Potent lifeforce shines with a golden iridescence, encased in a prison of flesh; it calls to you like a stellar siren amongst a dense asteroid field littered with dead ship carcasses and frozen corpses. A gravitic pull subtly draws you closer to the being on death’s door; gone are thoughts from your mind, all that remains is wonder and marvel at seeing the living force slowly decouple from its meat host. Without noticing your own actions, your face is almost touching the sickly pale man garbed in imperial marine uniform as if proximity would allow you to zoom in on the process, allowing you to understand all the intricacies of decoupling the spiritual from the physical. It is beautiful. The spirit that inhabits the body, and the serving of the bonds. To witness this is a gift; and that you have gained a slight, minuscule insight between the connection of the force to this material world is a prize that dwarfs any mass of gold. This gift was not free. No gift in this world is. It must be selfishly taken, grasped into your needy clawing hands that are blindly fumbling in the dark. For this sliver of knowledge, the price is a life. A loyal soldier of the Empire left to die before you. You could have saved him, and yet you didn’t. Instead, you allowed is spirit to shed its mortal form, out of curiosity, out of a desire to learn. His name was Horo Thif. The decision was one that left a sickness in the depths of your bowels like a corrosive pool of slick oil. Never have you liked the callous disregard the Sith have for the citizens and soldiers of the empire that dutifully serve them, that heroically fight and die alongside them against the wretched Republic and fetid Hutts. They deserve respect and recognition, but this opportunity is too good to pass up. The hypnotic draw of tells you that this is not something you can afford to avert. You must seize this chance, regardless of the cost. It could lead to you saving so many more Imperial lives. As you study the dying man, you feel his fear and horror and give him a small mercy. Touching his mind, you study Horo Thif and give him a pleasant vision as he expires in front of you. For his unwilling sacrifice, you are rewarding him with an image of him returning home, not in a coffin, but with flowers in hand to meet his wife, Myri. On his breast is a medal displaying his bravery, and along with it is a sizeable reward in his bank account for his heroic actions, credits he looks forward to spending on Myri. Finally, the connections are fully severed. Horo is dead. You have learned much from this, but the unpleasant feeling still lingers inside. Studying his face, you reach out and collect his dog tags, deciding to be the one to return them to his beloved as a form of respect for the young man. Maybe it will bring you some kind of penance. If not, it is the correct thing to do, the least you can do for a man you callously let die for your personal gain.
Thoughts swirl in your head like viscous ichor within a boiling pot of an arcane witch of some childhood story belonging to peoples before the advent of space flight. The memory passes from your time on Umbara to the world around you, long since you have completed your mission, now you are aboard the bridge of Seyra’s stealth shuttle heading to the temple. Your scarlet fingers fiddle with a circular metal disk, indentations spell out a name. There are no stretched stars of hyperspace, instead, the stationary dots of light remain constant as you glide at sublight speeds through a solar system above the planet Horo Thif called home. Pensively, you gaze out of a flawless window of transparasteel, as if those solar systems light-years away hold some secrets to a lost question haunting your mind.“So,” Seyra pauses as she chooses her next words with deliberate care, burying her irritation, your eyes flit from the nothingness of space to this angel of beauty that you somehow call your girlfriend. A weak smile warms your face as you watch her and just think how lucky you are to have her. “We can mail the tags to his wife, or even just forget it. I understand that you… are more compassionate than I. But even you agree that we are greater than the nameless rank and file, we the avatars of change in this galaxy. His loss would not be like yours, and you gained something of immense value from it.”Letting out a sigh, you nod your head. She is correct, but still, it doesn’t sit well with you. Honestly, you are surprised how compassionate Seyra is on this topic, but that is more to do with it being important to you than her care about the ethical dilemma; she’d happily and possibly gleefully watch hundreds burn for a lesser knowledge. To her, they are as ants, numerous and so unimportant they are not truly even sentient. How can beings be sentient if they cannot even begin to fathom the essence of life that is the force? You are not so harsh.“Still, it would feel right.” You say slowly, as if tasting every word before speaking them. She pouts; her genetically sculpted face is a treasure to behold, and the HoloWeb very much agrees with your assessment. Her likeness has been plastered over the net since her success in the Conquest Games. Countless works have been crafted in her likeness; some art is flattering, others are lurid, offensive and degrading. “I think it is a waste of your time. How you treat the citizens is very, um, noble. Is it not beneath us? Either way, if you want to deliver it to his widow, we can. If you decide to continue on back to the temple and ignore this, we can. I just dislike seeing you so conflicted about your objectively correct actions.”
