Ibn Al sina for example believed that the universe was eternal, that God was like "the one" and that his essenche was existance and its like the sun and it emmanates existence, thus the universe has always been, its eternal. But thats not a calid stance scripurally as it strips God of the quality of being a Creator, and that the creation came to be, and that it is not eternal. The distinction between all these folks really shines whn you talk about islamic theology. Ghazali was Ashari basically.
