What's really stopping you from living like this?
>>
Ah yes. The food forest.
>>
>>85082682
Only americans dream of that shit, everyone else wants to avoid it
>>
>>85082682
>What's really stopping you from living like this?
effort, there's no way I'm going to maintain all that
>>
>>85082714
hmm solid point. lets quadruple the size, and we'll get some brack pipos to work the land. maybe in exchange for some...room and board.

deal?
>>
>>85082709
Only retards. ((They)) have brainwashed you into thinking that living in the city is better than this.
>>
>>85082682
Because in my country this would cost 2m euros at the very least, id have to look elsewhere in europe.
Also forget about dating ever with picrel
>>
>>85082726
No thanks, I prefer the grocery store.
>>
>>85082727
You know living in the countryside is a huge ick for women right? You gotta move to a very big city if you want to date.
>>
isn't this illegal in america and many parts of europe lol
>>
>>85082682
You would have to have a job anyway to pay property taxes, and buy lumber and hardware to repair stuff. Also, a whole raw chicken costs only $5-$7.
>>
>>85082707
Gettin' my dink sunked in the Food Forest, yerp.
>>
>>85082738
>everything I do must be approved by women
Kys
>>
>>85082682
Only an issue if you think that's going to sustain you on its own
>>
>>85082682
I don't live on arable land and that actually bothers me quite a bit although I generally don't think about it.
>>
>>85082748
Well ive always wanted a family
>>
>>85082707
Do other languages really translate "orchard" into "food forest"? kind of based
>>
>>85082742
>isn't this illegal in america
not at all. why would it be...
>>
>>85082682
Having to maintain all this shit would me 13th reason why.
>>
>>85082763
idk if you're aware of this but foids are super into the "organic and healthy foods" stuff, on both sides of the aisle. I mean granted only republican leaning women want kids so you have to kind of make peace with that right away but many women would love this.
>>
>>85082682
property taxes
YWNROL(you will never really own land)
>>
>>85082682
Im not boujee enough for a hobby farm
>>
>>85082777
In my country orchards and food forests are different things, orchards are human planned rows of fruit trees for fruit production
And food forests are the latest invention of hippies who plant some fruit bearing bushes in the wilderness where they can collect berries once in a while and let their pigs wander around or whatever

Homesteads are net losses by themselves and require either becoming small business or some other supplemental income to support themselves
that's why there's so many homestead vloggers/channels on the tubes
>>
A It's boring I'd rather just have a passive income and shop at walmert
B niggers will steal your apples
>>
>>85082682
I live in the country with 2 acres of land.
Food is so cheap, its really not worth doing all that just to eat. I'd rather leave my land go kind of wild so its more kino to walk on
>>
>>85082682
Nonstop gooning.
>>
>>85082793
>are super into the "organic and healthy foods" stuff, on both sides of the aisle
Oh yeah that's for sure. But theyll froth in the mouth once you ask them to leave the capital city
>>
You're better off deleting the "food forest" and the livestock pen and keep the garden and chicken coop, but then for food you just hunt and fish. Way better and more consistent yields. I'm sure I don't have to explain how livestock works, but they take time and shit tons of grass.
>>
>>85082682
>What's really stopping you from living like this?
$1400/mo mortgage
>>
>>85082682
Money. The plot of land is going to cost hundreds of thousands. The house is going to be the same amount if not more. The various trees and seed thousands more. Tools required for maintenance is going to be a handy sum too. Livestock are going to be thousands in initial investment (hundreds per animal), not to mention vaccinations, medicine and visits from the vet.
This homestead doesn't produce its own water, electricity or grains for the livestock so all of that has to be imported. If you want to be net positive you have to grow to export.
>>85082709
I'm European and I dream of a homestead.

Came to say this:
>>85082884

They can't sustain. My friend is an independent cattle rancher and he works very very hard just to break even. It's weird because of how much food and especially beef is in demand. There is something seriously wrong with the economy. Probably we're in a cold war with china in the AI arms race.
>>
>>85082730
This. You have to buy the land

>>85082884
>that's why there's so many homestead vloggers/channels on the tubes
Interesting.
So the very existence of their "it just werks!" vlogs proves that it actually doesn't work.
>>
>>85082682
- there's no affordable land anymore
- there's property tax due every year or you need an agricultural exception and then you need to be a proper business and then if you don't turn a profit the IRS considers it a hobby not a business etc...
- it's hard work and miserable someplace where its hot and humid
- zoning prevents it in many places
- you can't do it yourself, you need many people working hard to maintain it
- livestock isn't cheap
- livestock vet care isn't cheap
- livestock supplemental food isn't cheap
- if you don't use pest controls then bugs will eat everything, and pest controls are expensive

I dunno Anon, is that enough reasons why not?
>>
>>85082682
Because Im not rich enough to buy women to put into the livestock and breeding farm zone.
>>
>>85083321
>your leaders give you a shit economy and fucked up incentives
>its chinas fault.. somehow

why are amerigolems like this
>>
>>85082748
men exist to make life easier for women, if you fail to do that, you're not a real man
>>
>>85083477
Should women try to make life easy for men then?
>>
>>85082682
>No water
>No electricity
>No grazing zone
>No vet clinic to treat your lifestock
>No agri supply store
>Wildlife probably fuck your garden and hunt your livestock
Mate, you have been playing too much stardew valley, life is more complex than you thought.
>>
>>85083539
All your assumptions are retarded except the last one which depends on the area.
>>
>>85083392
>somehow
It's the AI race and china openly shouting that it plans to be the dominant superpower. Why is the psyop (you) so bad at psyopping?
>>
>>85082682
I don't like gardening of even home maintenance. I would rather goon.
>>
>>85082738
Lol. Just a hard lol.
>>
>>85082730
that sounds like it could only be luxembourg
>>
>>85082884
thats why you need to collect benefits
>>
>>85083757
Yes
>>85083704
Its true though, even small cities give them the ick. Its megacities or nothing.
Also the gender ratio in the boonies is abysmal so you gotta find a partner in big city beforehands
>>
>>85082682
>What's really stopping you from living like this?
A few million monies
>>
>>85083539
>>85083368
Innawoods would be the solution, but people here don't have the knowledge or skills for innawoods, which basically means you take your ass to uncharted areas of Alaska and just build a cabin next to a river. There is no livestock or garden, the idea of that is laughable.
In remote Alaska you don't need a garden or livestock though. Salmon literally just spawn in the rivers and rasberries grow wild.
t. was born in Alaska.
>>
>>85083848
so just move to germany? whats the big deal?
luxembourg is a city state, this is like complaining about real estate in singapore or hong kong
>>
Mostly laziness and lack of any will.
I like the idea but I'm way too used to the easy life. Actually getting a place in the countryside with some land (even if not that much) costs more or less the same as an average flat in my country because people don't want them.
I'm also paranoid, and if I lived in the middle of nowhere I'd have to pretty much sleep with a rifle.
>>
>>85082682
Do you think the US education system is creating self-sufficient homesteaders lmao? I wouldn't know the first thing about living like this.
>>
>>85083965
When you're out of high school or even college you don't know the first thing about anything.
You can always learn.
