Pride makes sense because the jews are running out of sins to deceive and tempt people with. Greed, envy, gluttony, lust, and sloth are so firmly entrenched in the culture they can't do much more with those. Their compulsion to commit evil means wrath and pride are the only things left in order to fulfill "tikun olam", the jewish term for healing the world through staining it so thoroughly in sin that their god(the devil) returns as the antichrist. They failed to kill Jesus the first time so they genuinely believe they will be successful on their second try. The jewish religion believes that the at the end of days the devil will beat God and then they will rule the world with Satan for all eternity. If this sounds crazy to you that's because it is.
