technically, there's no way to prove metaphysically that there's a god just as there is no way to prove there's not one.

but GOD do i want there to be a god. i don't want to exist in a void. this is hell.

and that the boundless suffering of this world is completely senseless and that it is the machinations of no intelligent being but the void, exasperates me to no end. i would rather there be a god, at least one who wouldn't send me to hell just for not believing in him. or at least, a truth that is pleasant.

If you want to take near-death experiences into account (that don't include drugs or fevers) a lot of them report feeling unconditionally loved by a being they recognized, that it felt like waking up from a dream and that it felt realer "in there" than here. Maybe it's wishful thinking but I hope that's the case. This place always felt like a ridiculous dream to me and never felt like the baseline of reality. It felt more like a parody of it, but who knows.

I believe there is a God. It is my choice to do so. I talk about it with Him and I have Him guide my morals.
I do not care for the afterlife, though. I believe this is all we have. And that's a good thing. The Lord's creation is beautiful, and out job is to manage it, to sanctify it. That's what makes it meaningful. The more holy we can make it, the better.
There are those who choose to take it further away from Him and corrupt it, that's what makes choices meaningful.
This is it. This is all there is. And it's a good thing.
Concerning yourself with an afterlife of either eternal rapture or sorrow, takes away from the beauty of the now.

I just struggle to deal with the hate in the world. Hate is a rot like no other, it infects everyone it touches.