This is your decision to make, she will not attempt to sway you any further. She has said her piece. Seyra then leans forward and plants a gentle kiss on your lips. Staying near you, Seyra hovers within inches, wanting to trap you in a genetically enhanced embrace. Bright red lipstick pops against her alabaster skin, and watching crystalline blue eyes study you, waiting for you to decide which action you will take. Seconds pass by as you battle with the choice. Growing tired of waiting for a decision, she leaves her seat to find a new one. Your lap. Lazily, she wriggles to find the most comfortable spot, and her hands snake up your robe, finding the warmth of your torso. With a soft and lazy voice, Seyra yawns into your neck. “It is your decision. I am happy with whatever you decide.”>Honour the Dead – Those that serve you, that help you, will be rewarded. You will not discard them like broken dolls. You will return the tags to Horo’s wife.>Harden your Heart – Be more like Seyra, cast off these shackles. Banishing the indecision from your mind, you refuse to be riddled with pathetic hesitancy. You made your decision once, and you will stick by it. You are not a changeable Jedi that bends to whichever way the wind blows. Seyra is different from you, and you respect her for it, but your mind is your own, a very different one. Following her path and discarding your own is being a follower. Holding disregard for the men alongside you, force user or not, is not in your blood. Personal power, the driving force behind all Sith, is something you still feel, but you know your reach will not be unlimited. Even if you are the brains of a system, it still requires composite parts that come together to create a greater whole. Maybe you are rationalising what others would consider you being childishly sensitive. Quite frankly, it doesn’t matter; there is no point in overanalysing yourself, you are you. Fighting yourself is dishonest and will get you nowhere. Allowing a hand to caress Seyra’s back through her thick robes of utter blackness, you indicate that you have finalised your decision. Telling her with a firmness in your voice, a stark contrast from your earlier cadence caused by trifling indecision. “Let’s do it. Let’s give his wife the tags. Telling her the truth would simply cause her pain, so I will share a kind white lie.”Seyra grumbles, her slight displeasure apparent in the grumpy reverberation, but there are no words to shake you from your path. She has already accepted that this is your decision alone; she does not care enough about this to make it into a disagreement. Trying to move to the centre console to change the trajectory, the weight of the Arkanian stops you from rising. Her complaint returns, not at you trying to enter the new route but because it would deprive Seyra of her favourite seat. With a sigh, you give up and allow her to win this battle; she can use you as a seat as a cat would. A control pad built into your change allows you to do the task, albeit with a bit more effort.Half a day later, you have landed upon the unspectacular planet and made your way through a rundown city that gets progressively worse the further you travel from the spaceport. Thankfully, you are not hungry, because the food stalls littering closed-off crossroads make your tough stomach shudder. You would rather starve than try the local delicacies. Despite your offer to leave Seyra behind in the semi-pleasant city centre, she has followed your every step. Personally, you would prefer to do this alone, but Seyra firmly rejected your suggestion.
It is clear the pair of you are Sith, the visible Lightsabers hanging from your hips scream warning at the citizens. As you approach denser crowds of the milling public, they split to allow a wide berth. Caused by the fear of the power you wield and the suffering you can inflict. Some kids point at you in wonder, which earns them a smack on their head by a parent before quickly rushing them by. You make sure to spare them a smile; you have always wanted to be loved, let other Sith be feared, and they are cute. Seyra does not mirror you; she scowls at the children with sapphire daggers, causing them to recoil in fear of this ice queen. Eventually, you make it to an ugly and bare housing block made of bland concrete. What an dreadful sight; it is a shame that people must live in such a dreary eyesore. People need beauty to be inspired, not this cold spirit-crushing abomination that surely must suck the soul from all dreams. Checking with the golden droid around your wrist, C2-90 confirms this is the correct location. After trudging up countless flights of stairs, unsurprisingly the elevator was out, you stand before a wooden door painted a bright red. At least there is some colour here.Knocking on the door, a human woman answers your summons after a few attempts. Her hair is an unkempt mess of red, and her homely, if not plain, face is one you recognise from the mind of Horo Thif. It is her, his widow, Myri. She knows about his death, but when you pass her his dog tags, fresh tears stream down her face. After apologising to you for her outburst, Myri wipes her face with the back of her arm. Seyra remains quiet during the exchange, yet she makes her thoughts clear to you. Irritated and bored eyes glare at you, telling you to wrap this scene up. You sell Myri a false tale of her husband’s bravery, not telling her the truth. Due to his death, your development of force drain has grown with speed, it would not have been possible without him. Attempting it with plants had mixed results, so you requested criminals and prisoners of war to be sent to you. Now you can rapidly rip the life from those not in tune with the force and use that energy to feed yourself with temporary jolt of power. The young widow invites you into her apartment for tea or food, but recoils from Seyra’s violent snort. Shooting Seyra a glance, you reply to Myri and thank her but reject the offer.
