The strawpoll has concluded. Count of Monte Cristo won by three votes.
Time to begin!
To the anon who made this lovely poster, thanks for your help. It looks great.

Danglars is a spiritual boomer

Frankenstein was surprisingly runner-up, so maybe after we finish Monte Cristo we could move onto that. Or hold another vote. Not sure.
>>
>>85077412
How long do we have to read the book? Are we reading like a chapter per day, per /bcg/ post or what?
>>
>reading the entirety of count of monte cristo for a 4chan book club
the fuck. voters were trolling you.
>>
>>85077435
I feel like a 1000+ page book is a bad choice for a book club on a board that doesn't particularly care for reading in general.
I remember when /lit/ did its Don Quixote read-along in 2022, by the end barely anyone was participating.

>1400 pages is too much
Litlet

Why was Horton Hears a Who not a poll option?

>Looks up the book online to see for free download

Thanks, it was duckduckgo that fucked me too.

The vote wasn't my idea. Someone else suggested it, and I did it. So what, hold another vote? Frankenstein had 4 votes. Read that instead? Like what do we do here? Or just read monte cristo?
>>
>>85077606
No, I'm someone else, sorry.
>>85077442
Not sure. It'd be nice to get some feedback from you guys. I don't want to determine everything myself. We're supposed to be a group. What do you think?
Whatever the most comfortable rate is, i guess. one chapter per general post isn't bad, but a little tight for some.
>>
>>85077432
No he isn't dumbass. are we reading the same book ?

>>85077639
Boomers aren't greedy jealous retards?

very nice! good job.

Well, I'm not actually sure how often. Since this thread was made like 2 hours ago and almost about to be archived and I'm not sure how many threads will be made but assuming it's a /bcg/ per day or less often then a chapter per thread doesn't seem that hard of a task. I'll start reading it tonight.
>>
>>85077622
There was a robot book club last year. It lasted from September to December, I think. There were a few dozens of us at first but the number quickly went down. The OP always edited a new pic of the current author to insert his waifu for every new thread lel

Well, good luck to you with this. How often will you be making threads? Weekly?
>>
>>85078594
>>85078729
It may be per day or so currently. There's a good bit of activity, and well at least 20 votes, but nobody can take over during the early hours when I am sleeping.
So it goes to die.
Otherwise, nice bit of activity.
Last thread lasted longer though for some reason.
What did you guys read in the previous club?
>>
>>85077680
some of them arent
>>
>>85077601
You didn't even try with that response. Why are you ragebaiting?

Why the fuck did the book spent 100 pages talking about this nigga Dantes? How is he related to the Count?
>>
>>85080631
It was a different (better) time.
>>
>>85080631
It establishes why The Count has a bone to pick with the three antagonists, he's really pissed off that people willing to frame innocent men exist.

I didn't know we had a reading club in here. And such a nice coincidence that (You) voted for one of my favorite books. I was going to read something else but I can pick The Count of Montecristo right now.
Anyway, to the anons complaining about it being a long book, it didn't felt like such for me and I kept going through it constantly once the Count starts to put his plans into motion. One of my favorite parts is when Danglars manages to escape prison and his skills as a swimmer and sailor come back to him like not a single day had passed between that moment and getting incarcerated almost two decades before.
Definitely a good recommendation to keep reading, even if the club moves onto another book.
