>>85096752there's a ton of reason why a house might not be inherited after the owner died, most common would be something like a reverse mortgage which boomers love because it allows them cash to buy new cars, boats, RVs and to go on cruises every summer. If they have more than one child and don't specify one child getting the whole thing then often the children sell it and divide the money up, lastly there might be liens on the property that could force a sale.
Oh and its becoming more and more common for boomers to fund their nursing home stays by putting up their home as collateral as well, so when they die the care facility gets the property. Or for them to sell the home outright before they go into said home.
