I mean what are the risks if you go? That you'll look like a loner chuddy? Could just go to an out of town club as a practice run, and get a feel for it; and think of it like you aren't trying to succeed and improve your social skills, but scope the place out. Could ask bartenders questions as usually they're social people, who know how and where to be social, and would be incentivized to give you information for a good tip.

How I used to do it was that if I screw up and make a fool of myself, I'll just kill myself, as I was suicidal back then. So since it didn't matter if I failed as I'd be dead, I'd just put myself out there and did whatever I wanted to do. Sure I've had a few awkward situations but it got me to realize it's really not as bad as I thought. I really wouldn't recommend this as it's not good to be suicidal, but removing the risk of failure can help, like going to somewhere where no one will recognize or know you before and after you leave

Also don't feel ashamed about using chatgpt, I mean it's probably unhealthy to be talking to it like a friend; but it's really useful for problem solving like this.

As for making friends, does it matter if it's online or real life? I can give you some good advice on how to make friends for either if you can tell me your interests and hobbies

Like a late night club with music? That actually wouldn't help at all, way too fucking loud and impossible to talk much. Going to a bar near a college would be better because you can actually talk to people.
