My mom hit and screamed at me today >she offers to take me to the gym > I accept and when we go she drives to the bottom of the steep road leading up to it and says that she doesn't have time to drive up it> it would take probably 5 seconds > i get mad and ask that she drop me off in front of the gym, not at the busy ass road >insists that she "doesn't have time" > i get out and slam the door of her car > as Im walking up the road i hear a car speeding up to me> its her and shes frantically screaming about her car and how i slammed the door > im now upset because she apparently has time to drive up the road just to yell at me> i get back in the car and say fuck this just take me home> she says screaming at me, literally frothing at the mouth, and calling me names, actually hits me at one point > i eventually just get out and walk to the gym, just sit in the hot tub for a whileNow I'm thinking I should've just walked up the hill without a fuss, but it felt really disrespectful and inconsiderate in the moment and I feel that she was purposely fucking with me, and it escalated pretty fucking fast into screaming and her calling me names, what do you think? btw it worth mentioning she was talking about her ex during the drive and how she hasn't had contact with him so i'm pretty sure she was taking that out on me
sadly, this sort of behavior is all too typical among the lower class. it's shit like this that keeps the generational trauma alive and well and keeps the whole family poor and insecure when it comes to everything that matters. I suggest reading Paul Fussell's book, "Class" I wish you the best, OP
