fixated on her."Awaken my children, and embrace the glory of your birthright. Know that I am the Overmind, the eternal will, and that you have been created to serve me."The response was tumultuous, as ridged, spiny, and misshapen forms stirred to reveal themselves as insectoid creatures, all that screeched an unholy cacophony of noise in response. Insectoid creatures which looked very, very familiar. For the uninitiated, these were clearly horrifying monsters that wouldn’t have been out of place in a Lovecraftian fiction. But Fallan recognized said monsters, and it could be said that she was even familiar with them. They were the Zerg, a terrifying and very ruthless amalgamation of biologically perfected aliens, made to kill and conquer. And she apparently was now amongst their ranks.Fallon fainted.Roll d100 for humanity damage. Average of first 3 rolls.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xjbTVQL0g8Welcome to “Reincarnated as a Cerebrate! I’ve only played Starcraft 2!” This is actually a story that has been bouncing around my head for years but I never got around to actually working on it. I found /qst/ a couple of weeks ago and am kind of awed at the writing talent some of these QMs have (so far following some of the Imperium quests, Perverse Dragoon, Anabasis, and Great Evangelion Therapist). At the same time, I also see how casual some of the quests are, so I wanted to see if I could do something similar. That being said, I imagine a quest is completely different from your typical writing. I apologize in advance if I don’t do very well but let’s get to it. Though I have a rough idea of what’s to be ahead, you guys will probably drive the narrative in ways that I didn’t expect. In short though, the story will follow Fallon, who tries her best to survive what’s to come in the Starcraft I and II events. She won’t necessarily have the ability to impact the overall plot but she may interact with the main cast. For those of you that are familiar with Starcraft I, Fallon is not THE cerebrate that assists Kerrigan. If you aren’t familiar with Starcraft at all, no worries– Fallon isn’t really familiar either! The most important thing to note though is that she must survive– and you must help her while also helping her maintain her humanity. What is humanity? In short, humanity is what keeps Fallon herself rather than joining into the collective hive-mind of the Zerg, especially with how it currently is with the Overmind/Cerebrate. Having high humanity will help Fallon be empathetic and understand human nuances as well as human tactics. With lower levels of humanity however, Fallon will be more in-sync with the Zerg, leading to better prowess at commanding and manipulating her Zerg forces. There are 5 stages of humanity:>Tier 0 - You are human! Except wait, you actually aren’t. But perhaps one day…?>Tier 1 - Well, you’re definitely not human. But, you have human emotions and human rationale. Human softness. Is that really appropriate for a Zerg commander? Surely the others will notice… >Tier 2 - Your mind swarms with images of fangs, spines, and teeth. But you can still think. You can still feel. Somewhat. >Tier 3 - Your head pounds. It pulses. You must obey. The Swarm is imperative. The Swarm must survive. >Tier 4 - We are Zerg. (Game over! Unless someone is able to somehow intercede on your behalf. Expect nothing of that sort until later. You’re on your own!)We’re starting from Tier 0, 100/100. Note the closer you are to humanity, the more humanity you will lose! Whereas the further you are from humanity, humanity damage is less impactful.
>>6472397Now for some additional quirks to her character. Fallon has a mixed heritage of Irish-German-Korean and is a second-generation immigrant from South Korea. Although she was in college for a bit, she had to drop out in order to help support the family business. Her life consisted primarily of: Wake up. Go to work. Eat. Go home. Play games. Sleep late. Repeat. 0 social life outside of her family. But before all of this, what did she do?>Was a successful student and college student– able to study for hours without burning out. She had an uncanny amount of will when it came to doing the things she wanted to achieve. Ambitious but in the end, still family orientated. (+Will, important for asserting dominance/resisting dominance). >Was intensely into Kumdo, archery, and martial arts– a ferocious little sprite as her uncle liked to call her. She frequented the family dojang her uncle owned until it closed down a couple of years ago. (+Ferocity, though one can only wonder how useful those skills are if she’s a Cerebrate)>Was a small-time faceless streamer who led her own clan in a variety of cooperative multiplayer games. She also played for her college e-sports team and briefly dabbled with professional e-sports. (Effects from game-choice enhanced, basic sense of leadership/command)>She didn’t really do anything. Life just kind of happened in a blur. But she helped her family out a lot and they were constantly supportive of her in hopes that she’d pick up an interesting endeavor of her own. (Supportive family, can recall of them often for +Humanity)>Write-inRegardless, Fallon’s favorite pastime was playing PC games– a habit she picked up from the rest of her family, much to the exasperation of her mother. She primarily liked playing…>FPS games, like CS:GO and Valorant. >Grand strategy games, like Europa IV, Stellaris,>MOBAS, like League of Legends or Deadlock. >Sandbox games, like Minecraft>Write-inLastly, questions for QMs. How do I go about setting a username/setting up a tripcode? Is there a guide somewhere for Quests outside of sticky? I never played DND either so I’m not quite sure how dice rolls work. And is there anywhere I can copy/paste my results to ensure formatting is correct?

