It has come to my attention that there are anons who don't know how to torrent. I have an issue with this. Torrenting (also called Peer To Peer file sharing) is a way of sharing files online that doesn't require a central server to host them. Instead, it can download content directly from the devices of other people that are accessing that file. This is useful because it is easy for copyright holders to take down a website where pirated media is hosted. However, if that media is torrent, they would need to go after each and every person who has downloaded the content in order to stop people from sharing it.

You can find torrent files on numerous websites online. If you like anime, the best website is nyaa.si, but there are others such as 1337x.to and animetosho.org. If you are looking for general movies and TV, thepiratebay.org is your best option. Additionally, if you have downloaded a torrent, you can share it directly with someone just by sharing the magnet link, which is a unique link that every torrent has.
>>
To download and access torrents, you need a torrent client. The most popular torrent client is qbittorrent which can be downloaded from qbittorent.org, but there are others such as utorrent.

Once you've installed your torrent client, you should now be able to download torrents. You can download the files directly, or simply paste the magnet link into your torrent client.

Sharing your torrent with others is called seeding. You can seed torrents by simply leaving your torrent client open and running. Make sure the torrent is in the seeding status in your client, though. Seeding is important because it's how other people access the torrent. You don't have to seed torrents once you've downloaded them, but if no one seeded, torrenting wouldn't work. It's important to give back to the community, rather than just take.

what vpn do you recommend? i've heard mullvad is pretty good but i live in germany and the laws for torrenting here are pretty strict (i've literally gotten 2 cease and desists over games i didn't even pirate, obviously didn't hold up though)
what vpn would you recommend the most?

ProtonVPN is a good choice. It also has a free option if you don't want to pay.

>utorrent
Don't use this bloatware or anything else. Just use qbit
>>
this reminds me of when I was 7, watching a video on how to install steam
>>
>>84923471
doing gods work op, too many zoomers dont know how to torrent these days (coming from a zoomer myself)
>>84923513
mullvad is probably the best vpn to get. they have a consistent price model (as in, the price stays the same no matter how many months you pay for at a time) and they're against all the censorship laws, laws trying to ban vpns, etc.
>>84923561
free vpns sell your data.
>>84923568
also this, utorrent is malware and completely killed my pc multiple times until i figured out it was the problem. nothing like that has ever happened to me since i started using qbittorrent.
>>
>no one seeding and feeding the torrent
This is what killed torrenting
>>

I chose PIA because they had some kind of deal going on. No C&Ds, but I occasionally get randomly disconnected and have to wait a few seconds for it to reconnect.
>>
Doing the lord's work, anon, thanks. Everybody should know how to pirate. We had it good, I remember installing napster on school computers back in the day, and it being essentially the wild west of computing. The amount of SQL injection and XSS vulns back in those days was astounding.

kinda based ngl. Also qbittorrent, not bad.

>>84923561
Not OP, but I've been using PIA for years.

I do not trust free VPNs. If it's free you're the product.
>>
>>84923513
I use mullvad. It has integration with qbitorrent that makes it so it'll never leak to your isp. Always use a vpn and you'll never have any trouble. Remind me to seed all my torrents overnight.

not op but some private trackers I highly recommend:

MyAnonamouse (ebooks/audiobooks)
Jpopsuki (if you like Japanese music)
IPTorrents (best tracker for general use due to sheer amount of content and diversity of it)
GazelleGames (best vidya tracker)

Is there an alternative to kemono? I don't want to pay for patreon. Also it is pretty crazy how zoomers can't torrent. Literally all of them I have met don't even know what uTorrent is, and think the pirate bay is a darkweb site kek. I say this as a zoomzoom myself.
>>
>>84923647
That's why teaching new people how to torrent is important. More people downloading torrents means more people seeding torrents, which leads to more people downloading torrents, which leads to more people seeding torrents, etc.
>>
>>84923471
The times i've downloaded shit it gives me malware. I'd rather live malware free as I'm not that competent to remove fucked up viruses
>>
>>84923839
i recommend some safe trackers
for me, rutracker.org has always worked out and as sketchy as it looks, i i've never gotten a virus from it (they have literally anything, reaching from games to music production tools over to stuff like old movies and shit) trust me, you will find what you need
>>
>>84923513
>i've literally gotten 2 cease and desists over games i didn't even pirate
What was the letter about then? Sent to the wrong house?
>>
>>84923471
>thepiratebay
LOL!
>>
I only pirate media like books and music and movies. Too easy to get pwned with games and software. I ain't got time for games anyway. Steam is good enough for the one game a year I'll buy.
>>
>>84923513
self hosted amnezia vpn
>>
>>84923875
both:
on the first one it was the correct address, just not a game i ever pirated. it was some weird strategic game with 50 reviews on steam that i had never heard of before so i was sure it wasn't me. to this day i'm still not sure how they flagged my ip or whatever to track it to me, but it ended up being solved by a lawyer througfh responding to the firm and he never ended up getting a reply, so that one was taken back.
the second one was actually just the wrong mailbox, it was supposed to go to my neighbors

Do you use any mainstream vpns or share wifi with others?
>>
>>84923906
recommended vps for that?
>>
>>84923952
i used to use cracked nordvpn accounts and no, i don't share my wifi with anyone. i live alone
>>
>>84923965
Even w/ legit nordvpn use most of their ips are flagged because they're shared by so many
>>
>>84923839
don't download programs or any executables outside of invite-only private trackers. op is a newgen and I would ignore their advice on using piratebay. even 15 years ago it was loaded with malware and trusted accounts were sold on hackforums for a few bucks max. only public trackers I would ever recommend are nyaa for anime.
>>
>>84924025
Everything going private is what killed torrenting. I don't want to have to kiss some fags ass in discord to get an invite to MAYBE be able to torrent something over the course of a month because it only has one seeder with the last 56k modem in operation and he's only online for 30 minutes in the middle of the night on Wednesdays. Torrenting is better the more open it is because that leads to more people doing it and becoming seeders themselves; the desire for walled gardens is at odds with the technology itself.
>>
>>84924197
torrenting isn't dead in the slightest and private trackers have tons of seeders. there is more content than ever available. what 'killed' torrenting in the eye of normies was streaming becoming easily available which made a whole generation grow up without knowledge of it. likewise public trackers require VPN use if you want to download media without getting a DMCA which raised the barrier of entry. regardless, it's alive and sites like ipt have tons of users.
>>
Remember to seed anons, many blessings will come to you
