Did anyone else brain damage themselves from lack of sleep? I slept 5 hours a night on weeknights for almost 6 years while wagecucking an early shift factory job. Because of that I now have:>difficulty visualizing (partial aphantasia)>lack of imagination in general>lack of creative energy>difficulty solving or "internalizing" math problems>libido plummeted >erectile dysfunction slowly improving>feel numb to reality >ability to write prose is damagedI've been a NEET for 9 months now since getting laid off, and things have gotten somewhat better, but I'm afraid a lot of the damage is permanent. This was from age 25 to age 31 if it matters.
>>84946838I also spent a large part of my life sleeping just a few hours every day, and I feel like my memory is basically the same of a 70yo. I wouldn't be surprised if I start developing alzheimer early in life. The funniest part of it all is that the brain dagame caused by poor sleep in my past makes me sleep bad nowadays even in perfect conditions. My life is over.
>>84946838I think 90% of people can't write prose so it's hard to say
>>84946934I used to be happy with what I wrote. Now I feel like I can't even write as well as that. Everything just feels off. Even my 4chan posts have become more incomprehensible and less literate and sane. >>84946932That sucks anon. I was lucky to be able to sleep better again after being laid off and my sleep is still a bit messed up but not as much so. What other symptoms do you experience?
>>84946838I used to be a fuckhead as a kid and try to stay up as late as I could for bragging rights, of course short term I was dogshit in class because I could barely keep myself awake but fortunately the only thing its done to me is make me have permanent bags under my eyes so I always look tired no matter what. nuked me in terms of attraction but otherwise I'm fine
>>84947140>What other symptoms do you experience?I've been sleeping bad for a long time already so maybe the following symptoms weren't caused just because of the lack of sleep, but some other problems I have are>weak libido>slow reasoning >lack of will to start doing anything besides posting on imageboards >destroyed attention span >can't solve math problems in my head too>24/7 brainfogI was trying to do some exercises lately because I saw they can help one to heal some neurons in the hippocampus, but I can't do these continuously because I always wake up tired in the next day, so I feel like I'm stuck in a cycle .
>>84946838no but one time i didnt sleep 3 nights and started to hear shit and see spiders on the ceiling and cats
>>84947644>I was trying to do some exercises lately because I saw they can help one to heal some neurons in the hippocampus,What were the exercises?I feel like we had a similar situation.I hope recovery is a possibility.
>>8494693270 year olds without dementia have no significant memory problems. 70 is still pretty much full cognitive function.
>>84946838Your body never forced you to catch up on your sleep? Are you also on drugs? What arent you telling us
>>84948561I drank caffeine. I'd sleep in a bit on weekends. I'd have 2 cups of coffee a day and sometimes I'd still fall asleep standing up. I just couldn't stand being a wagie and wanted to kms. I was so glad to get laid off because I was too ashamed to quit. So yes sort of to both questions. Sometimes I'd nap for an hour after work. But I was definitely sleep deprived for 5 years.
>>84948388That's insane. Why didn't you sleep?
>>84947644I struggle with the brain fog neuropathy and other symptoms of poor sleep. Ive found doing duck walks is an easy way to exercise. Hope you find some regular rest in your schedule anon
>>84949661Leg exercises are great for boosting your testosterone.
>>84946838I used to stay up for days at a time as a child because I wanted to forget as much as possible and I read sleep deprivation caused long term problems with memory. My record is 4 days but I got spooked by hallucinations and went to sleep.
>>84946838>difficulty visualizing (partial aphantasia)>lack of imagination in general>lack of creative energyi actually get the opposite, but thats partially because of how i wake up in the morning. i usually have to have like 3 alarms set, one after the other, and that causes me to have a few micro sleeps before i wake up for good. whenever im barely awake at work, ill actually start dreaming a bit or have delusional creative thoughts.>libido plummetedmy libido is pretty low but one of the few times i feel fairly horny is when im tired.>feel numb to realityi dont think lack of sleep caused that for either of us friendo
>>84946838I get minor audio and visual hallucinations when I'm too sleep deprived. For instance, I'll think I see something moving out of the corner of my eye when nothing is there, or think I hear people talking/arguing faintly(as though muffled through a wall or in the distance).Oddly enough at a certain mild-to-moderate level of sleep deprived I get symptoms of mild mania, but in a pleasant way.
>>84946838Unfortunately my mom never cared how late I slept, so ever since I was 7 I have been sleep deprived. Somehow I am not completely retarded
>>84950472Yeah I probably raped a lot of my memories by doing this. I really hate myself.
I've been brain damaged from birth due to a stroke (uterine rupture, got trapped in my mom's intestines for a while, brain had no oxygen supply for a few minutes), and I've also had sleep apnea since my late childhood or early teens despite always being thin since the stroke also damaged my throat muscles. I started treating my sleep apnea for the first time this year and I do notice dramatically improved emotional regulation. I feel kind of appalled looking back at some of my old 4chan arguments from a few years ago. Mean and unhinged as can be.
>>84950580What's the easiest way to get tested for sleep apnea? My health insurance is shit.
>>84950643Pulse oximeters aren't the gold standard or anything but you can buy one off Amazon for $50 and ODI3/ODI4 events are very diagnostic for sleep apnea and have high overlap with hypopneas (which is what official sleep studies measure). From there you can buy a wedge pillow and/or mouthguard from someone like ZQuiet and only deal with the medical world if that doesn't help. Many countries have CPAPs as OTC devices but the US isn't one of them.
>>84948547>What were the exercises?First, a few years ago, I got really into weight lifting but it started to get hard for me to progress because of my poor recovery, so nowadays I try to do more aerobic stuff like running or just walking.>I hope recovery is a possibilitySame here...>>84948557Knowing that doesn't make me feel better at all.>>84949661>duck walksI will try it, although I don't know if it will be any better than regular running. >>84950580>my old 4chan arguments from a few years agoCould you post one of those here?
>>84950684Is there sinus surgery that can help? Since I quit my factory wagie job where I'm pretty sure my sinuses got irritated by some laminate they used there for a few months, I've had bad congestion on and off and sinus irritation and I end up breathing with my mouth open at night. My ex said I snored. I'd never slept next to a woman before so never knew. I don't know how long that's been but it was after I started that job. I'll never work in a factory again.
>>84946838>Did anyone else brain damage themselves from lack of sleep? I doubt it, neuroplasticity is pretty good at handling damage unless you're 80+You just grew out of your juvenile mindset and entered a more mature mindset, alot of things go out the door then.
>>84951588>You just grew out of your juvenile mindset and entered a more mature mindset, alot of things go out the door then.Yeah that's what makes me sad. Because I lost the imagination I had. I like that I matured. But I wish it hadn't come with me losing my inner world and creative spark. I definitely have some cognitive issues compared to before though. I just don't know how long it will take to heal. Or what I can do to help it along.
>>84946838I was in a similar situation. After college, I started working two full time jobs. Both the jobs would sometimes go into overtime hours also. I wanted to pay off debts and save enough to leave my hometown. It worked, but I didn't realize how bad it was wrecking me. Literally no one ever told me prolonged sleep deprivation can be damaging long term.
>>84946838>I slept 5 hours a night on weeknights for almost 6 years while wagecucking an early shift factory job.Lol 5 hours. Try running on 2 hours of sleep, pal
>>84951790What happened to you? Same kind of thing I described? Did it ever get any better? Did you find any ways to heal?>>84951803How do you live?
>>84951874>How do you live?I'm too stubborn to die, Anon.
>>84946838you need to trigger neurogenesis by taking 5 grams of shrooms alone in the dark once in a while and smoking high quality weed or hash