>>6472399Setting up a tripcode is basically choosing a handle (like New QM) in the 'Name' field, then you put in ##[0000] after it. Just swap out those zeroes with numbers you're gonna remember. For example:In the name field: Dicks ##[1234]You can look at the /qtg/ discussion thread and ask for assistance there--we're usually pretty friendly if you're asking questions! As for copy/pasting? I recommend having a Google Doc or something that you write your shit in, but I'm sure other people have other options too.
>>6472386I already messed up my formatting, fugg my life...>>6472401Thank you! And yes, I am using a Google docs and copy and pasting. The 3000 character limit will be annoying but maybe it just means I won't have to write as much. We'll see!>>6472395A more accurate gif would be been the SC2 overmind, but the SC1 is funnier and I can't even find the SC2 overmind anyways.

I'm even more sorry now.well. yes. i don't really do anything with my life, so i just lurk on some boards. /qst/ is definitely the most enjoyable and recent board so far, albeit I've hardly looked at more than 6-10 quests. I was worried about making another quest before I realized that like, 20 are inactive.Thank you for the link
>>6472448Supa dead board, very little activity compared to before. Quests used to be hosted on /tg/ and more rarely on /a/, but we got shunted into this containment board, because the locals thought we were crowding out their own threads. With the narrow scope of the board, we don't get enough traffic to survive. Though quests were popular enough to make it off-site and thrive, and to sustain the population initially, we've been circling the drain for a while now. There was an attempt to reenergize the board with new blood through an advertisement campaign, which worked for a while, but now we're dying again. QM thread general and Discord drama didn't help.Still, there's some stuff worth reading/playing here. It's worth keeping the medium alive. Here's a link to the archives: https://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html for qst and https://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html for tg. After we split from tg, the archive quests are archived on is the qst page, the tg page is for their shit exclusively now. There's also archive.moe or some others for reading the shit that people don't bother/forget to properly archive on suptg, but be warned, you should use an ad blocker and have a decent antivirus if you plan to use moe.Good luck QM. Don't die too quickly.

She also played for her college e-sports team and briefly dabbled with professional e-sports. (Effects from game-choice enhanced, basic sense of leadership/command)simps love sucking up to gamer gurls.>Grand strategy games, like Europa IV, Stellaris,So we actually know how to use a brood and build bases/armies.QM I wouldn't worry about fucking up the canon too much. As Zerg, we have the least possible ability to do so. The only thing I can think we can really fuck up is saving the Cerebrate of One aka Kerrigan's pet cerebrate, from being assassinated by the Protoss. OG Kerrigan may have been queen bitch of the universe and extremely vengeful but she REALLY liked that cerebrate enough to make an enemy out of the Protoss and even Jim for it. She was also surprisingly sentimental, all things considered. Otherwise, she never would have spared Raynor or try to avenge/replace her lost favorite pet cerebrate.Saving Kerrigan's pet cerebrate would keep her from being so hostile to the Protoss. Terrans are fucked tho unless they're with Raynor. She always secretly played nice with him and isn't fond of other Terrans due to being a ghost and betrayal. The only exception is Raynor's Raiders thanks to Jim and the Magistrate.Too bad the protoss or jim never realized that one of the Cerebrates they assassinated belonged to her and made her go on the war path against the Protoss for it. That was the real reason why she targeted the protoss. Kerrigan is EXTREMELY vengeful but secretly very sentimental. She previously didn't care for the Protoss, except for a personal spat with Tassadar but that was more competitive than anything. So losing her personal cerebrate to their assassination, unsurprisingly, pissed her off more than anything because she didn't get along very well with the other cerebrates and it was the only member of the Zerg she was closest to by far.
