I wonder what I'll waffle on about today. Plus I need to test him as well, is it worth it?, what tactics does he have. Not sure if last week he just commented outloud, or a try stroke the fragile ego thing, he called me intelligent, to which i said meh, then prattled on about a quote about faust I'd heard from a manly p hall audiobook. It's a good quote, IMO. Like faust we stand with all our lore, fools no wiser than before. I interpret it as, it's not just about knowing everything, we need to experience things as well.

Lots of people really do just have a big tellybox screen in the corner of their living room. First thing they do in the morning is switch it on and beam "the news" into their head for 60 minutes. Thoughts, feelings, sentiments, emotions, opinions, topics to pay attention to, topics to not pay attention to etc just handed to them consciously and subliminally by a posh voice. Their entire construction of the world formed by the tellybox. Every day. And you can't even say "it's like 1984" because it's worse - they don't have to do this. They can choose to not watch, but don't. I don't know why people do this to themselves.

Imagine being a young Thai girl born in the rural areas to quite poor parents. You don't have many opportunities but then one day a friend of your dad offers you some waitressing/minor domestic work in Bangkok and you jump at the chance to make some money. You're only seven but you really want to help your parents because you've got such a pure heart. You arrive late at night and you're tired but your dad's friend says you have to start work immediately. Oh, okay. Well can't be too bad, he leads you to a small room behind a bar. It's bathed in red LED lights and has a fresh but small mattress on a cot in the corner. You ask if this is where your uniform is and his face loses all wholesomeness and he says sternly to get ready. You don't know what that means and you're getting scared. You stand there not knowing what to do until the door opens again and a fat minimum wage van driver in a crumpled shirt waddles in through the door.

You lads hear about the latest horror story where a gang of five muslim men heard that a mum and her daughter were home alone waiting for her son to come home and so they decided to opportunistically commit a home invasion to try and rape them both?

Like what the actual fucking fuck is going on in this country? Before we had millions of foreigners flooding in I can say with absolute certainty that this situation literally never happened in all of British history. It simply did not occur. Now, women can't even be home alone with risking gangs of foreign men trying to break in and rape them and their children.

Did you even hear about this? The fact that this isn't page 1 news, with MPs arguing we need the death penalty back is a fucking travesty.

We have a record welfare bill that everyone knows is obviously being scammed, gangs of foreigners raping people daily, petty crime so rampant it's essentially legal, an economy which hasn't moved in over a decade, record numbers of British people leaving, a housing crisis, the highest levels of mistrust in institutions on record, armed forces that couldn't retake the Falklands again and are functionally non-nuclear, kebab shops sponsoring dozens of 'skilled visas', billionaires and millionaires leaving in droves, ILR incoming for the boriswave, the highest taxes ever and two tier policing.

And the cunts in power are dancing on stage while announcing fucking price controls on bus fares. Fucking Number 10 North. Fucking increased foreign aid spending. I genuinely feel like I'm losing my mind.

I hold zero party loyalty and view the next election as the final one, basically. Maybe they'll not fix anything or maybe they will, either way out of the options available they're the only party that both has the potential to win and is making overtures towards actually identifying and fixing the key problems. I'll vote for them and see what happens. Voting for any other party imo is either a wasted vote, or just retarded acceptance of the status quo.

ngl if youre past 18 or 19 or already did uni and are looking to go back I wouldn't bother, it has its appeal when youre younger because even if the degree is useless you can use it to learn how to be a functioning person but going purely for the quals seems pointless considering a lot of graduates are struggling. I'd probably look into doing a trade unironically. Personally I took an ez job in the civil service despite having stem quals because the job market is such a headache I took it and stayed with it, got access to the internal jobs board now so some of those jobs require my MSc which are bigly paying, putting in some applications with those but you might want to look into local government, its steady, its hybrid, pay isn't terrible for the work you do (pretty much nothing) and you dont need quals for most of it, you can work your way up if you can figure out their bullshit s.t.a.r.s and behaviours system.
>>
>>85208340
Also, a lot of people unironically used to go to uni to drink lots of alcohol with minimal consequences and shag. After uni, you will rarely be around thousands of people in your age group who have things in common with you. People couple up at uni.
>>
>>85208360

Uni used to be for very smart people. Now, half of 18 year olds every year go to uni. It does not prepare mongs for work.

