The McDonald's by me is super fucked up because they no longer have the fountain machine available for customers to use, and it's just a front counter with a small area for sitting down and eating, very small. The counter has a wall behind it so that you can't see into the kitchen whatsoever you kind of go down a hallway which means when you go in there, nobody is up at the front counter to take your order, and getting somebody up there is almost impossible.

McDonald's no longer appeals to children. It appeals to young to middle-aged adults. The buildings can also be much more easily repurposed if the franchise owner fucks up. A KFC building could become a McDonald's or a Taco Bell, so every building looks the same outside and in except some paint and finishings.
Also, the sausage McMuffin is fucking delicious. The burgers are ass but the nuggets are good. The ice cream is also good and pretty cheap. It's very cheap if you use the app.

They're everywhere. It is still fast relative to a sit down restaurant or cooking food yourself. If you're a trucker or you're going on a road trip, McDonalds is an option anywhere you decide to stop for food and a piss. Sometimes it's the only option. I don't think most people actually go to their local McDonalds regularly and enjoy it unless they're subhuman.

A bustling dining room with happy people cuts into profits. The franchise will see a higher customer turnover and require fewer employees (for cleanup, etc) if no one want to dine in and they take their food and leave.