This is a quest I can get behind. I'm looking forward to whatever you're cooking, QM.>>6472399>Was a successful student and college student– able to study for hours without burning out. She had an uncanny amount of will when it came to doing the things she wanted to achieve. Ambitious but in the end, still family orientated. You'll get extra points if you throw in tabletop wargames.>new QMI had an unfinished one shot about half a year ago, but I hope to be back on the saddle of writing when things in my life cool down. So, I'm rooting for you buddy.>canonI don't much about it myself, lol.>>6472448>/qst/ is definitely the most enjoyable and recent board so farI wholeheartedly agree. This board and /diy/ tend to have more consistently interesting content.>>6472463I mean, she did kill off a ton of over cerebrates including the player character one at the end of events in SC1 because she didn't find them useful anymore. Kerrigan is a massive bitch through and through. Her shift in character in SC2 was an awful whiplash. IMO, everything after Wings of Liberty is ass. You know why.
>>6472399>Was intensely into Kumdo, archery, and martial arts– a ferocious little sprite as her uncle liked to call her. She frequented the family dojang her uncle owned until it closed down a couple of years ago. (+Ferocity, though one can only wonder how useful those skills are if she’s a Cerebrate)>Sandbox games, like MinecraftI can imagine having done production streamlining in games like Factorio or Satisfactory would come in handy here. Give her some ferocity so she can backhand any uppity little drones with her mind when they don't work fast enough.
>>6472560She killed the cerebrates because they were more loyal to the Overmind which threatened to re-enslave her again. Truthfully, she never got along with any of them except for her pet cerebrate of one. Brood War protag cerebrate was offered a future in which it 'might' survive but then they changed their minds in SC2 to replace them with Queens, so...yeah, that didn't work out.Even infested Kerrigan did notably still care about Raynor's Raiders Otherwise she never would have spared them as she was more than willing to slaughter any other Terrans and only decided 'fuck the protoss' after they killed her favorite Cerebrate. Before that, they technically did her a favor by killing the Overmind, and it took out that annoyng protoss Tassadar too! So it was a double win for her until she realized those fuckers killed her favorite cerebrate too.SC2 story sucked ass so hard completely ruining both Raynor's and Kerrigan's character. Not that there weren't plotholes in the first game but holy fuck, it was never that terrible. That was still during the first good campaign. It just got worse from there...I still stand by the fact that Queen Bitch of the Universe Kerrigan is the best Kerrigan. However, her character has a bit more nuance than people give her credit for. She isn't a pure psycho and that is what makes her terrorifying. She remembers what humanity is and sees her new self as an upgrade. She is insanely vengeful, extremely vicious, and only let's slip tiny bits of 'care' under very specific sentimental reasons. It was apparent 'slips' of humanity that fooled Raynor, after all but he didn't know about Kerrigan's Cerebrate either; technically, not that it would have changed things given how insanely vengeful she is. Arguably those slips of 'humanity' was actually her being sentimental, not any remaining dregs of humanity that they tried to retcon in SC2.Anyway we are playing Zerg, so there is very little we can do to change much of canon. Except maybe Kerrigan decides she likes a another cerebrate and we somehow save the Cerebrate of One from being ganked by the Protoss. Which to be fair, they had very good reason for assassinating, since it spearheaded he invasion of Aiur but Kerrigan is never gonna care about that.

While also dealing with being sent around by the Overmind has it sees fit across the Koprulu Sector. And then dealing with our brood. And where we are sent. And for what reason. While the story is around us...and inevitably with another brood and cerebrate being around things will get interesting. Less predictable even if we have knowledge of the games. Zergling swarming the farms outskirts of a recent terran colony outskirts with barely a militia going for defend it ?Could drop the 100. The 1. Add a plus or minus. Use other numbers.noko+dice+3d50+103 arrow formations packs of zergling coming from 3 directions on those outskirts. No chance for those terrans. This is just a random example. The dice needs to suit your quest needs. Ah even the DCs. For example ordering a larva to twirl 360° in the ground is probably a feasible and easy task something like a low DC of 10 for pass it would be fine, but its ultimately pointless for Fallon has an action beside attempting to distract herself with something that "might" be fun and harmless. Instead assaulting an heavily fortified place or fighting actual armies will be probably very hard to do (instead of say small forces or weak forces such has underequipped colonial militias or colonial police) and be represented by high DC. Since this is not just the videogame, but outright the flesh and blood lore starcraft. Meaning commanders, units, maps, factions, planets, civilians, weapons, fleets and so on and so forth....are not limited by the videogame.Returning to rolling.