As you go to leave Seyra interrupts the closing conversation. “Myri, I have just had an idea. My boyfriend and I have ordered a ship to be built for us. Allowing us to serve the Empire to our fullest extent. Why don’t we take you with us, employing you as a secretary or something. It will be much nicer than…” Seyra pauses and looks over this city with plain disgust. “-this. The ship will be constructed to suit a person like me, so it will not be ugly and military. I will not take no for an answer. We need a crew, and the money would be good. The duties would not be hard. Yes, yes, it would work out perfectly. We shall see you there.”Seyra has decided for her, not allowing an objection to be raised. But watching the widow’s face, you do not see any protest there, only surprise. Good money, getting to see the galaxy, living in luxurious quarters. At least compared to what she is used to on this crumbling world of concrete and trash. Maybe with this job, she can occupy her mind and forget her pain that echoes within her heart. As you leave, heading back for Seyra’s shuttle, you catch something on her face. A vicious and predatory grin. There is some wicked thought running through her mind. When you ask, her face shifts to one of innocence and doting adoration. When challenged she acts confused at your questions.Back on Seyra’s ship, you continue your journey to Lao. Travelling back to Lao, you think of the reunion of your fellow Acolytes, particularly Yira. She’s been the person you’ve been closest to, only to be recently edged out by Seyra. Neither of you has said how you have felt towards each other, but the fondness was clear to both of you. She has even kissed you. You need to tell her about you and Seyra; having her find out by some accident before you manage to speak with her would be very hurtful. Hopefully you can remain friends, but Sith are not known for being level-headed. To her credit, she is much gentler than the typical Sith.Sensing your intent, C2 crawls off your arm and leaps on a table. His golden armour is shaped as a simulacrum of a scorpion. Lights from the ceiling glimmer off his carapace as he watches you with his crimson eyes. The main one projects a holographic interface which you cycle through until you reach Yira’s name. Pausing before you initiate the call across thousands of light-years, searching for the best way to deliver the news that will not be pleasant to her ears. If only you were better with people, maybe you could manage to spin this in a better way.Seyra walks in and looks quizzically at the list of contacts floating above C2, asking suspiciously, “Calling someone?” “Yira,” Shooting a conciliatory smile, knowing how Seyra will react. “I thought I should see how she is. And let her know about us.”A thunderous visage replaces the tepid curiosity. Her voice comes out terse, deeper than usual, “Her? I wouldn’t waste your breath.”“Yes, her. She’s my friend, and I should tell her the news.” You say as if you do not notice Seyra’s mood. “Fine,” Seyra hisses through bared teeth, and she glares at you with slits for eyes. Stomping out of the room like a petulant child denied of their favourite toy. With a deep breath, you press the holographic image and your droid begins a call across the galaxy. Half a minute passes, and then a holographic face appears; freckles dot her pretty face, and she wears a playful grin. It grows large seeing your face, and she bursts out with words before you can even say hello. “Vulfstahn! I am so glad you’ve called. I’ve heard you are back safely from Umbara, but I still worried. I know, very silly, but that is me, I guess. Are you alright? I saw what you did on the news; you looked unhurt. Sith across the Empire will be looking at you to be their apprentice. You are going to be very popular. Everyone likes a war hero. When are you getting back?”Rushed words overwhelm you, but it is nice to talk to her, considering it has been a while. You really hope this goes well. “Yeah, I’m fine. Great actually. You did well during the Conquest Games; honestly, you’ve really impressed me.”
