Are the StarForce games any good? I decided back then to never touch them with a 10ft pole because changing the 3x3x2 grid to a third person view, 3 tiles area of movement in battle felt stupid.

well I liked them, the first game had a surprisingly good story but the gameplay was very simplified.
idk I liked them a lot but they are nowhere near as good as battle network 2 or 3

the battles yes they are 3d and a bit more simplified
but the outside of the battles it's very similar the first game is about space and constelations the second game is about the ancient civilization of mu and UMAs and an OOPart
