Why do neurotypicals treat people with ADHD better than those with autism do they not know that we dislike them just as much if not more because they have a higher expectation of us to fit in better simply because we understand them. At least with the autist we have a mutual unspoken agreement about not judging the other person
because when you remove the label and just look at the general traits of these people, ADHD people can be unpleasant in the sense they're overly talkative, sure. but autistic people are actively cruel and uncomfortable to be around. the vast majority of people are being polite and TOLERATING (i.e. putting up with) you.i know that's horrible, but it's just the way of the world. 50 years ago you wouldn't be 'on the spectrum' you'd just be called an awkward asshole, probably rude with a short temper.
>>84835533Have you ever even made an autist comfortable enough to unmask around you no shit they act like an asshole when they are in a constant state of feeling uneasy and tense
>>84835571yeah they're cruel because they're not acting according to social mores out of empathy (they lack theory of mind). they're essentially actors, playing along to a 'script' or 'rules' they've learned.not as bad as psychopaths, but not people you'd want to be friends with (given the choice).
>>84835629I always thought they just couldn't express empathy in what is deemed to be a socially correct way due to the neurodivergent communication barrier and that individuals with autism specifically can have extremely high or extremely low levels of emotional empathy
>>84835739they can feel sympathy, not empathy. not being able to put themselves in another person's shoes is one of the main traits of autism.
>>84835750Are you sure this doesn't just tie into the double empathy dilemma. I think someone with adhd has a better chance of understanding both because he she can be like damn buddy is struggling from over/under stimulation and at the same time think yeah you shouldn't be acting like that at all it is inappropriate and it's making people around you feel uncomfortable
>>84835750getting the sally-anne box problem wrong is a low-iq problem not an autistic one
People with ADHD are nowhere near as insufferable and tend to be insanely hard workers if they are doing something they like doing.
>>84835769> the double empathy dilemma. i mean maybe, but the same way an autist can mask and 'fake being normal' according to some rational set of rules ('i know people do not like when i say X, so i will not say X', without understanding why), a neurotypical can also learn the autism rules.it's the autists who are lacking a basic human feature, though. you can argue how humans are meant to be, but it's like colorblindness or some shit. in fact, EVERY autistic person i speak to says they hate it and wish there WAS a cure. it's not a special superpower to them, they struggle every day.best thing you can do is have a healthy pregnancy, feed/raise your kids properly, and think very strongly about HAVING children if autism runs in your family.
>>84835839That makes sense. I wonder if it could also be a not responding in a typical way but in a way that shows social norms are being understood with ADHD and then just a complete disregard from a complete lack of understanding from an autist. Person A says what's up sweet cheeks and then a huh after with a grin looking away what would be expected is to understand that it's a joke and reply $5 next time. An autist could very likely get angry and start screaming and spazzing
>>84835835Usually when we are properly stimulated yeah
>>84835835If you just leave me alone I will show up, clock in, work for 8 hours and go home. Stop trying to interrupt me to engage in pointless water cooler gossip and you will stop getting offended when I don't give a fuck about your water cooler gossip.
>>84835898Fuck thank you for saying this the worst part about neurotypicals has to be the unnecessary drama they do for fun that always just spirals into Brittany crying crouched in the corner with her phone out because somebody caught her farting
>>84835533>>84835629>>84835750>>84835839kill yourself theory of mind schizo
>>84835750that damn bitch Anne, why would she do that
>>84835512Interacting with someone with ADHD feels like you talk to someone on drugs or with reaaaaly low inhibition. Thus feels fineInteracting with someone with autism feels like talking to an empty husk with no inner life animated by dark magic. Thus feels wrong
>>84835571The thing that autistic people like yourself seem to never get is that the person your talking to also has a large spectrum of emotions. You seem to view the world through a "perpetrator and victim" lens where you as the victim can never act wrong against the perpetrator and must always be protected by said perpetrators
