Where I grew up we would have Israelis come into school and talk about the situation in the middle east and their justifications for their attacks. This was happening in 7th and 8th grade for me.In terms of the US government it's been a place where we can test new weapons we've developed and a country we can use to launch other operations in the Middle East. It's really only the last few years when younger folks started becoming more aware of politics and Netenyahu has become increasingly hardline that people started seeing the reality of what's going on there.The amount of pro-Israel propaganda older generations have been exposed to is really kind of insane.
