I've always wondered if the birth rate drops drastically enough (and it's already really low), if we'll start seeing places (in real life, not on the internet) where people can go to get assigned a husband or wife without having to go through dating.

Basically, anyone who would prefer to be married would go there and, after taking a quiz, will be assigned a person to meet, with both people having the understanding that it's expected to result in a marriage. Of course, if either person objects strongly enough to the other person, the match would cancelled -- but everyone would go into it knowing that the normal outcome is expected to be marriage, and they have the responsibility to try to make it work.

I suspect that a typical match would be a 25-to-30 year old virgin guy who's old enough to know that he'll never be able to find a wife on his own, matched with either a 35-to-40 year old woman who's hit the wall and can't find dates anymore, or else a 25-to-30 year old woman who's financially desperate.

Everyone would need to know that their "standards" are not applicable anymore. A lot of women will end up marrying a guy who gives them the "ick", and a lot of guys will end up marrying a woman who has spent years riding the cock carousel. Neither will be thrilled about lowering their standards, but after the total collapse of the dating market and dating apps, they will have no other choice if they don't want to spend the rest of their life alone.

Absolutely. Japan already made this. A government-funded dating app solely for marriage.
>The Name: The Tokyo Metropolitan Government developed and launched an official, AI-driven app called "Tokyo Futari Story" (officially released as Tokyo Enmusubi). "Futari" translates to "two people" or "a couple."
>Strict Vetting: Because the sole purpose is to encourage legal marriage and fight the population crisis, you can't just casually upload a selfie and start swiping. Users have to submit official documentation proving they are legally single, income tax records to verify their salary, and pass a mandatory virtual interview with a staff member.

South Korea on the other hand is doing government funded in-person dating events.
>Sponsored Mixers: Various cities across South Korea fund massive blind-dating festivals and city-wide singles mixers, going as far as offering cash prizes or housing subsidies to couples who meet at these events and eventually marry.
Temple-Stay Dating: One of Korea's most popular government-supported programs is "I am Jeolo," a temple-stay matchmaking retreat run by the Korean Buddhist Foundation that takes young singles out of the city to bond in a traditional setting.

Which do you think is better: online dating or in-person mixers? Or both?

>Destroy corporations making money of rotting the brains of the youth with parasocial relationships and shortform content
>Institute laws preventing phone use at work and school
>Switch to a 4 day work week
>Institute financial support so extensive that you make money from having kids
>Mandate a school class for teaching how to interact with the opposite sex

They'll do none of this though, just make as much profit they can and die off before they have to deal with any of the trouble this'll cause. Ignore it like global warming, I mean its not my problem so who gives a shit.

Maybe people will fall for some AI scam that selects a partner like in that black mirror episode

I doubt things get worse, paradoxically the same lack of resources that has people hesitant to build serious relationships forces them to get relationships if they want to get closer to that quality of life they aspire
