I've been addicted to opiates and have been on methadone and suboxone. My opinion is that they should give out free needles (not for the junkies benefit, but rather to prevent the spread of hiv, help, etc), and that NOBODY should get methadone maintenance, and they should only offer rapid detox from opiates using like maybe a 5 day suboxone taper. Yes they should be allowed benzos too just because opaite withdrawal is hell but no the govt should not enable your addiction by giving you free drugs everyday it's ridiculous. And if you break the law, especially if you do scummy shit like steal to make money for drugs then you should go to fuckin jail and cold turkey in there. If you go in sick they should give you your own cell for like 5 days, a single 2mg suboxone pill, maybe 20mg of diazepam and a couple boxes of immodium, and like 10 tylenol. Just put you in the cell with that shit to suffer brutally and then get over your physical addiction. Then mandatory PE training with all the other convicts. Get healthy. Don't be some slave to government methadone it's absurd. Why should taxpayers literally pay money so you get liquid heroin because you're an addict? You should get off that shit and get healthy. If you can't then they put you in jail and make you do it.

And I'm speaking from experience I've cold turkeyed opiates in prison and it's fucking hell, it's absolutely horrible. But in the end you get healthier so overall it's good for you. Your choice if you want to leave prison, risk the same suffering again. I personally was just so scared of imprisonment because in the real world, you cam always get some sort of supply or at worst you can manage a withdrawal pretty well with benzos, shitlods of immodium, zopiclone, even tylenol/codeine pills you can most likely get. In prison you just raw cold turkey suffer and there's nothing you can do. And I don't even really have sympathy for myself. I got addicted and there's always a possibility you go to prison.
