Was gonna see a counsellor today.Decided I couldn't be fucked going. I've had nothing but bad experiences with them and talking to someone doesn't fix the problem.
The talking is not what fixes the problem. The talking does have the potential to clear mental space, motivating to whatever solo action must be taken to fix whatever problem you have.It is true the quality of mental health practitioners varies, and it is worth it to shop for someone who tends to deal with clients like yourself.
>>85096691It's just a scam good job not wasting your time and money OP
>>85096569all shrinks do is coddle or abuse you, then gaslight you and give you pills. they are all evil.
>>85096569if you have trauma, see someone trauma-informed. believe it or not, most mental health practitioners are NOT trauma informed. what will help you is not usually standard therapy or medicine. you need to find someone who is informed and also compatible with you.
>>85096691I knew some sheep was gonna say this.
>>85097379I mean, you do need to talk to anyone. You could always just clean up your diet, get more sleep, and exercise. Having life going on your terms tends to reduce mental noise as well.
When I was 14yo this therapist tried to tell my dad I was a tranny. Why'd she say this? I had long hair and my parents had a girl before me that died at birth. Her theory? I tried to emulate the dead baby girl to get love and attention. What she left out? I wore combat boots, camo pants and metal shirts. This was in 2011 before the whole tranny thing really exploded, thank God.Same people at that place would see the bruises from the abuse I was experiencing and would look at me angrily, not even asking questions where that came from.Had a therapist tell me (years later) that the abuse I experienced takes two to tango and it resembles the relationship between a sadist and a masochist. And on and on it goes. I've known 2 therapists that were decent, a young guy just out of uni and an old lady in her 60s that was kind and had done much reflection. Most others? Neurotic messes and genuinely sadistic psychopaths. A lot of them start developing a sort of God complex where they view you as just another number/ textbook example/ object. They genuinely train away their empathy (empathy, not just pity). If therapists had to go through a rudimentary philosophy course 101 I bet you some of this could be avoided. For the most part they're not able to put themselves in the shoes of another, that is genuine empathy. Or speak that persons language. They'll judge your use of language without reflecting upon it and project whatever they think it means onto you. Hence why most therapy just won't work. There are some genuinely brilliant therapists out there, but that's because they've got that empathy in their bones, it's their temperament. Most people that go into that profession are either psychos that desire power over others or they do it for other ego reasons. It's fucked.