I'm sure this was a good idea in your head when you set out, but FUCKING HELL what a waste of many thousands of pounds.

if hes a mature student it will be genuinely grim though, youd want to top yourself living amongst 18 year olds after a few weeks in their grotty dorms, I dont think older people would really reap the social benefits of uni so then it just leaves the quals but in 2026 it seems like a waste of time given how dire the job market is.
>>
Honestly, 10 grand a year for 3 years to get a degree from Oxford or Cambridge is a FUCKING GOOD DEAL. The cost at an American university of equivalent calibre would be around about 10 times that.

If you are going to the university or west England or something you have to wonder why?

>Now Lisa, listen to me. This is important. I want you to smile today. It doesn't matter how you feel inside, you know. It's what shows up on the surface that counts. That's what my mother taught me. Take all your bad feelings and push them down, all the way down past your knees, until you're almost walking on them. And then you'll fit in, and you'll be invited to parties, and boys will like you. And happiness will follow.

Tbqh in America because uni is so insanely expensive they do have Community Colleges that are far cheaper and offer both basic degrees and also vocational qualifications. They are a pretty good thing in the USA all things considered as tonnes of older people attend them. In fact, they are mostly filled with adults.

Wonder if that would be a good thing here.

You lads ever think about how rapidly advances happen when they do but then also think about places which, even today, are essentially still the stone age.

Like think about some absolute destitute shit hole - Mali, Sudan, Somalia etc. and try to picture what they're going to be like in fifty years time. In fifty years there will literally be flying cars taxiing people around the skyscrapers of Shanghai on their way to conferences about quantum processors. What will these other countries be like? Will they still be stuck in the stone age? Will the main signs of human life be smatterings of corrugated iron roof hovels with gaudy green plastic water tanks slowly leaking nearby? Mad to think about.

> Like think about some absolute destitute shit hole Mali, Sudan, Somalia etc.
>Or Birmingham, Grimsby, Newcastle, Liverpool, Wales.

In all seriousness a lot of these developing countries are weird now because a lot of them have smart phones despite being poor as fuck. They have like 5 hour WhatsApp calls and shit just talking to each other constantly. They 5 hour WhatsApp call is very third world thing.
>>
>>85208649
At least he's doing something with his life. You lot aren't.
>>
>>85208626
Places in the Stone Age properly are like North Sentinel Island and maybe some barely contacted tribes in the Amazon.

North Sentinel island might well stay that way they are for another thousand years tbqh. Indian Navy arrests anyone that goes near. Just let them be.
>>
>>85208652
Yeah I get what you mean lol, but the fact is they aren't developing. They've been 'developing' for close to a century now in some cases, and the vast majority of their people still live in mud shacks and rely on UN handouts to not constantly suffer famines. Where is the development? What have the trillions of dollars worth of aid and low interest loans and grants achieved in these places? Places where they can't even put roads in themselves, let alone things like running water or stable electricity. Some places have clawed their way into something resembling real countries, but those are the exceptions that prove the rule.
>>
>>85208626
maybe there's some bottleneck in technology somewhere, but as all the fancy energy and communications technology improves in Shanghai, surely that'll have a knock-on effect in the third world?

