anyone else feel like the past was way easier? like in a relative sort of way? i feel like if you didnt get kicked in the head by a horse growing up, or get super lead poisoned, and learned a few skills like reading, you would instantly be promoted to a incredibly high role. even if you were retarded, you certainly werent alone, and it was even easier to be a criminal too as a fallback option. i feel like the bar is raised to high you need to either be a super genius with technology, very socially gifted, or a talented/skilled artist to have a high social position/job.
It was more a matter of earning enough money to buy a house and raise a family of seven as an average man working a management role at the local movie theater.

It's called survivorship bias, you think you'll be one of the managerial class when in reality you'll be one of the unwashed laborers.