“I know. I know. I impressed myself. Our private lessons have really paid off. I’m looking forward to them.” The excitement grows with each word. Not finding an opening, or not wanting one, the pair of you talk for a while, just enjoying the conversation until you decide to broach the topic. “So Yira, some news on my end. Me and Seyra have started dating.”Wincing, you watch as her face goes red with rage, shattering the appearance of a happy-go-lucky young girl. Uttering out only a single word, “What?”“Seyra and I were talking quite a bit over my mission to Umbara, and we met up at some point and found we really liked each other. Anyway, I should arrive back at the temple tomorrow, and we should do something.” You try to divert the conversation away from the topic that has caused her to go red with fury.As the silence lingers, a silhouette of Seyra passes your peripheral vision. Seyra jumps onto the sofa next to you with a thump. With a friendly smile, she waves at Yira. “Hi, how are you? You exceeded my expectations in the Games. We have never really talked, but with Vulf here I am looking forward to getting to know you.”Yira’s face is swirling with shock, confusion and anger; so many emotional inputs she is frozen in place, unable to react. Tilting your head, you take a glance at Seyra. Noticing her dark, formless robes are gone, replaced with a plain white low-cut t-shirt that anyone would wear if it wasn’t too small. It tightly clings to her chest, emphasising her curves poorly hidden underneath. Even in something so simple, Seyra looks stunning. Staring straight ahead at Yira, Seyra continues her triumphant smile at the holographic figure, acting in false friendship, knowing she has beaten her Human rival.“Have you heard the news?” Seyra asks Yira in a girlish tone and squees as if she were gossiping with her best friend. Turning to you, Seyra presses her lips against yours and slowly and passionately kisses you. Her eyes are closed, and her pale cheeks have turned a rosy red. She parts her lips, deepens the kiss, letting out the quietest sound against your mouth when her tongue meets yours. Seyra’s body shifts closer, the full soft weight of her breast brushes your chest through the thin shirt, and she holds the kiss. Not wanting to break, only allowing apart from small pauses between desperate continuations. Seyra is throwing herself at you, needy and frantic, craving to claim you in such a way that Yira will always know who you belong to.
Coming to your senses, you quickly break the spell and notice the line is dead. Yira has hung up. Getting to your feet, you angrily admonish Seyra, telling her that Yira is your friend and cares about you. That Seyra doing this would have really hurt Yira, you won’t be a prop for her to use to humiliate her. Seyra does not listen to the words, they flow over her like waves over a rock. Breathless, she attentively watches you, she looks up with scarlet cheeks flushed with drunken arousal. The sensation still tingling in her body, her mind replaying the public display of affection on loop. Submissively looking up at you, wanting to graduate beyond your shared kisses to something more. No longer the arrogant woman enjoying the humiliation of her rival but a young girl wanting to be loved, to explore these new sensations and desires.Returning to Lao days later, Seyra remains glued to you, switching between proud and arrogant to soft and loving. Demanding to be with you so no human temptresses, or others, can steal you away from her. More than that, so she can be with the only person she’s ever felt close to. Yira disappears whenever she spots you, the anger returning to her face. You do not know how to broach this with her, to mend bridges, it is not a strength of the Sith. Any time you try to catch Yira, just for a conversation, she slips through your fingers like a ghost. As days pass there is a meeting called by Lord N’we. He tells you that the shadow monsters, called Shades, that lurk in forest which surround the temple are growing bold; they captured a few of the non-force-using staff in a bloody raid. You will break into groups and cull them. Let them know that this is a Sith world, not theirs, no matter how many millennium they’ve been here. You, being the most accomplished student, are allowed to pick your trio first. As you should, just as with nature, the strongest receives the parwl’s share. Decisively, you quickly pick out the three, knowing your pick will be unpopular with at least two people. Probably three. This is your opportunity to work with and repair your relationship with Yira, soon, all will be leaving to explore the galaxy with their new masters as the class graduates to Apprentice. Seyra can’t be with you, for obvious reasons. The rivalry between them will make such a resolution impossible. She will get over it; Seyra seems to quickly flit between aggressive sadist and a doting people pleaser, but that is reserved just for you. You just have to make it up to her some way after.“Yira.” You begin, and her face scowls as if you insulted her entire bloodline. Following the first name you say, “Ilthor Ra and Thang.”Thang does not react, and you see no emotion hidden in his eyes, but with your year feuding with one another, you are not dense enough to believe the mask. He knows you are his superior in a fair fight and that your decision could be a way to kill him silently in the woods, blaming the terrible Shades. Ilthor Ra, a once meek Weequay, struts up and clasps your hand in his. His blood is boiling with excitement and anticipation; you survived Umbara together. There is no one in this academy he trusts more; Ilthor was a project of yours during your brief service behind the enemy lines. You taught him as well as you could, and it shows with his quick advancement. This does not mean he is superior to the majority of the class, let alone special. He is a respectable mid-level, and for him that is a great improvement. Seyra glares at you with venomous eyes, outraged that you chose Yira over her. Given the command of the second squad, she barks out a list of three names, glowering at the score of people. You trust her skills; if people die, it will not be you or her. She is exceptional with her Lightsaber, and very skilled with the force. The other groups may not walk away as intact. The three final squads are quickly chosen; when done, there are no Acolytes left. Lord N’we looks at you with a smile on his face, it is as false as a crocodile’s tears. “Excellent, now get yourself weapons from the armoury and head off. Kill as many as you can, burn down their treetop huts. This is your last task before you graduate to apprentice; think of this as a test. If you pass, you will finally be allowed to construct your own Lightsaber. I know your training has been short, not the decades of the Jedi, but we rise faster than them and glow brighter. Furthermore, we need more Sith to battle the Hutts and the Republic. Best of luck.” With that, he walks off, not sparing a second thought about those that will be carrying out his task in this horrid forest.