the limiting factor will probably still be geography/weather. we'll be arguing about Star Trek: The Nextest Generation with some Somalian guy on his freshly-delivered holo-console, but we'll have fresh strawberries and he won't (lol #rekt)
>>
Really is crazy just how many gay guys there are in the media relative to the general population. Every show now has at least one. That's orders of magnitude over the gen pop.
>>
>>85208690
Who is "we"? Most of the UK will be Somalians by then.
>>
>>85208690
Possibly, but as far as I can tell everything those places have that's modern is just the overspill from the actually productive, innovative parts of the world. The only reason those places and people have smartphones is because the rich productive parts of the world are so ravenous for them that there is an overspill of older models and the price per unit has plummeted so incredibly relative to the hardware you get that they can gobble up the scraps for pennies on the pound. But none of that has led to any real 'development'. In real countries you'll have entrepreneurs and tinkerers who, when given access to these amazing devices, are able to come up with some generative enterprise. Obviously it's not all great, but it's still there. Apps and use cases and modding and all that sort of thing has created billions in value outside of the direct smartphone sector itself. Yet we see absolutely none of that emerging from destitute shit holes despite their populations being many times bigger and smartphone adoption being almost at levels we have. Maybe there really are just hard limits to civilisation for swathes of the population?

Hear me out.
The death of cool British rock music and rock bands generally is a fucking catastrophe and essential to understanding the malaise and so many problems in society.

>>

Continued.
From 1950s until about the late 00s youth culture and cool WAS rock music. What kind of rock derivative genre was your identity as a teenager not your fucking gender. Rock encapsulated everything cool and British rock scene was the global centre of that for decades.

GIRLS adored rock stars. Lusted after rock stars. Threw themselves fully wet at rock stars. The biggest shaggers on the planet in the 70s were not influencers or athletes or models but British rock stars with long hair.
Rock was rebellion and freedom but also with an intellectual and political side.
>>
Burnham: "Carers should be the best paid people in society, not the worst."

Fucking lmao. The segment of the boriswave that he wants to exempt from Mahmood's reforms was specifically designed to reduce wages in the care sector post-Covid.

Import loads of migrants and dependants from 3rd world countries where avg IQ is in the 80s to lower wages of White British care workers, raise min wage to wipe out any savings, declare they should be the best paid people in society, grant them lifetime access to the welfare state. Genius.

>Burnham: "Carers should be the best paid people in society, not the worst."
Same mindless rhetoric as those cunts who post shit like NURSES SHOULD MAKE FOOTBALLERS SALARIES, LIKE IF YOU AGREE on facebook.

But really what does he expect his own followup on this to be? Okay, so *will* you pay them the 'best' wages in society? What would that even look like? Carers on 10 million quid salaries? What does he even fucking mean by this? Does he genuinely not grasp things like supply and demand? It's all fucking vibes with these cunts, this should be x or this should be y. No accounting for reality. I'm already so tired of him.
>>
>>85208823
In the 00s there was still the Strokes and Arctic Monkeys and Kings of Leon and the Kaiser Chiefs and the Libertines and just loads of stuff. Despite Eminem and the rise of Hiphop, rock was still cool and a massive part of youth culture. Even outside of rock we had interesting experimental stuff like Jungle and Drum and Bass.
Something happened around 2010 (social media?) and suddenly popular music became very girly.

Teenage girls used to look up to swaggers sexy rock star men. 2010 to now they look up only to single female performers.
That is literally what music is to a lot of young women now. Just a whole load of divas singing songs written for them by a team and a whole board managing their socials and behaviour.

Go back in a tardis to 2004-2006. Go to any comprehensive school/High school anywhere in the western world. USA, Canada, UK, Germany, AUS. Look around. You will 100% see a clique of kids dressed in black with the same sweeping hair cut. Boys in mascara. Self harm scars. All listening to stuff like My Chemical Romance.

Imagine it is 2005 and you are a 14 year old boy and you are not the paragon of masculinity. You are sensitive and unathletic and extremely emotional and neurotic but not super academic. You turn on the radio and you hear Gerard Way from MCR screaming I AM NOT OKAY. You turn on MTV and you see him in black eyeliner and he sings how you feel. Incredible. You become emo. You now have a clique of friends and girls who are into your look and personality.
