because he actually sees results of his efforts. people do not have infinite willpower. they need to see that what they're doing is working, otherwise they slowly lose motivation. He'll never surpass Goku because the writers won't let him, but when the only people stronger than you are literal gods and Japanese Superman with plot armour, I'd say you got rewarded plenty
