imagine if you were born in the void. for all your childhood and teenage years, you knew nothing of anything whatsoever. no language, nothing to stimulate the senses, nothing whatsoever. and then all of a sudden, you come into this world as an adult. all you've ever known your entire life is nothingess, doing nothing. what would you do? would you be like a feral child, pursuing only base necessities? or would you be so empty of any and all ambitions and motivations that you would cease to act completely?

We have to learn and develop social skills and language skills in childhood. A child in isolation or neglect will be fucked up and likely mentally retarded. Not just feral but the child would have permanent ongoing disability. Ongoing language and developmental issues. The child might never actually be good at speaking and will likely struggle to learn to read. A catastrophic lack of social skills would likely mean outbursts and violence at some point. Or they'd be scared of everyone and everything like a feral cat. One of the largest predictors for intelligence isn't always your genetics but direct one on one interactions with mommy and daddy as a small child. Learning to play. Learning to laugh. Hearing songs and speech and copying them. Experiencing social interactions. Etc. Extra one on one time with mommy and daddy is why the first born child is often slightly smarter than future siblings. No. Child isolation and neglect are horrific abuse. Literal torture.
