I'm Indian and the first time I heard the word "izzat" was 2 years ago on 4chan, when I was 29 years old. I have literally never heard anyone irl use this word or make any reference to this type of culture. I'm from South India and now live abroad though so maybe this is a northie thing.
I just read that, it's amazing how spooked people can be, they can be spooked into a righteous system or unrighteous one. Having a mass of people in an unrighteous system like that is dangerous, that's why they are known for rape and scams.
