Most of what modern day women say and do is rooted in a resentment towards men, specifically, they want to be men. A large portion of many women's lives is centered around trying to feel more powerful than men, but it is purely performative. Every so-called misandrist I have met is really just a woman who feels wronged by a man and desperately wants a mans approval, all of the music they listen to, books they read, movies they watch etc. are made by men. Misandrists are the most male centered women. Feminists say they hate the patriarchy, yet at the same time they expect and love when a man pays for everything, is assertive, opens the door for them. They won't say it, because those things are "machismo" but those are always the men they seek. A woman who has a domination fetish fundamentally just wants to feel like a man. It is akin to a childish power fantasy, and just like a child, who throws a tantrum and tries to act independent, they begin to cry when they get what they want, because at a base level it is nothing more than empty posturing. That's why so many progressive women end up dating conservative men. Most women want the kind of "toxic man" they claim to hate, most women want to be stay at home mothers, but they don't want to be told to feel that way, like a child throwing a tantrum when they are told to take a shower.