Only you and Seyra currently have Lightsabers, the rest go to collect razor-sharp swords. Due to their craftsmanship, the edges are as deadly as a vibroblade, able to cleave through flesh and most armour with ease. Perks of being the chosen class of the Empire. You allow your group to go and wait for them to return. Seyra stands there too, waiting for her hapless assistants to return. Turning to talk to her, she whips her head in the opposite direction to you with arms crossed. Looking into the forest, she peers through the trees into the darkness as she arranges her hair into a long ponytail. You apologise, knowing she understands why you didn’t pick her, but not forgiving you. Waiting, you look back at the building and linger in place for the figures to emerge into this clearing in the forest. Stealing a peek at Seyra, you find her watching you. Seyra tries to swivel her glance away in a vain hope you did not notice her. As she looks away, purposely trying to ignore your presence, you sneak up and wrap an arm around her waist and plant a soft kiss on her cheek. You know she’s mad at you, and you can’t change that right now, but you want Seyra to feel the warmth inside that she makes you feel. Soon you are under the heavy foliage of the great trees that stretch to the sky. Heavy branches intersect each other, creating an endless overhead maze. The sun is gone, hidden under the canopy; the perpetual near-total darkness robs you of your sight. Thick fog pools around your feet, each footfall disturbs the calm lake, sending echoing ripples. Silence is everywhere; you can hear your heart beating. Ever since you have escaped the planet-wide jungle, this place has always inspired fear in you. And this time you have allies but no Whiphid. Urr’tal, the friend you were forced to kill. You wear his last gift to you, a tattered patchwork cloak of a flayed Shade you killed together. Your heart grows heavy thinking about him.Ilthor speaks in a whisper that somehow is too loud, causing your party to wince. “What’s the plan, boss? We stumble around here until we see some Shades.”“Or they see us. Vulfstahn is wearing the skin of their kin. It should attract some attention.” Thang adds, he is right to be fearful of Shades, not regular beings which stalk forests across the galaxy. They are humanoids garbed in etheric shadow with the ability to teleport short distances, giving them a frenetic fighting style that uses extreme speed and aggressive momentum. Not only that, but they are both unnaturally tough and strong. A singular Shade is enough to take out a middling Jedi, and they travel in packs.
“Or we could shout until one spots us, or start a fire, let this forest burn.” Yira giggles nervously, remembering watching the Shades shred the prospective Acolytes before your admission into the ziggurat. At least she’s talking to you now. “We could hide in the trees and wait until we spot one. Either ambush it or follow it back to its village or nest or whatever the fuck they dwell in.” Ilthor states, his eyes haplessly scanning the darkness. “If the masters really wanted a good number of them dead, they’d simply bombard the forest from orbit using a passing warship. They aren’t really expecting us to kill scores.” What plan do you take?>Wander deeper – Trudge into the heart of the forest, let whatever happens happen.>Call them to you – Make noise, start a fire, let them come to you. They are always ravenous. You can build traps to make the fight easier. >Hide in the Treetops – Let time pass and either ambush or follow them to their dwelling. You want any fight on your terms.>Write-inWhat’s your plan for Thang?>Kill him – For the past year you have been enemies. You have not forgotten that just because you’ve eclipsed him.>Let grudges die – You do not like him, but you do not want to kill him. Not now, at the very least.

>>6481830>Hide in the Treetops – Let time pass and either ambush or follow them to their dwelling. You want any fight on your terms.not sure about replacing the cloak, Vulf seems pretty sentimental and has attachment issues it seems (can't let go of Yira or Thang, or let go of responsibility to a dead soldier)>Let grudges dieI agree letting the grudge die is the way to go, but surely that would be better served if we didn't put him on Vulf's team. Putting him on the team is only going to cause tension, so what was the point of voting to have him on the team just to ignore him?Inb4 Thang and Yira become a power couple
